EGHT...have invested in the past, even with the name change to Synergy, then back to 8x8.

I am long on this stock for fundamentals and growth potential.  Sold out of stock at $1.90 to pursue other short term gains.  Looking to get back in at good price.  Should report earnings tomorrow, which presumably not great, but CEO to present on Thursday which I anticipate to be followed by institutional buying.

Any advice?

I'm not sure if todays session was a sell signal, because the overall short term pattern is very strong, with an ascending support and big volume. I don't believe on a correction below $1.85 for the next days.

HAve played EGHT also and posted here on it. The 200ema sure is the resistance area $2.44 on the daily chart so far it has only spiked through it. I try not to hold through earnings so will be watching. $2 is key support for me.

Guys I know this stock makes everyone a little nervous but something is brewing! Most say no news means no business but I think the guys have been heads down working on some deals.

-First, the whole VOIP sector is hot and consolidation will occur
-BLS and other major carriers are in need of a consumer VOIP product which they don't currenty have. Outsourcing could be a short term answer or a test phase for a buy out.
-125mln shelf offering, some think they need to continue operations but if a major deal were to have landed then they would need capital to be able to handle business mobility issues.
-They have a nice patent package that's true value has yet to be unveiled.

Thoughts?

Time will tell but my money's on EGHT.

Stock has been held up for a week and today large buying at COB.

Post by: fous on September 17, 2005, 10:50:10 PM
EGHT is forming a beautiful Ascending triangle with a profitable projected target out of the breakout point. Along with a great financial backbone.

Company Profile:

8x8, Inc. develops, markets and sells telecommunication services and technology for Internet protocol (IP) telephony and video applications. The Company's products include the Packet8 broadband voice-over Internet protocol (VoIP) phone service, Packet8 Virtual Office service and Packet8 videophone equipment and services. The Packet8 voice and video communications service (Packet8) enables broadband Internet users to add digital voice and video communications services to their high-speed Internet connection. Packet8 Virtual Office is an alternative to private branch exchange (PBX) systems or Centrex class services from legacy telecommunications providers, and provides added features and services. Other offerings include wholesale voice and video services, desktop terminal adapter (DTA), desktop IP videophone and Packet8 enabled handsets.

On August 25 8x8 had their share holders conference and had some great developments in their financials. I copied some slides out of the PDF file and posted them below. This company is growing fast stock prices should reflect the growth of the company I havn't been able to find anything on the release of the Q3 financial report or any estimates of what there revs, net inc, etc. are. So if anyone can come up with any info i would appreciate it!

-8x8 has had some nice PR's recently as well. One of the share holders of EGHT has dontated 100 Packet8 VideoPhones to emergency personel services to aid in the Katrina disaster. This is irrelavent in bringing in money in the event itself. But this is excellent advertisement for the companies products and gives the company an excellent name.

Level 3 communications(LVLT) Another company that caught my interest about a week ago i see is also involved in this company ;D Heres a recent PR of their relationship:

NEWS:
Level 3 Communications (NASDAQ: LVLT) and 8x8, Inc. (NASDAQ: EGHT), the Packet8® broadband voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and videophone communications service provider, today announced enhancements to their business partnership to deliver high-quality VoIP and videophone solutions to 8x8's customers nationwide. In an effort to accelerate VoIP reach and adoption, Level 3 and 8x8 will collaborate to expand 8x8's residential and small business channel and partner programs. 8x8 offers a variety of channel programs including agent, co-branded and wholesale models to support the capability to reach these two key market segments.

Level 3 and 8x8 have worked together for nearly three years to deliver voice and video services over Level 3's network, which is one of the largest Internet backbones in the world. To date, Level 3 has provided 8x8 with (3)VoIP(SM) Local Inbound, (3)VoIP Enhanced(SM) Local, and E-911 services for subscribers of Packet8 services.

Under the terms of their ongoing expanded relationship, Level 3 is the wholesale network carrier for 8x8's Packet8 voice and video Internet phone services, and 8x8 is a member of the Level(3)Enabled(SM) Master Reseller program, a program that provides assistance in driving sales for select partners. As part of this program Level 3 works with 8x8 to identify and target prospective channel partners for 8x8's channel program. 8x8, in turn, is able to work directly with those partners to provide robust and reliable VoIP solutions to retail or end user customers. As a part of their program, 8x8 will also partner with selected resellers to identify end users, aid in training, recruit agents and participate in industry events.

