Title: HQS
Post by: David Randolph on August 24, 2005, 09:03:51 AM
I really don't have any time before the opening bell to explain why, but I'm buying $1,000 of HQSM.OB for the 3 Pennies on Fire portfolio around today's open.

In a extremely fast glance I can say just this: the company's market cap is $28.78M and they've earned $1M in the last quarter. If this continues I see the company with a PE Ratio of 7 and rapid growth.

The chart is a succession of white marubozus with higher and higher volume.

I will go deeper inside this stock on my first update after today's market close.

Just 4 minutes for the opening bell and I have a decision to make, buy or hold HQSM.OB?

I see price up, volume up, so no reason to sell. I'll continue to hold this powerful penny stock, I hope after the bell there's no technical problem with the website and I can update all stocks held on the 3 Stocks on Fire Portfolio and the 3 Pennies on Fire Portfolio with some more time.

Thank you for reading, God bless you.

I was a little startled to see the pullback, but I figured it was profit taking, and entered at .35. The fundamentals certainly don't belong at this level! Besides, tilapia is very tasty -- I like to poach it in a littlle orange juice with onions & cracked peppercorns, takes a couple minutes, great with rice, yum!

Hope you'll take the time to share your TA take on this one soon, I can't tell a cup from a saucer, or a trendline from a clothesline.  :-\

Thanks for the info about the product robt !

You're right, and the title of this thread is right, HQSM's fundamentals are awesome:

«HQ  Sustainable  Maritime  Industries,  Inc.  (HQ) (OTC BB:  HQSM),  a  Delaware

corporation  engaged in integrated  aquaculture and aquatic product  processing,
announced  today its financial  results for the second quarter ended June 30th ,
2005,  as reported in its Form 10-QSB  filed with the  Securities  and  Exchange
Commission on August 12th, 2005.

With net profits of USD  1,080,290,  revenues  for the three month  period ended
June 30, 2005  increased  by  $6,054,836,  to  $6,515,755  from  $460,919 in the
corresponding  period of 2004. In the first half of 2004,  HQ's fish  processing
activities were shut down for  reconstruction  that resulted in the expansion of
plant capacity from 2 to 6 production  lines.  The  acquisition of Jiahua Marine
was  completed in August 2004 and has added  $2,450,940 to sales for the current
quarter and $1,199,512 to its profit.

The full text of Form  10-QSB for the three  months  ended June 30,  2005 can be
reviewed at www.sec.gov. An extract is provided below.

Said Norbert  Sporns,  CEO of HQ, "The second  quarter  shows the strong  growth
potential in the company's products.  This growth will continue in the months to
come,  as the  Company  executes  the  Chairman's  roadmap.  Demand for the HQ's
highest  quality  products has continued very strong.  As marketing  initiatives
proceed in the United States and Europe we expect to see profitability and sales
increase further."»

Even without growth the trailing 2005 P/E of this company would be 8. But sales and profits are growing rapidly. With a market cap of just $36.09M I think we got a sure thing here.

There's not enough price history to do some reliable technical analysis, the long term chart was an erratic thing without any volume. Yesterday the stock fell a bit on profit taking, but nothing to worry about, this is a fundamentally backed advance.

I'm not selling this stock with less than 100% profit.

Hi David;
lt took awhile to free up a position to buy up some of this tasty HQSM but l am in at .35, and hoping for a bit of a retracement on Mon. and l will buy a bit more.
This companys fundimentals sure look good, as long as we can trust the Chinese reporting system, though with offices in the U.S. they should have to play fair.

On another matter, l still am long END, l will hold until the ::)  news on their drilling results come in, this could be a big boom or bust stock. The market seeems to be my friend so far. Another oil that l am totally in love with is OIL on the Canadian, l am up near double in 6-8 months and the party is yet to begin.

Nice trades Virg, congrats  :)

HQSM.OB is based in the US, Delaware State (so is Stocks on Fire LLC), so I think the earnings report is reliable.

This is a great time for investors and speculators. Never in the world history there has been this possibility to turn a small company into a big one in a few months. Now, if you have a good product, in a few months you can be selling it worldwide and make a ton of money.

When I was looking through the company's website (http://www.hqfish.com) I was thinking that I could import their products and sell them here in Portugal ... Portuguese people love shrimp  :D

But I don't know anything about fish or sea food, in fact, I don't know much of anything, beside speculation  >:D   ... so I'm glad I hold the stock and this way I'm able to benefit from the company's growth.

The stock was dead until the last earnings report. That was a big surprise for the market, sales rose 14 fold, from $460,919 to $6,515,755 and earnings attributable to shareholders rebounded from a loss of $ (1,292,936) to a profit of $1,080,290 (from the second quarter of 2004).

Sales were up 116% quarter on quarter and earnings came from a loss of $437,968 in the first quarter to a profit of $1,080,290 in the second. If this kind of growth keeps up during the entire 2005, this company will deliver 2005 profits of $7,357,682.

With 99,320,179 shares outstanding the market cap is $34,265,462, so the trailing P/E would be $34,265,462/$7,357,682 = 4.65

This can't be true, at least a trailing P/E of 12 should be warranted. So I'm not thinking about selling HQSM.OB with less than 200% profit.

Another possible accelerator for US growth: the Louisiana wetlands have been providing 28% of U.S. fisheries' annual catch, a figure likely to change radically after hurricane Katrina.

Thanks for this input robt  :)

HQSM.OB is retracing a bit over the last 3 sessions, on low volume. Given the company's fundamentals I don't expect the stock to retrace much more than the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement level or for much longer.

I'm confortably holding HQSM.OB.

David,

The acquisition of Jiahua Marine was completed in August 2004 and has added $2,450,940 to sales for the current quarter and $1,199,512 to its profit.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The concern is that the deal gave the profit.  Without it, the valuation is much lower.
How does this affect the fundamentals ?
Thoughts ?   ???

THis was the news at 3pm that gave HQSM the little spurt near end of session.

HQSM Reveals Feedmill Construction Plans
Fishmeal-Free Enriched Feed to Produce Superior Products
HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries, Inc. (HQ) (OTC BB: HQSM), a Delaware corporation engaged in integrated aquaculture and aquatic product processing, announced today that it has approved a feasibility study for the construction of a new feedmill in Wenchang near its other production facilities.

The new plant represents an investment of USD 3.8 million producing 72,000 tons of feed annually with a total projected sales value of USD 20 million. The feed formulations will be prepared with the benefit of the latest American technologies to assure a minimum of toxicity (for example the elimination of fishmeal) and an optimum of health benefits for consumers. New floating feed formulations will reduce waste in the aquaculture reservoirs thus reducing the requirement for chemicals to stabilise reservoir health. The plant feasibility report approved by HQSM's Board, shows strong profitability especially when considered as an important component of the Group's vertically integrated strategy.

Said CEO Norbert Sporns, "The feedmill construction allows HQSM to retain important technologies it has accessed, using the feed additive fabrication capabilities of its Nutraceutical plant in formulating exceptional, toxin free feeds. This will fit well with new marketing initiatives in the United States. The Group's sales and profitability will expand considerably."

It would be nice if HQSM.OB held the $0.28 level, because that's the 50% Fibonacci retracement. Anyway I will continue holding this penny on the 3 Pennies on Fire Portfolio, I believe in the fundamentals of the company and see a new bullish move coming.

Thank you,

It is a mathematic thing. Metastock puts this on the chart automatically. But it's simple, 50% retracement is the half way between the beginning of the rally and its end. 23.6% retracement means the stock has given up 23.6% of its up move but still holds 76.4% of it.

Generally, a retracement that is of less magnitude than 50% is considered to be bullish (probably the advance was based on solid fundamental developments). If the stock retraces more than 61.8% probably you should forget about it, the advance is over and the trend is now clearly bearish.

For HQSM.OB you can see it is holding just above the 50% retracement level pretty well. I will continue to hold it.

I like the white candle and the volume on HQSM.OB. I was ahead on my trade, behind, and ahead again. This is exactly the kind of stock that I want to hold on the 3 Pennies on Fire Portfolio, technicals are all right but I need a strong fundamental background too.

HQSM.OB provides that, so I'll continue holding this penny stock, updating this analysis everyday with new technical or fundamental information.

Thanks for this input on one of the products HQSM.OB sells. If the product is good, the company will expand to sell worldwide. Also, the fact that HQSM is opening businesses and offices in the US will add to its credibility.

This is also a long term holding of the 3 Pennies on Fire Portfolio, I can't sell when I «know» good numbers are coming and the stock will rise. RULE 79 says «Both Long and Short Term Trades Start Off as Short Term Trades, but Winning Trades Are Long Term».

Thanks for your question JKN  :) Yes, I may consider intraday points to be important support/resistance levels, but I don't trust intraday crossovers or intraday technical signals on my analysis. For a technical signal to be validated, it must do so on close. Some analysts even need a 3% runaway from support or resistance levels to consider a technical signal. I just ask for a signal on close.

Considering HQSM.OB, nice move yesterday from support with no news. I will continue holding for the foreseeable future.

Market Advisors Initiates Coverage on HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries, Inc.

By Market Wire
Last Update: 9/28/2005 12:33:13 PM
   Data provided by

SEATTLE, WA, Sep 28, 2005 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) -- HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries, Inc. (HQSM) is pleased to announce Market Advisors has initiated coverage of their company. Market Advisors confirms a positive outlook on HQSM based on its analysis of the Company's projected growth and fundamentals. Market Advisors' price target of $1.25 indicates a strong short-term outlook. The complete, unedited analyst report appears below.

SEPTEMBER 2005

NEWS FLASH: With an overall growth rate of 11 percent a year since 1984, aquaculture has become one of the world's fastest growing food production sectors. This will only intensify as more demand for fish products will occur. As an inexpensive source of highly nutritional animal protein, aquaculture has become an important factor for improving food security, raising nutritional standards and alleviating poverty. Developing countries have led the way by 5 times over developed countries since 1984. Aquaculture is the fastest developing food producing sector in the world today, and the exchange of information on all related subjects is becoming a key issue in the management of this. HQSM seeks to be a leader in the aquaculture marketplace.

Investment Highlights

HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries, Inc. is primarily engaged in the harvesting, processing, sales and marketing of farm fed and ocean harvested marine products including Tilapia and shrimp. The Company operates in the environmentally pristine island province of Hainan, located in the South China Sea. HQSM's activities consist of using renewable ocean resources, practicing sustainable aquaculture using nutraceutically enriched foods, conducting fish, and processing the sales of their products. Along with Tilapia and shrimp, HQSM is also active in squid and red snapper which in turn are sold all over the world with the U.S. currently their largest market. The Company has storage capacity of over 3,000 tons and has recently renovated an aquatic products processing plant with capacity of over 200 tons a day in Hainan.

