I am no chart expert, but I do like the a couple of things here.

1)Good Fundamentals
2)Interest has picked up
3)This sector of the market has been extremley hot lately
4)Low float

I am taking a position tommorow is there is a pullback below 2

What made you wait for it to go below $2? If the decision was based on technical or philosophical reasons please explain.

Thanks...

Wow did anyone see how this closed today. Now I wish I would have bought more.  Will add more on the pullback Monday.  Oh, sorry Aix I always used to by to high there is usally always a pullback and if there is not its no big deal to me.  I used to let my emotions get in the way of reason.

How do you post a chart?

Thanks...

Aix, the way I do it is as follows:

1. Go to Stockcharts.com (sharp charts) and pull up the desired chart (go with medium size, so it will it in properly when posting).
2. Right click on chart and choose "save as" to your hard drive.
3. Then pull up on your computer the saved chart and select "file", scroll down to "save as" and select "save as type" "gif".  That format will allow you to post in a viewable fashion.
4. Next, post your reply on this site, and at bottom of post you'll see "additional options".  Click on it and next to Attach you'll see a "browse" option.  Hit browse, then search on your hard drive for where you saved the chart.  Highlight the file and click "open".  That will attach it to your reply.
5. Hit post, and there you are.

Thanks for posting HOM.

I bought HOM on 7/29 at 1.94 after watching it for three days following the bullish engulfing candle.

The price/book is less than 2 and HOM's quarterly earnings growth is 139% with 40% qtrly revenue growth (from yahoo stats).   HOM has free cash flow.  The trailing P/E is a little high at 19.38, but I think the stock will hit $3.  I suspect that it's just been recomended by some subscription letter - perhaps Navellier's Quantum, judging from Yahoo message board searches and judging from the high volume breakouts in July and August. Technically, it looks like it's heading up to 3 to complete a 2-year cup.

I'm happy about the trade for now, but I think it has moved up too fast.  I'm suspicious of the steepness in the chart.  Looking at the weekly chart, it looks incredible:

http://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/SC.web?c=hom,uu[w,a]waclyyay[df][pb50!b200][vc60][iUb14!Ll14]&pref=G

Although the stock's climb looks overly steep, especially right before the earnings call in 3 days, I supose the volume is confirmation of a good thing - accumulation.

Any more thoughts?  Thanks.

Title: Re: HOM

Out at 2.35 with earnings release tonight. Think I can buy it cheaper in the AM.

This company has a great little story and an excellent business doing Granite for Lowe's and Home Depot - Just that the momentum didn't push it enough leading into earnings got me a little scared.

-------------------------

Update .04 earnings - Raised guidance to .18 to .20

After hours bids up to 2.50 - may gap up in the AM / I guessed wrong on this one, I guess

Pulled back to 2.21 today - Man that was quick.

Any of you TA folks want to take a crack at this and let me know your thoughts?

From a Fundamental point, these guys are doing things right.
And I like the Granite business since we just had our kitchen redone over the winter (OK it started in the winter and ended in the spring, but that's another story alltogether  :o

HOM has gained a lot in a 1.5 months.  I believe its only normal for it to start consolidating before it continues to run.  The question then becomes what is your time frame?  If you want results now I would not allow a close under 2.13.. if you can give it room then 2 should provide support.  Of course who knows it could just decide to take off without waiting around.

Here is some TA, hope it helps:

Thanks EG - I appreciate the TA.
Someday I'll learn how to read something besides the 50 DMA and the MACD  ???

Just the .18-.20 guidance alone should make this a 2.70 - 3.00 stock based on a 15 PE

Looking good! Today (8/23) up 9.65% to close at 2.59.  HOM is climbing fast, but looks like it will continue higher tomorrow.  Volume increase, stochastics and RSI convince me to keep holding.

Do someone see any perspective to return at HOM now - I like RSI, MFI and Fibonacci :)  ?
I have been waiting for a big drop (approx 4), but maybe 4.2-4.3 also a good lebel to reentry?

Any comments from members is appreciated.

Hey Gregory,

I bought a half position in HOM a couple of days ago, mis-timing it slightly, but I bought the other half today, averaging down.  I think today's bottom is very good.  We filled the gap from the previous horrible action last week, and we also confirmed an ascending trendline (see the HOM thread).  HOM's fundamentals remain unchanged, and are very optimistic for the next 6 months.  The rally over the last month or so may have priced some of this in, but I think there is more, and the chart simply needed a technical correction from last weeks crazy reaction.