"8x8 has grown to become a well respected provider of voice over IP services and Level 3 values the relationship that has evolved between our companies. We support the success of the 8x8 partner program," said Craig Schlagbaum, Level 3 vice president of channel development. "Level 3 is focused on being the premier wholesale VoIP enabler. By concentrating on a smaller number of highly capable partners, Level 3 can focus on developing more robust sales programs to help drive the adoption and growth of services provided by Level 3 enabled VoIP customers like 8x8."

"8x8's relationship with Level 3 and its use of (3)VoIP Enhanced Local and E-911 services have been very positive and productive from the start. We are very pleased to be moving forward together to increase VoIP adoption through our resellers," said Huw Rees, 8x8 vice president of sales and marketing. "This mutually advantageous program will provide us with an opportunity to expand our distribution channel, particularly in the small business market segment addressed by our Packet8 Virtual Office(SM) offering."

Packet8 Virtual Office is a no-maintenance VoIP hosted PBX telephone service designed to offer small to mid-sized organizations a feature-rich audio platform for the implementation of effective business communications. The Packet8 Virtual Office provides users with an array of business-class features (i.e. auto-attendant, conference bridge, voicemail and extension to extension calling) along with unlimited local and long distance calling to the U.S. and Canada. Companies that subscribe to the Packet8 Virtual Office hosted PBX service operate as if they are using a premise-based switch yet derive flexibility, functionality and cost savings due to the Internet-based nature of the service.

And now for the TA:

Price action has formed a text book ascending triangle. They can't get much better than this one ;) A breakout of the triangle at $2.50 gives us a technical target of $3.86 which is a 54% profit. Though backed by the growth of this company and its recent developments, my plan for entering is a bit different and can turn out a higher profit, yet it is more risky. On friday price action closed below the the 20 day EMA and is closing in on the ascending trendline again hopefully just to be retested. So my plan is to is to fill a position on the next close above the 20 day EMA.

Feedback is always appreciated.

And as always, best of luck ;D

EGHT was the first stock i suggested 6 months ago.
dave selected it for a 3stocks pick twice.
i made good money on EGHT and then was I down on its prospects for a while.

today i got an email from 8x8, inc. that they licensed a software phone like SKYPE.
i can't wait to try it.
packet8 is a good service.

good luck with your trade.

i have a problem buying back stocks at a higher price after i sell them.  maybe i should.

i set a market order for the opening bell and got in @ $2.02. EGHT closed at 2.10 today. I think this is the beginning of its next rally. If we have a close above $2.50. $$$$ to come our way!  :D. Best of luck if anyone is following this pick as well.

Trading Plan: Hold as long as it closes above the ascending trend line which is currently at $1.92.

Our first barrior to break is at $2.30. If it price action closes above $2.30 on this next rally i believe it will break our "Key resistence area"(the horizontal line of the ascending triangle) at $2.50 soon after. From there our target is $3.86. :)

Thanks for the question rocket i should have stated resistence areas in the first place.(applauds)

Nice work on EGHT, fousc.  Applaud.

Last Wednesday, the trendline off the July 7 low was validated.   The hit ($1.85) was nearly exact, within $0.005.  The smaller Ascending Triangle targets $3.53 on a breakout above $2.50, which is 74.7% higher from Friday's close of $2.03 if it makes.

The top of the Ascending Triangle, as fousc mentioned, is 2.50.  We can see from this chart why 2.49-2.50 has been recent resistance.  That was the neckline of a six month H&S top.

EGHT currently is into its sixth month of base building off its late April, 2005 low, which is constructively bullish since it has to go up against six months worth of resistance in that H&S top.  "The bigger the base, the better the breakout."

At 9:45, on the 5 minute chart, EGHT ran up from 2.05 to 2.27 on almost 400,000 shares for that 5 minute bar, so it looks like there's some buying interest.

My initial target of 3.86 is no longer valid because my triangle was drawn premature to the price action. The new smaller triangle that melf pointed out is are key target of 3.53 now.

Today we some solid volume showed up again though were still below the first resistence level of 2.30. Though the gap up on volume today should grab a little bit of attention from other traders. Backed by the financial growth of this company i don't think our target of 3.53 is too far from becoming reality.

Yup we are moving but it is the ascending triangle breakout we are focsuing on - a much longer term, and so more reliable pattern, and the break of the short term downward trend is just a part of it.

fousc, you're right, I think it is the lower resistance line that we nearly touched today that represents the breakout, and where we should calculate our technical target from, but we gotta get through the upper resistance line too  ;)  Also, I'm sure you noticed the volume today, really solid. I think things may be picking up to break out in the next couple of days, the end of the triangle is narrrowing...

