I think the natural gas report was negative today so the stock is pulling back. It was off to the races before the report.
I'm glad I kept NGAS:

Form 10-Q/A for NGAS RESOURCES INC
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
12-Aug-2005
Quarterly Report
ITEM 2. MANAGEMENT'S DISCUSSION AND ANALYSIS OF
FINANCIAL CONDITION AND RESULTS OF OPERATIONS
* * *
RESULTS OF OPERATIONS
Revenues. Total revenues for the quarter ended March 31, 2005 were $20,010,246, an increase of 29% from $15,565,882 in the same quarter last year. Our revenue mix for the first quarter of 2005 was 83% contract drilling, 15% oil and gas production and 2% natural gas transmission and compression. For the first quarter of 2004, our total revenues were derived 92% from contract drilling, 5% from oil and gas production and 3% from natural gas transmission and compression activities.
Contract drilling revenues were $16,677,000 for the first quarter of 2005, up 16% from $14,326,125 in the first quarter of 2004. This reflects both the size and the timing of Drilling Program financings, from which we derive substantially all our contract drilling revenues. Upon the closing of Drilling Program financings, DPI receives the net proceeds from these financings as customers' drilling deposits under turnkey drilling contracts with the programs. We recognize revenues from drilling operations on the completed contract method as the wells are drilled, rather than when funds are received. Drilling operations for our 2004 year-end Drilling Program were ongoing during the first quarter of 2005, when we drilled 57 gross (16.7549 net) natural gas wells.
Production revenues were $2,875,788 for the first quarter of 2005, an increase of 263% from $791,289 in the first quarter of 2004. This reflects an increase of 175% in our production volumes to 396.8 Mmcfe in the first quarter of 2005 from 144.1 Mmcfe in the same quarter last year. Our growth in production volumes resulted from new wells brought on line since March 31, 2004 and wells added from property acquisitions in the second half of 2004. The growth in production revenues also reflects a 32% increase in our average sales price of natural gas (before certain transportation charges) to $7.26 per Mcf in the first quarter of 2005 from $5.51 per Mcf in same quarter last year, reflecting continued strength in natural gas prices. Principal purchasers of our natural gas production are gas marketers and customers with transmission facilities near our producing properties. During the first quarter of 2005, approximately 45% of our natural gas production was sold under fixed-price contracts and the balance primarily at prices determined monthly under formulas based on prevailing market indices.
Gas transmission and compression revenues were $457,458 during the first quarter of 2005, up 2% from $448,468 in the first quarter of 2004. This reflects continued reliance on our own gathering systems for our new wells, generating transmission and compression revenues from the Drilling Programs, net of our working interests in those wells. During the first quarter of 2005, we extended our natural gas gathering systems for new wells by approximately 29 miles. Our gas transmission and compression revenues for the first quarter of 2005 also reflect a contribution of $149,141 from gas utility sales, up 29% from $115,752 in the same quarter last year.
Expenses. Total direct expenses increased by 25% to $13,521,410 for the first quarter of 2005 compared to $10,829,240 for the first quarter of 2004. Our direct expense mix for the current reported quarter was 91% contract drilling, 6% oil and gas production and 3% natural gas transmission and compression. For the first quarter of 2004, our total direct expenses were incurred 93% in contract drilling, 3% in oil and gas production and 4% in natural gas transmission and compression.
Contract drilling expenses were $12,369,805 during the first quarter of 2005, an increase of 22% from $10,135,062 in the same quarter last year. This primarily reflects the substantial level of drilling activities on behalf of our sponsored Drilling Programs and an increase in the average depth of our new wells. The greater well depth adds incrementally to variable costs for outside contractors, well completion complexities and expenditures and steel casing requirements, prices for which have increased substantially. In response to these developments, we increased the price established for drilling and completing new wells under turnkey drilling contracts for our most recent Drilling Programs.
Production expenses were $758,821 in the first quarter of 2005, compared to $285,312 in the same quarter last year, reflecting our substantial growth in production volumes. In addition to lifting costs, production expenses include field operating and maintenance costs, related overhead, third-party transportation fees and lease operating
expenses. As a percentage of oil and gas production revenues, production expenses decreased to 26% in the first quarter of 2005 from 36% in the same quarter last year.
Gas transmission and compression expenses in the first quarter of 2005 were $392,784, compared to $408,866 in the same quarter last year. As a percentage of gas transmission and compression revenues, these expenses decreased to 76% in the current reported quarter from 91% in the first quarter of 2004, reflecting economies of scale and field operating efficiencies. Gas transmission and compression expenses do not reflect capitalized costs of $1,506,427 in the first quarter of 2005 for extensions of our gas gathering systems and additions to dehydration and compression capacity required to bring new wells on line.
Selling, general and administrative ("SG&A") expenses were $3,506,825 in the first quarter of 2005, an increase of 10% from $3,185,518 in the same quarter last year, primarily reflecting the timing and extent of our selling and promotional costs for sponsored Drilling Programs. The higher SG&A expenses for the first quarter of 2005 also reflect costs for supporting expanded operations as a whole, including additions to our staff and technology infrastructure as well as increased salary and other employee related expenses. With the expansion of our operations, we also achieved various economies of scale, reflected by a decrease in SG&A expenses as a percentage of total revenues to 17% in the current reported quarter compared to 20% in the first quarter of 2004.
Beginning in 2004, we adopted the fair value method of accounting for employee stock options. Under the new method, employee stock options are valued at the grant date using the Black-Scholes valuation model, and the compensation cost is recognized ratably over the vesting period. In addition to an accrual of $109,038 for deferred compensation costs, we recognized $143,570 in the first quarter of 2005 from fair value accounting for employee stock options, compared to $30,074 in the same quarter last year.
Depreciation, depletion and amortization ("DD&A") was $1,046,555 in the first quarter of 2005, compared to $206,111 in the same quarter of 2004. The increase in DD&A reflects additions of $48.0 million to oil and gas properties and $6.3 million to gas gathering systems and well equipment since March 31, 2004.
Interest expense for the first quarter of 2005 was $508,753, compared to $89,168 in the first quarter of 2004. This reflects higher total debt to support our SME acquisition in October 2004, when we added $14.7 million of bank debt and $6.1 million of convertible debt, together with our most recent convertible note financing of $8.0 million to support ongoing drilling and gas gathering initiatives. See "Liquidity and Capital Resources" below.
We recognized income tax expense of $618,501 in the first quarter of 2005, all of which was recorded as a future tax liability. This primarily reflects a 15% allocation of intangible drilling costs from our Drilling Programs, which reduces our cash outlays that would otherwise be required for current income taxes.
Net Income. We realized net income of $737,066 for the first quarter of 2005, compared to $767,241 in the first quarter of 2004, reflecting the foregoing factors. Basic earnings per share were $0.05 based on 15,689,872 weighted average common shares outstanding in the first quarter of 2005, compared to $0.06 per share based on 12,052,183 weighted average common shares outstanding in the same quarter last year.
The results of operations for the quarter ended March 31, 2005 are not necessarily indicative of results to be expected for the full year.