HQ Sustainable recently acquired a nutraceuticals and health products company, which is HACCP certified, and produces products subject to stringent laboratory tests certified by the China Ministry of Health. This plant produces nutraceuticals, which enrich feed used by HQ's cooperative agriculture operations. In addition to operational offices based in Haiku, Hainan, HQ has offices in Montreal, Hong Kong, New York City, Beijing, Shanghai and more recently Seattle. This allows the Company to diversify its sales strategies.

KEY POINTS

Recent trends in global fish production, consumption and trade reflect a fundamental shift in the structure of the supply and demand for fish and seafood commodities. Approximately 40% of the world productions of fish are currently traded internationally. While developed nations like Japan, the US and Europe are regarded as the major markets, both fish consumption and market growth had in fact been higher in the developing Asia. This trend fits in nicely with HQ's business plan and thus the opportunity for accelerated growth over the next few years. Few will argue with the fact that the demand for fish will continue to rise with population growth, increasing incomes and improvement in diets. The decline in the world's fish stock results from over fishing, indiscriminate fishing methods and degradation of coastal and inland ecosystems.

Aquaculture offers developing countries a means to earn foreign exchange through high-value species and a way for poorer communities to maintain a healthy diet and earn an income. We believe HQ is positioned for superior long-term growth, and we have initiated coverage on this issue. The support for our positive outlook lies in two key factors -- assets and people. HQ has the opportunity to emerge as one of the most active players in this industry on both the production and development fronts. HQ is clearly committed to delivering the highest quality product in the market.

I just saw that news too.  I have no idea on the $1.25 either, but it is easily obtainable given the revenue growth (the market cap is less than a year's revenues).  The market is very quite on this stock.  Today you bought heavily.  Yesterday there was extremely low volume and I know I accounted for a substantial portion of it (60K shares).  A bit of news and volume could produce some quick HYRF-like results I think....

Thanks do go to David on this one.  He found it - I simply like the fundamentals on the stock.  Rare to find a penny stock that already has big revenues (that are growing) and earnings and a growth plan that actually makes sense and products/a business that even Peter Lynch could love.    ::)

Looks like Friday it closed right at the 50% retracement level.  Now lets see some action!

Volume has increased too. Everything is set for a beautiful white marubozu to unfold. I simply love the fundamentals of this company and some of you told me it has a good product too.

I will continue holding HQSM.OB, whatever happens with the share price.

Another good call.  Applaud.  I have to thank God for those gut feelings I got...taking profits at .35 then picking up more again at the 50% retracement level for a cost basis of $.285 with a nice profit in between!

IMO, i'm seeing several bullish indicators:  MACD cross-over, 50(MA) crossing over the 200(MA), performing technically, break out on above avg volume...then there's the float.  Does the size of the float concern you David?

I'm glad that someone else has noticed the fundamentals on HQSM.OB. They noticed and published a very well constructed research with a $1.25 price target  :o

The research brings up some macroeconomic trends that I wasn't thinking but they are certainly true:

- Global demand for fish is rising and will undoubtedly continue to rise
- Global supply of fish is diminishing at a fast pace, th ocean can't produce enough fish

So aquaculture will be an extremely fast growing industry with increasing pricing power for the long term. HQSM.OB is well positioned in this sector.

I believe we'll have another strong up move today, to new highs above $0.44. I will continue holding this penny stock for the long term, perhaps the stock will move to another exchange in the future, I think it will !

QuoteDoes the size of the float concern you David?

No, it doesn't, but I read the following on the last 10-Q of the company:

«As of June 30, 2005,  there were 100,261,523  shares of the registrant's  common
stock outstanding.»

Now the research says 115,000,000 float. Probably the company issued some more shares in the meantime, I see no problem with that, since the stock is still way undervalued as you can read on the rest of this thread. It is being slowly discovered by analysts and they will perceive value at first glance, as Market Advisors did.

This can't be true, at least a trailing P/E of 12 should be warranted. So I'm not thinking about selling HQSM.OB with less than 200% profit.

Think this says it all!!!  :)

As David is short of time, keeping up to all of his promises (of which I think he's doing a great job next to another job!!!), it helps if one reads the whole thread. Lots of the time the answer is in there  ;)

Thanks

Ps: Nice move on HQSM again today. Looks like another donation is on the way  ;) Great pick David!

To pull or not to pull (trigger).... AH!
Title: Re: Awesome fundamentals on HQSM

I deliberately overloaded HQSM on the last pullback, anticipating a day just like today. When I saw it was up a third, I immediately pulled the trigger on my extra shares.

To my experience, this is the best way to reduce the pain in volatile pennies -- adding regularly on pullbacks, selling freely on progress. I am similarly overloaded in BRVO, won't hesitate to reduce my holdings to "normal" when the first strong positive action arises.

I don't know whether David agrees with this type of trading -- on a stock that ONLY pulls back it can be disastrous -- but it is my way to hang on, and prosper, in pennies.

Well, I think you shouldn't be overloaded in one single stock, period. I have a simple money management rule of fixing a maximum percentage of capital to allocate to a single stock. On the 3 Stocks on Fire Portfolio it is 6.66%. On the 3 Pennies on Fire Portfolio it is 10%.

Diversification is key for long term results, in order for an investor to make profits over the long run, he can't lose much of his equity. Preservation of capital is the first goal of a professional trader.

This isn't just about diversification, it is about controlling risk. You can have 10 different stocks, but if you have 50% of you capital in just one of them, doesn't matter what the fundamentals or your beliefs about the company are, you're taking way too much risk.

Anyway, just the way I view things, I want to trade for the next 20 or 30 years. But I respect other people's views  :)

Thinking of HQSM.OB, the stock pulled back on profit taking. It's always hard for a stock to move a lot forward just because of publicity coming out of a research text. That's treating the market as stupid, like it didn't know the fundamentals.

Anyway, fundamentals are indeed attractive on this one and longer term it will probably continue to push higher. I'm absolutely not concerned with short term developments and I'm not thinking of selling this below $1.

I agree absolutely. I maintain diversification; "overloading" for me means going from a 5% position to 10 or 12%. I do this only when I feel on very firm footing, as with HQSM and DESC, and the money for overloading comes from my cash reserves or occasionally from margin for very short terms and targeted purposes, seldom for more than three or four trading days.

I won't let go a stock solely in order to add to another (though sometimes it will be a small factor in a decision to sell).

For the same reason, I like to maintain carefully-chosen short positions as well as long, which often provide some green on those days where everything seems to dump...not only sectors, but the market itself demands diversification to preserve capital.

I agree with David and robt about overloading. I lost 30% of my total investment in IFLB when it tanked couple of pennies. Diversification is good bet..

I believe that's wise robt, maintaining some short positions on the portfolio will help you reduce your portfolio's market risk. Possibly in the future the 3 Stocks on Fire Portfolio will follow your strategy and add some short positions to the Portfolio, thanks for disclosing :)

Yes, it actually increases the profit expectation you can have for one year of trading. I guess something in between of holding from 10 to 20 different stocks is the right option. But more important than the number of stocks is the percentage of capital allocated to each one of them, it should never exceed 10% of the trading capital.

Concerning HQSM.OB, fundamentals continue to be awesome and now technicals are giving an hand too, I will continue holding the stock for the foreseeable future.

Nice intraday so far and I expect it will hold.

Here's why I view this "China play" as equally a "Gulf play" --

http://www.suburbanchicagonews.com/beaconnews/top/AU03_SEAFOOD_S1.htm

we know that HQSM farms shrimp, prominently mentioned in the article. Tilapia is closely related to snapper, and the taste is similar as well.

Also keep in mind that the most recent release regarding the Seattle office indicated that they will act as importers for third-party seafood products, as well as HQSM product.

Thanks for the interesting info robt  :)

HQSM.OB closed above $0.44, which was a mildly resistance level. The technical target of the breakout is $0.61, so I expect that in the coming weeks. But I won't sell at the technical target, as I've said, I'm looking for at least 2 bags on this holding, if nothing on the fundamental side changes.

I just saw that the company has increased the number of authorized shares from 200 million to 210 million which is allright.

We've had a minor pullback today on HQSM.OB, but the stock still managed to close at $0.44 which is a mildly important support level.

I will continue to hold this penny stock, no news out today.

HQSM Roadmap Update

Acquisition and Expansion Strategy

SEATTLE, WA--(MARKET WIRE)--Oct 6, 2005 -- HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries, Inc. (HQ) (OTC BB:HQSM.OB - News)

Dear Shareholders:

Since my last communication in August, HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries Inc., has positioned itself to execute its growth strategy.

Funding:

Loan Guarantees: The relationship with Amalgamated Resources Holdings Inc. ("Alps") has been extended to mid-October and the loan guarantees are available in support of traditional bank loans as well as debenture issues by the company. The debentures will benefit from a double A plus Standard and Poor's shadow rating as the Alps Bank guarantees will benefit the purchasers of HQSM debentures. The use of the guarantee facility will extend over time and be in increments of USD 10 million for a total of as much as USD 70 million. The proceeds will be used to expand the company's branding, vertical integration and production. The guarantee will not tie up HQSM assets as the founders will pledge a block of their shares for the five-year loan guarantee period. Management believes that this means that HQSM is assured of a "full tank of gas" for the years to come with minimal dilution, and maximum accretive benefits. The first draw dawn will take place in the coming weeks.

Expanded Shareholder base: HQSM has successfully expanded its profile to Europe as well as the United States through expanded sales of product and shares to investors as far away as Russia, Holland the UK and France. Since the lifting of the European ban on exports of frozen Tilapia and shrimp products from China, HQSM has increased exports to Europe which further increases awareness of our company and its capabilities in turn attracting more investors. Management believes that this base supports the company's increasing market cap and share liquidity. This is beneficial for the company for matters ranging from costs of borrowing to qualifying for migration to a larger Exchange. Recently, Market Wire has initiated coverage of HQSM.

Production:

Aquaculture products: HQ's unique approach to zero toxin production has attracted expanded markets and higher margins. Europe is consuming vast quantities of Tilapia filet (referred to often as St. Peter's fish as the biblical reference is to Tilapia) and we believe that European clients have chosen HQSM for its superior quality. With the completion of the feedmill later next year will come the acquisition of additional production facilities. Branding initiatives will further define our niche as a specialty supplier of premium products, increasing profitability.

Nutraceutical and Health products: HQ's feed supplements and health products are selling well. When acquired, the primary focus of the facility was to produce the nutraceutical additives for the new feed mill which we believe will be completed next year. Given the sensitivities of HQSM's American public, the acquisition excluded the seal related products. The company still sells shark liver oil and shark cartilage products. The raw materials for these products are sourced from the local fishermen who catch non-endangered shark as a by-catch for other fisheries. Sales of these products continues to expand. The Company has a direct marketing network which has attracted the attention of a major North American Direct marketer. The laws in China for direct marketing have been recently defined and represent a huge growth potential especially for North American and European players intent on piggy-backing on existing operations such as ours.

