Started a position in it.
Its a fast mover BOTH WAYS so caution needed.
Earnings on JULY 21. Historically it has risen before the earnings and has been on the buy rec. Good fundamentals. But I will not keep it through earnings. Bad memories :)
In at 24.55, Stop 23.55 Target: Will sell at open JULY 20
eliteG, Look at FLSH - growing like a weed. a chip that emulates a harddrive for cell phones.
Fundamentally and Historically, this stock has rose about 20 to 30% b/w earning date announcement and a day before the actual earning. Though I wont be holding through earning. May shoot up or dip down.
Thanks made some money on this one.
Stocky....some news out.

Thanks setravis. SNDK is the best play in flash mkt. You can think of it as Toyota of its niche. I cant comment about LEXR but this that they are up against high odds. Anyway goodluck if you are holding SNDK. I think its good and may be safe to hold till 19 July. I have moved up my stop to 24.99.
No I'm not holding SNDK.
Just seen the news out,and thought I would post it to you in case you had not seen it yet!
But I am holding LEXR at a small loss,May have to cut the loss and move on! ;)
Good luck with your SNDK trade!!! 8)
Now 26, seems to reach 30 by 19 july my target date :)
Stocky I am still holding half of my position. What target you have in mind? Should I keep it through the earnings?
Going as planned. Stop moved to 25.75 now.
Stop moved up to 26.25
Going as planned. :)
The best method for this one may be to keep moving up the stop.
I just thought I would see how Stocky is doing today? ;D
What's up? I see your trade is up! :o Way to do it.
Broke out of that Falling Wedge, and now the reversal is on! ;)
Have a great weekend Stocky, good trading!
thx set, SNDK has been a good trade for me :), I see this one going to near 30 or more before earning. But will in no case hold it through earnings.
Not much today, but I will sell at tomorrow's open. Not keeping this one for ER :)
Sold @ 27.8

I've enjoyed watching this nice "steady as she goes" trade. Good job, Stocky. Applause.
thx melf, hope that I come up with more in future ;)
Thanks stocky. I kept half of my SNDK and now its at 31.40. Love every move of it. Should I sell here?
you better own FLSH too when it pulls back .....2005 top line growth of 40% and bottom line growth of 50%.

This one happened to get to your target
after earnings, but there also were some good looking charts before earnings that now look like someone grabbed the stock by the throat and slammed it to the ground. ABT, GIGM and ARBA are just a few that come to mind. Not a bad strategy at all that you like to get out of stocks before earnings.
SNDK has exceeded the pattern target, and finished on Friday with a Shooting Star candle. That's characterized by a long upper shadow with little or no lower shadow (SNDK has a little lower shadow) and a small real body (that's the little white box at the bottom of the candle that represents the open and the close).
The Shooting Star arises after an uptrend (SNDK rallied 40% in two weeks) and is a bearish signal in an uptrend. Needs downside confirmation, as all candlesticks do.
That's the definition of the candlestick WITHOUT that huge gap up, begging to be filled :o
Shorted SNDK at 31.74. I'll cover a CLOSE or obvious late day rally above Friday's Shooting Star candle at 32.84. Risk: a loss of 3.5%.
SNDK currently is BID 31.72...ASK 31.73
Well I will be seller of SNDK at this point. :)
It may go up but I know that shorts get bold every time SNDK moves its head above 30. Dont know what will happen this time. Historically this is dangerous band to own [29 to 32]

I hope there aren't
too many shorts, Stocky, since I'm now one of them :o
Shorting the Shooting Star on SNDK seemed like a reasonable low-risk play. Friday's candle on big volume closed only $0.19 higher than the open, suggesting that buyers of that long tail didn't have the conviction to hold it into the close.
If there's enough buying conviction to close SNDK above Friday's $32.84 high, then I don't want to be short, and I'll take the 3.5% loss.

SNDK printed 32.88 just before 2:00PM, sold off only to 32.68, so I didn't wait for the close. I covered at 32.75 for a 3.2% loss. It's been rallying all day on volume, so that's good enough for me. I'm impressed that SNDK got back to this level at all after the Shooting Star, and I don't want to get in the way of a short squeeze to the upside.

The squeeze is on. SNDK currently is at 33.32, up $1.58 :o
Two lessons to be learned from this trade:
1. Recognize as quickly as possible when you are wrong, and get out of the postion.
2. Don't ever be as stupid as Melf Elf, and post on the internet that you are
shorting something. It's the equivalent of saying to the wolf, "I'm all alone with no one to protect me. Please don't eat me, Mr. Wolf. Pleeease." ;D
We saw today another big rally in Scandisk after the announcement of the deal with Verizon Communications Inc. to sell a flash memory card for mobile phones at Verizon stores, and after the presentation of New Gadgets Unveiled at Trade Show.
Scandisk has reached the Overbought conditions , so perhaps we can have now some profit taking in this levels.
;)
Sorry , the name of this company is Sandisk, not Scandisk.