Annual Report
Item 6. Management's Discussion and Analysis of Financial Condition and Results
of Operations
* * * Liquidity and Capital Resources
Liquidity. Net cash provided by our operating activities in 2004 was $7,267,556. Our cash position during 2004 was decreased by the use of $52,691,249 in investing activities, reflecting net additions of $53,755,431 to our oil and gas properties. These investments were funded in part with proceeds from institutional private placements of our common stock and convertible notes and from bank borrowings. See "Capital Resources" below. As a result of these activities, net cash decreased from $22,594,993 at December 31, 2003 to $11,849,372 at December 31, 2004.
Net cash provided by our operating activities in 2003 was $11,718,804. Our cash position during 2003 was increased by $12,570,183 from financing activities, consisting primarily of proceeds from the issuance of our common shares and convertible notes. Our cash position was decreased by the use of $8,725,301 in investing activities, comprised primarily of $7,346,345 in net additions to our oil and gas properties and $1,341,701 in the purchase of property and equipment. As a result of these activities, cash and cash equivalents increased from $7,031,307 at December 31, 2002 to $22,594,993 as of December 31, 2003.
As of December 31, 2004, we had a working capital deficit of $3,266,571. This reflects wide fluctuations in our current assets and liabilities from the timing of customers' deposits and expenditures under turnkey drilling contracts with our Drilling Programs. Since these fluctuations are normalized over relatively short time periods, we generally do not consider working capital to be a reliable measure of liquidity. The working capital deficit at the end of 2004 is not expected to have an adverse effect on our financial condition or results of operations in future periods.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Table of Contents
Capital Resources. Our business involves significant capital requirements. The rate of production from oil and gas properties generally declines as reserves are depleted. Without successful development activities, our proved reserves would decline as oil and gas is produced from our proved developed reserves. Our long term performance and profitability is dependent not only on developing existing oil and gas reserves, but also on our ability to find or acquire additional reserves on terms that are economically and operationally advantageous. To fund our ongoing reserve development and acquisition activities, we have relied on a combination of cash flows from operations, bank borrowings and private placements of our convertible notes and equity securities, as well as participation by outside investors in our sponsored Drilling Programs.
We completed two institutional private placements of common stock during both 2004 and 2003. The terms of these financings are summarized in the following table:
Per Share
Number of Subscription
Closing Date Shares Issued Price Proceeds
June 13, 2003 900,000 $ 2.85 $ 2,565,000
December 31, 2003 1,303,335 4.50 5,865,000
April 28, 2004 975,000 5.98 5,832,450
November 2, 2004 279,330 5.37 1,500,000
Total 3,457,665 $ 15,762,450
The proceeds from these equity financings and from convertible note financings described below have been allocated primarily to construction of gas gathering lines and our investments in sponsored Drilling Programs. See "Business - Gas Gathering Facilities" and " - Drilling Programs." A portion of the proceeds from the second equity financing in 2003 were received immediately after year end, resulting in the issuance of all the shares covered by the financing in January 2004 and their classification as common shares to be issued at December 31, 2003.

Where oil seems to have peaked, natural gas has plenty to go. ENY is a low priced oil & gas company with great potential.
http://finance.yahoo.com/q?d=v1&s=ENY
With NGS hitting the top of the !BD 100 and a new high, investors are going to look for companies like ENY and NGAS as NG prices escalate - as they do every winter to heat homes.
http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=ngas
With NGS #1 on the IBD 100 and hitting a new high, investors are looking for the next natural gas winner. NGS makes compression pumps to get the gas out of the ground. While oil has reached its high (after the War and the storms down south, I cannot think of anything worse that can happen to oil in the immediate future) natural gas is still relatively low priced. With winter approaching and many homes being heated with ng, I think that prices will rise and demand will increase.
NGAS has a beautiful chart and is worth at least another few dollars.
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/pr?s=NGAS
I have watched this increase gradually and am certain it is a stock on fire.
Moving on up...... ;D

I really wish there would be a smart way to index the topics here. But I don't know how it should be done?

