Title: Stocky's Diary
Post by: stocky on August 09, 2005, 02:48:05 PM
9 Aug, 2005

Just got bored and wanted to start this stuff. Lets see what I do. After yesterday, I am back in market. Just bending some rules and breaking some. Got hold of 8 [6 full and 2 half] more positions today:

NT, VLO, UPL, SWSI, ENER, END, CWPC, TNOG

I am already holding half position in AMEP. The reason for half position is the penny risk levels. I am not sure much about CWPC but will see if I can flip it today or tomorrow. Will dpend on its closing.

Any comments or criticism welcome.

Need some gold in portfolio.

Added GG.

You are soaking in oil.

10 August, 2005

yeah, I think oil and stocks does not mix well. With oil flying to north I wonder where will the market be. I am also looking to start another position in VPHM. But for a while I have enough oil stocks.

Flipped TNOG and CWPC.

Added APC, SU, APA, GMXR, TOPT and SOSA.

Yes, I am grabbing every oil and oil related stock on earth. Dont know why I am holding NT

My holdings are:
NT @ 3.09
GG @ 16.92
VLO @ 88.73
UPL @ 40.07
APC @ 88.91
APA @ 71.07
SU @ 56.68
SWSI @ 22.4
ENER @ 27.41
GMXR @ 19.85
TOPT @ 14.88
SOSA @ 12.47
END @ 4.48
AMEP @ .019

Flipped ENER and Added PQUE @ 8.52

It seems like Goldman Sachs was right about oil going to 100$

I think some money can be made at the moment in
   1. Oil      [I think the best bet are the already profitable companies]
   2. Gold   [GG is the best, though RGLD is also a good one]
   3. Steel  [I would be buying TONS in this sector]

Fully invested now but in coming days will be offloading NT and trim some of the oils. Like ENER but seems like oil plays will be the first beneficiaries. Alternates will come into play later and for this I think DSTI is still the best bet.

And I must admit that I am on the not-too-healthy diet of oil but I will be overweight [unlike the present fully weighted in oil] as long as crude futures closes above 60$

11 August 2005

Flipped TOPT [did not like the chart] and added TEC [seems to have one of the best charts].

Sold GMXR, SWSI [liked both stocks but both moved a lot during last few days], added steady riser KCS, another oil play.

Sold both AMEP and END.  [they both may give outstanding returns but I am not willing to take the risk at the moment]

Flipped SU. Though still owns 80% of oil. Would like this ratio to me max of 40%

Offloaded APA and APC. [they are the best low-risk oil plays but I am now interested in some diversification :)  [now having 44% of portfolio in oil,  8% tech, 8% gold, Rest in cash]

So I have no more trades for today. Just want to share few things here. You would have noticed that I loaded the portfolio in last two days with oil, then sold some of them for marginal profit. I have one theory that if your confidence is low then you can pick up the strongest group and do some small trades may be for even small profits. Once you show yourself that you can make it little, you will surely have richer confidence.

I thought of buying CRGO but I am least convienced by market action, b/c pennies are mercilessly crushed whenever the mo. turns south. Will see tomorrw if I can take a position in it. Also I have noted that its best to take position in a penny in the first half of day. Near the last hour and a half, daytraders usually jumps out.

It seems like alternate plays like DSTI and ESLR are going to be in play soon. Though DSTI is already up quite a bit, it can go higher. WWAT is the penny alt. play. But for momentum stocks the best runners will be the best known. So watch out DSTI. I may start a position in DSTI.

If you are watching oil and gold futures ramping up then have a look at Coffee also. I am watchin JVA in the group. Its low trading volume is keeping me away from jumping aboard.

Missed on both BCON and ANX. Dont have any excuses for that except I did not have free slots. And by the time I made space the duo had ran away.

At the end of day I must also add that selling END was a mistake. May get back in if I have a reasonable chance. The stock is strong technically and high crude will throw it lot higher.

Goodmorning. I thought of selling GG today but after the huge US trade deficit I am expecting further action in gold stocks. All my holdings are doing good though I am not satisfied with KCS. But will keep it and see how it moves.

I am watching VPHM for starting a position below 9.8. [If it breaches 10 then I hope there will be lot of stops that will trigger]

Sold NT.

Added VPHM and ANX

I may not be quite active in the next week due to some necessary in-state travel. But will try to be in touch.

Dusting along I-5 and already some 500 miles away from home. I am out of everything. Though all of my oil stocks got semi-slaughtered but VPHM gave me a surprise which one can only dream about. Will be holding my oil barrels little longer.

I still see oil and gold futures bullish. I am not chickening out as long gold holds above 447 and oil above 60. Also I got in  EYII @ 0.123, yesterday.

17 August 2005

On the road still. I will add MSPD, RITA and HYRF. But I have to sell some oil to make room for them. So here goes PQUE and KCS. Had I not enough oil I would have bought any oil related stock now. But its always important to diversify.

Keep an eye on BRVO. Its now at .78. I will like it to come to .60s range to pick up some.

Added cargo @ 0.025

So today I can say that my oil stocks got slaughtered. And tomorrow they may go further. I have a suspicion that today and tomorrow action have as much to do with options expiration as to profit taking. The only oil stock that I am worried about it TEC. The rest bunch of UPL, VLO and SOSA are prfoitable and respected companies. Since I am using Cash Account I can afford to be a bag holder for a while [as long as oil again flows cheaply then I have to run to gas station and dump my oil holdings].

Also I must say that I always add HALF position in pennies. Today missed on PLKC but may be another opportunity. I also added to my VPHM holding. Like both fundamentals and technicals. Good night all.

18th August, 2005

Another day on the road. Feel better with my holdings. Just TEC is giving me worries, though I was expecting it to test support at 6.3. If it closes below that mark then I am throwing it out no matter how much bubble is still left in the oil. Mindspeed too had the mind of its own today. My patience limit is close below 1.4.

On the positive end I am happy to have doubled my stake in VPHM yesterday. Also feel good to see ANX and RITA doing good. Rest of the stocks are ok. I will be still on the road for some time next week. I have my eyes on ELN, ADPT and offcourse DESC. But to accomodate the three I have to sell couple of oils or some other stocks. I will see how things develop on midday Monday. Take care all.

Holding:
ANX, VPHM [x2], GG, MSPD, RITA, VLO, UPL, SOSA, TEC, EYII [x0.5], CRGO [x0.5],  HYRF[x0.5]

Again could not be at the desk. Not even at the morning. I am in the process of switching my job which now happen to be dawn timed. Man I feel ppl having luxury of reading the tape as indeed lucky. Adopting position trading strategy of 3SF now. [infact I am doing it already now, and feel better :) ]

So my penny stocks are now taking the hit. Oil gang is coming back to life with TEC only underperforming. I am thinking of adding DESC. I am pleased with holding double position in VPHM but I will be taking half [or reducing to full position] soon. I am not happy with gold breaking down 447. I will be selling GG tomorrow. Goodluck everyone.

23 August 2005

So I got rid of my oil gang and GG. Bought DESC as I mentioned yesterday. I also sold ANX. Holding on three losing pennies and some plummpy stocks. MSPD is underperforming but will give it some room. RITA is ok and VPHM is brilliant.

I am now on 3SF diet [i.e. holding only daves picks] and thats the way if you have life and full time job [especially during market hours] outside the market. I may be staying away from pennies or will be reducing them. At the moment they are 15% of my portfolio but I am not comfortable losing truck loads on them. May be market is quite brutal with them at the moment.

About 40% in cash but would add patiently. My guess is market is going to make some strong move, most probably on the up side. Goodluck all.

Could not update earlier due to site being down. Its ok as it happens. Added BTUIx2, BCON, BRVO, HYQS [or whatever dont recall the symbol], added to CRGO. Sold RITA.

Tomorrow will be on the road again so wont post during the mkt time. May be later. But not sure. I am again not too much happy with my penny holdings. Will give them another day to show some life. However, with oil hydra sneaking its heads I doubt any positive action in mkt. Just gambled on BCON. Will hold it atleast till next couple of trading days. Goodluck all.

Ok again on the road. Just turfing b/w 5 N and 5 S a lot. I agree with david on the bearishness of market. Well done and applaud. It takes courage to say that. Based on this I lightened some of my positions, gone DESC, CRGO, and half stake in VPHM which was already inflated 20% of my portfolio. I am jittery about holding BCON but will hold through the weekend. Goodluck all.

Thanks Nikao. Well all my posts are here as contribution to 3SF community from whom I have personally benefited. Also I want to share what I feel, know and anticipate about the market and some individual stocks with the great 3SF community. I hope we all can benefit by the collective experience. I am just not the blog kind though I may be essentially doing the same ;)
Also here I can count on feedback from valued viewers like you and others. So being a regular here is quite satisfactory to me.

Just back to the base and tired. But I managed to flirt with my portfolio before I started back home. Sold MSPD and bought back DESC for discount to the price I sold. I was pleasantly surprised by BTUI and happy again with VPHM. Penny stocks are doing ok but again EYII is wipping out all penny gains and more. Have to be patient with the trio [EYII, HYRF, HQSM]. Market may give some short term bounce. I am still looking to trim down more. Probably BTUI and BCON may go next. Goodluck all.

So oil going above 70$ and media have a field day painting domesday scenario. If you are getting hurt at the pump then its already there. Just spicing up may lead to some unwise selling and panic buying. The best may be to wait on the side lines. I dont doubt the power of market but had I been day trading, then tomorrow would have given big gap down at the open and some recovery at the end [I expect some sort of action by someone to take care of oil]. Above 3$ a gallon alternate energy becomes feasible according to one commentatory [dont remember his name]. Loading up on some may be yes or no. Penny stocks may be the worst hit. Anyway will see how it plays before the open. Take care all.