I couldn't say for sure, but my bet (and my money) is on an upward move from here.  Let's hope so anyway ;)

I have been with HOM since the low 3s; held through the last major drop and then sodl some on the way down around 4.60; also bought more at 4.23;

I am holding but did a quick trade in my ROTH dumping all my HOM yesterday to replace with NGAS which proved to be a ver smart trade, having dumped HOM at 4.40 buying NGAS at 11.60

Anyway, I am still long HOM in my investment account with 75% of my initial purchases. I expect a move upwards next week as well.

Fundamentally the guidance increase to 22-25 cents per share from 18-20 cents, with the PE of 30, suggests HOM shoudl be trading no less than $6. more likley $7.50.. Personally, I dont understand why it has not moved higher. BUt because of this fundamental improvement in outlook, I think the bottom is near 4.20 rather than high 3s like last sell-off. So I agree with the two of you that HOM looks ready for a strong move upwards, justifiable both technically and fundamentally

Good luck

Tread carefully guys (and that includes me ;) The major indices are testing support,  bear action is growing momentum, former favourites who have performed fantastically over the past few weeks / months are turning over. New ones will emerge. I had a great run with HOM, but I wouldn't be getting in again right now unless it broke above the $5.20 resistance zone.

Hi guys,
Thank you very much for your answers.
Today we have good article in Yahoo and HOM is in the second place:

"The 10 Highest-Rated Stocks Under $10"
http://biz.yahoo.com/special/low1010_05.html

Maybe today 12% is a beginning of the new uptrend, but I agree with AussieTrader  - former support can be very strong resistance now.

The question is "How strong and how long Yahoo article can affect to HOM stock? For a couple of days"?

HOM is looking good :), HOM recently had about a 15% breakout and now is having a small pullback which is common for HOM. Looks like there will be a great entry point tomorrow. From what I hear earnings will be out on the 14th of november with a record hurricane season and tons of flooding HOM will do exceptionally good.

It seems to be testing the 50 DMA but holding steady. The fundamentals are really good and the Investor Business Daily consistently puts this stock on the top ten under $10. I'm unsure LT, however, for swinging - I think it's going up for at lease a few days from here.

kpunarc   Thanx for your time and the quality chart.  What are the horizontal bars that you state are a nice Base?  I too nticed the inverted hamers that you point out Hmmm, hope the return is similar this week.  I will be watching this monday AM.  Any early indicators that you look for? Volume, pre market?  I like this company and hope that they continue a staedy gowth. Cheers joe
Title: Re: HOM
Post by: kpunarc on November 06, 2005, 12:06:01 AM
The indicators on the side is volume by (relative/according to) price. In this case, it's showing that there's a significant amount of volume at that range of price which means there's a lot of support or more people willing to trade at that range of price. I.E. supply and demand.

What to look for on monday? Well I would check the foreign markets to see how they're doing. It could help predict how the U.S. market will do. If the market decides to go bull it would be a great chance to go in. This is because if you look on the chart, the prices pick up as volume increases. Volume calms as prices start to depreciate. Then volume picks up again repeating the process. If the market becomes bull, it may help encourage the volume to pick up here and push the prices up. Either way, I would look at the volume and see how it's doing starting around 9:30 eastern. I would set a buy point at $5.10. That buy point for me would be a confirmation that the trend is changing decreasing the possibility of a loss.

I too am still learning and making it because there's a lot of support here. Persevere and you'll make it. In LIVELIFE's words...'pass it forward'.
Title: Re: HOM
Post by: LiveLife on November 06, 2005, 03:09:43 AM
Hi Joet!  :D

Since you asked for HOM analysis on SANM board, I'll post here also.  Boy, this is a really interesting chart... well, here's my stab at it.

First some history.  I made some nice gains on HOM earlier this year.  :D  When hurricane Katrina hit, hurricane plays like ZENX.OB (yes, $60 million US ACE temporary roofing contract!) and HOM, which does building restoration after the initial disaster recovery then restoration and reconstruction) all took off.  Yes, HOM is one of 20-40 stocks I monitor.  Recently, Avian bird flu plays like NVAX, HEB, SVA, BCRX, GNBT took off on "speculation" and I kinda lost sight of HOM.

Ok, let's look at the chart below and go over some "concrete" basics first.  If the stock is actively gaining with rising volume and MACD in the positive territory with RSI below 70, then it is a definite short-term "BUY."  And if all three of these criterias are the opposite with RSI above 70, then it is a definite short-term "SELL."