A good looking day for this one again. ;D
Keep an eye on this tomorrow morning gang. Cramer slammed this one on his show this evening for running too high during the lightning round.
Cramer is a GOOD guy!
When he "slams" one of my favorite stock all I have to do is to sit and wait for a while, and then I can pick up more at bargain-price! ;D
Thank you, Cramer!
Possbile gap up because of Cramer.
Looks like we are getting a bounce after a
Fibonacci 38.2% retracement.
just confirmed a new ascending trendline too ;D ;D ;D
I think NGAS is set to run some more in the coming weeks - now might be a good time to get in ;)
Will have to see if it pulls back just a little today (maybe it won't though)
Good luck all who held through the sell off, I'm sure it'll be testing recent highs again soon
After the dip, moving north again.
+7.53%......Volume @ 775,202
These three stocks have made signifcant gains in the past months. They all seem to be at the end of their correction with n.gas futures falling a bit, but I think we have winter now and prices should start to move back up. Keep these on watch as they may begin to head north again.
NGAS, TXCO and EP.
I sure hope you are right, saffey!
It would be nice to see some green numbers soon...
I'm holding:
CHK
FPP
NGAS
SYNM (I bought this after the tremendous fall it took recently.)
And they are all in the red.
It is ugly...but like you, I think winter approaching will help a bit.
Sold SYNM, but I'm very happy with NGAS and CHK today! :D
FPP is struggeling a bit, but I think it'll be all right.
NGAS starting to show signs of a bottom. Notice the volume drying up. Selling pressure is obviously easing a bit... currently testing 53 day ma ;) (Yes I meant 53 - http://www.craftytrader.com/press/articles/article.php?article_id=9)
"Beware" the soft area...could see gap fill like action and a retest of LT upsloping support. Should it come to that I would DEFINATELY be a buyer...
NVAX testing downsloping resistance.... Looks like its "getting frisky" with some buying interest showing.
NGAS looks perfectly set up - nice test of support line yesterday and break of descending trendline today jumped back above the 500A too ;D ;D
Didn't buy in, but it looks like a pretty safe play to me, esp. as it has had big momo before, same people may be looking to hop on again ???
Any other thoughts?
This has taken a bounce off the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement.

But the "more relevant" threads were much less relevant than this one. I'm wondering if I type NGAS enough if it will pop this thread's relevance rating to the top. I think NGAS is ready for a pop so I think this thread will get busy again soon.

I just went back and ran the search again, and my theory was wrong. I wonder what determines the % relevance of a thread? Will have to check with Ramsburg.
Anyway, I bought NGAS today near the close. It broke through the upper trendline of the descending channel, MACD is turning positive/crossing over, and I like the way it closed above the center BB.
I bought in this week again too. The cold weather brings to mind the importance of ng which is still relatively cheap compared to oil. For a similar break above the trendline of a descending channel, look at NGS. They make and service pumps for ng drilling - which will increase as the demand increases.
I bought in last week at 10.10$!
Nice HOD close yesterday, chart is turning bullish here after a downtrend, MACD moving up and RSI went through 50!
NGAS looking good today, all the reports about cold weather coming up surely help! :)
How about a recent headline. "NGAS Reports 80% Increase in Third Quarter 2005 Revenue"
All of these stocks,NGAS, NGS, CHK, have a rising RSI, Rising Money Flow, Stochastics going from over sold to over bought, but as we know they can stay overbought for a long time, MACD slow/fast crossover occurred, and the histogram has turned positive.

Fundamentals are stronger, and growing.
Stay the course, NGAS has already tested $15.00 and will again.
P/E is horrendously ridiculous, if you question this?
The rise of NGAS despite their high P/E ratio is due to their *ridiculously* small float. Does anyone know of any other stock like this one? There are only 14-16 million outstanding shares.
After all, it is, William J. O'Neil , author of the book, "How To Make Money In Stocks". That teaches that P/E ratio have very little to do with whether a stock should be bought or not. A stock's P/E ratio is not normally an important cause of the most successful stock moves.

NGAS 4Q Profit Drops on Flat Revenue
Monday March 13, 5:07 pm ET
NGAS Resources 4th-Quarter Profit Falls Short of Wall Street Targets, Shares Drop Aftermarket
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- NGAS Resources Inc. on Monday said fourth-quarter profit declined on weaker revenue from the company's core contract drilling segment, partially offset by a rise in sales of oil and gas.
The results came in shy of Wall Street's expectations, and shares retreated 54 cents, or 6.3 percent, to $8.03 in aftermarket electronic trading. The stock closed up 29 cents to $8.57 on the Nasdaq.
Earnings dropped to $564,145, or 3 cents per share, from $619,009, or 5 cents per share, in the year-earlier quarter. Excluding a $900,000 gain on the sale of a royalty interest in the 2004 quarter, NGAS would have posted a loss of 2 cents per share.
Sales were roughly flat at $15.7 million year over year, as revenue from contract drilling services slid 30 percent to $8.9 million.
Meanwhile, NGAS generated higher sales from oil and gas production, up to $5.7 million from $2.5 million a year ago. The company's production volume rose 41 percent to 509.5 million cubic feet of equivalent.
Analysts polled by Thomson Financial expected the company to post higher earnings of 5 cents per share on $19.5 million in sales.
Earnings in 2005 fell to $952,756, or 5 cents per share, from $1.61 million, or 10 cents per share, in 2004. The per-share results were affected by a rise in the number of shares outstanding to 19.1 million from 16.5 million.
Annual sales surged to $62.2 million from $48 million in the prior year.
NGAS provides contract drilling services and explores for natural gas primarily in the Appalachian Basin.
NGAS comes up short,fourth-quarter net income was $564,000, or 3 cents a share, down from $619,000, or 4 cents a share, during the same period last year.
The natural gas developer said quarterly revenue was $15.7 million, down from $15.73 million last year. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call had expected revenue of $20 million.
Does look like it picked up nice support on the dip to the $8.00 area.