Hi Stocky
Liked reading all you're post.Sounds like you're a good trader. Was wondering if this is real trading or just paper trading to see how you would do if it was real.I'm a small trader with hopes to be able to trade the way you do on you're post. It's hard to make large gains when you don't have enough to make large buy's.One thing I've learned is If you're going to make money trading you've got to make large buy's or you don't make enough money to buy more of another stock.Every time I make a gain another one takes it away but I'm determined to learn this or loose what little bit I have to trade and quit.
Best of luck in you're trading

So it turned out to be, lower open higher close. The dream of any day trader. However, I have only precious half an hour in the morning to look, decide and pull the trigger. Sold BTUI and my three pennies [HYRF, EYII, HQSM]. All three may be wonderful stocks but here I am shakey [not ready for any mega dips. If the market is truning bearish then penny stocks are going to be the most sensetive.

Thinking of buying some underwater 3SF portfolio stocks. That may be a better strategy then using my own brains ;)

I think HAL is going to benefit from the hurricanes. Dont know how much its going to add to the stock.

Thanks wrangler. Firstly I am myself a small trader, now a part time trader. Secondly whatever I am posting its for real, though I would like to put exact buys and sells but I am short on time but you can think of my buys and sells at market at close to open. In addition, its not a good principle to increase your trade size. The best could be 10% if you are small time holder and still the best may be 6.66%  Just take out the pay-check mentality and some gains and offcourse 'small' losses will pump up your portfolio steadily. Easiest way may be to go after 3SF portfolio. I wont recommend any penny plays for beginners or if you cant watch the tape all day.

Just goodluck and hope you make big in the market. :)

And as I said two days back I expect some action to be taken by someone to address the oil crisis. But here I will say that the bubble may be bigger than we anticipate. So may have to wait out for that. The biggest beneficiaries will be the alt. energy group which may see speed up in the interest in them.

BRVO has news out. Changed my initial plan, the test of support means it may rise further. I am holding for today atleast. Lets see how things develop today. I will be adding more here after I am back from work.

So my portfolio as of today close is VPHM, BRVO [1.75x], SVA[2x], SMTX[2x], SFP, HQSM[0.5x]

Goodluck all.

1st Sept, 2005

Watching the market and going to buy some 3SF rec shares.

Sold half of SMTX and bought HOM [2x], SYNC, SNUS.

BRVO, SVA and SNUS fall was painful but I am holding. I still have mixed feelings about the market but I have seen that contrarian viewpoint to the popular press usually help you a lot. Just want to make a point that risk is high out there but seems like we are in for higher prices.

Holding VPHM  2xSVA  SMTX  0.5xHQSM  SNUS  SYNC  2xHOM  2xBRVO  SFP

Must say that I am lacking some discipline in holding oversize holdings. So I will try to cut down those 2x to single position. I think VRA has a bullish pattern, may be good for quick 20% tomorrow. If you want to chase energy stocks then consider FCEL and ETP. They may still be cheap relative to the bubble group.

Goodluck all.

Bought some more SNUS. Just wanted to add some BRVO but will wait and see. If and ever BRVO starts showing up at SUBWAYS via Coke, its going to be nice :)

Anyway I am not getting into any debat about BRVO just holding it till its on 3SF portfolio. Now have buying power for just two more positions. May be selling some on Monday. Goodluck all.

So where the market is heading? We may know that by next Sunday. Some experts including David thinks that market is headed North atleast for short term. I think that has to be validated by action in atleast two sectors: BIOTECHs and SEMIs. For Biotechs I will be looking at Biotechs Holders Trust BBH and for Semis I will be looking at Semiconductors Holders Trust SMH. Or if you have been following DNA, CELG, TXN and NVDA then it pays to look at them also.

Keeping the bigger picture in focus is much more important now then ever. Above all I will be gradually reducing my exposure as I see this rally short lived [may be good for two to three weeks but can't really predict with any probability].  Also I will throw a word of caution that market may turn South even though now we are expecting some correction upward. Thats the hallmark of 'choppy markets' and one should be cautious of actual breakdowns as much as fake breakdowns.

Another two tickers to keep on radar for general picture are DIA [dow jones industrial] and OIH [Oil Service Holders Trust].

At the moment I am relaxing, just visiting mall, shopping around, reading books at library, listening to radio and watching some plays at home.

CLRT may jump tomorrow. So watchout.

Goodluck all.

6 Sept, 2005

Now thats I call action. My portfolio gained 5% [mouthwatering b/c I was holding about 30% cash] just today. All but SFP and HQSM gained a lot. I sold SYNC, reduced HOM to 1x from 2x and upped HQSM from 0.5x to 1x. I would like to reduce SVA, SNUS and BRVO from 2x to 1x.

As I said I will be reducing my exposure not withstanding where the market is going. Over times I have been comfortable with clearing my housing and start building all over again. Now thats short term trader itching in me. I have always been one but now holding lot longer and better thanks to  3SF [thank you David & Ramsburg and the community].

7 Sept, 2005

Another good day. As planned I trimmed BRVO to 1x. I am happy to see VPHM back in action. It is one of those stocks that you regret every time you sell. So now as a rule whenever I want to sell I first buy at dip and then sell only that part. Holding my core position at all times.

At the moment I am 28% in cash. I have some portfolio goals and if they are achieved then I may do some drastic selling. Though I would like to hold VPHM, BRVO, SVA and HOM for as long they are on the 3SF portfolio [after all I am piggy-backing david as much as possible]. That leaves my other four SFP, SNUS, SMTX, HQSM ready for selling on any spike. I am not comfortable holding SFP but will wait and see. Goodluck all.

Bought HYRF, SQUM, EYII, WWAT and NWRE. Reduced HQSM to half position. I will add more later.

Now thats called penny madness. But if its helping you achieve your portfolio goals its great. Today marks the first month of my diary and I have achieved a personal portfolio goal. All that while giving only half an hour to market daily. I am pleased and happy. As I said as soon as I get my portfolio goal I will be selling drastically. The first one to go will be the big penny movers. But for now I will be taking my wife to dinner and shopping [now you may know why I have to get my portfolio goals ;) ]

Thanks shaw, I hope everyone makes tons of money at 3SF. But it will be unfair to attribute SQUM to me. I picked it up from eliteG and have to give him atleast 5 applauds for that.

HYRF: open 0.58 high 0.89 today

Last few days of data:

date   close vol
09/02 0.24 565k - first break-out!!!
09/06 0.32 3.2 million
09/07 0.34 1.7 million
09/08 0.48 4.9 million
09/09 ?

Volume today so far (11:40am) 4 mil (10 times average).

Company is involved in water treatment.

News: Signed agreement with Chinese manufacturing.

Good pick.

I should have historical data on OB stocks.

SQUM:

opened $0.32 and high $0.43,  38% gain so far today.

vol so far 1 million 3x normal.

  News: bio software delivery (09/06)

  Another good pick.

It seems that OB stocks provides more big gainners than NASDAQ.

Its first big volume and gain is on Aug 3 vol 1.0 mill from 0.1 mil, price gained from 0.1->0.16 (60% gain)!!

now at 0.43, it is almost 300% gain in one month.

I usually am talking about 100% gain in one year.

Good work and will do more study on OB stocks.

Now sitting on 36% cash. I have found over time that waiting for right opportunities is lot better then buying blindly. Since I trade cash only account it has the restriction of settlement date. Which more and more requires wiser deployment of capital.

Winds are blowing North and have to see what best I can do. Will add more later.

I spent the whole weekend to build my OB database.

I bought 8 years of OB stock data (1/1/1997->9/9/2005) and will download daily data everyday.

I will use the same scan to find out the OB stock picks.

I prefer to look for two types of stocks:

1. In uptrend and have pulled back to ascending trendline support level in low volume;

2. Have built a long flat base and finally break-out the base with big volume.
If the break-out gain is too big (> 20%), may wait for pull-back before taking a position
In general, I prefer not going to have a rush-buy.

3. Must have fundamental support, have real unique products, real revenue,
    not story stocks.
BCON, SYNX, ALTI ... are story stocks their run cannot last. Buy with caution is OK.
VPHM, HYRF.OB, AOB, ... are undervalued stocks and is much safer to own.

Title: Re: Stocky's Diary

One more thing about penny stock investing:

If you have a big account ($1 million for example), you have to put 90% of the money into main board stocks because the market size for penny stock is quite small. No enough shares to buy.

For example, HYRF.OB at  $0.20/share, 100K shares only cost $20k and 200k share is
hard to get. Liquidity is also a big problem. If things is not what you expected, it is hard to sell.

Any opinion about it?

Shaw, thats very true. Its not just liquidity its also the high degree of risk that is associated with these penny monsters. However, if you are in the gambling mode then you can successfully jump along the momo and do some quick trades. Infact most of the time its sound strategy. Makes sense to take home 30% with less risk then to wait for it to become 10 beggar. Another way, especially if you have large position, is to sell part of what you have along the way.

With $1 million in account, I think its better to invest then to trade. David is on his way to covert $1k to $1M. Goodluck to him. Its tempting to follow but one may loose ones shirt if the person is putting more at risk then they can afford to loose. So if you have absolutely free $1k then its good to play the $1M lotto. I will call it speculation to the extreme.

For my portfolio I am going to do the balancing. High beta stocks are on the go but I think 20 Sept is going to be the important date for equities. If Fed gives break to the interest rate raises then it may have some going effect. However, I think S&P above 1250 is about to go into the mega bullish teritory. Dont like to make bullish or bearish calls but will be watching this unpredictable market. For a while will stick with whats working.

I will be watching Gold through GLD. Thanks setravis. Infact I must say that I need to watch your posts to make more bucks. ;)

I am eyeing starting one or two positions [lets see what 3SF new pick will be on the block on Monday]. Also I will be selling some positions in early morning strength.

I hate to hold SNUS now down about 9% from my cost avg. If it closes below 4.20 on monday, I will sell it on next open. I have been less patient with laggards and will be protecting my profits aggressively on SVA, HOM and the penny brigade, if the need arises.

The euphoria in Japan after the election may bode well for Japanese stocks. Lets see what market has in store for us tomorrow.

Goodluck all.