Feedmill production: In 2006, we believe our feedmill will be the sole producer in Hainan Province of more efficient floating feed for aquaculture. Fish filet uses only one third of the fish. The other two thirds will be processed by our feedmill to produce toxin-free feed for shrimp (replacing the ocean sourced fishmeal component in the feed). This low toxin shrimp will further benefit from nutraceutical additives in the feed produced in our nutraceutical plant. HQSM will make the profit flowing from sales to its cooperative farmers. This will improve the product and further enhance profitability.

Branding and Marketing:

Branding: HQSM is in discussion with one of the most celebrated sustainable product marketing companies to kick off its new branding initiative. This campaign will dovetail with America's "war on obesity." Zero toxin Tilapia and shrimp products provide low cholesterol protein sources without depleting the oceans or exposing consumers to Ocean toxins. The Gulf of Mexico fishery has been devastated by natural calamities and shrimp exports from HQ can help meet the shortfall. Responsible aquaculture, using HQ's methods, provides a long-term stable source for American quality protein needs. The new HQ brand roll-out later this year will build on the positives in this message, further enhancing market penetration and profitability. The CNBC Platinum Plus documentary is being expanded to include this initiative in the light of recent events and will be completed in the coming weeks.

To Seattle and Beyond: The move of our corporate offices to Seattle in the coming weeks is an endorsement of that community's recognition of quality in seafood products. The Pacific North West is a hub of seafood imports and home to a young mobile health conscious buying public intent. This same public understands and supports public companies with our profile and we intend to grow together. Having our corporate office there as well provides us with direct investor relations for US investors many of whom are from this region. The lessons learned in this region will help the company fine tune its message for other markets in the US and abroad.

Sustainability and Fair Trade: "Doing well must lead to doing good." Higher margins for a differentiated product mean more incentive to improve production and the means of production;

--  Motivate workers through proper pay, decent working conditions,
uniforms and on-the-job training, as well as training and monitoring of
cooperative aquaculture farmers and a stock option program

--  Equal pay for equal work, promoting women in the work force to levels
that other companies do not allow

--  Environmentally friendly, plant waste processing to International
standards and farming practices where waste water from farms is used in
vegetable farming as an inexpensive and toxin free fertilizer, is part of
respecting the communities in which we live

--  Socially responsible investors see in HQSM a force for progress in our
business for developing regions such as Hainan, where a large minority
population has suffered from years of neglect and most recently the effects
    of typhoon Damrey.

We welcome any questions or concerns that you, our investors, might have concerning our plans for growth and our partnership with you. Please contact us at [email protected].

Some highlights:

- "This is beneficial for the company for matters ranging from costs of borrowing to qualifying for migration to a larger Exchange."

Then the CEO says sales are doing well across the world, specially in Europe.

I guess these are good news, but nothing new  :)

I'll continue holding the stock since this is a long term investment on the 3 Pennies on Fire Portfolio.

Friday wasn't a kind day for HQSM.OB. I truly believe in the fundamentals of this company and I think its shares will rise a lot with time. I want to hold it for as long as the market agrees with my thinking, so I set up a long term indicator to help me, in a simple way, to know for how long I should hold this penny stock.

That indicator is the 121 period TEMA indicator (Triple Exponential Moving Average).

For today it stands at $0.33, so I will continue holding HQSM.OB.

No, it didn't change my thinking in terms of upside potential, but I always need to have a safety net just in case things don't go as expected. I love the stock's fundamentals, but we never know, and if it really starts trading down it's because something's fishy.

With this kind of plan I pretty much make sure that I will be in if a great bullish move develops (as I think it will, given the fundamentals) and at the same time I limit my risk if it doesn't happen, if, instead, the stock goes down.

David, I am surprised that you are willing to give leeway to a stock like EYII (a stock I am in and agree with the assessment), but not to HQSM.  I see this stock much like I see BRVO except sales and earnings already exist.  This stock was south of 20 cents in August ... but since its revamped facilities kicked in, things seems to be growing quickly, the company has a plan ... etcetera....  Why give flexibility to the more speculative plays like EYII (or a closer analogy - BRVO) and not give a little room to this stock?  Seems that the fundamentals warrant such, and a penny stock that has doubled in a few weeks is going to have some fluctuations that rigid technical charting just does not account for (which is why some folks have noticed that EYII actually seems to bounce after it actually breaks trend lines, not bounce off the trend lines)???  Educate me! :-[

Next year may see it traded as high as few dollars.

I will buy it tomorrow and prepare to hold it for one year.

HQSM Finalizes Financial Partnership

Partner Sees 7 Fold EPS Increase Could Flow From 70 Million Loan Guarantees

SEATTLE, WA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 10/18/05 -- HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries, Inc. (HQ)
(OTC BB: HQSM), a Delaware corporation engaged in integrated aquaculture
and aquatic product processing, announced today that it has signed a
financial partnership agreement with Amalgamated Resources Holdings Inc.
(Alps), a Florida corporation, for loan guarantees issued by Standard and
Poor's certified A+ rated banks, of up to an aggregate of USD 70 million.
Alps estimates the guarantees when fully deployed over the next five years,
will translate into an 8 fold increase in market cap, a 7 fold increase in
sales and 7 fold earnings per share increase. No assurances can be given
that such increases shall transpire.

In virtue of the agreement Alps will provide to HQ Loan Guarantees for its
expansion plans. The initial funding is expected for later this month and
the balance of the loan guarantees will be drawn down progressively over
time as required by HQ.

The first round of funding of USD 10 million is now expected for the end of
October 2005. No guarantees can be given that HQ will exercise its right to
this first round of funding. Pursuant to the terms and conditions of the
financial partnership agreement, HQ will appoint two directors, designated
by Alps, to the Board of HQSM and Alps will receive, as collateral, a
block of control shares from the founders of HQSM.

The funds are intended to be used to execute the roadmap announced earlier
this year by HQSM Chairman Lillian Wang. The first step will be the
expansion of HQSM's distribution marketing and branding initiatives in the
United States. This will coincide with the planned documentary to be
broadcast this winter on CNBC. No assurances can be given that the funds
will be used precisely for this purpose or that such funds will produce
increased revenues or profits.

Said Norbert Sporns, CEO of HQSM, "We have secured a five year partnership
with Alps for the expansion of our growth plan. Each step of our
development is a carefully crafted reflection of our commitment to quality
in the products we deliver. Educating the public to the important health
benefits of these products will be greatly facilitated through access to
this expansion capital. Management believes that increased branding and
marketing of our products will improve revenues and profitability while
maintaining the high standards of production made possible through
vertically integrated production."

Said Bernard Lapointe, President of Alps Bankers Canada, "We are pleased to
be a partner in the development of HQSM. We are committed to support HQSM
through the execution of its growth plan in bringing only the highest
quality products to the market through HQSM."

I've already done some trading on HQSM.  I'm holding for more this time.  Depending on where you draw horizontal resistance on the chart, this is either breaking out or getting close to breaking out of an ascending triangle.  And it's doing it on increasing volume. ;D

I love this company.  Think about HYRF, where the founders saw the stock price go up and then seemed to spend more time thinking "how can I make my one contract in China make me rich" rather than selling products.  Then think about HQSM.  It has a great business plan, is executing that business plan, and is doing so in a shareholder friendly way (the original founders are pledging their personal shares to obtain financing).  Can there be a better vote of confidence than what the founders are doing?  This management group has its act together (it shows in what they say and what they do), and this company has sales growth, earnings, and products that people will buy.  Every bit of news moves the stock up and significantly - I suspect that another good quarterly earnings report could make the move stick (I applaud those who have traded this one - I have been too chicken to try the in and out strategy here).

Thanks for your valuable input bigdogs99999  :)

We've had news yesterday for HQSM.OB:

HQSM Finalizes Financial Partnership

Some more highlights:

«Alps estimates the guarantees when fully deployed over the next five years, will translate into an 8 fold increase in market cap, a 7 fold increase in sales and 7 fold earnings per share increase.»

«The first step will be the expansion of HQSM's distribution marketing and branding initiatives in the United States. This will coincide with the planned documentary to be broadcast this winter on CNBC.»

The company will grow, a lot, and the investor community will notice that.

If we think about the upcoming shortage of fish and other sea food products (and at the same time growth in demand for these products) we can think of aquaculture as a rapid expanding market. HQSM.OB is strongly positioned on that market as we can see by this financial partnership.

I think things don't get much closer to a sure thing in the stock market. Buy and hold is the only acceptable strategy for HQSM.OB.

I still think this, although the stock fell 7% yesterday. Everything seems to be in order on the fundamental and technical side. Big movements sometimes take time to develop.

Massive Investor Relations Campaign: Over 1,000 Broker Dealers Targeted by CFSG for HQSM
Monday October 24, 8:08 am ET

NEW YORK, NY--(MARKET WIRE)--Oct 24, 2005 -- Consulting For Strategic Growth I, Ltd. (CFSG), an investor relations firm specializing in domestic and international companies new to American financial markets, has been retained by HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries Inc. (OTC BB: HQSM) to launch a massive investor relations campaign on behalf of the Company.

The campaign will include visits to regional broker-dealers in the northeast, introduction of the Company to numerous stock portals, and introductions to the financial and business media. CFSG is targeting over 1,000 broker-dealers in the coming year.

Stan Wunderlich, CEO of CFSG, said, "We are very excited about HQ's dynamic market potential. We enjoyed a relationship with the Company in the past and are pleased to renew it at this important moment in its development. The financial partnership with Amalgamated Resources Holdings Inc, announced this week, provides for loan guarantees of up to $70 million to support HQ's expansion plans. In the last 12 months, the Company, in our opinion, has positioned itself clearly as an international leader in zero-toxin aquaculture by enhancing its vertical integration with an expanded state-of-the-art processing plant, the acquisition of a nutraceutical manufacturing facility, and plans for a zero-toxin feedmill scheduled to open in 2006. This is coupled with new marketing and distribution initiatives, the opening of a new corporate headquarters in Seattle, and new financing. We believe the investment community will soon correct what we believe to be HQ's currently undervalued stock price."

Norbert Sporns, CEO of HQ Sustainable, said, "We worked with Stan and CFSG shortly after we became a public U.S. company and we believe their expertise will once again be important to our growth. We have built the company's fundamental business substantially in the past year, and we are now well positioned in a high-growth international market. We believe CFSG can make our potential clear to key members of the U.S. investment community and the financial and business press."

I'm curious...

This source (http://kbk.hainan.net/english/pre_roo/pre_read.asp?ID=117) states there are 115 million shares outstanding.  However, Yahoo finance reports 100 million outstanding.  Were there 15 million shares issued/brought to market recently?  If so, doesn't the company have to report this?  Or, were these shares issued to secure the $70mil financing?  I'm pretty new to figuring all this stuff out, so if anyone knows any additional info or can fill me in on why there is this discrepency, I would appreciate it!  Thanks for all your help and for the excellent analyses!