Well, let's go over the "less concrete" issues next.  If you look at RSI for August and September, it is way above 70-80+ which indicated that the stock is "overbought" and selling should follow (purple oval), but instead of a selloff, stock price kept gaining!!! (purple box).  I believe this was due to the hurricane response buy demand on the stock which drove the price up, despite the high RSI.

Next, recent volume "appears" to be increasing, but I believe that is probably "profit taking" sell volume.  If you look at 10 MA, it "peaked" and flattened and begining to go down.  If 10 MA approaches 50 MA, this is also a short-term "SELL" signal.

RSI is below 50, indicating that stock is not "overbought" - typically high RSI (70-80+) is a leading indicator of "sell" activity; however, MACD is in the negative territory.

So what does this all mean and what should we do on Monday?

I also posted the Technical Analysis "composite indicators" from BarChart.com.
http://www.3stocksonfire.org/trading/index.php?topic=2173.msg30941#msg30941

It looks like, short-term, HOM will fall in price.  Approaching the 52 week high for any stock makes traders "nervous" and there is a selloff as the stock rises towards the 52 week high.  If you look at the 1 year Yahoo chart, that's what it appears to be.  Once HOM rebounds after this "nervous" selloff, if you once again see the price rise with increasing volume, MACD in positive territory and 10 MA breaking away from 50 MA, then you may see that 52 week high being challenged.

I also attached the MSN stock rating webpage that covers pro/con and risk/return.
http://moneycentral.msn.com/investor/srs/srsmain.asp?Symbol=hom

For Monday, I would be very cautious and carefully watch HOM at market open.

Take care, I hope this helped.

That is a very helpful post with tons of information... If I could applaud you I most definitely would.  I've been looking at this thing a little bit but with all that information I have a pretty good base and might look more solidly into this thing.  I think even if it doesn't bounce the chart still looks pretty good.  Its got a good support level just below so I guess we'll just have to see.  Thanks LiveLife!

kpunarc and livelife
thank you both for the great information! HOM Earnings is on the 14th, i will be curious to see if HOM sells off going into it?  I have watched several positions that had strong earnings potential sell off the week before... i guess folks figure that the pps spike is already build into the price so they sell off?  Thoughts on "earnings Plays"  (ie NVAX would seem to me not to have an earnings play since revenues are new and already announced, so coulddrop after earnings???) Cheers joe

Title: Re: HOM
Post by: [D] Investor on November 08, 2005, 05:38:04 AM
Last Friday, HOM made a strong intraday recovery as it touched the 6-month chart 50 DMA around $4.67 -- indicating it's continuing uptrend. Monday's actions affirmed this and the key milestone was the fact that HOM did not fall through the 50 DMA. So HOM is still bullish for some swing play. I purchased some positions at $4.73 right after it touched the 50 DMA.

However, there are still some risks with HOM. Watch for heads and shoulders formation as the shoulder might be currently forming. If that is the case, more retracement is looming. This week will be critical in determining HOM' next trend. Monitor it closely.

My [2] cents.

Candles???  Another inverted hammer at the end of trading today, last 3 on down days were up the next... but could we also be gloing back to 4.92 to fill the early gap this week?  Thoughts as we are running into earnings on the 14th that has seen 2 raised guidence....
I am hold a bunch for me, thinking about adding if below 5.10, but some fear of big sell off... over the year has been in sinc with AOB for what-ever reason... sure hope that continues... cheers joe

The Earnings play is here!  We are solidly in the $6's.  It appears that a penant formed last week...  they most likely will not report until March 30 or 31...  will the shorts shake it down this week?  Are the great earnings from last fall allready built into this price at 6.65?  Most earnings calls that i have seen end up selling off even with good news! go figure?  3SOF stated in a recent e-mail to us that they will try not to hold positions through earnings calls...  I am trying to decide how much (if any) of my position to hold onto through earnings?  It seems obvious that HOM has plenty of work, but all of the acquisitions seem to make big investors shy away, they seem to prefer organic growth.  I feel that earnings call will be good but also feel that much of that PPS is already built into the recent run to mid 6 from mid 5.  I am only 8 months into trading and would really appreciate to hear opinions from folks with more experience as to if they are holding HOM through the earnings call?  Hopefully HOM will run into 7's before earnings  ;) Cheers Joe  PS also keep an eye on AOB  needs to report also