I am watching USGL[gold] EWJ [Jap ETF] DRC [oil services and new highs] CFK [oil] TGA [oil] AOB [another VPHM?].

Back from work :) Can add now.

Today I bought AOB @ 4.44, sold 1/3 BRVO @ 0.68, SQUM @ 0.47 and SNUS @ 4.51.

The big rise in NWRE, AOB, HOM, and SVA [fundamentally strong] was spoiled by equally or worst drops in BRVO, WWAT, EYII and HYRF [pennyland]. The no go stocks for me were VPHM and HQSM [seems both are deciding which way to go, and I am getting impatient]. So at the end of the day I was marginally down from yesterday level. Which meant I have to again push for my portfolio goals.

Cash 42%. I have been comfortable holding cash in the past and would like to raise even more cash. But I am reluctant to sell pennyland and fundo strongs. Will see what I can do with VPHM tomorrow.

I have NEXM, AQA, USGL and CY on my watchlist for tomorrow.

Goodluck all.

Bought NEXM @ 2.08
Sold WWAT @ .545
Doubled HYRF @ .6
Sold VPHM @ 16.85

Back from work. Sad to part with VPHM but may be back if the circumstances are right. HQSM decided to go up so happy about it. Massive profit taking HYRF and EYII and thus holding both bitterly. But I intend to add more.

Other stocks did fine and I am ok holding them for a while. However, still would like to raise some more cash. At the moment 48.4% cash.

I am watching NXXI, CTLM, TMY. But I am turning more and more bearish and my portfolio goal is again very near :). So will be looking to sell some stuff here.

SOLD:    NWRE, HYRF, NEXM, HQSM, EYII

HOLDING:    AOB, HOM, SVA, BRVO

Back from work. The selling in AOB, HOM, SVA was quite nasty today. I did not sell. Why? Because I dont want to buy them back high. I see the trio to do well once the triple witching week ends. Said that I will be on the guard for further losses.

Holding 72.6% cash.  1x AOB, 1x HOM, 1x SVA, 0.7x BRVO

Gold is king now [both technically and speculatively]. I hope I can buy some tomorrow. But wont like to play gap up. I'll be watching USGL, GG, NEM and GLD. In addition, if NEXM retreats to my previous buy level, I may be interested.

As always selling VPHM proved to be not a very good idea. Stock is up a lot in premarket. Not sure how gold stocks will react to the todays economic data. Bought half position in USGL and full position in GG.

Back from work. Dont like action in SVA and AOB.

Gold is on the run and there is no doubt about it. Any retreat in USGL and I will be adding more.

On the hunt for more gold.

Bought DROOY double position
Sold SVA
Doubled AOB position

A golden week. I see gold stocks going higher from current quotes. At the moment about 40% of portfolio in gold related stocks. Also holding about 50% in cash.

Again made it to my portfolio goal. As I said few days back I will be recklessly selling once I get there. I will be analyzing the markets and see what strategy to adopt. Once you are riding winners you usually gets complacent and throws cautions to wind. I would rather have something in pocket then watching 'potential' gains.

My holdings and how they are doing:
---------------------------------------------------
HOM      x1       +45.15%
USGL     x0.5     +21.67%
AOB      x2        +6.75%
GG        x1        +0.89%
DROOY  x2        +0.68%
BRVO    x0.7      -3.01%

Good morning everyone. I like the early calms of Saturdays. I would like to sleep more but could not. Have to enjoy every minute of it ;)

I visited COSTCO yesterday for some shopping. One thing I 'wished' there was SLAMMERS and I am certain that any PR with supplies to COSTCO will mean really something. Hope that could happen in near future. Like David I am long term bullish but near terms I am expecting least from BRVO due to the technical picture.

I think since I am mentioning 3SF picks here I have to request Ramsburg to move this thread to Members Board. This will be fair to subscribers and I hope will avoid any potential conflict with 3SF diclosure clauses after 30 September.

I am looking at 2 picks from saffeysite [MSLV, BVEW], 1 from eliteG [AVNC], 2 from JMoney aka J.B.[COOL, UNCN].

In addition, I am also looking at NEXM, VPHM, HQSM, HYRF, SQUM.

I will be reducing my double positions in AOB and DROOY to single positions, if they spike on Monday. [Now thats the day trader etching in me :)]

Good morning. Scanning the market. Seems like gold is running and oil is catching up today.

As planned, reduced DROOY and AOB to full position. [lucky to do that near highs 1.58 and 5.15]

Bought full positions in SVA, GOLD, GSS and CDE [just few pennies under david's buys]

Back from work.

At this point there are really four sectors: OIL, GOLD, RECONSTRUCTION and BIOTECH. If you are holding some other stock then you need to have some very solid reasons. A little pullback in gold stocks is a good opportunity.

Black gold may be the favourite for momo crowd for the whole week. And if you really want to pick some gems then dont forget the biotechs.

I would love to see some selling in VPHM kinds, so that I can buy a ship load [VPHM holders beware of my intentions :) ]. In addition, I am looking at GNTA, GERN, NEXM, NVAX.

Also I think stocks like HOM are going to be winners in the current scenario. Will scan for more reconstruction names.

I dont have OIL and I am concerned about it. When I started my diary I had about dozen names. And it takes lot of huffing and puffing to buy back higher. I will wait for david's take and picks. At the moment I think I have enough of defence in my portfolio. Quite curious how market will react to Fed.

My oil favourites still are VLO, CHK, UPL

Got some ideas from Cumulina - the alt energy queen about playing the alt. energy sector. Her takes are ENER, DSTI and ESLR. I prefer DSTI over ESLR and WWAT b/c of valuation and potential momo history. ENER is a winner in its own regard. For the time being I will watch them closely. Though when the madness is there you can get rich by just sitting on a sole oil gallon.

The gold&silver share is quite 'large'. Also I think GLD is the blue chip [ETF] of the sector and deserves better place then most of the gold stocks, so I may readjust the gold sector. Have not decided which one to dump.

Holding 35% in Gold & Silver Stocks [USGL, GG, GOLD, GSS, DROOY, CDE], 12.6% Biotech [AOB, SVA], 10.5% Reconstruction [HOM, thats my 6.66% has swelled to 10.5%  :-*], 4% Beverages [BRVO] and 36% Cash.

Stem cell related stocks are up. My favourite in the group GERN is up but not as much as STEM and ASTM. But would not like to buy on gap up. Will pass this opportunity.

Gold stocks seems overbought and we may see some more profit taking. But not sure where the price will end by the days end.

Doubled SVA at 3.8
Doubled GSS at 3.47

Back from work. So the golden profit taking did take place. Have to see tomorrow.

Supports on gold stocks:
GSS 3.21, DROOY 1.29, GOLD 14.38, GG 19.28, CDE 3.95

current prices
GSS 3.46, DROOY 1.34, GOLD 15.19, GG 19.69, CDE 4.06

And one of the best ways to track gold is GLD. So watch out. Also keep AUY on radar. It has better chart from many in the gold gang. Currently at support and have another support at 4.09.

Goodluck all.

Gold futures are up and seems like will lift the sector at open. I will continue with my plan.

Watching CHK.

Sold USGL, GSS, half of SVA, GG, half of DROOY

Back from work. Wow and whooshp. Not going to complaint about selling my gold goodies. My portfolio is working fine with DROOY, GOLD, CDE. Will buy along david any other gold stock. Thats why I say, lets trade with 3SF.

I am seeing buying opportunity developing in so many stocks. Gold stocks will run for sure but I need to have some settled cash in my account to buy when the stocks hit bottom when RITA has finally died.

I will be selling more tomorrow. Better to put cash in the pocket and step aside.

Meanwhile developing wish list:

1. VPHM
2. GOOG
3. AAPL

Can't argue the bull case :)  Will flow with general trend.

Getting ready for sells BUT will watch action in individual stocks at open.

Sold BRVO, SVA, AOB, DROOY [gold is bullish but this stock is bit risky for me, would add some other gold stock in its place].

Bought CHK and AOB [about 30 cents cheaper then I sold], VPHM

Part 2. Back from work. Ooops, so if my stock was hit real hard with 58% cash then I am assuming that if you have little loss then you are lucky. Dont worry we may see rally either tomorrow or early next week. And its part of the game, isn't it. Just keep ready your wish list.

Applaud and thanks wrangler for the pick. Just as a rule I donot trade PK now. The market is merciless and I donot trust anything but King Cash. If I am holding some stuff then I must emphasis that they are for now short term. Let see what tomorrow hold for us.

Goodluck all.

I have always distasted commodity related stocks, that includes both oil and gold, b/c of their dependence on the commodity price. Anyway, have to time them better in future.

I intend to be selling again today. The volatility has caused me quite a bit and would like to put more cash in the pocket.

Sold: CDE, CHK [intend to buy lower next week], AOB [technical picture has turned nasty to me]

Holding at the moment: HOM [will sell if I see a close below 4.5], GOLD [will leave this for a while], VPHM[would like to double it on any further weakness]

Bought HYRF, I think its getting ready for G-Pattern and I dont want to miss on that.

I think its time to update my wish list:

1. VLO
2. CHK
3. PDLI
4. SVA
5. ABGX
6. GOOG
7. AAPL
8. USGL

But I would like to buy them lot cheaper then the current quote. I hope I will get the opportunity by next week.

Sold half of HOM at 5.09

Bought HW at 37.05. I think this one should benefit from current storm and high oil scenario. Interesting company with triple digit growth. Currently the stock is at the support.

Sold rest of HOM at 5.35

King Cash: 75%
Holding: HW, GOLD, VPHM and HYRF

Off from work today and missing every minute of it. :)

Its pleasant weather here in LA and I am comfortable with holding 3/4th of portfolio in cash. Its going to be deceptive trading on Monday. I am not sure how much RITA is priced in but will come to know by Tuesday close. This is the best time to make your wish list. I have mine and I am regularly updating it. Though at the moment I prefer cash over any stock. Reason is pretty simple: I dont have a clue about the impact of RITA and how market is going to react. Will see that next week.