Well, on their last 10-Q report it says this:

«As of June 30, 2005,  there were 100,261,523  shares of the registrant's  common
stock outstanding.»

On the link you provided doesn't say if the shares are outstanding or authorized  ???, it says just "shares".

There was no new technical or fundamental information on HQSM.OB, I'll continue holding the stock. It looks like it is setting up for a white marubozu to new highs, we'll see.

it sounds like they are increasingthe numnber of authorized shares, probably for any future acquistions. The important thing is they didn't issue any shares to secure the financing they just received (over $70M credit line from APLS) for future growth. I like the fact that management owns 62% of the outstanding shares. They would not want dilute they own shares. Management actually used their own shares as collateral to secure the recent line of credit they reeceived, instead of issuing new shares.

HQSM CEO to Be Interviewed on MoneyTV

Financial Results and New Announcement to Be Discussed

SEATTLE, WA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 11/03/05 -- HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries, Inc. (HQ)
(OTC BB: HQSM), a Delaware corporation engaged in integrated aquaculture
and aquatic product processing, announced today that it has accepted an
interview of its CEO, Norbert Sporns, from the floor of the American Stock
Exchange, to be broadcast on Saturday, November 19, 2005, at 6:30 AM ET and
PT. The MoneyTV program will then be rebroadcast the following Sunday at
8:00 AM and 11:00 AM ET, Monday and Tuesday at 7:30 PM ET and Wednesday at
7:00 PM ET. The television program can also be viewed online at
www.moneytv.net as of the 18th of November.

Mr. Sporns will discuss HQ's financial results for the third quarter as
well as its new financial partnership with Amalgamated Resources Holdings
Inc. ("Alps"), which in mid October agreed to provide guarantees in support
of traditional bank loans for up to $70 million. HQ intends to use the
proceeds of such loans to expand the company's branding, vertical
integration and production. As a first step, the Company plans to expand
its distribution, marketing and branding initiatives in the United States.

Mr. Sporns will also make an important announcement related to the future
of the Company.

Mr. Sporns stated, "I believe this interview will provide investors and
the Wall Street community with fresh insight into HQ's strong financial
position and our unique potential for growth and leadership in the
international market for zero-toxin aquaculture products. We have recently
enhanced our vertical integration with an expanded state-of-the-art
processing plant and the acquisition of a nutraceutical manufacturing
facility, and we plan to open a zero-toxin feedmill in 2006, followed by
additional production facilities. We expect our new corporate headquarters
in Seattle will spearhead diversification of our international and North
American sales strategies."

Could there announcement be that they are moving to American Stock Exchange? They are conducting the interview on the floor of the American Stock Exchange.

The 3rd Qtr. numbers, must be pretty good, If the CEO is willing to be interviewed on TV to discuss them.

Things are looking very bright for HQSM.

Does AMEX allow sub-$1 stocks with low volume?  I'm not familiar with their rules.  BBC (another excellent, profitable chinese company, just doubled their revenues this quarter) moved to the AMEX, and their stock pps has done well.  So such a move has happened before with thinly-traded chinese companies.  (I would have chosen BBC for the stock-picking contest, but unfortunately it trades less than 100k shares/day!)

I believe this HQSM volume dry-up with no downward pressure is a good sign.  I've experienced that most "trendy" stocks that have doubled in the last few months tend to drift down on low volume (possibly because traders get tired of waiting for something to happen).  HQSM hasn't acted this way, although it is a little suspicious that the Barron's article and this MoneyTV announcement hasn't picked up volume at all... and that Norbert is touting his company (I would too if the other board-members and I owned 50%+ of the company).  All in all, there is very little "fishy" about HQSM that I can find, and the future looks very bright.  I nibbled a bit more today :)  I'm long 15k shares, so I'm ready to profit immensely (or lose my pants)... only time will tell.

The phrasing of the release, stating that HQSM has "accepted" an interview request, is a little disingenuous.

MoneyTV is paid by the companies that it features, or so it seems from the following page, which refers to these companies as "clients."

http://www.moneytv.net/moneytvbrochure2.htm

At any rate, it does seem likely that they have good news to share if they are taking this step now.

I think eggman11's speculation makes perfect sense. The fact that they will conduct the interview from the floor of the AMEX exchange possibly means the CEO will make the announcement that the company will soon be traded on that exchange, instead of the OTCBB.

Thinking of AOB, a Chinese company that I used to own but was silly to sell, when it moved to AMEX the stock price doubled in just a couple of weeks.

Volume is increasing and the price is threatening its former high of $0.53. It looks like that white marubozu to new highs is coming. That would set the stage for HQSM.OB to approach $1 (I also don't know if a stock can start listing on the AMEX below $1 - but maybe HQSM.OB will rise above $1 before it makes the move  ;D).

After speaking with Norbert Sporns about his company, I have taken a substantial position.

Some notes from the call.

-  They are trying to get into the retail side (restaurant distribution)
-  The weather played a large role in the lack of production last year
-  The new capacity should exponentially grow HQSM
-  Low public float as insiders have a large stake
-  Seattle should provide a base for business in one of the largest seafood markets
-  Norbert cannot speculate on the future
-  He hinted towards filing before the 15th
-  Norbert also said they qualify for the AMEX.  He would not say whether or not they are going from BB to AMEX now, but he said it was the goal.

We will see.  I am buying in order to not miss an early filing and the interview from the AMEX floor.   ;)

The IR campaign is paying off -- there's a flurry of press releases, all (I believe) from sites that carry a "client relationship" with the stocks they tout.

I'm not saying this is  bad thing -- ANY exposure for HQSM is good, especially if they can follow up with solid good news.

Greetings from HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries Inc. I forwarded the attached answers  yesterday to my IR person. I wanted him to structure a more formal reply. However while waiting for him, I send you the answers I gave to him.

See below in red.

Best Regards,
Norbert Sporns, CEO

I am intrigued by your company and have a few questions.

How many total shares authorized, outstanding and in the float ? 110 million

How many shares do you currently have ? The founder group owns 75 million shares

Have you or other insiders sold in past 6 months, if so, why ? No

Is the financing with Cornell ? Is it toxic ? Non financing with Cornell.
No toxic funding
.

Will the 15th filing be on time ? Yes   ;D

Why did the long term price go from over $ 1 to under 20 cents ?  Registration of an SB2 went effective for early stage investors.  When they sold the share price dropped.

Was there a past split ? No

Any plans for a split ?  (I will not invest if a Reverse Split is in the future) No

Do you continue to grow rapidly ? Of course

Should this quarter filing reflect new growth ? you will see shortly

HQ Sustainable Maritime (HQSM.OB) announced that it has retained investor relations firm Consulting For Strategic Growth I, Ltd. to launch a "Massive Investor Relations Campaign." According to the plan, CFSG will promote the stock though meetings with over 1,000 broker-dealers.

Check out CSFG's client list at http://www.odwyerpr.com/pr_firms_database/prdc21e.htm.  They obviously cater to small, struggling companies.  If HQSM is "firing on all cylinders" why do they need to do this?  This might be worth asking Norbert about...

They are basically paying tens of thousands of dollars to have consultants and media pump the stock... which I find a little odd.  I must say that HQSM is about the least fishy of the pennies I've found (well, besides BRVO) :)  But does anyone else find it odd that they would stoop to this level and spend this money if all is going well?
Title: Re: Awesome fundamentals on HQSM

Great question.  Norbert said in a call this week that it is because they are trying to get to the AMEX.  He said they are now set to sell the concept to distributors for restaurant chains.  His answer to your question was that the company is firing on all cylinders and more exposure can only help.  With Norbert and insiders holding 75 million shares and NOT selling a single share, I am not concerned.  And AMEP nearly rose ten times this year.  So PR is welcome along with strong quarterly reports.  Always a risk, but I agree that HQSM seems better than most.  Call Norber, he is very open to investors.

Thanks for responding so quickly, fill_the_gap.  It makes sense, even if I would not do it the same way.  Then again, I'm not CEO of a $50mil company... :)

Chances are slim I will get the chance to give Norbert a call this week, but I'll give him a ring next week.  It'll be best to hear it again - by comparing exactly what is said (and how it is said/what is emphasized), perhaps I will get some sort of hint about what is true versus what is still speculation.  I'll let you all know what I find out next week.  Best of luck to all!

Owen,

FCCN is an example of trusting a CEO.  So always proceed with caution with pennies.

Norbert said that he hopes to file before the 15th.
Why do that unless it is positive?  We will see.
And all of the interviews scheduled can only help for now.

HQSM Hit a new High today currently at .56. The stock has had huge volume over the past few days and is getting ready for a huge move. once ARCA gets out of the way. Any thoughts on ARCA and their sitting on ask? They have been sitting on the ask for days. Once they are done we will fly.

AMEX requires a bid price of $3, or pretax annual income of $50.

Prospect of a reverse split i the 10:1 range doesn't make me very happy.

I thought there was a $1 or $3 minimum as well... but check this out...

http://www.amex.com/equities/howToLst/Eq_HTL_ListStandards.html

Under both the standards for foreign companies and US companies, standard #3 is:

Shareholders' equity  $4 million
Total market capitalization $50 million
Distribution1  800 public shareholders and 500,000 shares publicly held
OR
400 public shareholders and 1 million shares publicly held
OR
400 public shareholders, 500,000 shares publicly held, and average daily trading volume of 2,000 shares for previous 6 months
Market value public float  $15 million

There is no mention of price in this requirement... interesting.  Either way, I am enjoying the recent action on HQSM :)

No press release yet, but here's part of the financial discussion for the Q:

Results of  Operations - Three Months  Ended  September  30, 2005 as Compared to
Three Months Ended September 30, 2004

One of our  subsidiaries,  Jiahua Marine (which was acquired in August 2004) was
engaged in manufacturing and selling of health and bio-product. During the three
months ended  September 30, 2005 and 2004,  Jiahua Marine  contributed  sales of
$2,593,384 and $1,187,648 to the Group respectively.  The gross profit ratio for
this  segment  was  about  85% for  both  periods  and  the  major  expense  was
advertising,  corresponding to about 33% and 46% of revenue for the three months
ended September 30, 2005 and 2004  respectively.  The net income  contributed by
this segment was $947,164 and $499,429 for the three months ended  September 30,
2005 and 2004 respectively.

The other principal  activity of the Group was the  manufacturing and selling of
aquatic  products.  The revenue  contributed  by this segment was $5,919,597 and
$6,477,639 for the three months ended September 30, 2005 and 2004, respectively.
The gross  profit  ratio of this segment was at 21% and 28% for the three months
ended  September  30,  2005 and 2004,  respectively.  This  segment  contributed
$781,805 and  $3,516,708 to net income for the three months ended  September 30,
2005 and 2004, respectively;  in 2004, there was a non-recurring recovery of bad
debt which affected results materially.

