Title: GIGA
Post by: jeff46902 on May 13, 2005, 12:08:02 PM
Is GIGA a good buy at this level (4.18)?  Or do you think it may drop below 4 and seek a new base there before going up again?  They just reported good financial results, and I am surprised that this stock didn't take off like it did in the past on non-financial news.

Any opinions?

Thanks!

The thing is back in March the stock hit a high of about $5.  It went up real fast then dropped.  I think a lot of people thought it was going to break out from there.

I think a lot of those people are selling off.  A lot of ask prices.  But My opinion is this is a good entry point.  The stock is recovering.

I am always leary of a fast up move in a stock.  if you look at the chart the move was alsmost onf a 90 degree angle.  It was bound to retract.

Good luck.

Post by: jeff46902 on June 12, 2005, 10:30:43 PM
I have had GIGA for a few weeks now, starting at $4.11.  It has been going up and down with not much moving in either direction, and the volume has been considerably low.  It has been behaving completely contrary to my expectations.  Do you think this stock will take off this week, or continue its recent behavior?  If the latter, I may sell at near-breakeven and get something else instead.

Thanks,
Jeff

GIGA, nice buy Tommy, personaly I'd be locking in profits on GIGA,big move history suggests spikey run followed by  downward drift. That said nice news on the Israel contract, military deal will go on for ages, maybe this could run more. For some reason it hasn't appeared on my vol mover filter, hmm something to look into.
Again nice buy, you get some good winners.

wiseman - you are indeed a wise man!!

Saw your post, had a quick look at the chart, and then watched it blow through 4.30 in the blink of an eye!!  Got in at 4.42, higher than you and others, I presume, but we're already riding above that level now.

Cheers for the heads up!!  Looking forward to the run into earnings this week ;D ;D ;D

Just a question, seeing as you have run through earnings on this one before - do you expect/intend to "sell the news..."?

or do you think it will rip through on Friday as well, only asking about your previous experience, as to whether I should have my finger on the trigger???

Will be keeping a close eye on this oone, but you're right, I can't believe only 85,000 share were traded today!!!

wiseman,

todays end of day move was very strong as we both saw ;D

but I gotta put in a small word of caution for tomorrow.  GIGA topped out today at a long term descending trendline, so technically we are still in a descending channel.  We want to see GIGA break up from this level and hold its gain to confirm that this is indeed a strong breakout, which is certainly looks like its gonna be.  Otherwise we could see it pull back into the channel, heading back towards $4.

but I don't think it will....  here's the chart

What's your thoughts on GIGA today???  Almost no volume and static price action right now.  Yahoo MB seems to think that if it doesn't rip today it will after earnings -what's your take?  Perhaps we'll see a late day run up, but am not sure whether to hold for it right now.  Been badly burned by HYRF today and don't want more bad news.  Whaddya think???

Thanks wiseman.

Telling me after the close didn't help much.  I know it is my decision to hold or drop it, but I was hoping for some advice on whether to play it or not - you're posts were notably absent here over the last few days while you were going crazy over SIMC.  Personally I haven't played many of these low float stocks, and could have done with your help, but you seem to be finding a lot of them and pumping them up on 3SOF.  For give me if I'm wrong, but I have a feeling you are shouting about them under the alias BUULLZZEYE on the Yahoo MBs too.

Now I apologise to all reading this if it sounds like I'm justt mouthing off but after having lost my shirt on HYRF this morning, I really didn't want to lose 40% on GIGA this afternoon.  It's a shame no-one else here had anything constructive to provide, but for me, I'm through with these low float wonders for now. :P

A word of warning to everyone following wiseman's picks on the stock picking boards

Wiseman is systematically trying to pump low float stocks for his own purposes

He is using multiple aliases on the 3SOF boards, including but not restircted to slt2005 to simulate confirmation from other traders.  This has been confirmed to me by Frederick Ramsburg, as these registered names are residing at the same IP address.

Sure, some of his picks may go up in the short term, but having been burned badly on GIGA today, which was "a sure double", I am just putting this out there for other members to make their own decisions.

A word of warning Wiseman.  This kind of action will not be tolerated on these boards.  This is a strong, supportive community of traders who value each other's opinions, but also their integrity.  I ask you to stop using multiple aliases on the boards, and respect the prinicples that this site is based upon.  Sure, we're all here for personal gain, after all that is what trading is about, but I think you will find that people here are determined to do it in a way that supports, and in as much of a degree as is possible in the markets, look out for each other.  I am sure that everyone here would be happy to continue to hear about your picks if you do not use devious and fraudulent ways of promoting them.

