Any thoughts on this guys, it has a huge short position.
Can someone do some T/A on this, it appears to have crossed both the 50, and 200 DMA. There is recent news, and a huge short position. EliteG, Randolph, help a brother out? ;)

VLNC closed at 3.00, above the 50 DMA, but below the 200 DMA, which is at 3.07.
Here's an overview (weekly chart). Starting in late 2001, VLNC built a nice 2+ year base that had the look of an Inverse H&S pattern. The low of the right shoulder was below the low of the left shoulder, so that was a technical flaw, and the volume wasn't right. But, it had the "look," nonetheless.
What looked to be a very bullish breakout the week of January 16, 2004 was a false breakout. It ended in failure pretty quickly.
From the January, 2004 high, VLNC formed a Falling Wedge Pattern. VLNC broke out above the Falling Wedge in May, 2005. Falling Wedge breakouts are tricky. While they appear to be bullish, they actually are bearish continuation patterns, UNLESS they occur at a bear market low. In that case, they can signify a change in trend. I guess Elliott Wave Theorists would call the latter "an ending diagonal," or end of the bear trend. I'm not sure. But, you get the idea.
What I look for with a Falling Wedge Pattern breakout, to determine if it's a bearish continuation or a the end of a bear trend, is for more bullish patterns to form. Golden Star Resources (GSS) is a good recent example. You might want to look at my chart in that file. Since breaking out of a falling wedge, GSS has for a total of four bullish patterns, but it needs to breakout to confirm that the patterns
really are bullish. Since the May, 2005 breakout of the Falling Wedge, has VLNC done anything bullish to give us evidence that it isn't just a bearish continuation pattern? Take a look at the daily charts (below), and see what you think in terms of: (1) would you buy it? (2) at what price? (3) where's your stop? (4) what are your upside expectations?
Good luck with whatever you decide!
this is where i can come up with:
break out of the bearish price channel. Hammering on a strong resistance from the triangle (bothe the support and resistance of the triangle are resistance now).
It would be nice to see it go trhough the resistance and become a reversal, but it also could continue to fall in a new (paralel) bearish price channel.
any comments on this? :)
ICHIMOKU CHART:
Another idea to keep an eye on.Our leaders are exploring alternative energy and this stock may see some further upside. The stock pulled back to several key support areas and its bouncing back up off the Bullish Homing Pigeon candlestick pattern:
Fresh news giving it an added boost..
Shorts feeling pain here with nearly 13% of the float short.
Bought VLNC for 2.68 this morning. Off to a rocky start, but I still like the setup.
Golden cross probably tomorrow.
Hi, Traderjbr and BJC
Yes have had VLNC on my battery / fuel cell watch lists for years, never owned it. Your post caught my eye and made me pull up the chart again, prices on watch lists don't tell the whole story. I get a much better feel looking at the chart.
I like it again, the daily is showing a nice uptrend forming an ascending triangle, volume looking good, watching for a breakout above recent resistance in the 2.75-2.85 range. The only problem I see here is that it's coming right at a heavy traffic area, look at the weekly chart, alot of traffic resistance in the 2.75 - 3.25 range.
I will be watching closely.
will also post on the ASC TRI board.
happy investing / trading
Quasi
This one has woken up.
I'm tired of posting.
I wasn't going to post :-\ but I decided to go ahead :-X
Huge rally today!
Earnings profit to be reported ???
I cannot find anything of real substance.
The only recent announcement is that earnings will be reported on June 13th.
I think a bigger story is in the works here...
Note: in its last earnings report, they had their narrowest quarterly loss, and the report hinted at a possible profit this quarter.
I wonder if such news has somehow leaked out to a trader or two.... ;D
Whatever the story is, it is intriguing enough for me to get my feet wet with the stock ! ;)

AUSTIN, Texas, Mar 11, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Valence Technology, Inc. (VLNC, Trade) today announced it plans to increase the company's manufacturing capacity to meet anticipated demand for its safe, industry-leading Lithium Phosphate energy storage systems. By March 31, 2009, Valence plans to have in place an expanded manufacturing capacity of $35 million to $50 million per quarter to support anticipated product sales. As the company's manufacturing capacity expands, Valence believes it can achieve gross margins of approximately 30 percent of revenue with operating profit from 17 percent to 20 percent of revenue.
Valence recently announced it had secured an agreement with Tanfield Group Plc that will result in the purchase of up to $70 million of product during the first phase of the contract to power zero emission, all-electric commercial delivery vehicles. The Valence battery systems are being installed in leading-edge vans and trucks produced by Tanfield's UK-based trading division, Smith Electric Vehicles, the world's largest manufacturer of electric vans and trucks.
"Increasing our capacity to manufacture additional battery systems will assure we have the capability to fulfill the anticipated demand we believe to be building in our sales pipeline," said Robert L. Kanode, CEO and president of Valence Technology. "And, with operational full service fulfillment centers in Europe, North America and China we are ready to provide the service and support our customers need."

VLNC is likely to crest shortly near the $4 barrier...it did hit $4.05 , and I see some slowing in certain indicators...I still believe this one has long-term potential above $8.00 ultimately, but it needs to digest recent gains before it goes higher...I hope to catch it back below $3.40 level and ride it higher.......