Hey scottish,
I actually have the profit target projected from the resistence line at $2.50 for the target of 3.53. I think that is our main goal to break for this to be a valid triangle pattern. I did't notice this in my first analysis but 2.50 is the neckline low of the the the H & S pattern that formed in late 04' - 05' that was pointed out by Melf Elf(applauds) . price action tested 2.50 again twice in the formation of this new triangle. So a close above the resistence at 2.30 will certainly help us get past 2.50. But i think 2.50 is the key resistence area for us to break here. We may close above the 2.30 only to retest resistence at 2.50 and then retrace back to the ascending trendline. We'll just have to see what the mob has to say about that.

If we continue to have volume like we did today, we won't have a problem breaking 2.50 by friday

-regards,

Thanks fousc [applause],

agreed on the upper resistance at 2.50, that's our target, but looking at the linear chart, the ascending trendline holds all the way back to 1.03.  It looks like our technical target could actually be $3.97!!  now that'd be nice :D

We also seem to be hitting on minor resistance at 2.15 for now, so we actually have 3 resistance levels to get through before this breaks.  Lets hope the volume keeps up!!

Good trading  :)

Scotsman,

When I drew the up trendline off the April low, I used the July low, and it didn't work.

You skipped the July low and used the August low.  The September low at 1.85 violates your trendline intraday by about three pennies, but EGHT closed above it, and then rallied.  That's close enough in my book for a trendline validation.

Good eye!  Applause.

If we use the linear chart (use what woiks!) the top of the Falling Wedge is providing some resistance.  We've poked through it twice intraday, then sold off.  It's up in the high 2.20s, and the 200DMA is at 2.20, so that's got us stalled a bit.  The 50DMA and 200DMA also are inverted, so they're having time to right themselves.

A close above fousc's 2.30 (applause) would get us above the Falling Wedge on the linear chart.  The top of the wedge is over 3.00 on the log chart.

Title: Re: EGHT gettin ready to move!
Post by: ScottishTrader on October 04, 2005, 02:35:06 PM
right, now I see the big picture :D

Didn't even notice the long term falling wedge before, and it looks like that is the resistance that is holding us back right now, and that EGHT needs to break through.  This could actually be more important than I thought, and a break of the descending resistance line and the 200 DMA should easily send us into potential breakout position of the ascending triangle.

Provided everything goes according to plan (like that will happen ;)) I think things are looking very good for EGHT

True,

But the upside resistance could be stronger than expected and the 200 MA and descending trendline definitely cam into play today.  Of course we are still all good, but it did raise a concern in my mind that instead of an ascending triangle breakout, we could have a symmetrical(ish) triangle on our hands that wit selling pressure could break to the downside.  However the ascending support line has been very well tested, and I find that unlikely.  Still, any sudden tank and a drop below that line should be considered an immediate sell  :(

Perhaps its because a few of my other trades did not go according to plan today, I am being pessimistic.  Tomorrow will hopefully bring an upside correction  :)

Enjoying this one with you fousc and Melf Elf, nothing like watching a technical trade work out, just gotta bide your time...

Hey guys,

well today was not ideal, but I suppose was to be expected.  In line with the movement within the ascending triangle breakout, the high on Monday near 2.27, caused a pullback, which may retest support, standing around 1.90 tomorrow.  However, on the plus side, we did get a bullish inverted hammer pattern today, which while it is low reliability, could signal a reversal without touching support.  Only tomorrow can tell. ;)

I'll leave you with the chart, and by the way, Melf Elf, have a look at VWPT - is a perfect symmetrical triangle, and it is about to break.  Unfortunately, at least as far as I can tell, all indicators are totally neutral as to which way it will go.  But Definitely worth a look for tomorrow's open, as it has to go one way or the other VERY soon!

I'll update the thread there, but let me know what you think, Cheers  :)

Yeah, the market's been in a bad mood the past couple of days, too.   >:D

EGHT held up pretty well for most of the day, then came off with just about everything else.  No excuses, though!  The up trendline has to hold on a closing basis, or I'm gone.  Using the trendline off the July low to give it the benefit of the doubt, since the slope is less steep than the trendline off the April low, it comes in today, October 6, at 1.897.

QuoteI'll leave you with the chart, and by the way, Melf Elf, have a look at VWPT -

I'll try to jump in on the threads, as time permits.  A problem that I've got is that I take too danged long trying to analyze and understand charts.

VWPT traded only 73,000 shares traded yesterday, and is priced at only 1.38.  I probably couldn't get an order filled on that one if I got on my knees and begged, so I'll pass on that one.