I donnot have time to post charts and all the goodies. But in short, Nat. gas has bottomed out and so have all the small cap nat. gas stocks. Look to get into:NGAS, CSPLF, SYNM and HAWK.
Also as an added bonus: one beaten up oil rig stock that has hit bottom: PKD.
These are ready to start moving up. The old saying "buy low and sell high".
If this summer is HOT and the winter is COLD, natural gas will be @ $12 +++ :o
I am not so sure about 12+++,although I have lot of investment in Nat.Gas I think we will be looking at 8-9 dollars per MCF going into summer.
I fully agree.......
ABP is the Nat gas play IMHO..............
Market experiencing some needed correction to the upside................Way oversold.
The good news is, the winners will prevail with consolidation and true earnings growth.....
So, the buzz is that ABP has hit the motherload in west texas, with recent insider buying, energy sector being really hot, a NAV of $9 and CK Cooper price target of $9............well lets just say, if the rumors are true...........see ya at $10.00+
Profile: NGAS Resources, Inc., through its subsidiaries, engages in the development and production of natural gas in the United States. It primarily operates in the southern Appalachian Basin. As of December 31, 2005, the company had 73,253,992 thousands of cubic feet of proved natural gas reserves and 328,696 barrels of crude oil reserves. It also constructs and maintains gas gathering systems for its wells; operates natural gas distribution facilities for two communities in Kentucky; operates a gas gathering system connecting natural gas supply basins; and owns inactive gold and silver prospects in Alaska.

Trading Idea:
NGAS was developing an ascending triangle for a while, and yesterday it breakout the top and resistance with volume 4X above average.
Yesterday's rally could be also explained by the strong rally on Natural Gas Futures, and expectations of a supply disruption on the Gulf of Mexico with the hurricane season. Nevertheless NGAS is usually very «technical» on its moves and its current chart pattern is very charming despite of the «official» rumours behind the move (Also, the Natural Gas Futures are currently in Bull mode).
From another technical perspective, NGAS had also a breakout of the long term descending resistance, and a few months ago tested the long term support near $7.00, this all combined gives us a great technical outlook for both the short an long term time frames, so we expect NGAS to begin a nice bullish swing over the next weeks.
We are buying NGAS today, even taking the risk of a throwback to the breakout area.
Trading Plan:
We'll buy NGAS today @ or near the open.
Regard,
Breaking out....
I think NGAS is going steadily higher.

Update:
Interesting session, NGAS opened with a big gap up, closing the gap later and showing the necessary strength to close near the highs of the day and above the open (performing a Hammer Candlestick), volume was even higher than the day before, giving a special strength to this pattern.
Taking also in consideration that Natural Gas futures were down considerably during the session and the fact that NGAS managed to perform this climb, this gives an extra relative strength to the pot, and shows that yesterday's big move as not totally related with the Natural Gas picture which is good (Natural Gas Futures are already up +3.5% overnight anyway).
This hammer suggests continuation for the next session...lets wait.
Trading Plan:
Hold NGAS with a stop @ $8.20

rambsburg: are you going to hold NGAS through earnings?
Hi magu ! Thanks for your input, I've been thinking about that, but I don't think we'll hold NGAS through the earnings (we'll probably sell Monday or Tuesday morning). In this case, the earnings are probably another catalyst for the current bull move, so even with good news we should expect the «sell the news» scenario or at least some crazy volatility.
Update:Another interesting day for NGAS... after a strong open with another gap up, NGAS breakout another resistance (9.40, April's high) and was able to continue climbing making a new relative high at $9.75. At mid session NGAS was punched by some selling pressure, but near the close it was able to recover again to higher ground (NGAS was already up 1% in after hours trading), this behaviour combined with an even higher volume shows a lot of strength and momentum in this play.
At this time, we'll have a limit sell order in place at $10.50, the updated trading plan is:
Trading Plan:Hold NGAS with a stop @ $8.20 and a Limit Sell order @ $10.50Regards,
I am in at $9 now that there seems to be some recovery from the natural gas inventory numbers that were release about an hour ago.
Update:
Big correction for NGAS today...
Technically speaking this should be a retest move to the breakout area (support near $8.60s) after the last 3 strong candles, which is normal. The Natural Gas Futures had also a considerable correction to the support area today.
We expect NGAS to hold above the $8.60s and get back up fast, we'll keep the same plan for now.
Trading Plan:
Hold NGAS with a stop @ $8.20 and a Limit Sell order @ $10.50

Update:
NGAS just retested the breakout level and the ema-200 at $8.60.

Update:
A few interesting things about NGAS's last session:
- NGAS managed to have a strong session even with a big drop on the Natural Gas Futures.
- Yesterday's candle was a hammer, suggesting a reversal and continuation.
- The low of the day was a perfect retest to the old descending resistance top of a big triangular formation (now a support), and at the same time the short term ascending support line.
- The volume was low, but personally I look it as a bullish signal this time, showing that even with less buying pressure this stock is capable of closing near the highs, against the broad market and the Natural Gas Futures (both down).
- NGAS closed the after hours trading up 1.12%
With all this new inputs the risk reward ratio changed for this position, so we'll be keeping the same trading plan through the earnings. Anybody uncomfortable with holding NGAS through the earnings will most likely have the chance to sell NGAS at or above our entry price today (we expect continuation from yesterday's candle).
Trading Plan:
Hold NGAS with a stop @ $8.20 and a Limit Sell order @ $10.50