For the three months ended  September 30, 2005 revenue  increased by $847,694 or
11% to $8,512,981.  This compares to $7,665,287 for the corresponding  period of
prior year.  The increase  resulted from improved  performance by the health and
bio-product  segment in 2005; the sales in the aquatic product segment decreased
by $0.6 million  compared to the third quarter of 2004 but it was covered by the
increase in sales of health and bio-product at $1.4 million. In third quarter of
2004,  the  production in the  aquaculture  product  segment  resumed from major
renovations of our factory during the first half of 2004, as customers  required
more products after the long renovations  period of 2004. . The 2005 increase of
revenue from the health and bio-product  segment was due to the fact that in the
current  quarter,  sales  included  three months of operating  results of Jiahua
Marine,  compared to one and a half month of operating results in 2004 as Jiahua
Marine was acquired in August 17, 2004.

Cost of sales increased by $490,440 or 11% to $5,065,821 from $4,575,381 for the
three months ended September 30, 2005, as compared to the  corresponding  period
of the prior year.  Approximately  78% of the increase was due to the  increased
activities in the health and bio-product  segment as that segment operated since
the  acquisition  of Jiahua Marine from August 2004.  The overall  percentage of
increase  in cost of sale is almost the same as that of  revenue,  supporting  a
stable gross profit ratio in our company.

PRESS RELEASE FOR SALES   :o

Revenues for the nine-month period ended September 30, 2005 increased by nearly $9.7 million, to more than $18 million from $8.3 million in the corresponding period of 2004, a rise of 115 percent. Revenues for the three-month period ended September 30, 2005 were $8.5 million, up from $7.6 million for the same period in 2004

Great day for HQSM's price action  ;D. Todays candle broke out of an ascending triangle on above average volume. The prior resistence at .53 should now act as support. Also it appears that a new shorter/steeper trend has developed pulling away from the longer term trend.

You might find that the secondary trend line looks a bit different than the way you have it drawn. Mr fousc, try connecting a new secondary line that begins from the 0.33 circle on your chart - you will find that the secondary trend line begins there and connects the obvious support levels to form a LESS steep secondary line than the one you have drawn BUT one where todays action bounces right off of it. Sorry that I dont know how to draw the chart with pencil marks or I woudl do it for you. So with the volume breakout and the support holding that sounds pretty good to me. Thats wahy I bought moer at 0.47 today.

Do you follow my logic - I hope you can see what I mean?

I'm sorry I took so long to update my analysis on HQSM.OB. Here's my take:

- Earnings were good and confirmed the «awesome fundamentals» of HQSM.OB.
- But, the 200 hundred year old sentence «buy the rumor, sell the fact», did it again.

So, people sold off on the good news. But, thinking of the future, it seems much better than the present (which is much better than the past) and with about $50M in market cap this company is undervalued.

No doubt I'll continue holding for the foreseeable future.

I'm going to listen to the interview in a moment.  I don't get the drop either unless it's coming down to test the ascending trendline.  If that is the case, this decline is very good - it'll shake out any weak hands and give a more committed base for the next leg up.  I'll post a synopsis of the interview...
Title: Re: Awesome fundamentals on HQSM
Post by: basonista on November 18, 2005, 12:07:16 PM
OK, here are some of the main points I gathered from the interview:

HQSM is the #1 exporter of Talapia from China to the US.
Focus on 0 toxin product
Talapia market increasing in US and EU
Toxins from industrial waste
Fresh water talapia eliminates toxins - targeting high end groups such as Whole Foods in US and distribution systems in EU.  Responding to demand for higher quality product.
Talapia an important product because it doesn't have the fishy taste or smell of most seafood product, hence the popularity and increase in demand.

Quarter results - best quarter since being listed 18 months ago.
Tip of the iceberg in growth potential.

Wants to increase awareness of 0 toxin product.

Aquaculture filling increasing demand with a superior product.

Seafood industry at a crossroads being able to produce a quality product to supply the demand of the markets.

Mentioned a foundation that is willing to fund future expansion.  Seems to think this is a great thing although doesn't give more information.

The interview really didn't provide any new information except maybe the financing from some foundation.  I remember hearing something about this already so maybe it's not new either.  I have felt all along that the potential for HQSM is huge anyway - especially once they continue to expand production and further distribution through grocery and restaurant channels.  I am slightly overweight on HQSM and will continue to add if I can kick some of my other laggards in the butt and get them moving.  ;)

I'm learning more and more about MM manipulation of stock.  Just posted a response to KCScott about it on the TIII thread.  The dropoff on HQSM this morning is a good example.  High volume selling with a plummet in price to trigger trailing stops that people have set.  Then they gobble up (haha, Thanksgiving next week, get it?) all the shares on the way and the price starts to creep back up to where it was before the fall.  I don't know who can set trailing stops on OTC stocks, I can't with Ameritrade, but you see pretty much the same pattern whenever it happens.

HQSM Receives Letter of Intent for Major Support From U.S. Foundation
Tuesday November 22, 8:08 am ET

Announcement Made in Wide-Ranging Business Interview on www.moneytv.net

SEATTLE, WA--(MARKET WIRE)--Nov 22, 2005 -- HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries, Inc. (HQ) (OTC BB:HQSM.OB - News), a leader in zero-toxin integrated aquaculture and aquatic product processing, announces that a West Coast-based U.S. foundation has provided HQSM with a Letter of Intent for funding the development and expansion of the Company's zero-toxin aquaculture production, which HQ conducts in part through cooperation with aquatic farmers in China and various developing countries.
Norbert Sporns, CEO of HQSM, announced the receipt of the Letter of Intent in an interview conducted by MoneyTV.net last Thursday, November 17, 2005. "We have received a Letter of Intent from a major foundation in the U.S. which has indicated its willingness to fund our expansion for years to come, based on the profile we maintain both in producing very high quality, toxin-free products and doing tremendous good for communities where we are operating in developing countries," Mr. Sporns told the interviewer.

The interview, which discusses a wide range of matters regarding the Company, can now be heard on www.moneytv.net. Broadcast of the show on various television stations began on Saturday November 19, 2005, at 6:30 a.m. ET and PT., was rebroadcast Sunday, November 20 at 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. ET; and continues today and Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. ET and on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. ET. Specific channels for different locations are listed on the Web site.

Regarding the LOI, Mr. Sporns said, "This is something we did not expect and that I'm sure our investors will be happy to see in the coming months."

The foundation has proposed to provide HQ with several million dollars to support the Company's new marketing and branding campaign to achieve a high profile in the United States. Subsequently, the foundation would provide additional funding as the Company progresses for the foreseeable future. In return, HQ will place an officer from the foundation on the Company's Advisory Board and would make a voluntary annual contribution to the foundation. No assurances can be given that such funding will be provided or that a definitive agreement shall be reached.

Hi la-onda,
Unfortunately, I don't see "awesome news out"  :(
To my mind, it's "old" news: Norbert Sporns, CEO of HQSM, announced the receipt of the Letter of Intent in an interview conducted by MoneyTV.net last Thursday, November 17, 2005".

Hi fousc,
What are you see today regarding HQSM? I'm not an expert in TA, but I'm afraid, if HQSM will close below 0.42 (0.41), next move could be breakdown up to 0.375-0.35 or... 0.275.
I don't like MACD negative peak-trough divergence at all. So, I see in HQSM only "Awesome fundamentals" still in the game, but in OTC stock "fundamentals"  is a very insecure category ("HYRF history" still stays before my eyes...).

Any comments....  ???

hey Gri64,

Sadly price action had a downside breakout of the ascending trendline which doesn't make me happy..........at all >:(. though support looks as though it may be building at .42. The lows of the last 3 days have been .42. As well price action lows hung out around .42 before this last rally. If this support doesnt hold tomorrow i will sell before the close.

Good luck everyone and lets hope for a rally tomorrow  :-\

When "MoneyTV" announced they would interview Sporns on the floor of AMEX, there were those who posted on the Yahoo boards that the company was about to be listed. I think a fair number of speculators came in on this assumption.

This kind of easily-misread signal is not what I like to see from a company that has my money in their care. But that alone isn't enough to turn me away.

Secondly, however, their IR consultants are placing them with too many financial touts that specialize in the paid pump. That alone, as I've mentioned before, is not of great concern if there is real news behind the PR.

But third, there is the "big news," the LOI. The thing about LOIs is they represent less than a commitment; you can't even call an LOI a promise! And why must this foundation whose intent is funding go nameless? What reason have we to believe that this funding will be on terms that are beneficial to stockholders? The mention of a "foundation" implies a grant -- entirely "free money." Why do I doubt that this is the case?

Does the idea of a foundation grant underwriting corporate expansion not sound "fishy" to anyone besides myself? Granted, they produce "very high quality, toxin-free products and doing tremendous good for communities," but aren't there many non-profits engaged in equally beneficial efforts that are desperate for "funding" (whatever Norbert means by this term).

So it's not a wonder to me that shorts, naked or otherwise, are being attracted by HQSM like flies to u-know-what, and no surprise in the recent downward momentum.

The fundamentals seem still good, but this management style is pushing HQSM nearer to the category of firms like HYRF and EYII.

I've reduced my holdings considerably. I stand ready to re-enter only if there is evidence that real news will replace the hype. Surely the #1 importer of Tilapia must have an occasional contractual win they can brag about? Give me real news, not a LOI from an unamed entity.

If the hype continues, and if the stock gains share-price due to hype, I will be viewing HQSM strictly as a short candidate.

I think we all still have HYRF and EYII in the back of our minds  :-[ :-[ I most certainly do and will be reminded every day till they're back up and I'm out of the loss.

Still, HQSM does not remind me of them. I don't read bragging and the fundamentals are great!. The thing I do not like at the moment is that HQSM broke the ascending TL riding .004 per day. Yesterday that was at $ 0,446  :-X. That makes me very careful today. I'll watch it and if it goes down further I'll take profits and maybe get back in at a lower level. I'm not willing to lose more of my profits.

I'll be watching with you guys today.  If the last 3 days' support at .42 fails, I'll probably be out.  One consolation is that yesterday's close was right at the 50% fib retracement level drawn from the late September run.  As long as HQSM doesn't close below that, the bullish run can be considered intact.  Watching....

I think you are right, robt.  I'm sure he will "cleanse" the entire pennies portfolio.  I sold HQSM already.  It is not looking strong at this point and the technicals continue to break down.

I am modifying my view of the OTC stocks more and more and am concluding that penny land is for traders and not investors.  I know you will find that rare diamond in the rough and be able to hold long term but most pennies are operating in a seriously impaired financial climate and must either dilute the share base or sign up for risky or questionable financing just to stay in business.  I would rather trade the pennies and hold more stable companies for the long term.