Both, flsh + sndk should rally in here now. There are many stocks now in cubes should perform well like Intel, Applied Materials and Juniper.
In case anyone didn't notice, SNDK is getting creamed after hours following their earnings and guidance. Shorted at 41.24, doubt I'll be holding through the night. Will set stop cover at 39.50.
GLTA!
EDIT: Covered my 500 shares at 38.40 for a gain I'm unsure of, as I still don't really know how to calculate percentage gains on short positions ???

Nutsterrt,
You shorted 500 shares of SNDK @ 41.24
Shorted 41.24 * 500 = 20,620
Covered 38.40 * 500 = 19,200
20,620 minus 19,200 =
1,420 or 6.89% gain <-- your profit

Ahh, it's gains divided by short sale amount. I could never figure out whether you divided by the cover or sale value. Very helpful. Thanks Terliso! Applause for your help.
You can also check your percentage gain at this website, just plug in
$41.24 to $38.40 and you will get 6.89%. ;)

SanDisk downgraded to "neutral" - update
Monday, July 16, 2007 3:17:20 PM ET
UBS
NEW YORK, July 16 (newratings.com) - Analysts at UBS downgrade SanDisk Corporation (SNDK.NAS) from "buy" to "neutral," while raising their estimates for the company.
The target price has been raised from $53 to $60.
In a research note published this morning, the analysts mention that although the improving NAND demand would result in encouraging 2Q results and revision in the 2H estimates, this is largely reflected in the company's current share price. The pro forma EPS and revenue estimates for 2Q have been raised from $800 million to $871.2 million and from $0.16 to $0.23, respectively, to reflect higher gross margins and ASPs. The EPS estimates for 2007 and 2008 have been raised from $0.50 to $0.59 and from $1.50 to $1.55, respectively.
Chart:
Triple Bottom
Might be bought by INTC
I expect some near term resistance in the $45-46 range because of the moving averages falling. Long term I'm still bullish though. Positive catalyst is the CEO just bought 50,000 shares.
Do we have buying opportunity here?
SNDK is now at book value!

Sandisk Unveils New Products...
Friday September 16, 2011
Storage solutions company Sandisk Corporation (NasdaqGS: SNDK) recently rolled out a number of retail products and introduced a new preservation solutions category. SanDisk's product portfolio addresses all market segments—from mobile phones and cameras to notebooks and tablets—and use cases ranging from entry level to professional.
The recently released product categories include SanDisk Memory Vault: a new product that is tested to preserve images in their original quality for up to 100 years. 64GB SanDisk Extreme Pro SDXC UHS-I Card, which doubles the performance and capacity of its professional-grade imaging line-up to create a new SD card based on the latest SD 3.0 specification's Ultra High Speed (UHS) bus architecture.
Moreover, the company unveiled 64GB SanDisk Mobile Ultra micro SDXC Card, which will enhance the capacity of even the most advanced smartphones and tablets.
Apart from rolling out hard drive storage products, the company introduced Sansa Clip Zip MP3 player, the latest addition to the popular SansaClip family of products. Sansa Clip Zip MP3 player is a user-friendly, feature-rich music player with attractive pricing and is expected to gain massive popularity amongst music lovers.
The Sansa Clip Zip MP3 player offers rich sound quality and is compatible with all major music formats, including the AAC codec (DRM-free iTunes compatible). Moreover, the product comes with a new 1.1-inch LCD color screen, which offers 83.0% more viewing area than previous models. Its updated graphical interface displays album art and makes song navigation easier.
The company is slowly expanding its product portfolio, and has introduced products catering to a variety of customers. According to the terms of the recently-signed deal with ASUS TeK, ASUS will use SanDisk's recently launched U100 solid state drive (SSD) in its upcoming UX Series ultra-thin notebook. We believe the new products will help the company win new deals and counter competition.
SanDisk posted decent second quarter 2011 results, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate. Both OEM and retail businesses improved, enabling solid product revenue. Though revenue guidance was decent, margin guidance disappointed, as SanDisk continued to witness memory price declines and currency headwinds.
We understand that demand for flash memory could grow in the coming years, backed by the popularity of devices such as smartphones and tablets. Apple Inc.'s (NasdaqGS: AAPL) iPad being one of them. But we believe that slower cannibalization of PCs would slow down the demand for SanDisk's memory products and rationalize revenue growth. Customer concentration, competitive pressure and the European weakness are other headwinds for the company.