Title: GIGA $1.32.....DEFENSE/SECURITY SECTOR...CRAMER LIKES SECTOR...BREAKING OUT!!
Post by: terabemo on July 17, 2006, 03:07:37 PM
ON FRIDAY EVENING CRAMER WAS PUMPING THE ENTIRE DEFENSE/SECURITY SECTOR IN HIS MAD MONEY CNBC SHOW.

GIGA IS BY FAR THE CHEAPEST AND MOST UNDERVALUED IN THE SECTOR.....

GIGA WITH ONLY 1.8M SHARE FLOAT....HAS GAINED $3/DAY BEFORE...TRADING BELOW EQUITY AND WORKING CAPITAL.

ONLY $6.4M MARKET CAP...$20M/YEAR REVENUES....CEO: GIGA WILL BE PROFITABLE THIS YEAR....TARGET $8+ THIS YEAR

GIGA, a defense/security industry provider, is likely to benefit from the current Middle East war and hightened worldwide security due to the recent terrorism threats. GIGA, with only 1.8M shares in the float, is trading well below owners' equity and working capital.

GIGA is explosive when news of contracts are announced. Last year it rose 93.4% after it announced a multiyear agreement with Boeing. The agreement calls for Giga-tronics' Microsource subsidiary to produce fast-tune synthesized filter systems for the F/A-18 E/F aircraft. The agreement, which is expected to run for five years, is worth between $7.6 million and $11.6 million.

Israel is one on GIGA's largest customers. During the last conference call held on July 31, 2006, the company CEO said that it expects to get orders from Israel and that Israel continues to be a bright spot for defense related sales.

On July 19, 2005, the company announced that it had received an order from the Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD) a contract valued at approximately $2.0 million for compact high performance synthesizers and VXI slots for use in military communications systems.

The company expects to win sizeble order starting in the current 2Q 2006 and in subesequent quarters. It does not take much revenue to produce net income because of a very low cost structure. GIGA has traded as high as $8++ last year when it was profitable. This is because the float is very small at 1.8M shares with about 4.6M total outstanding shares.

GIGA, with 72c/share cash, is cuttently trading below:

-- Owner's equity of $1.68/share

-- Working capital of $1.61/share

OTHER GIGA HIGHLIGHTS:

-- SUPER LOW FLOAT OF 1.8M SHARES

-- SALES OF 20M/year

-- MARKET CAP OF $6.4M

-- MAJOR CONTRACTS EXPECTED IN CURRENT 2Q AND CONTINUING THOUGH 3Q AND 4Q (PER JULY 31 CC)

-- PROFIT BY 4Q 2006 (PER JULY 31 CC)

-- ISRAEL "BRIGHT SPOT" AMONG DEFENSE CUSTOMERS (PER JULY 31 CC).

-- CO. EXPECTS SALES TO ISRAEL AS A RESULT OF ONGOING WAR IN MIDDLE EAST (PER JULY 31 CC)

ABOUT GIGA:

Giga-tronics (Nasdaq: GIGA) manufactures instruments, subsystems and microwave components used in the defense/national security and wireless telecommunications industries.

GIGA through its Microsource Inc., subsidiary sells components and provides technical supports to several types of Israeli aircraft[/b]. Microsurce Inc. develops and manufactures a line of yttrium, iron, garnet (YIG)-tuned oscillators, filters and microwave synthesizers. In addition to Israel, MicroSource has supplied the Defense Electronics market, supporting the world's leading Defense Contractors. MicroSource customers include Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon Systems, BAE Marconi, Thales, Swiss Defense Procurement Agency, as well as a myriad of defense industry sub-contractors.

Giga-tronics Instrument Division. Produces microwave frequency synthesizers, signal sources, generators, sweepers and power measurement instruments in benchtop and VXI configurations for use in cellular, PCS, radar, satellite and telecommunication systems test and measurement applications in the defense and private sectors.

ASCOR Inc., which produces switch modules and interface adapters that operate with a bandwidth from direct current (DC) to 18 GHz.

Title: Re: GIGA $2.1...Moving Ahead of Earnings This Month...Explosive Low Floater
Post by: rayongthai on January 03, 2007, 11:02:56 AM
GIGA, with less than 2M share float, could be a big winner after it reports fiscal 3Q 2007 earnings this month.