TRELISA, thank you for your post, so you are holding all through earnings?  I wish that i could justify paying for 3stock premium site, just cannot do it currently, i am small time and learning... this board has been super helpful and i have followed along... hope that you got out of ADAM, when will you buy back?
Could you share more of your thoughts on HOM?  I will be very tempted to sell if we see 7.50 before earnings next week... it just seems to me like that much of a run would be including the best case report... thoughts?  we never did see a large gov. contract?  Where do you feel that surprise earnings could come from?  We know that they are getting solid financing, and they should not need to sell any more shares for a little while?  I have seen more positive earnings calls get sold quickly than get a boost in PPS.  Appreciate you keeping this thread alive.  Can i assume that 3stocks is holding HOM?  price target?  thanx i will keep spreading the word about this great site and hopefully bring in customers until the point when i can justify a membership out of my hom(e) budget    Cheers Joe

HOM Chairman/CEO discloses additional sales of 343.5K shares at $11.49-12.50. This brings the total sale disclosed today to around 500K shares at $11.36-$12.50

im down over 20% on HOM I broke my own rule and fell in love with the stock... now that im in this hole im holding for the the next couple months. Im going to sell for a loss if negative news comes out and earnings dont justify the price but atm it does. I wouldnt sell personally because it is down on no official news just some insiders selling some stock. I belive in 2 months we will look back at today and be thankful we havent sold. 11 can be taken out easily and +12 with any good news.

After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb. – Nelson Mandela

One big hill we reached the top of is IFO, hitting 30 today.  We are up over 100% on this one and should be looking for a time to take profits.  Let us preserve some assets!
http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=IFO

Ethanol stocks were up and it looks like the market may be recovering.  In fact, if I held steady and did not sell last week, most of the quality stocks have bounced back – ADM, MGPI, and LDSH etc.  That is why it pays to buy quality and to preserve assets when the market falls.

INFA is getting close to 15 on a nice gain today, but I did not like the so/so volume.
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=INFA

I did like the performance of Copper miner, CUP.  It fell bad and bounced back to a hod on big volume.  I bought shares.  This is a positive sign that is typical of strong stocks. It opened at 4.16, fell to 3.82 and finished at about $4.61.
http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=CUP&p=D&yr=0&mn=6&dy=0&id=p72207499998

CHRS was up on good vol due to a nice report from Dress Barn and The Limited.  If it follows up on good vol, it may be one to watch.
http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=CHRS

I hate to admit it, but I bought that pumper of an oil sands stock, SOIGF.ob yesterday.  It was up 13% today.  I will keep it until it challenges my 10% profit.

I am a big fan of HOM and GV is one of my larger holdings.  Hurricane season is why:

Hurricane Plays: HOM, GV, GLBL, IPII, ABIX, WEL

[BRIEFING.COM -- Robert J. Reid] With hurricane season officially beginning today and with what is expected to be another harsh hurricane season, we wanted to highlight six small cap companies that would benefit from repairs/rebuilding: HOM, GV, GLBL, IPII, ABIX, WEL.

Home Solutions (HOM 10.66 +0.46)
HOM is probably the best known hurricane play as it's a provider of recovery, restoration and rebuilding to areas that are prone to flooding, hurricanes, tornados, fires etc.
Its operations are strategically located in areas prone to natural disasters including California, Texas, Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi.
The co is profitable and expects to report revenue of $160-165 mln this year, up 138% yr/yr.
The stock has a fairly large float f 29.2 mln shares, but was the biggest mover of all as it rocketed from $1.80 in mid-July to $6.50 by mid-Nov.

Goldfield (GV 1.83 +0.24)
Goldfield installs and maintains electrical transmission lines for electric utilities in the southeastern US.
The financials look pretty good as the co is profitable and Q1 revenue rose 70% yoy to $8.2 mln.
The float is a bit big at 23.1 mln, but it's liquid at 551K avg volume.
The stock doubled from $0.75 to $1.50 when Katrina hit in late August.

Global Industries (GLBL 19.41 unch)
The co provides pipeline construction, platform installation/removal, and diving services to the oil & gas industry.
GLBL is based in Louisiana, where Hurricane Katrina hit.
Results continue to be impressive as Q1 revenue rose 79% yr/yr to $246.3 mln.
The stock is at a new 52-wk high, but still trades at a very reasonable forward p/e of 15.2x, only half its expected EPS growth rate next year of 33%.
The stock was a big mover last yr as it jumped from $9 to $15 in 3 months...

