Interview with Mo~Money

Winner of the Fifth Edition of the $1000 Stock Picking Contest
Real name: Chris · Pick: CUP (+67.1%) · Interview: June 6, 2006

3SOF: What's your age?
Mo~Money: I am 22 years old .

3SOF: What's your real name?
Mo~Money: Chris

3SOF: Where do you live?
Mo~Money: Born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska…

3SOF: How long have you been trading the stock market?
Mo~Money: Little less then two years, with actual money.

3SOF: What was your motivation/trigger to get in this business?
Mo~Money: Well I grew up watching television, reading the news papers like any other kid. And I kept coming across the business sections and market indices overviews. So at around age 12 or 13 I had this curiosity built up inside me and finally asked my folks what all this stock stuff was about. My parents had never purchased a stock in their life. So my fathers reply was that it is just for rich people, and that it is crocked as hell. So that pretty much shook off my curiosity until I was about sixteen and had a basic understand of how the economy and the stock markets worked, and realized that it encompasses more than just rich people. Then a couple years later I began to paper trade. Without any knowledge of technical analysis you could say I did not do very well. With anything learning is a process, and the rest is history I guess!!!

3SOF: What's your trading time frame?
Mo~Money: It ranges from days to weeks, recently I find myself day trading more and more!

3SOF: Besides Stocks, do you trade anything else?
Mo~Money: Nope, but have thought about trading options.

3SOF: Do you trade for a living, or do you have other activities?
Mo~Money: For now yes, I also help out my father who is a self employed business man and seems to have a monopoly around town whenever I can. I am also studying to become an air traffic controller and plan graduate in December of this year.

3SOF: Do you practise any sports, or other leisure activities?
Mo~Money: Yes, Alaska is too beautiful a place not to get out and enjoy it. With that said I enjoy snowmachining, fishing, hunting, hiking, skydiving, among other outdoor activities!

3SOF: How do you pick your stocks?
Mo~Money: I look at stocks that come up on www.barchart.com , and many of the picks that people write about on 3SOF. Barchart.com shows many of the currently trending stocks. I look mainly at NASDAQ stocks trading at $1-9. I might go up to $15, but the fundamentals have to be good too. Lately I've been getting better returns on the $1-5 stocks than higher priced ones.

3SOF: Tell us about your strategy on the markets.
Mo~Money: I do not really concern myself with Fundamentals that is more for investors. Instead I do what any trader does, which is look for patterns(or breakouts from patterns) and follow the money flow. I don’t put more than 10% of my capital in a single trade & I take profits often! No one ever went broke taking profits! Can’t let greed control you there will always be another play, Always.

3SOF: How's your trading desk?
Mo~Money: Just a plan old desktop with a 19” monitor, I also own a IBM laptop.

3SOF: What's your favourite stock market book?
Mo~Money: Come Into My Trading Room: A Complete Guide to Trading, By Alexander Elder, Japanese Candlestick Charting - Second Edition by Steve Nison.

3SOF: What's your favourite movie?
Mo~Money: Not sure, I like many..

3SOF: And your favourite websites about the markets?
Mo~Money: You mean besides 3SOF?
I use alphatrade, like there service a lot. As far as market resources I like,
http://mysite.verizon.net/resppzq7/index.html
http://themicrocapspeculator.blogspot.com
http://www.stockhideout.com
http://www.investorshub.com <<(if u can filter through the pump and dumps)

3SOF: Do you have any inspiration on the stock market?
Mo~Money: Not really. Jesse Livermore, Warren Buffet, and Charles Dow maybe.

3SOF: Congratulations on your stock pick, CUP gave you 67% profit in 1 month, putting you far ahead any other player, did you actually trade CUP on your real money portfolio?
Mo~Money: Sure did, made a few bucks not bad. I was lucky to have nailed my exit the way I did!

3SOF: Were you afraid of any other player’s pick during the contest?
Mo~Money: Frankly not at all, How can I say this in the humblest way possible? I executed the trade very well, and planned my entry and exit perfectly, I’m sure there was some luck involved, but either way It let to the annihilated of my opponents…lol (that’s great)

3SOF: Tell us about your biggest gain since you start trading?
Mo~Money: September of last year, during the hurricanes Katrina and Rita PBLS shot up from under a penny to .128 in like 2weeks, was lucky to have gotten in on almost the ground floor of that trade and made a bundle! 2nd place would be PTSC got in @.16 sold out way to early @ something like .36. O’ well missing out on much of that run has only made me a better trader.

3SOF: And about your worst loss?
Mo~Money: Not sure, I try to limit my losses between 10-30%. I am certain that I have lost much more than that but I don’t recall, must be over it…

3SOF: How did you find 3stocksonfire.org?
Mo~Money:  Not entirely sure, google most likely.

3SOF: What members have you been applauding recently on 3SOF?
Mo~Money:  Man, that’s tough, there are so many knowledgeable people on this site so forgive me if I leave a few of you out. But, I really admire the wisdom and work of EliteG, setravis, Terliso, Melf Elf, Michael, and your not to bad yourself Ramsburg!!! Ok that’s enough ass kissing!

3SOF: What would you say or recommend to someone that just started trading the markets?
Mo~Money: Paper trade first, don’t buy on margin, plan your entry and exit before hand, take profits often(don’t be greedy)… & Good Luck!

3SOF: Thanks a lot for this interview; I wish you luck on the next edition!
Mo~Money: Thanks, maybe the next one will be more of a challenge for me… LoL (only kidding)