I begged a couple of times this week on WSCI, but they won't fill me.  >:(
It traded only 54,000 shares yesterday.

Tuesday, for example, when WSCI printed 3.97,  BID 3.94...ASK 4.00,  I placed my order at 4.00.  LIMIT ORDER...ALL OR NONE.

Next quote....BID 4.09...ASK 4.19!!!

A bunch of jokesters.   ;D

This trade has been about as exciting as sitting around watching our fingernails grow.   ::)

I guess the good news is tha, during this general market selloff, EGHT hasn't broken support, but we're right there now, and EGHT needs to rally.

The Kumo (Cloud) on the Ichimoku Kinko Hyo chart has risen and has narrowed dramatically.  Often, like a narrowing of Bollinger Bands, that can signify that a sharp move is in the offing, like in early September, when the Kumo narrowed.

Additionally, trendline support for today is 1.917.  EGHT closed at 1.94, right in the narrow Kumo, and just above trendline support.

Looks like push is coming to shove.  Hopefully, a push/shove to the upside.  If we're trading near 1.917 (the up trendline) at the close and looks too close to call, I'll hold it and wait to see the actual closing price.

Hey guys, well we got a nasty sell-off today that broke our ascending trendline which is not nice  >:(

A close of 1.86 does not look pretty, though there may be some support here.  In fact, looking at the chart, that downside break could signal a strong sell-off if we are not careful.

In general I'm not a happy camper.  I currently have posted 11 consecutive losing closes and I don't want to add more, but I will tomorrow if we don't see a bounce from here.

Hope everyone else has been doing better than me  :P

I think everyone has been having difficulty, Scotsman.  I know that I have, like with EGHT.  Even when I make good plays, like getting out of EPL and NASI at a profit, and then re-entering them at better prices, I'm still having a struggle.

Applause for that refreshing kind of honesty!  Usually on message boards, NO ONE ever has a loss, which is one of the many things that I like about this forum, and the people who post here.  We aren't trying to impress each other, but rather, we try to help each other to learn and to do  better.

Looks like another buying opportunity could be upon us. Price action broke down out of our initial ascending triangle only to for a new larger triangle formation. Earnings were released yesterday showing a 229% revenue increase over the year. Surprisingly we didnt see much movement from the news. The financials for this company are great, some day this stock is going to act on that fact.

"We launched our service in the UK under the freetalk brand with Dixons Group, one of the largest electronics retailers in Europe with over 1,400 stores in 12 countries. Also, the Uniden/Packet8 Whole House VoIP System debuted in our retail channel, and we developed and deployed new technologies and services that will expand the capabilities of our already proven E9-1-1 service in response to recent Federal Communications Commission actions. We continue to see the advantageous effects of developing and promoting our own standards-based VoIP technologies and platforms.

"Our revenues and subscriber base continue to grow as distribution channels for Packet8 services broaden and the adoption of VoIP matures in both the residential and business markets," added Mr. Martin. "During this past quarter, with the addition of new Uniden and Dixons Group channels, we expanded the number of retail locations where Packet8-powered services are available to more than 2,250 stores worldwide, an increase of more than 800%.

"Our quarterly loss reflects ongoing expenditures in support of our global expansion and the development of sustainable growth opportunities in new markets," continued Mr. Martin. "Operational execution, especially in light of our rate of growth, outstanding reliability and quality of service, feature differentiation and technological innovation remain organizational priorities for the Company."

but right at the end of the day the bottom fell out - closed at 1.53.  After our last losing run on eght I'm staying well clear.  On deeper digging, it seemed like the company was seriously mismanaged.  Something's gotta be up if they broke another trendline despite good earnings.

Agree.  It looks the market's reaction to earnings was as cranky as my reaction to earnings yesterday morning.

Why do you all expect EGHT to go up knowing full well that profitability is nowhere in sight? There are a lot of companies that grow revenues substantially and never go up because they have red ink all over their financial records?

Am I missing something obvious? Thank you in advance

To me it is all relative, and a loss-making company can still produce positive earnings/results, and make positive movement on its shareprice.  However, I think that EGHT may be in some trouble now.  To be honest, I think they don't seem to have turned things around yet, and we will see lower prices on this one in the near future.

I think myself and Melf Elf had been positive on this one from a technical perspective a little while back, as it seemed to be developing a nice technical pattern.  However, it broke down out of that, and it looks like it will continue to do so.

So no, I don't think EGHT will go up in the near term.