Strategy
Cash and Run. Taking small positions in strongest and may be less speculative stocks. I am finding it hard to find such stocks. 3SF has not come up with any new stock except 4 gold related stocks, in last week. My priority now is to tread carefully and preserve capital. I am sure I will miss many moves but hope that there will be better and bigger opportunities waiting in future.

Portfolio
GOLD x 1     +3.68%
HW    x 1     -0.27%
VPHM x 1     +4.22%
HYRF  x 0.7  +4.26%

I dont intend to keep these stocks for long term. Will sell sooner then later.

Goodluck all.

Though its true that gas retail is going down here in LA, which I think would be a temporary relief.

I would look for some very short term buying in some of my wish list and would like to book profits in my current holdings [except GOLD, which I think is one of the best stocks or ticker]

Wish List:
HOM, SVA, USGL, GSS, FCX, CHK [around 34], EWJ, GLD

EWJ is a slow mover but I think it could be a nice long term holding. Any weakness in oil group could be a good opportunity to start small position. Again CHK, VLO and UPL are my favorite in the group.

Starting this post I am going to post change in portfolio every week [above my latest portfolio goal, i.e. the benchmark]. This choosen bench mark is just a convenient way to track the progress. I am not putting any numbers b/c its immaterial, the gain/loss percentage is the real important thing.

Portfolio Level Compared to Benchmark [PLCB]= +1.23%

Trading Goals
All the times   = Preserving capital
Short Term [by 31 Dec, 2005]     = +47%   of PLCB
Medium Term [by 31 Dec, 2006]  = +167% of PLCB
Long Term [Continuous]  = Anything above Medium Term Goals

Speaking about Monday, I think traders were getting ahead of themselves and the market was pretty green on Thu and Fri. So I dont expect any bounce long lived. I am expecting downside pressure to increase once the eager hands jumps in. Candidly I have no clue and may be surprised by the market action. Would be quick in any trades though. Hope we all make a buck here.

Goodluck all.

I have decided to sell all my stocks by Tuesday. The reason is the schedule at my new job. Due to the schedule I am not sure about free time during market hours [atleast for couple of weeks].

Given the implied volatility I would rather be all cash [though I am already 75% cash]. Meanwhile I would only be updating the diary weekly.

Sold VPHM and GOLD. Will hold HW for atleast couple of more days.

I am expecting momentum in HYRF, so will wait for it a bit.

Waited on HYRF, and it could go up in a big way. But I am getting out as planned. Sold HYRF. Now only left with HW which I hope to sell by tomorrow

Thanks wrangler. Also I did not intend to add more but liked to quote Alan Farley advice in the current market:

===========================================================
What can you do to prosper in this tough-luck environment? Here are three trading strategies that should work well in the weeks ahead.

1. Cut down position size, frequency and holding period. Be patient and don't try to get rich in a market that's not offering the low-hanging fruit. Sitting on your hands is an aggressive strategy when applied at the right time ... and that time is now.

2. Focus your attention on the handful of sectors that still work in this environment. Katrina plays and biotech stocks illustrate two groups that don't seem affected by index twists and turns. Those are the right places to look for opportunities, if you feel like going long.

3. Build a list of short sales and the prices you're willing to sell on this bounce. But watch out because amateur short-selling has been very active since Katrina. This should trigger renewed short squeezes well into October
===========================================================

Hope that help somebody. Goodluck all.

It was harder then I thought, NOT the new job but living without the diary :)

I am back, though I still can't write consistently. I may have to get wireless broadband for my laptop otherwise T-mobile hotspot is making a killing on my account.

The market as I said is deceptive. However, I must add that OIL sector is making a move like G-Spot. The best of breed are still VLO, CHK, KCS, UPL, HAL [refiner, ngas, ngas, ind oil, oil service]. Also if you want to flirt with gold then GLD is the way to go. I must also say that some exposure to foreign markets is desireable in current scenario. The two I will suggest are EWJ [japs] and EWC [canada]. Chart of both these ETFs are remarkable.

And for sure if you are on 3SF then HYRF and EYII are plays. I have studied both and think they will eventually move lot higher then their current quote. But must add that they are risky play and usually I wont be buying them but yesterday I had to install water filter at home and could not get one which can filter out arsenic and metals along with other. I think if this product is properly marketed it has bright future. I am buying a truck load of HYRF and EYII.

I have decided to start postion at tomorrow open in HYRF [3.5x], EYII [2.5x], VLO[1.2x], CHK [1.2x], KCS [1.8x], UPL[1.2x], HAL[1.2x], GLD[1.2x], EWJ[1.2x] and EWC[1.2x].

Hope the above all add up to 15x. Let me count, seems like have to drop one, but may adjust to buy all. Goodluck all.

Stocky,

Nice sentiments and glad to see you couldn't stay out for long.  Just wanted to drop some suggestions by your way and see what you make of them.  All seem to be set up for big plays for tomorrow:

1. DESC - AE sector - broke resistance on ascending triangle and is ready to rip

2. MCEL - another AE - up big today on huge volume.  May consolidate tomorrow, but hopefully will push through

3. HEC - Oil production - consistently moving up over last 3-4 days, including solid rise today on big volume above short term resistance

4. OMNI - Oil services - 3 big rises with small pullbacks each time over last 5 days.  Today was particularly big and broke some longer term resistance.

5. AAPL - and on the off-chance as I saw you were interested, pulled back substantially today on faulty iPod news, and had a downgrade this evening too.  I reckon it could drop some more and could get a buy around the ascending trendline, which as I see it is just below $50, providing it doesn't brake this.

I've posted analyses on all of these (except AAPL) today on the 3SOF boards.  Have a look and see what you think, and let me know ???

as always, happy trading  ;D

Hi scottishtrader, I am bullish on oil. The news talk that everything is ok after RITA may have given some ppl a chance to pick oil stocks cheaper and I think the sector may still have some profits left. Your all oil picks seems good. I am big fan of AAPL and I think its a great long term holding. But wont buying right now. Though I think the biggest future winner in tech may be, GOOG. And I would be watching it carefully. I think MCEL is fav of momos so not playing it at the moment. Would like to stick with known and profitable names in oil and gas. In alternate energy area DESC is good play but if you want something less risky then ENER is the bet.

Ok I have decided to go ahead with my yesterday plan but wont be buying EWC for a while. It has about 25% oil exposure and I am already 45% in oil. But it seems to be one of the best ETFs around. May buy it later.

Oil patch is rocking but the penny bet has sunk portfolio for a while. Anyway I will be patient with them. Too tired to write more.

Goodluck all.

Well I lost some of my discipline and bought real heck load of pennies. Anyway I will be careful with that in the future. Sometimes when you are not focusing and the urge to trade or rather 'over trade' is there. And you fall to that urge. Every trader fall so. Let me put some advice from the swing mastero, Alan Farley here

=========================================================
How can you overcome the overtrading monster? Start with these seven remedial steps.

Create a trading diary. Write down every position you take and why it is worth the risk. Then keep one eye on your losses at all times. Pull out the diary and study every trade taken on your bad days.

Review the environment. Choppy markets trigger more overtrading than trending markets. Step back before the day begins and figure out what type of market you're really trading. This will lead to profound changes in strategy and discipline.

Study the charts. Was that a real pattern, or did you make one up in your head? The cold, hard numbers will keep you out of trouble as long as you're willing to follow their signals. And they're the best way to avoid impulsive behavior.

Talk to your spouse. It's hard to fight body chemistry, but dollars and cents need to be separated from thrills and chills. The best reality check I know is to confess my sins to my wife at the end of the day. She understands my trading habits better than I do.

Don't try to get even. The markets have no ego, are not out to get you and don't care about your opinion. The sooner you realize there is no revenge factor, the easier it will be to establish the discipline required to avoid overtrading.

Walk away. No one says you have to be in the market every single day. Take a few days off or shut down the computer when you reach a predetermined daily loss limit.

Study your winners. Look for the common theme when you bring home the bacon. Most overtrading is triggered by a fear of missing out on the next good trade. This can set off a series of bad positions because you're angry that the market isn't paying off.
=============================================================

Not selling any today. Anyway quite busy, would also be travelling.

Hi Stocky,

Man I could do with takeing a few leaves out of that book.  This week has not been pretty for me - am down about 7% on my portfolio, primarily because of overtrading and not taking the time to get the entry signals right.

Perhaps I should give myself a break, as I've only been at this properly for a couple of months, but after last month showing more than a 60% gain (mostly on HYRF) it is too easy to get greedy.

By the way, thanks for your comments on my plays.  Seeing as every one of them (except DESC) is down, it has made me realise that I need to seriously re-evaluate my picking and trading strategy.  I've been getting quite into TA and have been posting quite a few charts here, but my concern is that I am getting over-eager, wanting to see bullish patterns in everything.

It may take me closing out on all of these losses next week and going back to following David's picks only, running with his plans and studying them as well as charting (but not buying) the movements of other stocks I'm interested in.  I saw you did this a little while back too.

It has also made me realise that I need some solid long-termers in there that I believe will give good returns on a 6-12 month timescale - any suggestions?  Basically there is simply too much volatility in my portfolio.

One final lesson I have realised this week is don't jump into a stock only because you see it shoot up on huge volume.  These are the ones that may need the most DD, especially if it is a break from a previus pattern.  Am beginning to realise there are a lot of day traders and pros just dying to take your money if you chase breakers like this.  As they say, pigs get slaughtered.  Oh well, in this game you learn the hard way.

By the way, sorry to take over your thread with my little rant, just needed a place to voice my thoughts on what has been a painful week, but hopefully with some good lessons for me to learn.  Any suggestions from a more experienced trader, as always are welcome :)

Thanks ScottishTrader and Wrangler for comments and suggestions. There are infact two aspects to overtrading:

1. Greed
2. Time to get even or may be to cover up losses

I have the second reason to my credit more often then greed. I am also going through lot of stress due to my new job. Working like for 12hrs a day, 2 hrs on freeway, and then other daily pressures.

