Title: $1000 to $32000, with momentum strategy.
Post by: stocky on July 22, 2005, 02:04:12 PM
Hi guys, I am also jumping in.

Plan is

1. Buying hot fast stocks [really cant define that but may be anything in hot sector]

2. Buying with 1k [infact 980, to take care of commissions] and compounding.

3. Not aiming for 100% but modest 25% to 50% with each trade. HIT and RUN :)

4. Starting next trading day, I will post all my trades, right after I am through them.

5. I may close a trade with loss :)  Not holding till eternity may come.

6. Request others not to follow, just experimenting ;)

7. May hold stock for maximum of three days

8. May use other speculators pick [but offcourse will give credit to the picker :)]

Need goodluck from all you guys

Nothing is hard and fast in trading, only $$$, though I would like to dump when others are chasing and not vice versa.

I wish you and the rest of the "competitors" all the good luck!

It will be fun to watch.

I just unloaded a handfull of pennies - some with a 30%+ loss  :-\

So much for pennies for me for a while.  ;D They have been fun, but expensive!

Will keep an eye on your progress.

Cheers.

IPIX is going to be quite the stock, I bought on Friday. This is not a daytrade for me.  I think this is going a LOT higher.

Very true. Just I am using momo strategy. I will buy a stock as soon as I see ppl are interested and will sell at the first resistance or as soon as possible.

Hope you make more with it. Goodluck.

Title: Re: $1000 to $32000, with momentum strategy.
Post by: stocky on July 25, 2005, 04:04:49 PM
I am holding TGE. The reason

0. Upside earning 14c compared to 4c [that should give some new low PE :)]
1. Very low float
2. Very low institution holding [and they may try to increase it]
3. closing at the High of Day

I dont know which way the stock will take tomorrow. But I will sell if it 'tries' to go down 9. Will see how things develop tomorrow.

Interesting tge is for a long time , price creeping up , no volume really. Im going to have to try to make a scan for this type of stock.   tonyg

Post by: stocky on July 25, 2005, 08:54:19 PM
thx puenthouse, need goodluck, infact its lot of pressure when you get into something like momo stocks. Lets see where it takes me.

aqatto, volume on TGE was whooping 1526% the average. The float is micro: 2.84 millions. This one can run up like you know whom... Anyway wont speculate on the upside b/c I will protect my profits more than squeezing every dime of profit from this one.

well I have been away from desk in the morning and missed selling the initial run. I am expecting another run toward the end of day.

One lesson though learned is that for holding this type of momo strategy, you have to be at the seat all the time. Will sell if it goes below 9 :(

I am tempering with my momo strategy after RNAI reality check.

Buying stocks that are in my opinion about to get into the momo stage [though risk is that it will tie up the capital for more than three days] rather then the ones that are already in.

For same reason I bought AMEP [before RNAI experience :) ]. May put the RNAI salvage money in AMEP too. Just bullish on OIL.

Fourth Trade = AMEP

In with:  1040
Out with:  1135

[got out early b/c wont be on the trading desk for today and may be tomorrow]

Also note that I got out with little profit b/c

1. Needed little confidence after last trade loss
2. If I can't properly handle a trade I'll be out no matter what

Giving up.

Sold FCCN [email protected]

Sold AMRE @ .048

Too much losses and loss of confidence.

I think some better hands like elite may play better. Out for good. Can't be at the desk and can't trade for a while. Take care all.

hey stocky, I'm sorry it didn't work out.  :-\

I noticed that your strategy changed after TGE.  Your were buying momo stocks moving right then and then changed to stocks that had had momo but weren't moving yet.  I thought this observation might help you if you decide to try again.  ;)

I am really just testing out research over there...

Have a nice weekend stocky and hope to see you again soon.  ;D

Title: Too Early and Too Late
Post by: stocky on August 05, 2005, 04:23:08 PM
thx elite, I must have killed the strategy in the middle. Very immaturish, i admit.

The real reason being I am not able to give time during trading. This loss of focus has resulted in shift in strategy [parking in past momos then current one]. Anyway, I played some momos with half confidence and lost [BOOM, WTSLA], but again the point is that if one can't focus then its better to sit out and come back whenever one can.

Hope you will mass up the infinite experiment. Great learning for all of us. Applaud.

Also wanted to share the following cartoon [very relavent otherwise dont know if Ramsburg will tolerate it here :) ]  (c) Cartoonbank.com

Bad luck Stocky,

However I'll give you an applaud for 2 things: 1) For actually posting what you wanted to do and showing your buys and sells. 2) Holding up your hand and admiting it wasn't working out.

An observation from my side being that you were buying volatile penny stocks which can be an emotional roller coaster at the best of times and falling into the classic trap of selling on pain rather than plan. On FCCN I'll tell you there were just not many sellers down at $0.0475 (I had an order sitting there all day for 100K that didn't get a bite). I have seen it so many times people sell in reaction to intraday dip only to find that was the LOD, done it myself plenty and learned.
Don't lose heart though and keep on contributing.

It was a brave attempt Stocky! Appreciate your efforts...and I hope u hang in there, it definitely is a tough racket and can often be quite unpredictable, even with all the technical and fundamental analysis done...nothing is ever guaranteed here.

I have been in that same position, many, many, many times...did i mention 'many!' times.

Sometimes we just got to take a breather...hope to see u back here soon.

Take care and thanks!

julia