GIGA will announce its earnings date this week. The pps and volume are starting to go up in anticipation of earnings and the start of the "January effect."

http://stockcharts.com/charts/gallery.html?giga

I expect GIGA to behave like it did in 2005 when it went steadily from about $2 to over $8 (see lower weekly chart above). This is because the fundamentals have improved significantly in recent months since the company was reorganized and realigned (compared to the 2006 performance when the stock underperformed).

Back in October 2006, GIGA gained $1 to $2.6 after it announced its 2Q 2007 earnings results,  even though it posted a loss of over $400K. The loss, however, was significantly lower than the corresponding quarter the year before.

During the 2Q 2007 CC the CEO said that 3Q to be announced this month will be a lot stronger than 2Q and that it expects to break even.  He expects further improvement in Q4 predicting that GIGA will return to profitability.....just like it did in 2005. The 2Q 2007 CC is still available at the company website.

GIGA is currently trading at a P/S of 0.5. Competitors trade at an average 2.0 P/S.  Therefore, GIGA has a lot of room for upward movement to catch up with competetitors' valuations. GIGA's balance sheet remains strong.

About GIGA:

Giga-tronics Incorporated (Nasdaq: GIGA) engages in the design, manufacture, and marketing of various test and measurement equipment used in the development, test, and maintenance of wireless communications products and systems, flight navigational equipment, electronic defense systems, and automatic testing systems. Soxguy,

I have my HAUP shares tucked away util after 1Q 2007 earnings in Late February.  I am not a swing trader...I invest mid and long term. I buy low and sell high. My  HAUP cost basis is just a little over $5. My target price is $10+. Stocks go up and down on a daily basis. I am not worried about the current downtrend because the fundamentals are strong and can support higher prices.

GIGA could be a nice surprise in 2007. I suggest that you listen the last CC.....it's in the website. You can sense the new CEO's excitement about the short and long term prospects.

GIGA is ready to move up. See ya at $2.8 next week. Once the earnings day is announced, you will witness the power of GIGA. It reminds me a lot of HAUP when volume increases.

GIGA is GREAKING OUT!!!!

http://stockcharts.com/charts/gallery.html?GIGA

Keep an eye on GIGA. The company will announce it's 3Q earnings report date this week. I expect the stock to rally since guidance for the next two quarters is very bullish. In my opinion GIGA will behave just like it did 2 years ago when it went from $2 to over $8 (lower/weekly chart).

GIGA looking to move.  Careful GIGA is a thinly traded stock though and move in either direction quickly. ;)

http://stockcharts.com/charts/gallery.html?giga

ONLY 1.8M SHARE FLOAT....ONLY $6.4M MARKET CAP...$20M/YEAR REVENUES....BIG QUARTERLY EARNINGS COMING UP WITHIN 2 WEEKS.

Last month during the 4Q earnings release GIGA's CEO said that during fiscal 1Q 2008, to be reported within 2 weeks, it has won a large multi-million $$ contract that was originally expected to close in 2Q 2007.

Revenues have been increasing in recent quarters partly because of its successful recent agreement with Testmart (details below) is starting to show  positive results:

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/is?s=GIGA (http://finance.yahoo.com/q/is?s=GIGA)

Most of the loss reported last quarter, or fiscal 4Q 2007, was due to a one-time $361K reorganization charge aimed at reducing SG&A costs to get back into profitable territory.

Adding the large contract won during 1Q 2008 to the recent revenue uptrend, it is easy to see that the upcoming report will likely obliterate the $3.38M revenue (and a large loss of over $1M) posted in 1Q 2007.

Seasonally, GIGA's strongest quarter is the 2nd fiscal quarter because the government closes its books at the end of September and they usually like to spend the money approved for the year. This means that GIGA will enjoy at least 2 strong quarters and probably more because of new products recently released and work underway to reduce costs.

In December 2006, GIGA and test-and-measurement marketer TestMart announced a Government Services Administation (GSA) partnership agreement designed to cost-effectively bring Giga-tronics test equipment lines to government and military customers. The agreement authorizes TestMart to present a catalog of Giga-tronics' RF and microwave test equipment and government marketplace services to Federal customers as part of the GSA Multiple Award Schedules (MAS) managed by TestMart.

Here are some examples of GIGA's products sold through TestMart:

http://search.testmart.com/ (http://search.testmart.com/)

GIGA rose 93.4% after it announced a multiyear agreement with Boeing.