Imperial Industries (IPII 23.18 +0.35)
The co makes building materials such as stucco, plaster and roofing products, as well as gypsum wallboard, roofing and insulation products.
The co has said that the repairs of damaged property last year had a "major" favorable effect on demand.
It's worth noting that the co is based in Pompano Beach, FL and just about all sales are to southeastern states.
The co is profitable and posted revenue growth last year of 31% to $72.3 mln. Also, EPS over the past 3 years has grown from $0.28 in 2003 to $1.02 in 2004 and $1.34 in 2005.
Applying Q1's EPS growth rate (27%) for the full year, this computes to an EPS of $1.71 for a very reasonable p/e of 13.5x.
Recall that last year, the stock jumped nearly 100% (twice!): from early July to early Aug ($16 to $30) and after a pullback, jumped again from $16 to $29 when Katrina came by in late August.
Considering the stock's tiny 2.2 mln share float, we'd keep an eye on this one.

Abatix (ABIX 9.00 -0.20)
The co makes protective clothing and industrial cleanup supplies with distribution centers in Dallas and Houston, where Hurricane Rita hit last year.
The stock has a tiny float of 870K.
Stock was a big mover last summer when it doubled in one day in early Aug from $7 to $14.

Boots & Coots (WEL 1.69 +0.01)
The co provides oilfield services centered on the prevention, emergency response and restoration of blowouts and well fires.
In its Q4 report, the co said "The aftermath of the hurricanes in the Gulf is keeping our teams busy."
Of note, the co's prevention service segment was up 72% in 2005 at $13.9 mln and now represents 47% of sales up from 33% in 2004 and the co is profitable.
Its float has expanded to 29.4 mln, but it was a mover last summer, jumping from $0.80 to $1.60 in 6 weeks.

A lot to swallow, but it goes down smooth with a beer.  Snowy

I pay attention to Stocklemon. They do a good job of digging behind the scenes of a company's fundamentals. If they're short I have no problem with that as long as they aren't making stuff up for the purpose of lining their pockets.

I played a penny stock called Skyway Communications (SWYC) a few years back that was building or buying transmission towers to enable airline passengers to have cheap cell phone and internet service. Awesome idea! The PR's were pie in the sky. It got as high at $2.00. Stocklemon investigated and unearthed many irregularities. The stock no longer trades but when last it did it was under a penny. People who listened to Stocklemon at least were able to get out while it was still above a dollar. And it turned out Skyway had pretty much just made up everything they said.

Also take a look  at the bashing XSNX took after they posted some stuff - like the company had only ONE employee (as is listed on the XSNX Yahoo site)

Maybe you should short it too.

Or if you think this company is really worth a market cap of $400 mil, buy more after the selling stops.  Investors have a short memory.

A rational investor would not buy this stock (I was not a rational investor, but a speculative one).

GV or AERTA offers a better long term value play.

Home Solutions Shares Rise on Analyst Upgrade Following Heavy Tuesday Sell-Off

i like this part

he expects the company's stock to hit a price target of $15.50 within six months rather than an earlier 12-month time frame.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of Home Solutions of America Inc. rebounded Wednesday after an analyst upgraded the stock to "Strong Buy" following Tuesday's rapid-fire sell-off.
Home Solutions, a provider of home restoration and specialty interior services, saw its stock add $1.55, or 22.8 percent, to $8.35 in midday trading on the American Stock Exchange. The analyst upgrade helped spark a surge in trading volume, as trades ballooned to more than 6.1 million at midday, compared with a daily average of about 2.8 million.

Shares have traded in a 52-week range of $1.28 to $14.14.

On Tuesday, the stock plunged 30 percent after Internet blog StockLemon.com posted an unfavorable report on the company's recent contract with newly formed American Renaissance Homes, a builder of modular houses.

In a statement Wednesday, American Renaissance charged that the blog's report contained "significant distortions and misstatements" regarding the companies' relationship.

Home Solutions in May received a contract from American Renaissance it said would generate about $5 million in revenue this year. Also as part of the deal, the company agreed to lend privately held American Renaissance Homes $800,000 for working capital, contingent on the company meeting certain performance criteria.

Sanders Morris Harris analyst David Yuschak upgraded shares of Home Solutions to "Strong Buy" from "Buy," given recent weakness in the shares. In a client note, he increased his per-share earnings estimates for this year and next and said he expects the company's stock to hit a price target of $15.50 within six months rather than an earlier 12-month time frame.

Sanders Morris Harris served as Home Solutions investment bank and facilitated a private placement of the company's stock during the past year.

Dallas-based Home Solutions has seen its share price climb sharply since last year's worst hurricanes ravaged the Gulf Coast, where the company has many of its renovation and interior services operations.

Stocklemon, the newsletter that cause HOM to fall, also hit MED last week.