It'll probably tank tomorrow...although its up in AH. I'm in at 9.12 and 8.98 (Coverdell).
NGAS Reports Record Second Quarter 2006 Production up 67%; Gas Transmission and Compression Revenue Increases 376%; EPS of $0.03 As Compared to ($0.03) in 2Q 2005
NGAS today reported total revenue of $18.3 million in the second quarter 2006, a 60 percent increase over the comparable quarter last year. The growth in total revenue was driven by a strong performance across all businesses, notably a 376 percent increase in gas transmission and compression revenue and a 69 percent increase in oil and gas revenue. Oil and gas revenue grew from higher production volumes, while gas transmission revenue benefited from the acquisition of the Stone Mountain gathering system from Duke Energy Gas Services, LLC in March 2006.
Net income in second quarter 2006 was $722,953 versus a loss of $535,652 in second quarter 2005. Earnings per fully diluted share were $0.03 for the second quarter of 2006 compared to ($0.03) in the second quarter of 2005. Weighted average fully diluted shares outstanding for the second quarter 2006 were 22,919,707 compared to 16,005,158 in the second quarter of 2005...
Update:
NGAS reported earnings above the analyst's consensus; the stock had a strange volatile session, in part because of the broad market session also very erratic and volatile.
- NGAS Reports Record Second Quarter 2006 Production up 67% (http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/060808/20060808005864.html?.v=1)
NGAS was up in after hours trading, and natural gas futures are up again overnight (+2.12%).
The technical setup is still very attractive, a breakout + retest with volume and mid term reversal pattern in play, and we'll keep the same trading plan.
Trading Plan:
Hold NGAS with a stop @ $8.20 and a Limit Sell order @ $10.50
Regards,
Update:
NGAS still trading above the breakout level, volatility is high, but the reversal pattern is still alive. We'll keep the same plan for now:
Trading Plan:
Hold NGAS with a stop @ $8.20 and a Limit Sell order @ $10.50
Regards,
Update:
Not a good session for NGAS, dropping a bit below the breakout level. The only positive thing about yesterday's move was the fact it didn't trade below $8.43 (the previous relative low). This is a volatile chart, with a lot of «price noise»; the overall reversal pattern is still there, so the best we can do is to hold to our plan.
Trading Plan:

Natural gas as a general commodity went down yesterday by between 5 and 7% at the various times I looked, dont know where it ended, but NGAS seemed to hold up fairly well given that. The initial drop in oil also seemed to have something to do with that drop in natural gas, but oil started to rally yesterday, so maybe natural gas will too today.
But yeah, in any case NGAS is a very volatile stock compared to anything else I own right now.

Hi Tokyopua,
You're right, NGAS is having some kind of relative strength against the NG futures, which is good.
Update:
Finally a bullish reaction after a few days testing the breakout level. NGAS is showing some strength now even with the Natural Gas futures performing poorly.

We're glad to see NGAS above $9 again, even with the Natural Gas futures consolidating near the short term lows.
Looking to the bigger picture (second chart), we can have a clear vision of the current technical outlook and the reversal pattern in place. We'll keep the same plan for now.
Trading Plan:
Hold NGAS with a stop @ $8.20 and a Limit Sell order @ $10.50
Update:
Not much to had since the last update... NGAS is still trading above the breakout area, volume has dropped in the last few sessions but NGAS is holding pretty well near $9. This looks like a consolidation, the main bullish signal is still alive in the charts, so we'll wait for developments with the same trading plan.
Trading Plan:
Hold NGAS with a stop @ $8.20 and a Limit Sell order @ $10.50

Could be that, or just increased interest in the stock because of all the storms brewing in the Carribean now that could impact natural gas supply. In any case, the stock looks very bullish here ;D
I am curious Setravis about the cool format you always present stocks information in, what service are you quoting, is it an IBD thing or something?

Yes it was... its a breakout ;)

Yep, NGAS is up more than 2% in the pre market, I'm not sure I like a gap up here, but with all the volatility NGAS is having the gap will most likely be closed intraday.
Update:
Well... finally a breakout from this consolidation zone. NGAS is now gaining momentum again, acting very strong against the market and the Natural Gas Futures.
Also in attach (second chart), the Natural Gas Futures, that are also breaking out.
Let's keep the same plan.

Hi JKN,
I'm not sure what was that, but probably just a «bug» ;)
Anyway, NGAS did great today !
Update:
NGAS did well last Friday, reaching new relative highs with high volume. But today we are about to see a gap down and some selling pressure (NGAS is down pre market), mainly because of Ernesto hurricane, and short term speculation about it (Ernesto was downgraded and will probably not affect the Gulf of Mexico as some short term traders were expecting).
We believe this is not much relevant for the main setup here, and we expect NGAS to hold above its new ascending support ($9) after this short term «noise».
Trading Plan:
Hold NGAS with a stop @ $8.20 and a Limit Sell order @ $10.50
Update:
NGAS opened with a big Gap down today and suffered a strong sell off during the first minutes of trading. During the rest of the session NGAS recovered and closed steadily above $9.00.
Despite this ugly candle, the abandoned baby setup and the fall down in Natural Gas futures, this all seems to be another take of price noise caused by irrelevant news to the stock (Hurricane Ernesto), the bullish technical setup is still present on the chart, and we have no reasons to drop this position. We expect NGAS to continue to trade above the initial breakout level and to break into new highs, volatility should stay high.
Trading Plan:
Hold NGAS with a stop @ $8.20 and a Limit Sell order @ $10.50
Regards,
Update:
NGAS shares are experiencing difficult days, the Natural Gas futures went down a lot, and some insiders are selling stock recently. With that said I'm wondering why didn't we get stopped yet and why is still NGAS above the breakout zone?
Technically speaking, NGAS is showing a lot of relative strength against an aggressive environment for the stock. I'm not expecting the Natural Gas futures to drop much more, and I can't see a worst scenario coming in, so we'll keep the same plan here.
Trading Plan:
Hold NGAS with a stop @ $8.20 and a Limit Sell order @ $10.50
Regards,
Update:
We're still apprehensive about this position, NGAS price development has not occur as we planned, especially because of a big sell off on the Natural Gas futures.
We bought NGAS on August 1st, and Natural Gas futures dropped from 8.60 back then to 5.91 right now, meanwhile NGAS was able to hold above its support (the breakout level at 8.60) and not to perform new short term lows, showing a lot of relative strength. This is the main reason why we are still holding this position, as we think NGAS has full potential to move higher and its showing a lot of strength, but is being limited by a bad performance in Natural Gas futures.
Trading Plan:
Hold NGAS with a stop @ $8.20 and a Limit Sell order @ $10.50
Regards,
Took the stop out... ???
Position closed @ $8.20 (following the trading plan)
Out at $8.23... :(