EGHT closed up 3% today.
Have you guys found any reason to think it is overcoming it's "mismanaged" image and should start to go up? I'm thinking I should take a 20% hit and put the $$$ into MEMY (biggest insider trade ammounts I've seen).
Everything I see looks like it should keep going down.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I think rocket is trying to say that it should be $3 a share... .40 a share in cash is pretty insane for a $1.75 stock.  At $3 a share, EGHT would have .25 a share in cash... still pretty impressive.  The fundamentals are good in that regard but still losing money and I don't really like the chart that much... so I dunno if I agree with rocket.  Very little volume on break from trough and even though MACD is positive,  EGHT is still bound to a pretty tight range and is right under both 50 dma and 200 dma.  No price action that would suggest a possibility for breakout over the dmas.  Here's the chart:

ok now that was nerve wrackin!!!

shoulda taken my profits at around 1.95 when I saw it top, but it was just so volatile, I couldn't do it - was simply mesmerised, and then very quickly nervous as it started skating around my (ridiculously high) buy of 1.75 - did I mention I was about to put a buy in at 1.47 when it exploded???

So I held on for the weekend - it bounced prefectly off the 38.6% and 50% fib retracement levels, as you can see on the 1 min chart (I don't normally use these, but it shows how beautifully it bounced).  And I figure that the day traders will have taken their profits as they don't want to hold for the weekend.  My feeling is that Monday will also be strong, pushing 2.00 again if not higher, so we shall see.  As I write this it is sitting at 2.02 AH, so that bodes well.  It could really explode on Monday.  (Did I say that the Volume today was the highest in well over a year?)I see key resistance at 2.00 - potential target could be recent highs of 2.50

Here are a few crazy charts

One more thing - there should be a MAJOR short squeeze come Monday, as EGHT has over 5 million shares short, as of the end of November.  This represents about 10% of the company's stock, and while some of these may have been covered today and after hours (there was almost 10 million shares traded today)  There are surely going to be shorts in a serious world of pain come Monday.  Will be interesting to see how it all goes off :o

Here's the short data

Yep saw that too - and saw that it hasn't moved yet but the chart is looking very positive - perhaps a good (and less volatile) place to put some money from EGHT in.  I am still confident that whatever happens monday and poss tuesday, EGHT should have a solid run of it this month as more details about the terms of this agreement become available.

It probably won't affect the bottom line until mid-06 however, but some are speculating that it could mean 500k additional subscribers - more than 5 times as many as they currently have, and the telcos are definitely waking up to the fact that VOIP is a technology they need to embrace and market to their customers before someone else does and they lose them.  The next thing will be VOIP on cell phones too, as WiMax and cell phones that also have 802.11 wireless capability become more popular, and people can opt to make regular cell phone calls or use VOIP to make free calls when they are in a hotspot.

The entire telecoms space is about to make a paradigm shift and the telcos like BLS need VOIP partners like EGHT if they are going to keep customers and continue to generate significant revenues.

Finally, a deal like this clearly demonstrates that EGHT is more than a loss making network communications company - they beat out significant rivals like Vonage for this deal, and it validates their technology as one that can scale to the needs of major partners such as the big telcos.
The fact that they beat Vonage to E911 compliance also looks to be a major feather in their cap, as any telco providing a VOIP service MUST provide an E911 service with it.  Vonage could be playing serious catch-up in the partnering space in the near term.

To futher investagate EGHT/BLS. Take a look at the chart of BELLSOUTH (BLS)
The stock is Breaking out of a long term Symmetrical Triangle (continuation) Pattern,
But Don't stop there pull up a 5 and 10 year chart.
BLS looks good for a play also. IMHO.
And look at a 6 month chart, looks to be forming a Head and Shoulders Bottom (reversal) Pattern.,needs the right shoulder to form.
I will post BLS 3 year chart here, but do look at the others.

Some more details from tmc.net "The authority on VOIP, call centres CRM and telecom"

BellSouth, 8x8 launch VoIP service
(ZDNet News)BellSouth is following other large local carriers that have begun offering home services powered by voice over Internet protocol.

As part of a partnership with 8x8, a provider of voice and video broadband phone services, BellSouth announced on Friday that it will, over the next several weeks, offer customers the means to make phone calls via their computers. For $20 a month, BellSouth subscribers can order the new service, which features voice mail, caller ID, unlimited free phone calls to anywhere in the U.S. or Canada, and cheaper overseas calls, said Bryan Martin, chairman and CEO of 8x8.

"This validates our technology," Martin said. "We're a small, 200-person company, and to have BellSouth endorse us says a lot."

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Atlanta-based BellSouth chose 8x8 after testing other VoIP providers, Martin said. BellSouth continues to work on creating its own VoIP technology, according to news reports.