Just one trader/investor's opinion. :)

After much soul searching, I decided to hang on to HQSM. I like the business they're in and feel there is potential. I myself think twice before eating farm raised fish because I've read that wild caught actually contains fewer contaminants like heavy metals. However, wild caught is generally more expensive. This is no momentum play, certainly, but I believe in the long term value. Good luck to HQSM holders!   ;)

I'm hoping to see HQSM hold around this range.  This is right on the 50% fib retrace level between about .15 and .58, the whole of the bull move.  Consolidation in this area will provide me some comfort.  It goes below .35, I'll take my loss.  I'm in small at .42.

NEWS FLASH: Fish farming or "aquaculture" has become a multi-billion dollar industry, and more than 30% of all the sea animals consumed are now raised on these "farms." Aqua farms can be based on land or in the ocean, and this sector has been hailed as an answer to declining wild fish stocks caused largely by over fishing. HQSM has already enjoyed immense success and is fast becoming a solution for the significant declines seen worldwide over the last several decades.

Aquaculture is growing three times faster than land-based animal agriculture, and fish farms will surely become even more prevalent as our natural fisheries become exhausted. HQSM appears to be poised to capture an even larger part of this rapidly growing sector.

HQ SUSTAINABLE MARITIME IND., INC (OTC BB:HQSM.OB - News)

Investment Highlights

--  Aquaculture is one of the fastest-growing segments of the United
    States agricultural economy
--  Global demand for fish, especially in the US, has reached new all-time
highs as fishing catches are quickly being depleted
--  Value of aquaculture production in the US  exceeds 1 billion
--  China is the world's largest aquaculture producer, accounting for 68%
of all aquaculture products. India is second.
HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries, Inc. is an integrated aquaculture and aquatic processing company, with operations based in the environmentally pristine island province of Hainan, in China's South Sea. HQSM's activities include using renewable ocean resources, practicing cooperative sustainable aquaculture, and conducting fish processing and sales. Its variety of farmed and ocean-harvested product -- ranging from tilapia and shrimp to squid and red snapper -- are sold around the world. Since we initiated coverage back in late September, HQSM has demonstrated its ability to deliver revenue and earnings growth. A number of factors help HQSM manage the growth because they bring state-of-the-art technologies to the fishing and aquaculture industries. HQSM is China's leading producer of quality tilapia fish exports to the United States.

HQSM possesses key characteristics that should command it a premium in the market. These attributes include a strong, experienced management team with a proven track record for building shareholder value in the aquaculture business. Successful execution of its processing plant allows for 200 tons of capacity per day, which meets or exceeds all international standards, including the highest environmental standards for waste treatment. HQSM has met its benchmarks for its original rollout strategy involving its processing plant.

STRATEGIES & INVESTMENT CONCLUSIONS

The company continues to increase market share in the fish processing market by providing innovative and cost-effective solutions, including harvesting, processing, sales, and marketing of farm-bred and ocean harvested products. As well as having the capability of freezing storage facilities with capacity of 3,000 metric tons and aquatic processing bases in Hainan. The Company seeks to expand products and services within the faster-growing, increasing demand oriented industry that fish farms offer. On October 17, HQSM reported that a financial partnership agreement was executed with Amalgamated Resources Holdings, Inc (ALPS), a Florida based corporation, for loan guarantees of up to $70 million. ALPS estimated the guarantees, when fully deployed over the next five years, will translate into an 8 fold increase in market cap, a 7 fold increase in sales and 7 fold earnings per share increase.

It's easy to see why we are so favorable on the future of HQ Sustainable. In just a few short months the company has already exceeded our expectations and has risen over 45%. And that looks to be just the tip of the iceberg. For investors, we believe the near-term opportunity for HQSM stock is its potential for achieving relatively visible, high cash flows that would be created by rapidly increasing revenues enabling the company to cut costs and increase production. Consequently, we believe that due to improving operations and more likely increasing cash flows, this stock is going up. We now raise our short-term price from $1.25 to $1.75.

gri - I view the new corporate facility as a strategic move targeted toward increasing company visibility in a geographic area where fish are big business. Increased visibility (and, of course, competent management and solid products/services) may help growth. Profits are up. Of course, with any penny stock it is wise to be skeptical. Why do you say the latest news is not "real" or "serious" ?

Hi twodachsie,

The information and opinions in this report were prepared by Market Advisors, Inc. (located in Nebraska) who does receive fees for services including preparation of this report. For this report, officers of Market Advisors Inc received $2,500 from a non -affiliated third party.

2. I think,  last news is on the level of LOI... It's not a new contract or new positive results or something else real. Lte's see...

gri -- I agree with you that it's wise to be skeptical of paid "pumping." The new headquarters location and increased revenue and profits seem to be real enough, though, so let's not throw the "baby out with the bath water."  ;)  Hey, but what do I know -- I'm not a pro either. First sign of a farse and I'll take my losses.

HQSM Signs Term Sheet for US $40 Million Loan

SEATTLE, WA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 12/14/05 -- HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries, Inc. (HQ)
(OTC BB: HQSM) announced today that it has signed a term sheet for a US$40
million loan with a prominent U.S. specialized commercial finance company.
Use of proceeds will include development of greater distribution for HQ
products in the United States, as well as expanded capacity for organic,
toxin-free fish farming and the construction of the Company's
state-of-the-art, toxin-free feedmill in Hainan province, China.

The loan is guaranteed through HQ's financial partnership with Amalgamated

Norbert Sporns, CEO of HQSM, said, "This substantial funding supports the
next phase of our growth plan to become the world market leader in

Washington. While HQ produces a variety of aquaculture products sold
around the world, our current focus is on the production of farmed tilapia

consumer, and HQ is China's leading exporter of quality tilapia fish
products to the U.S., currently commanding 10 percent of the market."

No assurances can be made that definitive documents will be executed or
that HQ will borrow any or all of the $40 million.

Another paid report from "Market Advisors Announces...".
To my mind, nothing new...but we have a "micro rally"  :)

I'm not an expert in TA, but it seems to me, we can get something interesting, if HQSM will closed today above 0.36 and will be able to break 0.4 in some days.  ???
MACD and Price in a positive diveregence; RSI and MFI - buy signal.
But in the same time we have 3 strong resistance levels...  :(

Any comments will be appreciated.

IMO In this Press Release the most interesting thing is:
"Disclosure: TwinTrader LLC was compensated $10,500 by a third party for profile coverage. TwinTrader LLC are not registered investment advisers or broker/dealers...."

So, it's new paid "pumping" report, nothing new...  :(
I'm out and still waiting to return.

I hope not! Next week will gives us all a  clue...

I never stopped loving HQSM's fundamentals. The market for OTCBB stocks may start to improve from  now on. The stock held the $0.27 support level and made a nice technical breakout on Friday.

I'll buy back HQSM.OB for the 3 Pennies on Fire Portfolio, about $1,150, or 10% of the 3 Pennies on Fire capital.

I am in at .31 ....  After my nice returns from UGHO I am searching for another diamond in the rough... HQSM I remember from last year was very sound. I see the short term projections by Market Advisors to be 1.75...  My take on that is the 1.75 which is an upgraded number from 1.25 may be a little high but the stock surely is worth $1.00, especially if they continue to execute.

Another positive for me is the uniqueness of their product in a growing industry. With the markets looking positive little jewels like this in OTCBB land can sometimes fly like the wind...

I plan to be around awhile......

Friday could be the bottom of the right shoulder of a inverse Head and shoulder pattern.
With the friday quote we clearly see the descending resistance line changed into  a support line..
Could HQSM finally rebond Nord with a first target  of  0.365+(0.365-0.265)=0.465$ ?

It seems HQSM's CEO was on Money TV this weekend, anybody heard the interview?

«HQ Sustainable Maritime Systems, Inc. (OTC BB: HQSM) CEO Norbert Sporns commented on a "good 2005" and looked forward to positive results continuing in 2006.»

Look at HQ's website (http://www.hqfish.com/), sounds tasty  ;D

I'm ahead 6.56% on this trade and I'm expecting HQSM.OB to break $0.365 on the upside and move further North.

Everything is set for HQSM.OB to break $0.365 on the upside, let's see if it can make it the next couple of weeks.

I'll continue holding, I believe in the company's products and management.

HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries Closes on Private Placement of $5.225 Million
Thursday January 26, 8:18 am ET     ::)    :P

HQSM Positions Itself for Strong Growth in 2006

SEATTLE, WA--(MARKET WIRE)--Jan 26, 2006 -- HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries, Inc. (HQ) (OTC BB:HQSM.OB - News), a leader in zero-toxin integrated aquaculture and aquatic product processing, announced today that it has closed on a private placement offering of $5.225 million, provided by a small group of experienced accredited investors.

Terms and conditions of the financing are included in a Form 8K, which the Company will file forthwith.

The net proceeds will allow the company to directly market and brand its zero-toxin products to U.S. consumers and targeted retail outlets. This is a landmark event in the growth of HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries as it centers in the United States the marketing and sales of its products as well as its corporate offices. The company intends to expand the range of products it markets as it executes the "roadmap" outlined in December 2005 by the Company's Chairman. The Company expects this will have a strong positive impact on both sales and profitability.

Norbert Sporns, CEO of HQSM, said, "We are extremely pleased to receive this financing from such an important group of accredited investors who understand the huge growth potential of the aquaculture markets and HQ's capability of becoming the world market leader in zero-toxin production in this field. Our strong branding, marketing and distribution initiatives in the United States are in place to capitalize on the U.S. market growth and increased consumer awareness of quality toxin free food products."

As a favor to the 3sof, I am considering posting all of my holdings, so that everyone will know when the next private placement will be, or when the next negative pr will be released.  If I buy them, it is guaranteed to follow.   ;D

Let the Private Placement games begin, just like with BRVO.

I am out until a breakout occurs.  Norbert had told me that they had all the financing to move forward.  Why a pp ?  This does not add up, imo.

Yes, fill_the_gap, and when people see the private placemente red flag they run for the exit.

Private investors get an 8% interest on their notes, and a nice leverage in case the company performs very well, since the notes are convertible at a price of $0.30 a share, more class A ($0.35) and class B ($0.40) warrants.

Because of this private placement the share count may rise to 144.38 million. On September 2004 it was 70 million, and before that less than 30 million. This company is diluting shareholder value every chance it gets, and it doesn't matter how it business performs, the market cap is substantially rising without the share price rising.

I bought HQSM.OB at $0.32 and the stock closed at that level yesterday. I'll sell it today around the open, I don't want these kind of stocks on the Pennies Portfolio, it's too risky.

Why is a good question!   ???  But I would not label this a Bravo.  Bravo keeps taking in money and is not really much of a business.  It licenses brands, it has someone else make the product, and it has CCE to distribute the product.  Yet it keeps wanting more money - for what? - who knows.   HQSM is completely different ... it is trying to create a vertically integrated company that does everything from growing the fish, to selling, to distributing.  It actually has a use for capital (why it is a private placement rather than using the much touted credit facility does bug me), so I am not so alarmed to see HQSM seek it in some form.  I think that the stock held up well yesterday considering the news and am holding it.  For me, this is the best stock by far in the pennies portfolio.