Just want to play little game starting middle of next week. Starting with $1000 I will be buying one of the 3SF recommendation [could be penny or otherwise but 3SF pick] and will compound. I will be buying and selling with David. So you all have knowledge of whats on the menu.

Too damn tired. Have to travel some 700 miles tomorrow. Goodluck all.

Today I was resting and enjoying quality time with my family at Universal Studio. David is right to say that trading should not take priority over things like family [or other relationships].

Will sell some stuff tomorrow to make room for my 1k 3SF compounding play.

Like new format of 3SF website. But my initial impression is that too much is said about 3SF and its more of a marketing oriented then a page I would like to bookmark. The index page should have simple icons for all important message boards and for the two portfolios. Though Yahoo does not have one of the best user interfaces, it does have six great simple icons which make navigation real easy. Looking forward to my 3XL T-shirt. Would love to wear it to Universal Sudios next time.

Sold GLD, HAL and EWJ

Its after a real long time that I had done some trades with good timing. Take the following cases:

Sold today at open [high for all these stocks]: UPL, CHK, KCS, VLO

Holding HYRF [3.5x], EYII [2x]

If you are looking for real good stock in energy sector then I think KCS and CHK along with UPL are the best. I dont know how long the pullback in energy sector will survive but if I ever again any energy stocks I will first consider these three.

I still think HYRF is undervalued, and EYII may be a good play too b/c of it. Dont know where the stocks will end up but I am not selling a single share unless David sell it.

So much blood on the street. Scary.

I will trim my positions in HYRF and EYII to 1x each on next trading day.

That may look like change of hearts but holding big positions and trimming down to the standard positions still means I am bullish on these stocks. Infact as a rule I wont be buying more then 0.5x for any OB [and wont buy any PK]. I still think that HYRF and EYII may be set for another beggar in a week time.

Goodluck all.

As planned trimmed HYRF and EYII at todays open to 1x positions [thats still twice my OB holding avg]. Though lucky to sell at days high again.

Also bought 0.5x positions in HEB and NVAX. I intend to add VICL if it does not open gap higher tomorrow.

Quoting master trader, Rev Shark "My gut feel is that we are on the verge of a bounce and I have covered all my hedges." I think that way too. Lets see what happens tomorrow. With bloody action again today I would like to sell all and go to the beach then to worry about any Black Monday or Black Tuesday. The pressure is not worth it :)

And quoting master swing trader, Alan Farley, "The financial markets offers profits in different ways at different times. Traders can't win by forcing their will on the current price action. Instead, spend a little quality time at the school of what works now and adjust your strategies to this tough October game."

I would like to buy SUNW today only if it comes closer to 4. Other then that I dont see many opportunities. Will watch HYRF and EYII both closely.

Back from work :)

Bought today SUNW [1x, stop at 3.95], doubled HEB to 1.2x, doubled NVAX to 1.2x. Holding and will continue to do so both HYRF and EYII.

I have to dig bit deepr into NVAX and HEB. The drop in SVA was nasty and I am not aware why it was. Will watch NVAX and HEB with possible stops near 1.8

Another busy day at work and market. Sold SUNW today at open. Bought SVA, VICL and added more HEB.

Holding: HEB [3x], NVAX, VICL, SVA, HYRF, EYII

Except EYII, I am happy holding the rest.

Made mistaken in my date keeping. This post is actually of 10 Oct.

Well not so good timing this time. Sold NVAX, VICL, SVA and EYII, in the first half hour of open.

Holding only HEB and HYRF.

I intend to hold HEB as long it closes above 1.87 which is reasonable support. If the stock gaps down a lot at open I will add to the position. This is risky day trading strategy but sometimes pays off.

I am comfortably above my portfolio goal and will step out of all stocks once I see it breaching.

Its tough out there.

Sold HEB toward the end of day. Quite a loss but that is part of the game.

Bought and sold JDSU for minor loss. Only holding HYRF.OB [1x]

Market is sliding and the best thing is to be in cash. Nothing is working and if HYRF is holding and advancing though with low volume then you can understand it could be ready for big move.

Thanks setravis, I wish I would have given more time, but can't do due to my hectic job commitments. Still hanging out tough.

The quest to find bottom is elusive. I am not giving much time to market but I would say the best method in current scenario may be day trading. Will see how David takes up the matter. I am not ready for shorting. Would wagger on pennies instead.

Quoting Rev Shark:

"What makes me a bit optimistic that a low is near is that we are seeing the opposite of the "sell the news" setup. Stocks are down sharply and negativity is high as earnings season is about to kick in. Many companies will just need to reassure investors that they are not suddenly going bankrupt and they will bounce after the pounding they have taken recently."

I am whopping 93% in cash. Also I think HYRF may be gathering steam for a big move up.

Intend to increase my stake in HYRF. But will decide finally in premarket.

The high gap up in HYRF and I did not buy as I said, no buy on gap ups. They are usually filled up. I am holding HYRF and inted to sell it near 1.8 like David. May add more, infact would have added if I had been watching the market near the end of the day.

Bought half positions in MWIS and HQSM. I missed one on BRVO but would like to jump aboard next week. Sitting on lot of cash but will wait. I am watching NVAX but still not convienced about market bounce.

Sometimes periods of inactivity leads to capital preservation. If you are not losing then you are infact winning. Heck atleast Scottrade guys pays some interest on cash account :)

I am eyeing NVAX again but would like to buy near 3.8 zone. And sell it if I see further weakness to 3.6 zone.

Though I may hold any buying if I see market going off the cliff.

Well I had the opportunity to watch the market for while I could not get enough courage to go along the crowd. I have to wait for david's take. If he is keeping the shares then I would get back in.

VLO, MGI, AAI, RDCM from 3SF and

YELL, GPN, SRCL, ADVS from my another subscription.

Still have about ten positions worth of cash. Will wait and see.

I am watching: ET, BRVO, WFMI, IVIL, RHAT and JCOM

Well now thats called bullish reversal and I was buying like a mad guy. I bought at open:

AAPL, SNDK, TEVA, SBUX, NBIX, TIE, TNE.

So holding now:

Tech H/W:   AAPL, SNDK
Tech S/W:   ADVS
Telecom:     RDCM, TNE
Finance:       MGI, GPN
Medical:       NBIX, TEVA, SRCL
Energy:       VLO
Metals:        TIE
Transport:   YELL, AAI
Resturant:   SBUX

Its after very long time that I am feeling good about whatever I am holding. I have three positions left and would like to buy picks from the competition

And I am seeing that mid and big cap after year of underperformance may be good place to park your money.

But I would be taking profits along the way. I am not forgetting the choppiness and the pain that comes with it. The first to go may be losers or least profitables. I dont appreciate playing earnings. So may out of plays which has earnings near.

I am watching CKCM, IVIL, LSCP, BRVO, WFMI

I have been hell of busy over the week at work (infact I am still are). I did some buying today in BRVO, XWG and earlier in PAX, CKCM and AOB [though I sold AOB today].

I am not able to concentrate much but getting into right stocks could mean cash pile. I will put some bullish stocks here later.

Oil and gas stocks are the one we should keep an eye on. They may be good shorts at the moment  but I dont think that weakness in the sector will persist for long time. They may come back with vengeance. I would be keeping eye on UPL, KCS, CHK, VLO and EPEX. Though wait for a while.

Quoting Ashbaugh

"While the markets are near-term extended, and due to consolidate following a strong one-week run, the real takeaway technically speaking is that the longer-term market backdrop has changed. Until proven otherwise, this is a market to buy on pullbacks to support".

I am looking forward to some buys. Will see what David has on menu. :)

Got into SOHU, AOB, TIII, DROOY, HQSM.

11 Nov, 2005

Sold AOB [get some more fast out of the fast one], DROOY

Added more TIII [now holding really big position in this one]

Holding: BRVO, XWG [I am not worried about dip in it, this one is way undervalued and a fast mover], PAX [would sell near original 1.15 target], CKCM, HQSM and SOHU

I am ok with all my holdings. I will be watching 3SOF Fast for further buys. I think SOHU and XWG both could pop up any time soon. BRVO and HQSM are dependent on the earnings and I will be watching them. I was too lazy to sell PAX and now I think that I may have better sell price then todays close. CKCM reminds me of SNDK. It has potential to double from its todays closing quote. So if you think you missed the move you are wrong. There may not be another dip ;) So come aboard, CKCM.

And I am putting my max money in TIII, this one is a real mover. Lets see what Monday has in store.

Yesterday while back from work I noticed Gas station selling gas good two quarters below where I used to fill the tank in hurricane furry days. Add to it the coverage of how big oil has fooled ppl and pushed prices up on local TV and you could see why energy sector despite being undervalued is not popping up. I still think its good to keep these stocks on the watch. The best in the group are familiar names UPL, CHK, KCS and VLO. Just keep watching them. I dont know when the trend will reverse but whenever it does I need to grab some.

I particularly like the 3SOF fast. I dont have the luxury to watch the market but it seems that this is the best portfolio in bullish markets and the best place to put ones money in. If things changes then this could give us some fast moving shorts. Just kiddin' I dont have guts to short any stock. :)

Technically, ELN is near breakout, if it does not gap higher on Monday, it could be a good buy.

Gold is on the brink of breakout. Its best to get into fast movers in the group. I may add small position in USGL and full position in HMY.

Also oil though technically weaker is amassing stregth. I missed on EPEX, UPL, VLO and KCS [my four favorite in the group] but would like to buy them even at higher levels now.

I would sell PWAV if closes below 12.35. For EMKR the sell is close below 5.55. Will hold CKCM and BRVO.

BOUGHT EPEX, KCS, DEZ, GTE.  My order on USGL did not fill and I am not chasing the stock.

Once again its calm Saturday here. I could not sleep enough, just to enjoy this calmness.

Market is strong and full of opportunities. However, its always good to be careful out there. My first priority has always been preserving the capital and at times it has resulted in missed opportunities. But atleast it keeps me and my portfolio saner if not overly exciting.