In the United States, VoIP has yet to catch on with a broad audience even while its adoption expands quickly in many other countries. Analysts, however, expect rapid growth in the U.S., and some experts have predicted that traditional phone companies could lose a third of their business by 2008. SBC, Verizon Communications and Qwest have either launched or said they intend to launch a residential home phone service using VoIP.

The news sent shares of 8x8, headquartered in Santa Clara, Calif., climbing sharply. After rising 52 cents to close at $1.74 in regular trading, they surged another $1.31 in after-hours trading to end the day at $3.05. However, they are still about half their value from two years ago, when the company was considered one of the major VoIP services players.

BellSouth has already rolled out the 8x8 service in Florida, and in coming weeks the company will begin to release it to the other areas it serves. To set up 8x8's service, a BellSouth subscriber must order the equipment needed that enables the service to work on whatever high-speed connection the user has. Under the agreement, BellSouth will handle marketing while 8x8 will oversee customer service, fulfillment and billing.

Well this morning was probably what most expected - Big gap up, very quick peak and then profit taking dragging the price down and down.  But technically it seems to be acting very well once again.
The low was just below the 50% fib retracement from yesterday's close, which also corresponded exactly to the 38.2% retracement from the beginning of the move on Friday, as can be seen in the chart below.  I consider this to be a bullish sign that profit taking for the morning is done.  It is currently ranging around 2.70, but we will see what the afternoon brings....

woo hoo, I'm last in the stock picking competition ;D ;D ;D

You always have to root for the underdog, but this was probably to be expected, was very unlikely that it would breakaway today.  A little disappointed with the close as it broke through the 50% fib retracement and previous low of the day.  Hmmm...  It is likely that EGHT will see more of a push down tomorrow as the gradual grind and shorts step it down.  But I do expect it to level and turnaround this week, at levels significantly higher than it was at previously.  I still think that this could be a very strong play over the next month as more details about the deal come out and EGHT gets mor coverage.  Still,  a bit ugly to see that much of a gain ground down :P Still, is double where it opened Friday am.
Title: Re: EGHT gettin ready to move!
Post by: ScottishTrader on December 13, 2005, 06:54:12 PM
Well as expected, today was a repeat of yesterday, a gradual step down to close around 2.12.  In fact it is interesting that if you look at the intraday chart, today's pattern was almost exactly identical to yesterdays - including the small mid-day upwward trend - perhaps this pattern is fairly common???

Anyway, I think that we will see further downward movement tomorrow, but things should start levelling off.  I'm looking for 2 things for re-entry-
1) a retracement to the 61.8% fib level for the whole move, which I see at about 2.04, and movement off of this level, which also corresponds to a support zone
2) if this level is broken, a sharp fill of the gap down to 1.98, hopefully followed by a solid bounce as buyers waiting for the gap fill come back in.

It could break below Friday's high this week, but there is strong support at 1.85, and I think that this level would be a very attractive entry point.

I'm still quite confident that EGHT has further upward momentum here.

8x8 Shares Climb After Analyst Says Stock "Just Too Cheap"

NEW YORK (AP) -- Voice over Internet Protocol service provider 8x8 Inc. shares jumped in Wednesday afternoon trading after a Merriman Curhan Ford analyst said "sometimes a stock is just too cheap" and upgraded it.
Analyst Colby Synesael raised the stock to "Buy" from "Neutral" and said that although he is concerned "about the company's long-term growth opportunity," the stock should trade inline with its fair value.

"Although we think the stock is greatly undervalued -- which we previously attributed to bankruptcy risk -- it is still not clear to us that 8x8 will be successful with its virtual office strategy and therefore its ability to meaningfully grow revenue long term," Synesael wrote in a note to clients.

Shares of 8x8, which have traded between 65 cents and $3.39 over the past 52 weeks, were up 15.2 percent, or 15 cents, at $1.14 per share on the Nasdaq.

1. Introduction

I was looking to study less than $5 stocks and EGHT pop on my technical and fundamental screens. I've traded this in the past, who would say it would go as low as $0.65  ::). Anyway, the chart looks bullish and, to my surprise, fundamentals never stopped improving. Then why the share price collapse? I guess when a stock is bought like EGHT was on those two days in December 05 (47 million shares changed hands in those two days) and it fails to advance, people will then bail out whatever the fundamental picture is, they just can't stand the price decline anymore !

3. Technical Analysis
3.1. All History Chart

Nothing surprising on this EGHT all history chart. Since it was a technology related stock, it had its bubble in 2000 and then collapsed.