During the last conference call the company CEO said that it expects to get orders from Israel and that Israel continues to be a bright spot for defense related sales.

GIGA has traded as high as $8++ last year when it was profitable. This is because the float is very small at 1.8M shares with about 4.6M total outstanding shares.

The Giga Is Up.......
This has to be the most hotly anticipated earnings call since the Internet bubble.
Giga-tronics (GIGA)
Tiny producer of test and measurement equipment for the wireless-communications industry, announced late last Thursday it would release second-quarter earnings Oct. 30.

The stock surged 46% last Friday to a two-year high of $3.76. Volume was 6.7 million shares for a stock that typically trades less than 10,000 shares a day. On Monday, the stock hit an intraday high of $4.27, 69% higher than last Thursday, before closing down 15 cents, or 4% to $3.61 on volume of 1.9 million shares.

"On a normal basis, we don't give out any forward-looking information and nothing new has transpired," says Pat Lawlor, Giga-tronics chief financial officer. "I'm glad to see the stock go up, but there's no reason I know of."

It's possible that the San Ramon, Calif., company has done well, but not this well. The word on Wall Street is that day traders and message-board junkies are confused and have mixed up their tickers.

It just so happens a similar-sounding company, GigaMedia (GIGM)
received a big boost last Thursday when Bear Stearns began coverage of the stock with an outperform rating. On Thursday, GigaMedia's stock jumped 14% to $20.90 on volume of 2 million shares. Its average daily volume appears to be around 500,000 shares.

"It makes sense that it was a mix-up in the ticker," says Lon Juricic, editor of StreetInsider.com, a financial news Web site. "When you have a micro-cap stock that surges on no news, and the day before, a company with a similar name gets a nice boost from Bear Stearns, you can put two and two together."

Giga-tronics is on a bit of an upswing. The company says 70% of its business is government oriented. It sells products that airplane maker Boeing (BA) puts into its planes for the U.S. military.

For the fiscal year ended March 31, it posted a net loss of $1.9 million, or 39 cents a share, double the loss of $988,000, or 20 cents a share, the previous fiscal year. Annual revenue fell 12% to $18.0 million year over year. For its most recent quarter ended June 30, the company returned to profitability, earning $92,000, or 2 cents a share, reversing the year-earlier loss of $1.0 million, or 21 cents a share. Revenue jumped 37% to $4.6 million.

Surprisingly, the day after it announced a real profit, on July 31, the stock gained 20% on volume of just 129,620 shares. Not bad, but not the frenzy of Friday.

CFO Lawlor says the company's trends are positive after restructuring the business over the past year, which included reducing the staff by 20% and closing some facilities.

Keep an eye on GIGA $1.4. This is an explosive low floater....with only 2M shares on the float. 4Q and FY 2008 Earnings coming up.

This will be the first profitable year in three years. The restructuring that started a year ago is showing positive results already.

GIGA has reported 3 profitable quarters in a row.

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/is?s=GIGA (http://finance.yahoo.com/q/is?s=GIGA)

But I believe a big one is coming up. GIGA has recently won large contracts from the Harris Corp. and Boeing for defense and commercial applications. Both companies are doing great lately.....in fact most of the defense and national security sectors are very strong.

GIGA announced last quarter that it has entered the Asia market with an emphasis in China. With a very lean cost structure, GIGA could increase its bottom line significantly with new revenues coming from Asia.

GIGA provides all types of instrumentation for planes, rockets,  helicopters, tanks, submarines,  and land-based and wireless telecom applications.

Here is a recent interview with GIGA's CEO and CFO:

GIGA has a has a strong balance sheet and a small float of less than 2M shares. GIGA's market cap is only $7M

About GIGA:

GIGA will report 2Q and FY earnings AH today. First profitable year in 3 years. 2M share float. Radar it

GIGA is known to gain $2 to $4 after strong earnings. I believe we will see that again when the company reports fiscal 4Q and FY 2008 AH today

So far for 2008 GIGA has 6c/share net income vs. a loss of 29c/share last year. 2008 will be the first profitable year in 3 years thanks to a successful restructuring.

- 3 Profitable Quarters in a row.

- 2M share float. $9M Market Cap.

- Recent Significant Contracts with Boeing and Harris Corporation.

- Recent Expansion Into Asia with Emphasis in China.

- Recent Agreement Government with Government Services Administration.
