Title: CERS
Post by: Adam on June 28, 2005, 08:58:40 AM
Monday saw the break of an 8-week handle on modest volume. The move was supported by a resistance break in the MACD trigger line although on-balance-volume remained unchanged. There was no news to account for the breakout and there was no net change in the point-n-figure chart (which shows an extended decline from the glory days of $56 a share). GTC buy orders to $4.45 may be sufficient for a price fill but a move over $5 will set the momentum players alight, and a move to $6 will see a breakout on the point-n-figure chart. One to watch.

Profile:

Cerus Corporation develops products for cancer, infectious disease, and blood safety. It develops cancer immunotherapies based on its Listeria vaccine platform combined with disease antigens. The company is also developing the INTERCEPT Blood System, which is based on the company's Helinx technology for controlling biological replication. The INTERCEPT Blood System is designed to enhance the safety of donated blood components by inactivating viruses, bacteria, other pathogens, and white blood cells. This system targets and inactivates blood-borne pathogens, such as HIV and hepatitis B and C, as well as harmful white blood cells, while leaving the therapeutic properties of the blood components intact. Cerus is also developing a proprietary vaccine platform to stimulate the immune system to target and attack cancer cells and infectious diseases. The company has collaboration agreements with Baxter Healthcare Corporation and BioOne Corporation for the joint development of the INTERCEPT Blood System for platelets and plasma; and with MedImmune, Inc. to co-develop a therapeutic vaccine designed to treat cancers of the breast, prostate, and colon, as well as metastatic melanomas. Cerus was incorporated in 1991 and is based in Concord, California

Cerus Corp.- Relative Strength... it left a long white candlestick on the chart with above average volume ;)

New Recent 52 week high.
Another biotech that I like, experiencing good growth but is not profitable.
Therefore, its speculative in nature
Small-Cap growth company in the health care sector. Develops technologies to provide safer and more effective options to patients in areas with unmet medical needs, particularly within the fields of cancer, infectious disease and blood safety
Price-to-cash-flow ratio well below industry average.

BRIEF: For the nine months ended 30 September 2005, Cerus Corporation's revenues rose 71% to $18.8M. Net income totaled $17M vs. a loss of $25.8M. Revenues reflect increased development funding, government grants & cooperative agreement and the presence of product sales revenues. Net income also reflects decreased R&D expenses, absence of
restructuring expenses and presence of gain on loan settlement. http://www.ceruscorp.com

Happy b-day to you,Terlisa!
Wow, very nice b-cake Ramsburg :o :P
Great pick, CERS is good long term play!  Broke its 52 week high with decent volume, looks bullish!  However, I would say that it might get some slight profit taking days next week, if not with lighter volume, unless there is some signifcant news which will again send CERS higher!  So at this point, it is a bit extended but the momentum could be continue if the volume still there, good luck to all who is in this gem! 8)

Cerus Corporation engages in the research, development, clinical testing, and commercialization of blood safety systems, immunotherapies for cancer and infectious disease. It develops cancer immunotherapies based on its Listeria vaccine platform combined with disease antigens. The company also offers the INTERCEPT Blood System, which is based on the company's Helinx technology for controlling biological replication.

CERS bounced off an ascending trendline last week and has moved up on a slight increase in volume.  Yesterday's action was based on this news:

Cerus Corporation Receives Milestone Payment From BioOne (http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/061226/20061226005117.html?.v=1)

There is a lot of overhead resistance between 6.50 and 7.25 but technicals are improving with these nice rounded bottoms on RSI and Slow STO as well as an improving MACD and the confirmed support at the ascending TL.

I'm not sure where the new thread was started since there was already a post above mine from June, 2005.  Thanks for merging them though! ;D

Volume picked up again yesterday with some really nice buying volume in the afternoon before selling ensued.  Indicators continue to improve but watch for how CERS reacts first to the 20ma and then the 200ma (if it gets there).

Nice move yesterday on the anticipation of this news item announced after the closing:

Cerus Announces French Regulatory Approval of the INTERCEPT Blood System for Plasma (http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/070117/20070117005386.html?.v=1)

Up over 5% pre-market.