Also USGL, again gained a lot on Friday. Had I not sitting on a very big position in DEZ I would have jumped even at higher levels. If the gold stocks pull back and for that matter USGL too pull back then its a good buy. Though it does come crashing down when the sector comes down. True for all high betas.

Quoting Alan Farley: "In past years, the market has seen dramatic moves when approaching Thanksgiving in a bullish frame of mind." However, I will again readjust my portfolio in the strength. Energy may take a hit, and tech may fly, but the point is to keep head cool and execute your strategy, whatever that is.

Its going to be thinly traded week. With the mood swing is toward shopping I will be myself hunting for some bargains. WSJ syas that the nation is obssessed with coupons and rightly so, when you see your mail box stuffed with all the goodies its hard to resist. However, the best place I found to shop is Internet, and the best site to look at bargain is pricegrabber.com [especially for electroncis and computers stuff].

As for stocks I am particularly interested in SWIR if it does not open higher.

Most energy stocks are showing double bottom on ascending trendline. I am looking for good low P/E, high growth stocks in the sector. The best that comes to my mind is still VLO. Also not to left behind is CHAR.OB. Technically ATPG is the best performing in the energy sector. Now this shows there is so much good stuff out there. Though you have to wait for chilly winds to start blowing. I may keep just three names among the list of about six. I already own EGY, EPEX and KCS.

I would like to get my foot out of tech in the next couple of week. CKCM is still hell of cheap vs its growth and future potential, I would be keeping it atleast till the year end.

About Gold, I will quote analysis of Michael Ashbaugh:

"As a rule, gold is considered a leading indicator of inflation because the supply is relatively fixed, making the price sensitive to small increases in demand. So gold strengthening is consistent with rising inflation and the prospect of higher interest rates. From a technical standpoint, the uptrend that started June 17 has been confirmed, with the Gold & Silver Index now challenging eight-year highs".

Though I am heavily invested in Energy. I do have my stops. If thing goes the other way I may sell out. But I think I have to be bit patient with energy this time. I may be early but early bird catches the worm. ;)

Holding: CHAR, KCS, EPEX, BRVO, VLO, XSNX, UPL, EGY, CKCM

I may sell VLO next week for small profit and put money somewhere else.
Title: Stocky's Diary: Energy
Post by: stocky on November 26, 2005, 12:36:14 AM
26 Nov, 2005

I think there is small move going on in energy stocks and it could be fake or real only time will tell. So to protect myself, I have some numbers to keep in mind for these stocks.

LAST        TICKER    FAULT POINT          52 WEEK STRATA
========================================
101.28      VLO        97                           (104   -  117.25)
54.93        UPL        51                           (55    -  60.02)
26.10        KCS        23                           (27    -  28.87)
24.98        EPEX      23                           (26.80 -  28.49)
5.14          CHAR      4.75                        (5.5   -  7.43)
4.18          EGY        3.8                          (4.21  -  4.84)
0.36          XSNX      0.28                         (0.40  -  0.51)

I am keeping BRVO unless it breaks down 0.5 on above average volume and CKCM breaks down 25 on above average volume. I intend to keep three best energy stocks for medium to long term but its the market to tell me which one, when and how much. At the moment I am dangerously overweight in energy but would quickly flip if see things changing. However, need little chilly weather and some big money again flowing back to the sector.

In passing, I am fully invested now, but if I come across any new opportunities I will put them here. But unless I am putting my money where my posts are it would only be academic.

Some charts to show XLE [energy spider] 5 days and 6 month move compared to QQQQ and DOW. XLE last quote on Friday was 51. Support is at around 48.5 and resistance at 52 and 55. So that may give some reference to one's exit strategy.

I track market via these indices and ETFs

QQQQ   NASDAQ
SPY   S&P 500
DIA   Dow Jones Industrial
============================
OIH   Oil Services
XLE   Energy
GLD   Gold
XLI   Industries
UTH   Utilities

SMH   Semisconductors
HHH   Internet
BDH   Broadband
SWH   Software

They are very helpful if you are betting on a sector.

Master swing trader Alan Farley, is of the opinion that if OIH [on Friday 127.21] closes above 125 then it will signal a major breakout and could be start of next bullish move in energy sector. To read the complete article click below

Oooch. It really hurts. But the bet was on cold weather. Crude sunk and so did my portfolio. However, interestingly my key holding CHAR did not sink, albiet on low volume. I think the buyout date closing of Nelson Resources 12 Dec, may bring some windfalls for CHAR. Have to watch this one.

Sold EGY and CKCM. Hodling bleeding stocks of VLO, BRVO, EPEX, KCS, XSNX, UPL. Would be selling now.

Basonista I just like to read here and there. Nothing special. But if I found something interesting I put it here. Since joining my new job my free time has shrink. Starting January I will be going for my second MS and would be busy still more.

I have to now eat my words along with every sip of crude. Must say violated the diversification rule. But just have to wait what to do now.

So crude gave me headache again. This time going up after I sold. Thats the reason I dont like commodities. However, I am still holding CHAR and though it did not move with the sector, I think once the move in sector goes, then all boats floats.

Did not trade today. Though had my eye on BCRX but GERN experience told me to wait atleast a day or two.

Sold XING. Bought some more CHAR. Though I am not sure which way the company will go after recent news but ppl knew that the news was coming. Given the bullishness in oil and valuation of CHAR I would be watching it. Though I am less enthusiastic about it then before. Wont like to see it going below todays low.

I intend to buy back ELN and may be CKCM. But wont like to buy at higher gap at open.

Sold TIE and ERS.

Bought half position in VPHM. I would buy the rest tomorrow.

Holding ELN, VLO, HANS, CKCM, VPHM.

These all are high voltage stocks. Meaning you can get shocked if you are holding the naked end. But I am willing to bet on the best. Hope I am right. Otherwise sell is just a click away.

In the end, I would request David and Ramsbrug to give 3SOF performance based on the following criteria in addition to the one used i.e. since inception:

Year to Date %gain or loss    Read Since start of 2006

Trading for living is the most stressful thing. I did it for short time and found the stress was too much. If you are the one on the same track my suggestion is to put some money in saving account and get some return. I did not do the same, but pulled out. In the end its all about patience and risk taking. I will most probably hold my stocks. I have to make decision whether to buy some more VPHM or to go for some other HighVolta stock. I missed big run on USGL.OB after selling it earlier in week. However, I am not touching it. XWG is on my menu. But would see and wait till market opens.

Doubled my VPHM position. Now holding VPHM, VLO, CKCM, ELN and HANS.

I have room for about one to two more position but I would wait a bit.

Some stocks to look at today would be:  STJ, RIMM, CRM, KOMG, VAR, TELK. Got them from a very popular subscription service. Wont name here :)

:)CKCM: Completely at home with this tech play. Will hold.

HANS is down on profit taking. Ok with that. ELN has news on Monday that its going to have its ER on 31 Jan. I am not a big fan of holding my 'trades' near or over the ERs. So I may get out of this position with about 15% gain today.

Sold ELN, bought ARD.

Sold CKCM to protect profits, may buy back, but would like to wait for market correction or would buy some other opportunity.

Bought old friend, XSNX.

I am sensetive to any more drops in VPHM. May sell if that continues.

So you wrote off oil. Think again. Its not too late even now. I diagree with David on XSNX. With crude blasting past 70 [most probably], the crowd love for Alterante Energy will wake up. I am holding for that moment and willing to risk my neck on this. But the oil bubble we have yet to see.

I also bought USGL. If gold is to run then this is the best bet.

Holding: VLO, USGL, XSNX, CHAR, ARD, OXY, EGY.

And I am expecting that Crude will blast past 70$ and will make new highs. This energy rally is going to be stronger then the first. I am playing ARD for the stock contest which I already own. Seems like I would not be doing much of trading. Though I would like to have stocks like UPL, KCS, ERS in my portfolio ;)

Rish you are right. But the good thing about energy gang is that analysts do not take even the current price in their profits estimates. So if the price even hovers above 50 the energy gang will be enriching by boat loads. Anything going past 70 will be the golden goose. However, today I sold my two oil positions, EGY and OXY. And bought ERS and may buy another stock tomorrow. There may be short term pull back in the sector but I want to take some profit home and also to buy some other attractive opportunities. I personally think that another bloody pullback for market is overdue now. So fasten your seat belts.

I would be very careful banking on "oils blasting through 70".There is lots of resistance at that level and all the variables can change quickly stopping this upward pressure. We've seen it again and again...

Bought ANGN. This one is way undervalued only to be discovered by the masses. Would wait for big gain on this one.

So here goes CHAR.OB. In the chart below you can see where the big volume came: check it out

Its all near the 5 level and that did not result in further price erosion. I would wait for David's take on this but to me this is the opportunity. I may sell one of my holding and buy some more CHAR, but again will see what David says about that.

Holding ANGN, ARD, CHAR, ERS, USGL, VLO.

So I followed David on CHAR. It hurts but experience has shown that its better to let the losers go and keep the winners. Though I would sell ARD and VLO at break even if they fall to that level. Meaning setting blind stop just above my entry point.

ERS was strong again. I think this one should be taken seriously. I hope to keep it for some more time.

Today I was delighted to see 3SOF touching 200% gain since inception. I have been lucky to see the rise in the form of IIJI, DSTI, BRVO... just to name the few. Must say keep up the good work, you guys are certanily atleast 1000% at the moment ;)

Market is not about being right or wrong. Its about making money or in worst case saving your money. So going with that I sold both ARD and VLO to protect my slim profits. Also bought INSM.

I am tempted to take profits on fast moving ERS and also to compensate for my losses on CHAR. Sold half of ERS and Bought AOB.

And I am jumping back on HQSM on today's pullback.

Bought back my ARD shares at about 2 dollars less then I sold in the morning.

Sold rest of ERS and bought EGY.

I am off from work today and did some trading and portfolio readjustment. I think fundamentals on energy are strong and any break for crude above 70 will mean big gains for the sector. Though I would like to position before that happens. However, I would like to guard my both energy positions.