Something unkosher is going on there!  I just sent this poorly written letter off to the SEC and AMEX.  I think you should send a similar letter.  It will take you two minutes.  The next stock they attack may be one that you own!:

Sirs

AMEX stocks, MED and HOM, were both featured in an online investigative reporting site, "Stocklemon", which reports on "stocks with troubles brewing".  After the reports, the stocks took big drops:

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=MED&t=3m&l=on&z=m&q=l&c=hom

The interesting thing is that these are both AMEX stocks and they both have the same market maker.

I think there may be some improper trading going on with the market maker of the stocks and "Stocklemon".  I think you will find other curious patterns too.

If someone gambles on the stock market and loses some money based on market conditions, that is one thing.  If the stocks are being manipulated just so a few people can make some money, I think this should be looked into.

Here is some information on the market maker for these stocks:
http://stocklemonaide.blogspot.com/

Thank you,

Snowy Von Snowcat

Some more crap from Stocklemon:

Stock Lemon: must read. VERY INTERESTING SWITCHEROOOOOO.

Dear readers,

This morning Stocklemon reviews the latest earnings report from Home Solutions (NASDAQ:HSOA). This company is due some additional scrutiny following a major PR misrepresentation Stocklemon discovered earlier this year.

Now they have issued guidance claiming 300% more revenues are coming the 2nd half of the year than they booked in the first half. Wait until you see who their largest single customer is. Meanwhile, share expansion is running far ahead of any other metric.

Rollups are popular on the street and at the deli counter. But in both contexts, buyers need to be sure what quality of ingredients are rolled up inside.

Cautious investing to all.

PS For those of you who were short Medifast (MED) based on a Stocklemon report, nice going, but at these prices after yesterdays earnings the stock is looking cheap. They just got accepted for listing on the NYSE and we believe the stock is overreacting today to the downside...good luck.

Earnings play - HSOA looks ripe and ready for a symmetrical triangle (reversal) breakout.  They report tomorrow, and by all expectations, earnings will probably be pretty good. All technicals have been coiling with the price action, and I think thewhole stocklemon fiasco may have finally blown over.

First target $8.00.  Just take a look at the chart.

Real ugly!!!

I actually made a veeeery bad decision and picked up some first thing as it was tradining up - average 6.09.  Didn't set a stop on it and got creamed!  Real ugly 1 day loss, but I made a mistake, got out at 4.40 and moved on.  trange tough, Earnings looked pretty good from wha I could tell, but I suppose it was their guidance that got people irked.  It tanked so hard and fast, I really didn't see it coming!

Oh well, I hope you still managed to get some profit out of this trade.

I dunno, if I hadn't just lost my shirt on this one today, I might agree that it could be a good buy. But while it looks like it might have found support at the ascending trendline from the recent lows, that was and UGLY sell-off on BIG volume.  HSO may have some trouble working that one off.  I would look for CCI to bottom and reverse, it may still pierce 5.00 in the aftermath of todays bloodbath.  eugh!

Hope you meant to say 5.40. Yes it dropped fast, when I saw it wasn't going to hold 6.00 I started a limit sell and then the drop, I quickly changed it to a market and sold between 6.02 and 5.69.
I did buy back in this morning,as I think the market overeacted. I still think we will hit your 8.00 before next quarter.
Title: HSOA analysis
Post by: David Randolph on November 20, 2006, 06:43:10 AM
1. Introduction

I made good trades on HSOA (HOM back then), and I see the 3 SOF Community still maintains an interest on the stock. I'll take a fresh new look at it today. If you're new to 3 Stocks on Fire, please register (http://www.3stocksonfire.org/trading/index.php?action=register) so you can receive our free newsletter.

2. Profile

Home Solutions of America, Inc. (HSOA) offers recovery, restoration, rebuilding/remodeling, and specialty interior services to commercial and residential properties in the United States. (complete profile here (http://finance.yahoo.com/q/pr?s=HSOA))

3. Technical Analysis
3.1. All History Chart

I wonder if this chart is completely correct. Perhaps there was a stock split in 1998 that wasn't adjusted.

3.2. Medium Term Chart

What a run, from just above $1 to $14 in just twelve months. Then a crash, why was this? I need to read the news of the time ... Technically the medium term trend is undefined.

3.3. Short Term Chart

We now have this symmetrical triangle on the chart. It can break one way or the other. The ascending trendline stands at $5.21 and the descending one is standing at $5.88.

I've seen stocks2watch2, alvin58, for3J1M and ScottishTrader a bit surprised about the red marubozu this past week. I need to know what was on that news, more than that, I need to insert the news in its proper historical context.

4. Fundamental Analysis
4.1. Number of Shares Outstanding

Here's at least part of the explanation for the fall in 2006: Look at the massive dilution in 2006, with the # shares outstanding growing from 28 million in 2005 to more than 47 million now.