Bigdog,

The comparison is not to BRVO as a company.

The issue is what happens to the stock after a Private Placement becomes part of the equation.

No doubt that HQSM looks better than most pennies.  But we all know what control PP's have with being able to short the position with a hedge.  The public gets played while they make the money trading it in a range.

With Norbert saying most will occur 2007 and beyond, they will have more confidence in a short.  And with any news, they can cover and be hedged with the long pp.

It seems like a great company though.  The price is the concern.  It will be interesting to watch.  Any breakout with volume and I will consider an entry.

Good Luck,

Good Luck,

Fill,
You are right about the concern ... always an issue with a private placement ... but I cannot fathom that someone wants to play the game of shorting and hedging with a 30 cent stock that has an established business and is making money.  Perhaps I am naive, but there is simply too much risk and not enough upside for the type of investor who truly plays that game.  Sometimes PPs are to real investors and for legitimate reasons, and the hard call for someone like me is figuring out when that has occurred.  I have put my money where my mouth is on this one and am sticking in (unlike Bravo where the good posters of this board made me reassess and get out of my position).  If I read it correctly, the HQSM press release indicates that the PP is convertible debt "which can be converted into equity or repaid as debt at the Company's option within 24 months."   HQSM issued something that it can control maybe ???.  Good luck to you too.

HQSM clarifies financing (updated)
UPDATE (2/2): I received the following email from CEO Norbert Sporns today, which he has given me permission to reprint here:

Greetings from HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries Inc. I have answered your questions below. I have prepared these answers now that the Chairman's press release has clarified many of the outstanding concerns of investors and this information is properly made public to all, as I understand from our lawyers is required in the United States.
Of course this type of financing has costs associated with it that may seem high to some. Believe me we are working in the best interests of shareholders in structuring the best funding available. Our window on opportunity requires executing our plan as quickly as possible.
As a company with Chinese operations active on the Bulletin Board in the United States, we are subject to many factors which are not under our control. The investors in the announced financing have sent four representatives to China conducting a thorough due diligence on the company and attach a reward to their approach commensurate with market forces. One day China companies will not suffer serious discounting for their efforts. In the interim we are creating a unique niche for ourselves as the premium exporter of zero-toxin Tilapia and other products. We are working within the limits of the current business environment between these two great countries.
Those investors patient enough to understand this will certainly be rewarded for the groundbreaking efforts we are making.
Senior management is now coordinating in China with its senior staff in preparing for the coming year...as our office is being physically moved to Seattle. This is also the most important holiday period of the year for Chinese and a time for taking stock of one's blessings within family, friends, employees and supporters.
We thank you for your coverage of our company and the attention of your readers. We look forward to a prosperous lunar New Year and wish you and your staff and readers all the best.
Best Regards,
Norbert Sporns, CEO

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Earlier this week I posted a critical analysis of HQ Sustainable Maritime's (HQSM.OB) (articles) recent equity financing. At that time I had asked the CEO to clarify several aspects of the financing. Although the company did not respond to my email, the company today issued a press release addressing the financing. To be fair to the company, I have reprinted the text of the release below:

    Dear Shareholders:

HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries Inc., enters into the lunar new year delivering on its plans prepared and presented last year. The recently announced funding is in the form of a convertible debenture which provides for immediate funding for the establishment of our new corporate, marketing and sales offices in Seattle. This instrument is a loan which can be converted into equity or repaid as debt at the Company's option within 24 months. The new offices in Seattle will open officially later this month. We will be there next week setting up when the container arrives.

This funding not only allows the Company to execute on its planned establishment of a distributor of our products there, but allows the Company to increase awareness of the importance of our zero-toxin product focus and to reap the benefits of more direct sales, increasing sales, market penetration and profitability. The company will in addition broaden its scope of products to cater to seafood purchasing requirements.

This funding step is also necessary to shift the Company's "centre of gravity" by improving its profile for substantial lenders attracted by the Company's future prospects but preferring a stronger US presence. Finalizing this long-term USD 40 million loan funding can now be completed in the coming weeks. Further expansion of fish farms, production and feedmill will follow immediately in response to unprecedented demand. The benefits of this rapid growth is to seize the opportunity presented by the Company's unique zero-toxin products consolidating its leading position as set out in my December 2005 Chairman's letter.

In management's estimation, 2005 has been our best year yet. We believe that our record sales and profits are only a precursor to the benefits associated with growth management expects in 2006. We have withstood the test of Typhoon Damrey, the worst typhoon on record for Hainan, unseasonably cold weather in early 2005 (which fortunately has not been repeated this year) and the normal challenges of presenting a growth company's change. We are working hard to continue to advance the Company towards the achievement of its objectives and we believe, 2006 will be a landmark year in our growth.

We take this opportunity to wish our investors, clients and friends a happy and prosperous lunar new year.

We welcome any questions or concerns that you, our investors, might have concerning our plans for growth and our partnership with you. Please contact us at [email protected].

    Lillian Wang, Chairman

My take: (1) I am glad to hear the chairwoman still speaking about record 2005 profits and strong 2006 expectations; (2) I am glad to see the $40M financing is still on the table and should be closed soon; (3) neither of these facts changes my impression of the equity financing -- it was unnecessarily expensive and unduly dilutive.

DISCLOSURE: I am still long a bit of HQSM.OB.

updated from BLog:
HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries (HQSM:OTCBB) (02-13-05 Closing Price $0.28 USD) Strong Speulative Buy - 12-month target price: $0.65.

HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries is a very interesting company which has positioned itself in a very interesting and potentially lucrative market, aquaculture a.k.a. fish farming. This might not sound like a sexy industry, but if present results are any indication, this a fast growing industry with lots of profits to be made. They describe their business activities as follows:

"The Group is principally engaged in the vertically integrated business of aquaculture through co-operative supply agreements, ocean product harvesting, and processing and sales of farm-bred and ocean harvested aquatic products. The principal products are cross-bred hybrid of tilapia and white-legged shrimp exporting, directly and indirectly, to the United States, Canada, Japan and European countries".

In other words, HQSM is a vertically integrated seafood company focusing on the production and distribution of tilapia and shrimp, who obtain their fish through supply agreements with local fish farmers. Tilapia is one of the fastest growing seafood products, with American demand growing from almost nothing 10 years ago to more than a $175 million/year market today. HQSM demands strict quality standards and work with their suppliers to ensure a high quality product grown under certain conditions and practices. The extensive use of nutraceutical feed plays a large role in HQSM's quality control. HQSM uses the highest quality nutraceutical feed to promote healthy zero-toxicity fish. According to food and agriculture organization of the United Nations "There has been a consistent downward trend since 1974 in the proportion of stocks offering potential for expansion, coupled with an increase in the proportion of overexploited and depleted stocks, from about 10 percent in the mid-1970s to close to 25 percent in the early 2000s... Information available continues to confirm that, despite local differences, the global potential for marine capture fisheries has been reached, and more rigorous plans are needed to rebuild depleted stocks and prevent the decline of those being exploited at or close to their maximum potential." Natural maritime stocks have been over-exploited and may continue to decline if they are over-fished. In the future growth in supply will have to come from aquaculture and HQSM is one of the leading aquaculture companies in the world and thus are well organized to exploit these trends.

In addition to the sale of fish, HQSM is also engaged in the production and sales of patented marine bio-products and healthcare products in China. These products consist largely of shark based nutraceuticals for human consumption, e.g. Shark Liver Oil Blend with Vitamin D and E. These products have been developed through years of research through a partnership with Qingtao Ocean University and its Marine Bioengineering Research Institute. Traditional Chinese Medicine reveres the shark for its strength, vitality and power, as well as for more scientifically quantifiable health benefits. Chinese nutraceuticals plays have been one of the best plays of the last year, with AOB up over 500% since its low this year and SUWN up a remarkable 4750% since its low of the year. The nutraceutical division at HQSM is certainly something that I like to see. Nutraceuticals are a particularly flexible division, in that there are a few strategic options which are all fairly attractive. HQSM may develop this operating line further, leveraging their maritime expertise and capabilities. They can utilize the division for cash generation purposes to fund their larger ambitions of zero-toxin aquaculture. Finally, the Chinese nutraceutical industry is undergoing a fair bit of consolidation, led by CEOs like Tony Liu of American Oriental Bioengineering. These companies would potentially like to acquire a profitable nutraceutical division.

The nutraceutical division itself has been a strong driver of HQSM's growth this year, with profits for the division increasing over 400% for the first 9 months of 2005. Consolidated growth over the last year has been explosive, with revenue increasing 116% year over year for the 9 months ended Sept. 30. Net income increased at an even faster rate increasing to $1,980,921 from 370,072, an increase of 435%. This kind of profit increase is not to be expected going forward, nonetheless, management expects to see 30% growth going forward. Trailing 12-month earnings are $3.74 million, and with a weighted diluted average share count of 102,693,123 as of September 30, earnings are 3.6 cents per share. Based on Monday's closing price of 0.28, this equates to a price/earnings ratio of 7.7.

Over the next year, HQSM plans to grow its aquaculture division through the construction of a feed mill, as well as the expansion of their production line and the purchase of 2 additional flash freezers. These additions should help HQSM to gain additional economies of scale in their aquaculture production. This will be important going forward to improve their return on assets for this particular division. The strategic focus of HQSM going forward is based on the development of a North American distribution capability centered out of their new corporate headquarters in Seattle. They have chosen to market their product as premium zero-toxin seafood. HQSM's management believes that going forward, branding the zero-toxin nature of their products will allow them to gain an extra premium on the price of their goods. Toxicity in seafood has become of particular concern over the last few years, with people being advised not to eat tuna more than a couple times per week due to high mercury levels. The concern of mercury and other aquatic toxins are unlikely to decrease in the near future and very well may increase going forward. HQSM has obtained the HACCP certification for exporting aquatic products to the US and Japan. In addition to this certification, they have also been assigned an EU Code for exporting aquatic products to the EU. The company claims that this designation is "highly coveted since very few new attributions of code are being accepted". These 2 certifications, will allow HQSM to export to these Western markets which are more likely to pay a premium price for its zero-toxicity Tilapia and Shrimp.

Over the last year HQSM has undergone many important financing events. They recently issued a $5 million convertible debenture, which is convertible at $0.30/share and has warrants attached with strike prices between $0.35-$0.40. This financing has adversely affected the share price recently, but with the financing in the past, and the share price still hovering around the conversion price, anywhere in the $0.27-$0.32 region is a great buying opportunity in my opinion. As well, management has secured $70 million in loan guarantees from ALPS Corp, an international investment bank. The terms of the loan call for the principals of HQSM to surrender a controlling block of their shares as collateral for the loan, as well as the appointment of 2 members for ALPS to the board of directors. It is uncertain if HQSM will exercise these loans, but it gives them flexibility, access to capital and growth option for the future.