Holding ARD, ANGN, AOB, EGY, INSM, USGL, HQSM.

And I cleaned the house today and sold some good stocks to balance the things. I made four buys near open and have now about 5% of gain on each of them. Would like to hold them:

My buys and holding are:  ELN, ERS, CKCM, VPHM.

It was great opportunity to buy back ERS near where I sold. Though I bought back VPHM and CKCM quite higher then I sold earlier I think Its still great buy. I bought ELN atleast dollar lower then I sold earlier so its fine too. I am expecting all four to give up some gains but they are the four best bets at the moment.

I think ERS is what you can truely call 'Stock on Fire'. I am curious why David's filter did not pick up, or why they are still not picking up.

I bought DIET for short trade and not with long term prospective. Though after reading 1reilly post on DIET thread I would be doing DIET without using DIET products for the next 30 days. So I will be briefly posting what I am doing daily. Now thats going to be first time that I would really love something going down. I hate not getting fit into Stocks on fire TShirt.

My strategy for DIET is to use only the following for a day: Diet Pepsi [as much as I can drink :)], Sugarless Gum [Full Pack of 20 Orbit sticks], Max 2 Apples, Max 2 Oranges, Max 2 Veggie patties with bread, footlong Subway at night or any other equivalent with lot of fresh salad, Max 2 Yogurts. All this stuff is available at COSTCO and I would buy them for the whole week Sat Morning. I will put the cost of the purchased food and will let you know how much easy or difficult is to prepare. I dont see any preparation at the moment.  The bottomline is to see whether DIET offerings are supperior in anyway to what a folk like can buy from a grocery/wholesale store and still get the results with least trouble. >:D

Bought ERS at 17.34, thats almost 6 points lower then I sold yesterday. If its bull market correction then this is the best stock to own, if its bubble trouble then I would run for covers sooner. But for correction this is the strongest recoverer.

I would be watching ERS for any weakness and would place close stop loss. Though I will be considerate of any volatility. Though 20 day EMA lies near 17 and stock closing below this level would be an obvious sell signal.

Now left with GOOG and VPHM. Will probably wait on them till next week.

There is sharp selling going on and I think there are sellers at every resistance.

I am about 71% cash and would watch which way the market turns before jumping back. GOOG and VPHM are unique plays and I think I can hold them for a while. But I am not much enthusiastic about that ;)

Sold PTSC [I am still bullish on stock but I am not taking any chances before Fed opens its mouth tomorrow, also I have to neutralize my losses in GOOG].

Sold TGB for breakeven due to Fed and CEO opening their mouths tomorrow. I really hate holding stocks infront of earnings.

Bought TRAD, AOB, NIHK [G's Pick]

Goodluck and healthy eating.

Its hard to focus. I am damned tired at the end of day. I did not find time to write yesterday, but I made two buys: HQSM and PTSC. Today I also bought ELN.

I am doing some soul searching and reached the conclusion that I was day trader and I am
'day or two or three' trader. Realizing this fact has infact helped me understanding some of my mistakes and realise some of my better trading strategies. Anyway, I hope to be myself.

Holding: AOB, HQSM, NIHK, PTSC, TRAD and ELN.

Sold all goodies, includes quick in and out sale in dear friend PTSC.

I dont trust market action. I would rather be buying and selling frenzy stocks [read super momo stocks] for quick flip then to hold a bag and pray.

And just a suggestion: If you want to make money, just go to G's place and see what you can do with your multi-baggers.

Bought NICH on Friday. There are rather two bad things about my trade. First buying near 8.0 and also buying rather quite a big size. It seems like I am going to be bag holder on this one if it closes below 6.30 for short term. On the bright side I still see both fundamentals and technicals intact. Will see how the action evolves next week.

NICH: Sold with nice 5% gain instead of losing 15% at one time. David was right on target when he analyzed. I did not have nerves to hold it longer. Though I think 5% gain for couple of days is more then ok for me.

Holding: CASH 100%

I am not playing the market again. Though Nasdaq is technically intact I dont see why many bulls will jump in. Let the bears play for a while. The tax deadline is approaching and I am not finding time to do my taxes [have 29 pages of 1099, so you can understand what I am talking about]. At the moment I think TurboTax online may be the best place. I may go for the TurboTax Premier with Audit Protection feature.

Stocky, if you don't already use it, one of the quicken programs may save you some time.  I have been using Quicken for a few years to track family finances and starting using it last spring for my stocks also (started trading in April).  It is an easy import into Turbotax (got Premier on Ebay) so you don't have to input every single trade.  I don't know how many transactions you would have but my total was just over 500. :o  I can't imagine how long it would take me to enter those in, one by one.  The $40 I spent on the latest Quicken and Turbotax was well worth it if not for that feature.  I still have to go through the imported info to make sure it's all there but the totals line up already.   :)

Also, some brokerages allow an easy export and import into Turbotax.  I'm with Ameritrade which doesn't allow it but your brokerage may.  If you want me to check in my program, post your brokerage and I can see if it's in the list.

with so many trades in a year, can you claim trader status?  Per Ted Tesser's book might be able to save a lot if do.  Well maybe something to discuss.  Not sure if appropriate in this thread.  If not, let me know and I might start another thread to discuss trader status.

Basonista, my brokerage is scottrade and I am sure I am doing more than 500 trades. If you can check in your program that I can import file from Scottrade and how can I do my taxes with maybe turbotax or other software 'easily'. i.e. I wont like to enter each and every trade :)

Today I did some Random Trading with PTSC and ran away with quick small profit. Ok for me. I am thinking of making it as my core 'strategy' if one can call it a strategy. Just I have to know where the button is. Eyeing XSNX for tomrrow's random action.

I dumped Homer Simpson and got this dude on my profile to truly reflect my trading style. Let me be more honest with myself. ;)

Randomed: XSNX, EZM, PTSC.

Unloaded: XSNX++, EZM=

The bet on XSNX was good one, so was PTSC. I think PTSC is all set to break recent high of 1.62 and you all know what that mean. PTSC has given very systematic entry point by going down at the open and romping up later. I think when this thing repeatedly happens, it does not happen. Meaning, Monday may not give the early dip for day traders and waiting too long may miss the bus. Also I am expecting some sort of news coming out. With 150 companies on the list, if you assume some linear distribution then 150/52 = approx. 3 companies signing up every week, or 3 news per week. Well I will call this gold ol' pumping. But I would be happy with 1 news per 2 weeks. Also my intention with this stock or any other is Randomized Profits. Which means I may have multiple entries even if I am bullish, which means I would take small profits as I can get.  So thats quite risky. But I am happy with this style at the moment.

I see NICH as lot of potential for random profits. :)

I am also eyeing CKCM for some position. I have liked the company and was my first pick in the 1k contest. I think this one could be a mover if the leadership firmly goes to tech. But wont buy into any gap up at the open.

Plz note, I did not buy NICH. I am not sure I will trade any more stocks this week. I already have too much on my hand and the workload is already driving me nuts. It will be good for my sanity to walk away with cash and return when I have fixed other urgent stuffs. Hope to be back by March 15.

I did not intend to jump back but I see a random opportunity in PTSC again. I intend to buy at open on Friday. The stock has a feeble resistance at 1.91 and I am sure that there will be gap up at the open may be near 1.83 but I think its ok. We will see atleast something near 2 tomorrow in my random opinion.

Over the last couple of week, PTSC has enormous gains even in the face of choppy market and I see no reason that it has some life and juice left for random traders like me. Though to play it you need to have fast fingers and litte greed.

The action in PTSC today has resulted in support around 1.58 and I wont like to see it closing below this point. I do think that PTSC may rocket with some good news. In the absence it will driftly downward on low volume. I am learning to be patient with this stock. Quite ironic for random trader like me. The truth however is that I am not finding much time to trade. But I am focusing PTSC and think it has firepower left.

I sold my position in PTSC at open today. I think technically the stock is wounded and as I mentioned in my last few posts its going to drift down till some good news comes. At the risk of missing any rally I am waiting out till PTSC has shed some more weight. I can loose small but would hate to loose big. Though I am still bullish on this stock. This one has the potential to double on big news.

Its tough, fast and busy here in LA. Had it not been David's advice to have some kind employment or business as source of income rather then trading, I would have been out and beaten. I am glad that I took the advice and now I think I am much much better financially and can take losses not only with grace but with some cushion. This does not mean that you work to earn and trade to lose but on the contrary you trade to supplement what you have. For this reason alone I would be applauding David whenever I see the applaud button next to his name. I think his experience in trading just goes beyond the multi tripple digit gains. Indeed he is the mastero.

Back to my holdings. I think I violated my flip rules for EONC and AANI. I dont particularly like EONC chart. I will sell this microbaby on Monday. I am ok with AANI but will not tolerate any close or even intra day move below 1.10.

Hi stocky
After reading this I got the feeling you're a day trader, the hardest of all trading. It sounds as though you've had a hard time at it. I want to reccommend a book for you. I'm not a daytrader but my plan is to start this as my part time income sometime this year and grow it into my full time income.
Even though I'm not daytrding yet I'm getting prepared for it and this book has already beginning to give me the tools for it ,,hope you will also recieve some valuable info from it if you decide to get it.
"" The Market Maker's Edge"",Author Josh Lukeman. He is an institutional Nasdaq market maker at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. It's a very good book that I would not reccommend if I didn't think it would be worth reading and it deals a lot about insight to daytrading along with swing and long term trading.
Goodluck trading :)

Pennies are not for the faint hearted. If you are willing to take risk and make big then you can try your 'hand'. However, if you think that speculation is there then you are not too late. As long as there is fire of speculation, the merry can go round.

GSHF and VRDM are enjoying the speculation ride. Even when the today's market was weak [that included Energy and alt.Energy stocks as well] the duo was speeding up, only to see some profit taking. As long as crude is above 65 or to make it more banner in 70s, we can see the action in them. The energy bubble is here and I intend to buy some more VRDM after the market opens.