Double Bottom (Reversal) Pattern
The double bottom is a major reversal pattern that forms after an extended downtrend. As its name implies, the pattern is made up of two consecutive troughs that are roughly equal, with a moderate peak in-between.
Although there can be variations, the classic double bottom usually marks an intermediate or long-term change in trend. Many potential double bottoms can form along the way down, but until key resistance is broken, a reversal cannot be confirmed.
It is important to remember that the double bottom is an intermediate to long-term reversal pattern that will not form in a few days. Even though formation in a few weeks is possible, it is preferable to have at least 4 weeks between lows. Bottoms usually take longer than tops to form and patience can often be a virtue. Give the pattern time to develop and look for the proper clues. The advance off of the first trough should be 10-20%. The second trough should form a low within 3% of the previous low and volume on the ensuing advance should increase. Volume indicators such as Chaikin Money Flow, OBV and Accumulation/Distribution can be used to look for signs of buying pressure. Just as with the double top, it is paramount to wait for the resistance breakout. The formation is not complete until the previous reaction high is taken out.

Fundamental Case:
I used to have two stocks related to $NATGAS, but GW was sold with a profit as planned. When I added SD to the TM Portfolio, if you recall, I was in doubt between SD and NGAS, but finally opted for the largest company.
SD wasn't a bad bet, since it is up 7.1%, but NGAS was up a bit more, 11.3% over the same period.
As you know, $NATGAS is in a bullish mode:
But, besides this obviously positive catalyst for NGAS, there's another:
Action
NGAS Resources is now producing gas from three horizontal wells in eastern Kentucky, and has just commenced drilling the 5 th well in its 6 well horizontal program. The first well has been on-line since April 2nd, with production ranging between 350-420 Mcfd, in-line with our pre-drill expectations and supporting our thesis that horizontal drilling could add up to $5.50 per share of upside, or more than double current NAV.
Key Points
• NGAS is rapidly drilling and completing its initial tranche of 6 horizontal
wells in the Leatherwood area of eastern Kentucky. The company began drilling
the 5th well in the program on April 25th and expects to have all six drilled and
stimulated by mid-May. The first well has been on-line for more than three weeks,
the second and third wells have been producing for a week to 10 days, and
stimulation operations on the fourth well is set to begin this week.
• The initial well has been producing in the range of 350-420 Mcfd since early
April, which is in-line with pre-drill expectations, which were modeled on a
Equitable type horizontal well with an average initial 30 day rate of 400 Mcfd
generating 1 Bcf reserves. As we noted in our initial report, using fairly
conservative assumptions, NGAS horizontal drilling upside is significant,
including 170 Bcf of net reserve potential and $5.50/share of asset value
upside in a company with only 105 Bcf of proved reserves and $5/share of NAV.
• Implications: Positive, particularly given the rates seen on the first well, and the
company is well along the way to finishing its six well program in May. The next
news is anticipated at the May 8th conference call, followed by an analyst meeting
in the field a few weeks later. We reiterate our Buy rating.
Valuation
Investors need to remain focused on the horizontal upside, which we calculate
at roughly $5.50 per share, assuming that less than half of the Leatherwood area is
drillable. Our $10.50 price target is based on asset build-up, which includes not only
the horizontal upside but also $5 per share of YE07 NAV (proved reserves valued
at $7.50 gas, less debt plus midstream assets).
Risks
Risks include: 1) the outcome of NGAS' horizontal shale drilling program in eastern
Kentucky 2) significant declines in oil or natural gas prices and 3) delays or
production problems at major projects
Company Description
NGAS Resources, Inc, headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky is a small independent E&P company focused on unconventional natural gas basins in the eastern United States, mainly Appalachia, that support repeatable drilling in multi-pay reservoirs. NGAS proved reserves totaled 105 Bcfe as of year-end 2007 of which approximately 46% were proved developed. The company's reserves are primarily natural gas and located in the southern portion of the Appalachian basin, one of the oldest and most prolific US natural gas producing areas. NGAS' positions includes its core Leatherwood asset, its interests in the Arkoma - CDX coalbed methane project and its Stone Mountain (SME) fields, Amvest and Martins Fork.