3.2. Medium Term Chart

The stock had huge bull runs in the past, but it couldn't sustain those high prices. The recent advance phase seems more moderate, is it supported by fundamentals? We'll get to that in a moment.

3.3. Short Term Chart

EGHT's short term chart is showing a strong ascending trend. Volume picks up in every white marubozu along the way. No meaningful gaps were left open.

4. Fundamental Analysis
4.1. Number of Shares Outstanding

Since these are quarterly numbers, I can't call the increase in the number of outstanding shares "moderate". Unfortunately the company is issuing shares, and the market cap is growing faster than the share price advance implies.

Anyway, the current market cap is just 61.4 million * $1.75 = $107 M.

4.2. Liquidity

The balance sheet is getting a bit weak here, but still $9 M in working capital.

4.3. Revenues

This is the part I like most, ten consecutive quarters of revenue growth. Revenue expectation for the full fiscal 2007 (it ends on March 07) is $55 M.

4.4. Net Income

Well, the company lost money every quarter since 2004, but this latest quarter it cut its losses  in half. Is EGHT turning the corner to profitability?

5. General Overview

Read this excerpts from published news:

- "8x8 Reports 5,000 U.S. Businesses Now Use the Packet8 Virtual Office Phone Service. According to 8x8 Vice President of Sales and Marketing Huw Rees, the adoption rate of the Packet8 Virtual Office service by U.S. based businesses has increased dramatically over the past twelve months, with nearly 1,000 new businesses added in the last quarter alone."

- "Packet8 Virtual Office Business Phone System to Be Sold Through Office Depot Stores Nationwide. Beginning this month (November), Office Depot's stores and website will carry the Packet8 Virtual Office business phone service package for $79.99 (after $50 mail-in rebate)."

- ""Our focus on the business space with Virtual Office affords 8x8 a sustainable and attractive business model. This is evidenced by our gross margins, which grew strongly to 52% for the quarter, and the decreasing customer churn we are seeing due to this segment of our service," continued Mr. Martin."

I think it is becoming apparent, especially from the quarterly revenue numbers, that EGHT now has a successful business model (check their website (http://www.packet8.net/)). This wasn't the case for many years, since the company became public in 1997.

I think this company's business model is one of those "the more, the more", that is, the more costumers they have, the easier it will be to get more (because if you're using a VOIP service, you want everybody else to use it to, to save more on your calls).

Revenues rose an average of 129% for the past 2 years. If this growth continues, EGHT will have revenues of $660 M in 3 years, and its market cap can be 12 times larger than it is now.

I'm a believer in VOIP and I think EGHT can be an attractive long term investment. My biggest worry is dilution. Dilution can make the market cap grow, indeed, by 12 times over the next 3 years, and yet the share price only doubles, for example. So, if I decide to invest on EGHT, I'll watch the number of shares issued and outstanding like a hawk.

Holding at the 50-day MA...
This "baby" will definitely be one of 2007 small cap winners.
If you are still in doubt who is the best in VOIP sector, check the following link:
http://broadgen.com/voip_quick_view.htm

I hope you realize that the stock broke above 50 day EMA line on a huge volume. Translation... hurry up before EGHT breaks 1.90 and never looks back.
Now you still have time with EGHT shares while price is still "playing" with 50-day MA

Seriously, EGHT may jump before Nasdaq correction is over on good revenue projections, it will soon become cashflow positive,  it will be to late then to play catch-up.
Manage your risk though. If price closes below 50 Day MA, 2 or more consecutive days on large volume, reduce your long positions in EGHT.

You better believe it Setravis, and by the way, thanks for the heads up - I picked up some at 1.58 the other day and I'm certainly smiling now  ;D

EGHT closed above the recent spike high of 1.72, which is a positive sign tfor this move.  it did top out at 1.84 resistance, but recent highs of 1.95 ar not so far away...

I was looking at this and it made me think.  If EGHT makes a measured move here, the last rally was for a total gain of 1.28 (i.e. from a low of .67 to a high of 1.95)  After pulling back in november and december it found support at the 1.20 level, making a low of 1.12.  A measured move from here would put a 2.40 target IN PLAY

I anticipate a bit of a struggle between 1.84 and 1.95.  But I'm with you, and am looking for this one to break recent highs soon.