Bought another bunch of VRDM this morning.

I think VRDM is ready to make a big leap. Happy with both GSHF and VRDM. Holding ton of cash too. But not rushing in.

In normal trades I would book my profits even if I have like 2% profit on a trade. Not in the case of VRDM and GSHF. I am keeping these positions. For a very simple reason: The story has just begun. This duo can run atleast till May 4. So I am not abandoning. However, to limit my risk exposure I have about 7.5% position in each of the two.

Made string of buys in names: ERS, NTRI, CHK, CHID, DTLK, TGB, EZM, VLO, TGC, GV.

Now holding: VRDM, GSHF, CHK, NTRI, ERS, CHID, DTLK, TGB, EZM, VLO, TGC, GV.

Sitting and holding: VRDM, GSHF, CHK, NTRI, ERS, CHID, DTLK, TGB, EZM, VLO, TGC, GV.

Will not sell VRDM or GSHF on profit taking, however, mental stops are there.

nice diary. I am also tracking VRDM. I'm not disciplined nor as patient as you so i'm usually in and out within a day. I keep my limit orders at .26 and then i sell at .28
its a real nice day trade. I know this is going to be long term explosive, but i'll take a few percent a day.

Thanks hermanpu. My normal trading stock is akin yours, thats short term trading. I donot appreciate buy and hold for even a week period. Bush's speech may have taken some hot air from the VRDM and GSHF due to his directive to loosen environmental standards, for which Ethanol was a replacement. Now thats not mentioned but it seems like that. I will be selling the duo to protect my profit and capital.

Sold VRDM and GSHF.

Bought CUP and doubled my stake in TGC.

Holding: CHID, CHK, CUP, DTLK, ERS, EZM, GV, NTRI, TGB, TGC, VLO.

My holdings shows Energy, Metals and couple of hot names.

Days like today are the best days to buy energy and metal. Ethanol plays may also be good but I dont want to soak my skin in them for now.

Hi eager, thanks for being around. My view that today is good day for energy and metal buys is based on my short term trading perspective. Both groups are strongest at the moment. Take the case of ERS which swung from near 43 to 49 intraday. Same goes with CUP. Infact VLO swung 3 points intrday from low to high. These moves are enough for random trades. I am not sure what kind of trader you are but I usually trade in whats hot, so for mid to longer term perspective it would be good idea to see the global macro and domestic economic factors. I think crude will test support near 70 and rebound. The commodity bull market is firing on full cylinders and I see the current selloff as profit taking. However, I have mental stops on all my trades and flip-flop a lot. ;)

Hi Stocky, i am a follower of your diary too  ;).
Can u elaborate on the above statement? and how do u think china raising rate will affect energy and metal prices in the near future?  i am waiting to get back in energy and metal , so very interested in your views.
Thanks!

I will be selling out of few names just to build the cash. The run in energy and metals is far from over. Just my random instincts likes to hold some cash for explosive opportunities.

Sold ERS, VLO, CHK, EZM, DTLK and NTRI.

Holding: TGC, GV, CUP, CHID and TGB.

This gives me exposure to both metals and energy. Plus value plays in construction and telecom. Itil am a short term 'random' trader who picks up strong moving often volatile stocks and exit with slim profits. This style has worked for me and I will stick to it.

What it takes to make money in the market?

Its hard for me to answer and I am still in quest to know that. About 10 months back when I joined 3SoF, I knew that I am at a very special place where some very gifted people are around. I enthusiastically read and traded. Over period of time I developed my own style - randomization, which is "fast trading in hot stocks". However, 3SoF is the place where I found my inspiration and enjoyed what I traded. I will say it has been a wonderful time at 3SoF.

Thank you 3SoF.

Hi stocky
One way I'm learning is to use margin accounts as my advantage to sell after buying without having to wait out the 3 day unsettled funds you would normally have to wait for but only for this do I use it because to buy stocks on margin with funds that doesn't belong to you I consider playing Russian Roulette.
Now with that in mind I watch CNBC pre-market tickers before market opens and see what's trading high from the previous day and usually you can see about four to five good day trades about to happen and when I plan a trade for one my plan is to sell by the end of the day because usually the stock that is having a rallly for that day will pull back the next day or two. Also when playing this way watch stock for about the first hour after market opens to make sure it not just being pump and then dump for short selling going on, a real day rally will continue it's run right up to closing bell.
Watch this method for a while and track those that come out strong at opening bell that is trading higher than the previous day on pre-market trading and you will begin to see what I'm referring to.
Write down previous day's close what pre-market it's trading at 8:00AM then at 8:30 AM then at 9:00 AM and opening bell to show which one is the strongest and that will be the one to plan the day trade.
Don't know if you might try this but it has worked out some very good day trading for me.
Goodluck trading :)

Thanks Wrangler, but I am sort of tied to my present cash only account. And thats relate to some of my big losses couple of years back when I started trading. Now to move to another account I will be risking Loss Carry Forward on my tax returns. So I am staying put.

But I found that daytrading is better in choppy markets then buy and hold. I agree the pre-market activity does usually prelude to stronger action later in day. However, I usually like to pickup stock on pullbacks, and on those days I am usually late for work ;)

Applaud and wish you luck.

Bear markets has no support and bull markets has no resistance.

Today's action seems to be dead cat bounce, followed by more losses. I did a quick loss trade on CHID and now feel more bitter. Anyway, its part of the game. I am not entering the woods again unless bears have fed enough.

Today I sat through the whole market and my take is that this market has more room to go down. I bought number of positions but sold all [including CHID, for which I am kicking myself]. But I am not yet bullish on market. So its better to sit out. It seems like that the indices will close red. The market has to stop sliding down and consolidate, then there may be opportunity for long trades. Till then I will suggest preserve your capital.

I can take a half sigh of relief, my sell order for GV was executed today at open, AE did not. I dont want to paint a gloomy picture but its true that time to buy stocks is not yet here. I am still holding AE and will sell into any strength. Same will be in the mind of many holders. So it creates a ripple effect. Just in conclusion its not pretty out there. You can beat the market now by just staying in cash. Best thing will be to make the wish list. I have GV and CHID as two top buys on the list whenever the market shows clear signs of bottom.

stocky,

Gold got oversold short term then rallied back up above the 38%, 50% then 62% Fibonacci to to top Bollinger band so is now pulling back again. This time of year until September is traditionally weak for gold. Gold also traditionally will tag the 65-week moving average and that has been an excellent buy point. The 50-day EMA is worth watching as it may again put in a shorter term bounce there or it may at that time not be ready to touch the 65-week, It depends on the position of that moving average at that time.

" Lumera has begun presales activities for its ProteomicProcessor(TM) platform in anticipation of the product launch in the fourth quarter. In addition to the demonstration at Cold Spring Harbor, Lumera is ramping their sales and marketing activities which include a focus group of therapeutic antibody companies, presentations at leading biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, and product presentation at leading conferences. In anticipation of the fourth quarter product launch, the company has begun to increase sales and marketing personnel, recently adding an Applications Scientist to support the growing user base."

" Revenues for the three months ended March 31, 2006 increased by $263,000 to $503,000 compared to $240,000 for the same period in 2005. Our net loss for the quarter totaled $3,120,000 or $0.19 per share compared to $2,878,000 or $0.17 per share in the prior year quarter.

"We were pleased during the first quarter that we finalized two very important collaborative agreements that demonstrate clear progress toward achieving our outlined strategy. We continue to gain market validation of our products and expect this acceptance will translate to increased revenues later this year," said Lumera Chief Executive Officer Tom Mino."

" "We are very proud to have been selected by DARPA for this important project. The recent advance that Lumera has made on our polymers' electro-optic properties and device design was a key factor in our winning this contract over competition from multi-billion dollar international corporations," said Tom Mino, President and Chief Executive Officer."
" Dr. Raluca Dinu, Director of Electro-Optics Business Division, added: "The effort required to meet the goals of the DARPA award directly parallel the roadmap for our commercial products. We anticipate that this could generate significant revenues in materials, modulator devices and systems. Applications for these products are optical components and communication systems, sensing and imaging, and interconnect markets. Recent forecasts predict $400 million in modulator sales by 2010."

Stocky, on your blog, you should post buy price and sell price or give updates when you buy or sell. It would be more interesting.

Its a happy day to know that David is back. That may be an old news but I am less frequent visitor here. Will visit more often now.

I got out of LMRA for a loss and will not touch it unless it closes above 10.2 or moves above 10.35. And if that happens I assure you that LMRA will have another double digit gain day. By that time to me its not a good stock to play.

Real, thanks for visiting the blog, I appreicate your comment. I usually enter and exit a stock with multiple positions, most of them in a single day, so tracking the cost basis is a task bit harder for me. If I intend to hold a stock for say over a week I may put the buy and sell price. So at the moment when I am in and out several times, it may not be an easy task.

Goodluck all.

It has been long long weekend. I am not sure if Turkey would have enjoyed it but we enjoyed the Turkey atleast. Need to do some DIET now. The new year is coming and I found two very interesting modules at Google Personalized Home: One relates to EXPENSE TRACKING and the second one GOOGLE 15 logs and tracks daily weight. I strongly recommend trying both.

Goodluck all.
Title: Stocky's Diary: MKTY

Market is now behaving better then the wild parabolic moves up. But if you have noticed yesterday it was the day of low floats small digit stocks. Some moving for no reason. There is one stock that I bought a small position yesterday and I do think it may move during this week is MKTY. If it crosses 2.5 I would like to double up. But will have a stop at 2.34 if I am wrong. The next stop for MKTY may be 3.0.

I decided to wake up on this board well, I am really sleeping even on my own blog but still will be visiting here too.

I think MVIS has legs to run tomorrow as well [atleast].

Thanks David for showing up at my blog. But I have changed my core strategy from randomness to something akin to 3SoF. And hence I closed my old blog and started with new one, stockysdiary.blogspot.com.

I am long MVIS.