The current market cap is 47,122,792*$5.36 = $252.58 M

Dilution increases market cap without the correspondent rise in the share price and reduces Earnings Per Share.

4.2. Liquidity

The current ratio of 1.4 is below my 2 minimum threshold. But the biggest problem is the composition of the current assets, which is mainly made of Receivables. Let's check the Receivables evolution on a quarter by quarter basis (just since 2003):

There was a big jump in Receivables in Q3, to $75 M. The market sure didn't like this, and it is a partial explanation for Tuesday's sell off.

4.3. Revenues

There was strong revenue growth in 04 and 05 and analysts are estimating more revenue growth for the entire fiscal 06 and 07.

Estimates for full year 2006 are in for $160.8 M (it needs to post $69 M in Q4 revenue to attain this, the best quarter on the company's history). The Price to Sales Ratio is $252.58 M/$160.8 M = 1.57.

4.4. Profits

06 EPS estimate is $0.62. The company made just $0.29 so far, so it needs to make $0.33 in the 4th quarter to meet Wall Street expectations. It will be hard, and the company already missed estimates in Q3:

This is another explanation for Tuesday's 15% decline.

5. General Overview

There are numerous fundamental problems with HOM: Massive dilution, extremely weak and suspicious balance sheet, revenue and EPS estimates that probably won't be met.

Also, the technical picture is in danger of getting decidedly bearish, if the stock falls down just another 5%, with a symmetrical triangle breaking on the downside.

Stocklemon has many articles on HSOA which fully explains what's going on inside the company:
06/02/2006 Stocklemon Reports on Home Solutions of America (http://www.stocklemon.com/06_02_06.html)
06/06/2006 Stocklemon Updates on Home Solutions of America (http://www.stocklemon.com/06_06_06.html)

10/18/2006  Stocklemon Updates on Home Solutions of America. (http://www.stocklemon.com/10_18_06.html)

My outlook on the stock is bearish, HSOA can go down to $1 (of course, the market cap will be many times bigger than the last time it was there).

I made nice profits on HSOA during HOM days (Thank you David) :)
I think this company started as a shell with all those reverse splits and benefited a lot because of hurricane Katrina.
Applaud you David for nice analysis. I wouldn't short it though too much negativity. :)
Title: Re: HSOA
Post by: dmdray69 on November 21, 2006, 09:52:47 PM
Hi David, thanks for the analysis but a few things were incorrect although it probably wouldn't change your opinion.  So far the made .33 cents on the year and the only estimate I could find was for 58 cents for the year making the 4th quarter need to be .25 cents.  The company just reconfirmed their yearly number target of 56 to 60 cents saying that this next quarter will be their best ever.  They missed estimates this quarter of .20 cents but they never gave quarterly guidance.
Their latest 2 acquisitions of Fireline and Associated Contractors has allowed them to  guide for 200M revs next year with 30% annual growth giving them a forward PE of 6.5.  The higher receivables seems to be normal for a company taking on large government contracts that deal with rebuilding the New Orleans area (money comes in slowly but it comes in!!).  To control this issue they were recently approved by a conglomerate of banks for 60 M in credit (giving a great deal of credibility to their future prospects IMO) as well as the latest 25 M surety bonds.
It seems to me they are seizing a great opportunity to grab a whole lot of work rebuilding in the wake of Katrina while growing a monster of a company (through smart acquisitions) that can have a real permanence in the area.  Not to mention slowly branching out to neighboring states and increasing their exposure into additional Home Depot stores, etc.
As far as a 1 dollar stock price that would give them a forward PE of 1.3.  Seems crazy to me but the shorts certainly seem to have a strangle hold on this one.  Ray

Very strong on a bad day for the market Friday.  I think spurred on by four insider buys in the last week which I think was spurred on by the road homes money finally coming in strong.  I think this will have a significant impact on the current quarter's revenues and put a lot of unkowns and questions about management to bed.  Up almost 20% in the last 10 days it seems that longs are starting to wrestle this away from the shorts with over 13 mil shares to cover.  This could get interesting if any PR comes out clarifying specific figures rolling into New Orleans.  I feel HSOA has a solid company in place to snatch up a lot of this money.  IMO

Very nice, broke 6.35 with a lot of room overhead to move.  I feel there is a lot of whispers about a sudden influx of cash to New Orleans.  Funny what happens when the politicians get embarrassed nationally.  Obviously the fact of 5 insider buys in the last week (including 25000 at 5.92 yesterday by F. Fradella) shows that they certainly feel good about where HSOA is heading.  Ray

"A golden cross occurs when a stock's (or anything else's) 50-day moving average trades above its 200-day moving average while both are increasing. AAPL has just experienced a golden cross as the chart below highlights."