NGAS has been very volatile, but the trend is positive now. I think one can place a relatively safe buy around current levels, aiming for $10 plus (given the fundamental outlook) and with a stop on close below the $6.39 support level.
Trading Plan:
Buy NGAS around the open. Take profits at $10. Sell with a small loss if the stock is set to close below $6.39.
NGAS fell 2.9% yesterday due to $NATGAS 4.3% drop.
However, another analyst came out with a $11 price target (full report attached below), due to new explorations and higher $NATGAS prices (the $11 NAV and price target was still calculated using $WTIC at $86.7 and $NATGAS at $9.78 and they're considerably higher now).
Hmm, I guess my stop loss is too tight, given the stock is technically overbought (whatever that means), so I'll adjust a bit, using the ascending 50 days SMA as a trigger instead of the $6.39 horizontal support.
Trading plan for NGAS:
Take profits at $10. Sell with a small loss if the stock is set to close below $5.95.
Trading plan for NGAS:
Take profits at $10. Sell with a small loss if the stock is set to close below $5.96.
NGAS was overbought when I bought it and needed a pullback (unfortunately these things are somewhat unpredictable) and maybe there's some more work to do on that chart to design a bullish pattern, but analysts are unanimous, there was a very significant and material fundamental development within the company which more than doubled its value, not even counting with the rise in $NATGAS prices.
All analysts have price targets north of $10 for NGAS. I've attached a good analysis which explains the change in fundamentals for NGAS and the analyst places a $13 price target on the stock.
Trading plan for NGAS:
Take profits at $10. Sell with a small loss if the stock is set to close below $5.97.
Trading plan for NGAS:
Take profits at $10. Sell with a small loss if the stock is set to close below $5.98.
If NGAS does not hold the $6.39 mark, it will quickly reazch $6, imho.
Hey Berloga, how's it going? I think your glass is half empty when looking at NGAS ;)
NGAS is technically looking great. More time than price consolidation over the past few sessions after a strong move off the lows since end of March, sitting just above key support in the $6.00 zone, in a market leading sector. Combined with strong fundamentals it's a great looking set up.
All things being equal I am expecting NGAS to breakout and continue past the recent highs of $7 in the next few sessions or so. I will be adding NGAS to one of my own portfolio's probably today (Tuesday).
Hi guys
If I'm going to buy this stock Then I would buy it today on the open :)
It's really cool , probably we'll see 30% in a few days .. In addition to the nice technical setup , OIL will probably make a new high today ..
nice pick David

Yes, probably. But so far NGAS held $6.39 on close, so this support level remains valid.
Hi Aussie and Garoh, I'm glad you guys also like NGAS. I believe the fundamental case is very clear and undoubtedly points to significantly higher prices.
1Q 2008 results will be out on Thursday. Maybe the conference call (which will have information on how the new $NATGAS wells are going, currently available just to the people who pay for professional research) will be the catalyst to push NGAS to new highs significantly above $7.
Trading plan for NGAS:Take profits at $10. Sell with a small loss if the stock is set to close below $5.99.
I like the natural gas industry presently. There is a big demand for it across the globe. I own NGAS shares. I just want to foresee the technical action on the stock so that any plausible outcome does not take me by surprise, other than an extraordinary one.

Look at that chart now, volume was the highest in more than 11 months, at 916,500 shares. Results will be released tomorrow after the close. Maybe the update on the new explorations will be a catalyst to move NGAS towards $10 over the short term.

the plan remains:
Take profits at $10. Sell with a small loss if the stock is set to close below $6.01.

Indeed, it happened. Any reason for selling before earnings, besides fear of missing the profits?
I think there's a good chance that I may take profits around $10 tomorrow, because the company's new horizontal drilling program will be widely known at tomorrow's conference call.

Update:
Here’s a Research Note for NGAS published by Broadpoint last Friday, commenting the results among other subjects:
(http://img104.imageshack.us/img104/6583/ngassssshe0.th.png) (http://www.3stocksonfire.org/trading/index.php?action=dlattach;attach=45592)
Their price target for NGAS is $10.50, but more important than that is their interesting coverage which I recommend a quick read.
After a bad open on Friday (in reaction to results), the overall price action for the session was in fact bullish with NGAS recovering most of loses and closing near the highs of the day.
The short term chart remains bullish and the mid-term chart looks great, if NGAS manage to trade above $8.89 in the near future, we’ll have a technical confirmation for its primary long term trend (as a matter of signals, among the huge volume, the recent breakout and the EMA-50/EMA-200 just crossing over, a print of $8.89 would be the last confirmation for a new Bullish main trend).
The trading plan remains almost the same, just updating the stop level for now:
Take profits at $10. Sell with a small loss if the stock is set to close below $6.10.
Regards,
Update:
Interesting price action for NGAS during the last few days ;)
Yesterday’s candle was not so bright, but I don’t believe we have reasons to worry yet.
A new bullish research note was out a few days ago, probably helping the buying pressure, this one was by Sidoti & Company, which have a 12$ price target and some interesting estimates:
Just posting a print screen, since its only a 1 page PDF:

I’m updating the trading plan, raising the stop level a bit more to correspond to the new price developments, I’m putting it a few cents below the last relative short term low of $7.31 which is already a profit zone, and the target remains the same for now ($10).
Trading plan: (updated)
Take profits at $10. Sell with a small profit if the stock is set to close below $7.25