Cheers!!!!  ;D ;D

Last call for EGHT train -- next stop 1.90
Do not despair. There is still time. The EGHT train is increasing it's speed.
If the "steamer" of NASDAQ correction does not fall off the cliff draggin' all techs down, we will see the EGHT train taking off and making the next stop "mild resistance" at $1.90, before heading to $2.50 to $2.60 or above.
Again, if NASDAQ blues don't spoil the picture, passengers of EGHT train are heading to some "Green pastures...of milk and honey". So, if you are reading this post you should consider getting some EGHT shares.

I expect a huge rally startting either this PM or tomorrow as earnings approach. Friday  will be crazy. It could close above $1.65 on Friday.

There is a reason why EGHT is reporting 1 month earlier and has so many presentations next week.......and the reason(s) must ge good for tghe company and the stock.

8x8, Inc. Announces Record Second Quarter Fiscal 2011...

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct 20, 2010 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX) -- 8x8, Inc. (EGHT), provider of innovative business communications solutions, today announced financial operating results for the second quarter of fiscal 2011 ended September 30, 2010.

Total revenue for the second quarter of fiscal 2011 was $17.4 million, an increase of 8% compared to revenue of $16 million for the same period of fiscal 2010. Total revenue for the six-month period ended September 30, 2010 was $34.2 million, an increase of 8% compared to revenue of $31.6 million for the same period of fiscal 2010.

Net income for the second quarter of fiscal 2011 was $2 million, or $0.03 per share, an increase of 47% compared to net income of $1.3 million, or $0.02 per share, for the same period last year. Net income for the six-month period ended September 30, 2010 was $3 million, an increase of 71% compared to net income of $1.8 million for the same period of fiscal 2010.

"The second quarter of fiscal 2011 was 8x8's strongest quarter ever and a pivotal period for the company and its shareholders as our business voice and managed hosting services delivered the highest revenue and net income levels in the Company's history as a publicly traded entity," said 8x8 Chairman and CEO Bryan Martin. "The record-setting results we reported this quarter, including the reduction in churn to the lowest level in 8x8's history, are a testament to the value our services are delivering to small and medium-sized businesses and a manifestation of the operational efficiency of our business model. In addition to these accomplishments, our results this quarter are a clear indication that a significant portion of each new dollar of recurring revenue is now falling directly to the bottom line due to our migration to higher margin revenue and the ongoing optimization of our cost structure."

During the second quarter of fiscal 2011 ended September 30, 2010, 8x8 repurchased 1,565,713 shares of its common stock under its share repurchase program at an average share price of $1.70 and a total cost of $2,668,182. With the completion of the initial share repurchase program, 8x8's Board of Directors approved a new share repurchase plan on October 19, 2010, authorizing the Company to repurchase up to $10 million of its outstanding common stock from time to time until October 19, 2011. Share repurchases, if any, will be funded with available cash. Repurchases of the Company's common stock may be made through open market purchases at prevailing market prices or in privately negotiated transactions. The timing, volume and nature of share repurchases are subject to market prices and conditions, applicable securities laws and other factors, and are at the discretion of the Company's management. 8x8, Inc. Set to Join Russell 3000 Index...

Press Release Source: 8x8, Inc. On Tuesday June 14, 2011, 8:15 am EDT

SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 14, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- 8x8, Inc. (Nasdaq:EGHT - News), provider of innovative business communications and cloud computing solutions, is set to join the U.S. broad-market Russell 3000(R) Index when Russell Investments reconstitutes its comprehensive set of U.S. and global equity indexes on June 24, according to a preliminary list of additions posted June 10 on www.russell.com/indexes.

Annual reconstitution of Russell's U.S. indexes captures and ranks the 4,000 largest U.S. stocks as of the end of May by total market capitalization. Membership in the Russell 3000, which remains in place for one year, means automatic inclusion in the large-cap Russell 1000(R) Index or small-cap Russell 2000(R) Index as well as the appropriate growth and value style indexes. Russell determines membership for its equity indexes primarily by objective, market-capitalization rankings and style attributes. The Russell 3000 also serves as the U.S. component to the Russell Global Index.

"The inclusion of 8x8 in the Russell 3000 Index will expose our company's stock and our innovative technology to a wider audience of investors, ultimately benefiting our shareholders," commented 8x8 Chairman & CEO Bryan Martin.

Russell indexes are widely used by investment managers and institutional investors for index funds and as benchmarks for both passive and active investment strategies. An industry-leading $3.9 trillion in institutional assets currently are benchmarked to them. These investment tools originated from Russell's multi-manager investment business in the early 1980s when the company saw the need for a more objective, market-driven set of benchmarks in order to evaluate outside investment managers.

More information about Russell Indexes, including total returns, is available at http://www.russell.com/Indexes/data/default.asp.