Happening soon in HSOA.

Yeah, it's much better that way, to have short bagholders all the way up. Too much too fast leads to profit taking temptation.

The golden cross you refer to , what will that take about 4 or 5 more days to actually cross?

Crossed today right?

OK, I guess you're looking at the EMA and I was looking at the SMA. In that case it did cross. Is the EMA better to use here?

I don't have a real preference. It's just nice to report the good news. Heh.

From another stock board:

"Short position looks like it is covering gradually. Not sure that it will reach teens just yet but last two contract wins are good starts. Stock is up from around 4.50 to 7.49 since the two contract wins and that is a large gain. I think the contracts were 4 year contracts so we are talking roughly 50million of revenue a year which is roughly just below 50% of the entire 2006 revenue of 126million.

I can see this taking off. The company did say that margins going forward would be lower as their business mix changes but they look like they easily do the run rate EPS of $0.56 plus and a 20 multiple puts them at $11.00."

Thanks Dazz.

It's being gone after by the notorious crooked short-seller(s) "StockLemon.com" again:

http://stocklemon.com/index.php/2007/06/05/home-solutions-of-america-fraud-plain-and-simple/

But the brouhaha hasn't made me sold my position, which was established based on solid earnings and guidance:

Who is the fraud? I don't know. I report. You decide.

Home Solutions of America Responds To Investor Inquiries
Wednesday June 6, 9:52 am ET

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Home Solutions of America, Inc. (Nasdaq:HSOA - News; the "Company" or "Home Solutions"), a provider of restoration, construction and interior services to commercial and residential customers, responded today to investor inquiries for further details related to two recently announced contracts valued at approximately $100 million each.

Under the first contract, which is between the Company's Fireline Restoration, Inc. subsidiary ("Fireline") and Blue Diamond Construction, Inc. ("Blue Diamond"), a New York-based construction management firm, Fireline will assist in the development and construction of three projects including 339 residential condominiums and 160,000 square feet of mixed use retail space in New York. The first project is located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, the second in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn and the third in the Whitestone section of Queens. Fireline will provide restoration and rehabilitation services, which Fireline has provided to its customers for more than 10 years. The Company and Blue Diamond expect to announce additional details on the projects, including the selection of a development partner for the project that may be one of the largest multinational construction and engineering services companies in the world. The Blue Diamond contract is expected to be worth more than $100 million to Home Solutions.

An internet blog questioned the Company's second $100 million contract, under which Fireline will provide construction management, general contracting and development services for a 600,000 plus square foot retail center and corporate office site located in Hillsborough County, Florida. The blog falsely alleged that the contract was with Burton Katzman. However Katzman's company is not involved in any way with Fireline's project. The Company is currently unable to release additional details on the project due to confidentiality provisions with the contract. Many developers wait to publicly announce projects until they have negotiated the best deal possible with local municipalities for tax and other incentives.

An internet blog alleged that Rick Holowchak, the President of Blue Diamond, was charged by the New York Attorney General for not paying day laborers, but fails to mention that the case was dismissed. Mr. Holowchak and Blue Diamond have provided construction management/consulting services on numerous New York-city based projects similar to the projects announced in the Company's May 18th press release

"We have worked hard to transition Home Solutions from a company relying on catastrophic events to a broad-based diversified construction services company," said Frank J. Fradella, Chairman and CEO of Home Solutions. "We are confident that investors will continue to see the results of these initiatives throughout the course of the year. While we are unable to currently provide additional details on these contracts due to confidentiality provisions, we are certainly willing to provide copies of these contracts to any regulatory agency. We believe that over the coming weeks, as additional details on these contracts and other corporate developments are announced, that investors will recognize the progress the Company has made and value it accordingly."

The stock blog's website includes reports on other companies in which it defames management but fails to follow up the story when these same companies have appreciated in value.

"It is unfortunate that a nameless stock blog, without any contact information, attempts to intimidate investors for self-serving reasons," added Mr. Fradella. "While the blog is quick to accuse other companies of fraud, its self-serving statements, failure to disclose its trading positions and dubious track record on its stock selections suggests that investors should be cautious in considering such information. The Company intends to contact the regulatory agencies and file a complaint against the blog and those behind it whom we believe have attempted to benefit financially by manipulating our securities to the detriment of our shareholders."