HQSM is undergoing many changes over the next year, they are beginning to market their products more aggressively in North America and have expanded their production facilities. HQSM is well poised to take advantage of the growing demand for seafood, and the declining availability of exploitable natural fish stocks. This is a company that is already profitable, but is quickly growing and making a lot of capital expenditures. Considering the growth, and somewhat risky nature of the expansion of business, I am rating HQSM a strong speculative buy with a price target of $0.65, based on a TTM P/E ratio of 18.

HQSM is a great fundamental play.  Go through this thread for details.  As I stated above I thinkwe have room up to .44 if we get some more volume.  The volume today. although good, may not be enough to show up on the radars, we'll see.  It doesn't appear to be much of a trader's stock anyway.

This is a long-term hold for me and I'm averaged in at .39.  Personally, I don't see myself selling for at least another 6 months unless it just goes parabolic.

I don't think you'll see wild swings in this based on its past history.  The only reason I haven't bought more is because I've been short on cash.  Obviously, there is strong support around .30 and unless they get bad news, they'll stay above that.  They need some news to rekindle the fire.

I started to comment today when it hit .36 that it looked an ascending triangle formation (ceiling at .36) nearing the crossover point.  It blew right on past .36.

I have been watching this stock for last 6 months. It seems that it over exposed because of so much Pumping and PR. It is way diluted too. IMHO

HQ's New "TiLoveYa(R)" Brand a Hit
Monday July 17, 8:08 am ET

New VP Predicts Major Sales Increases

SEATTLE, WA--(MARKET WIRE)--Jul 17, 2006 -- Trond Ringstad, HQ's new Senior Vice-President Sales and Distribution, with Sustainable Maritime Industries, Inc. (HQ) (OTC BB:HQSM.OB - News), a leader in zero-toxin integrated aquaculture and aquatic product processing, has completed a whirlwind survey of customer reaction to HQ's new zero-toxin "TiLoveYa ®" branding and has been overwhelmed by the reaction. The strongest reaction has been from three large national retail chains. Details will be released once arrangements have been finalised. Trond has also overseen the updating of HQ's web site to reflect the new marketing theme, "...All Tilapia are not created equal, 'TiLoveYa®,' zero-toxin Tilapia products for lovers of healthy food."
Said Mr. Ringstad, "The response to HQ's zero-toxin, quality-first, vertically integrated model as represented by the 'TiLoveYa®' brand has exceeded all of my expectations. Recent reports of banned substances used by competing corner-cutting producers in China where dozens of exporters have been shut down, only enhances the importance of HQ's vertically integrated approach. Finally the public has a choice...'TiLoveYa®.'"

Trond Ringstad, owner of Pacific Supreme Seafoods (http://pacificsupremeseafoods.com)) and pioneer in the sale of Tilapia for his former employer, Royal Supreme Seafood (http://www.royalsupreme.com/),, has been hired by HQ as Senior Vice-President Sales and Distribution. In addition, HQ has acquired, for cash and restricted common stock, the goodwill of Mr. Ringstad's company, which includes a network of agents, who are expert in the sales and distribution of Tilapia products, as well as a thriving seafood sales and distribution business including such products as shrimp, crab and scallops. These additional products will help HQ penetrate the retail seafood market in the United States and, later this year, Europe. Mr. Ringstad has signed a three-year contract in virtue of which he is expecting to achieve in excess of US$15 million in sales for his first year, after a period allowing for the roll-out of its new branding and marketing campaign over the next few months, with a minimum 10% annual increase for the subsequent years.

HQ Secures Organic Tilapia Supply: Capacity to Double
HQ Expects to Be the World's #1 Organic Tilapia Producer

SEATTLE, WA, Aug 08, 2006 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) -- HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries, Inc. (HQSM) a leader in zero-toxin integrated aquaculture and aquatic product processing, announced today it has signed a conditional agreement with the Government of Tayang Town, Qionghai City, Hainan Province, to partner with cooperative farms operating an additional 10,000 mu (Chinese measure which is equal to 1,647 acres) capable of producing some 20,000 tons of tilapia live weight.
This will double to 3,294 acres the farming capacity available to HQ. The agreement is conditional on the completion of financing for the construction of a new feedmill and processing plant in the immediate vicinity of the farms. Everything produced will meet organic standards as defined by Naturland, whose standards are currently adopted by the FDA.
Qionghai is about 40 minutes from HQ's current cooperative farms in Wenchang and is in close proximity to one of the best fresh water reservoirs in Hainan. All of the farms are in one township and thus in immediate proximity to each other, a factor required for organic certification.
The total project cost will be approximately US$30 million. Management believes that, as a result of this agreement, HQ will be the world's largest producer of organic tilapia. HQ management expects, through its current TiLoveYa(R) marketing and branding campaign, to see strong growth and increasing consumer awareness of the importance of toxin-free aquaculture products that achieve organic standards.
These cooperative farms have accepted terms and conditions which management believes are much more beneficial for HQ than the current cooperative agreements. Each farm will have to acquire feed from HQ's mill to meet the Company's strict organic standards, and to accept company feed financing to access HQ's new processing plant in this township. The arrangement reduces the risks for the farmer and, in management's belief, provides HQ a much greater percentage of profits from feed to processing than is currently possible. These certified organic farms will not be allowed to sell their production to other processors unless HQ is unable to buy their production.
The new processing plant will have 6 production lines with value-added capabilities allowing HQ to make fish sticks and fish patties as well as fillets and whole round products, as currently is the case.
The new feedmill will produce organic floating feed, which is the most efficient feed for such farming operations. There is no floating or organic feed production in Hainan currently. Production will satisfy not only HQ's expanded demand for its combined aquaculture farms in Wenchang and Qionghai. It will also provide feed for such other aquaculture operations in Hainan as shrimp and other farmed species. The plant will manufacture some 100,000 tons annually of feed and will source organic non-GMO corn and soya from China and abroad.
Regarding the agreement, Norbert Sporns commented, "Such agreements are possible for our organization because of the leadership role HQ plays in developing Hainan's aquaculture industry to global standards. We are a 'Dragon Head' company designated by the Government of China as an industry leader. This status is possible through the pioneering work of our Honorary Chairman Mr. Wang Fusheng, to whom all of us are indeed grateful."

More news for HQSM.  Volume is up a bit lately and several bits of news that have all been favorable.  If the sales improve from the partnerships and new hires (and they don't dilute), this will most certainly move.  May take awhile for the numbers on sales to show up though.  It has built a solid base around .30.  On the upside, if we break .34 on volume, .40 is in play, break of .40 puts .44 in play.  On the downside, if we break .26...lookout below.

Of course, JMHO.  It might be worth somebody with some technical experience to take a look at the price action since last year's highs.  Looks like a well-established downtrend line and a soild bottom at .26.

HQSM Hires New Retail Sales Manager
Robert Emel Brings Years of Experience in the Seafood Industry

HQSM, a leader in zero-toxin integrated aquaculture and aquatic product processing, announced today it has hired Robert Emel to head up HQ's retail and value-added sales and branding.
Mr. Emel has been working in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest for many years, managing various value-added seafood companies and was responsible for a ten-fold increase in sales in his last position.
"He has built up and sold several seafood-related businesses and has a unique results-oriented approach which is key to success in the industry," stated Trond Ringstad, HQ's Senior Vice President of Sales and Distribution.
Said Mr. Emel, "I have been watching HQ's revolutionary marketing approach and just had to join the team. The opportunity represented by HQ's zero-toxin, quality-first, vertically integrated model -- as represented by the 'TiLoveYa(R)' brand -- is unprecedented."
Said Mr. Ringstad, "I have known and worked with Bob for years and expect he will make an immediate impact on sales as we continue to rollout our new brand 'TiLoveYa(R).'"

HQ Sustainable Maritime Featured Tonight on "Business & Beyond" on Chicago's CLTV
Wednesday January 31, 9:17 pm ET

SEATTLE, WA--(MARKET WIRE)--Jan 31, 2007 -- HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries, Inc. (OTC BB:HQSB.OB - News) (formerly HQSM), "HQ," a leader in toxin-free integrated aquaculture and aquatic product processing, today announced that CEO Norbert Sporns is featured in the PTGTV educational series, "Business & Beyond," to air to Chicago audiences over CLTV Chicagoland Television each Thursday throughout February 2007, with the first showing tonight.

The segment, part of "Business & Beyond's" Models of Excellence feature, is to be broadcast February 1 (tonight), 8, 15 and 22 at 1:00 AM on CLTV, Chicago's Emmy Award-winning 24-hour news channel, which reaches more than 1.8 million households. CLTV has received numerous regional Emmy, National Press, Associated Press and other awards, recognizing the channel for its programming excellence.

"Business & Beyond" calls attention to HQ in a segment on "Toxin-free aquaculture," part of its Models of Excellence feature. The story, filmed in China and Seattle, highlights HQ's toxin-free vertically integrated Tilapia business. The series also touches on the increased concerns regarding toxins in ocean-sourced products and the solutions that HQ's farmed product can provide.

"We are very pleased that this educational series, produced by PTGTV, continues to bring the story of HQ's toxin-free 'TiLoveYa®' products to large consumer and business audiences throughout the United States," said Mr. Sporns. "Consumers are rightfully concerned about increases in toxicity levels in seafood and need to be informed about what choices exist. 'TiLoveYa®' is a fun brand that addresses the serious need for the lowest toxicity levels possible in food."

PTGTV's "Business & Beyond" program was broadcast in Pittsburgh and Cincinnati in November and December 2006, respectively. In January 2007, it reached audiences in Salt Lake City. It will continue to be broadcast to major U.S. markets throughout 2007.

The company (formerly HQSM) recently completed a 1-for-20 reverse stock split, and has applied and is expected to be listed on the American Stock Exchange by the end of the First Quarter, 2007.

HQ also announced in December 2006 that it has broken ground for the first organic-extruded feed mill in Hainan which will produce 100,000 tons of organic floating feed and is expected to be completed in the Fourth Quarter of 2007.

HQS since its frank rebound at the 9$ support level, is poised to go back to the 11,75$ mark, the first resistance level.
We can see on Friday the 13 July a nice breakout from a triangle formation.

HQSM-->HQSB.ob-->HQS(Amex)
It seems  that HQS just experience a false breakout.
I am glad that the 3% drop stop just over a strong ascending support line, let see if it will rebound from here,  I am confident it will, regarding the small volume involve in the drop yesterday.
Otherwise, HQS will go down to meet the next support line at the 9$ level.

HQS is back over the 13ema and 50ema marks and the volume is improving,
all bullish signs so what else can we ask?

Maybee just one thing?
I  wish to see HQS crossing the 10,25$ Resistance line
with conviction before expecting any major developments at
the next levels: 11,60$, closing a gap at 12,25$ and  then 13,00$