Horizontal drilling update. This statement quite telling and probably helping the pre market action '." Mr. Daugherty added, "The success we are having in Leatherwood with our horizontal drilling to the Devonian shale, which is present throughout our Appalachian acreage, has the potential to provide the catalyst for significant growth in our production and reserves over the long term." :
Full Detail:
NGAS Resources Provides Horizontal Drilling Update
Production in Line with Expectations
20 Horizontal Wells Planned in 2008
LEXINGTON, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NGAS Resources, Inc. (Nasdaq: NGAS) today provided an update on the five horizontal wells it has drilled to date in its core Leatherwood field.
As previously disclosed, natural gas production from the first horizontal well averaged 367 thousand cubic feet per day (Mcf/d) for the first 30 days. The second and third wells have now been on line for over 30 days, with average production rates of 405 Mcf/d and 421 Mcf/d, respectively. The company retained 62.5 percent working interest in the first two wells and 50 percent in the third well.
The Company's fourth horizontal well in Leatherwood was recently completed and put on line. Its fifth well is being fraced and will go on line in early June. The Company retained all of the working interest in the fourth well and has an 87.5 percent working interest in the fifth well. Each well has a single lateral leg up to 3,500 feet through the lower Huron section of the Devonian shale.
William S. Daugherty, President and CEO of NGAS Resources commented, "Production results from these wells are in line with our expectations. As a result, we plan to drill at least 20 horizontal wells in our Leatherwood field this year." Mr. Daugherty added, "The success we are having in Leatherwood with our horizontal drilling to the Devonian shale, which is present throughout our Appalachian acreage, has the potential to provide the catalyst for significant growth in our production and reserves over the long term."

Those were good news Aussie.
Also, RBC Capital Markets published a small comment about this:
QuoteIncreasing Activity on Positive Appalachian Well Results
• NGAS announced that its 2nd and 3rd horizontal wells in Appalachia have
produced at 30-day average rates of 405 Mcf/d and 421 Mcf/d, respectively.
All three wells were drilled into the Lower Huron shale at the company's
Leatherwood field in eastern Kentucky and have shown improving results
with each successive well.
• The company's fourth horizontal was recently tied-in to sales and a fifth well
is expected on-line by early June.
• In light of the results, NGAS is stepping up its horizontal activity and now
plans to drill at least 20 wells in its Leatherwood field during 2008.
Previously NGAS expected to drill up to 20 horizontal wells during 2008.
• Overall this is positive news as the company's vertical well program was not
providing the strong production growth necessary to move the stock higher.
• We view the horizontal program as highly successful and in line with
Equitable Resources' (NYSE: EQT; $74.46; Outperform, Above Average
Risk) positive results on its acreage immediately east of NGAS.
Another positive input was a recent upgrade from TheStreet.com that now rates NGAS as a Hold (up from a previous Sell rating), I didn't have any more details from this new rating, but will try to get the research note later, if possible.
From a technical perspective, NGAS is still trading with good momentum; the volume has decreased a bit during the last two sessions, but NGAS manage to close near the recent highs. A special note to $8.89 which was the previous high (Jun 2007) and it's probably acting as resistance right now, even so I expect this to be broken at any time given the overall chart layout.
In a consolidation scenario, I expect the ascending support to work, so I believe we should keep our stop level on the same spot ($7.25) for now and try to ride this up-swing a little more.
Trading plan:Take profits at $10. Sell with a small profit if the stock is set to close below $7.25
Regards,
Update:
NGAS is holding quite well this upper range.
We are going to upgrade our stop level a bit higher in order to adapt to its ascending support line and protect profits.
The new trading plan is:
Trading plan:
Take profits at $10.00, use stop @ $8.05
Update:
We are going to upgrade our stop level once again, in order to adapt to the ascending support line. In this case a few ticks below Tuesday low.
The new trading plan is:
Trading plan:
Take profits at $10.00, use stop @ $8.30
Update:Today a new research note was published by Dahlman Rose Analysts; they have just upgraded their price target from $10 to $13 on higher asset value assumption:
QuoteWe are raising our price target to $13 per share from $10 as the price paid in the region continues to accelerate. In addition, we believe there is ample upside remaining in our estimate as the company books incremental proven reserves and adds acreage. Our NAV is based on what we believe NGAS’s assets would fetch in the open market. Our target is derived from a $4.05/Mcfe per proven reserve and $2 reserve price using 2007 year end results. We are using a 76% risk factor on our proven estimate, which could be considered low given the quality of the company’s reserves. We calculate that NGAS has over $2 per share alone in gas gathering value.
The complete Note of Research for download:

Once again, NGAS has been holding this upper range quite well, managing to keep this up-swing untouched so far. If the stock manage to keep this layout in place without breaking down the support I’m expecting another big push to the upside, probably above our $10 initial target.
I’m doing just a little change to the trading plan, in case we hit $10 we’ll be selling only half of our position and holding the rest, so the new trading plan is:
Trading plan:Sell half @ $10.00, use stop @ $8.30

Hi la-onda, we're selling half of this position @ $10 (or above, if today's open is above $10), doing this we'll be decreasing our risk in this position, giving us more room to ride this up swing (if possible). But yes, we plan to increase our stop level soon (probably near to $9).
Update:Yesterday's session was another breakout with strong volume into a new 52W high. NGAS is now near our initial $10 target and its setting up nicely for a possible upside continuation.
We are selling half of our position in NGAS @ $10, and we'll keep the other half with the intention of riding a possible continuation (probably above $12). For now the trading plan remains the same:
Trading plan:Sell half @ $10.00, use stop @ $8.30
Half of NGAS position was sold at $10.02 at the open.
Update:
I was expecting a bigger correction for NGAS after we reached our target @ $10, probably to $8.50, but until now NGAS has been consolidating above $9 which shows a lot of relative strength at this point. $9.25 is also a reaction zone we should mention and has been working properly.
NGAS broke down its ascending support line, this isn't necessarily bearish, this just means that the previous layout has changed, it can still go higher into new relative highs, just with a different layout. The 50-EMA stands near $8.50, we'll keep our stop slightly below that key area and continue to hold our half position in NGAS.
Trading plan:
Hold half position with stop @ $8.30
Remaining 1/2 position stopped @ $8.30
