Title: PRTL.OB
Post by: AussieTrader on May 27, 2005, 12:10:40 AM
Haven't worked out how to post the chart yet, but...
PRTL seems to have found a bottom, nice action past 3 days with vol building, closed at the high $0.8. I like the risk reward here as there is a huge 1 day red candle from about 3 weeks ago that could well provide a resistance less path up to $1.50. Further the 50sma is at $1.25 and the 200sma/ema  at $2 and above. The late day surge may cause a gap open but if vol follows then it will be interesting.

i owned PRTL for a few months.
lost money and moved on.
i read quite a bit about PRTL.
it's main business as a long distance telephone service provider has fallen apart.
it is going nowhere with "lingo" voip.
its telephone "calling card" business fell apart.
it has $600m in debt with $50m in interest payment due each year.
its bonds are being bought for 20 cents on the dollar.
each small runup on NO NEWS never holds.
earnings are coming in august and i expect them to be bad.
i sold at $0.65 and expect to see it at $0.30 one day.
i expect it to go bankrupt and be owned by the bond holders.

be extra careful with Primus.

PRTL has $600m or so in debt.

PRTL has announced they "may" buy back debt with a bank loan of $100m that they received.

when they buy back debt (which trades at 50 cents on the dollar or less) PRTL can add that "gain" to the income statement.

many long time PRTL holders belief this "trick" enabled them to report a profit back in 2003 and jumpstart the stock.

personally i expect "core" business to report further deterioration.

i expect "new initiatives" to report a nice gain but since it is so small it will have little effect.  last quarter new initiatives grew at 100% from $7m to $14m but PRTL is a billion (sales) company.

i think lingo will show disappointing results too just as EGHT just did.

overall i believe PRTL will go down further before going up.  i think its dead money for at least another quarter.

just my thinking.

i think the smart money is buying the bonds not the stock of PRTL.

Another on my Naz penny scan, I have traded PRTL before, kinda forgot about it but now looking again.
Company is trying to focus on growth areas (broadband VOIP etc) and fanfaring what they are acheiving (currently burning cash), but they are making positive statements about what they have done and how that will positivly impact revenues. Current market cap is $82M, Most recent qtr revenue $293M (but with $44M net loss). Anyway stock is way undervalued for sure.  All that aside the chart is telling me it wants to be above $1 and soon. Consolidated today after nice push up on decent vol, also the consolidation day was good vol. Plus there is a big red 1 day candle from $0.73 to $1.61. That will close given more momo and indications of the turnaround in company results.
Probably gonna buy this risk reward

PRTL is going up on the rumor that it will IPO its canadian operations.
otherwise PRTL would continue to be dead in the water.
when i look at valuation for PRTL i do not look at it as $83m.  I look at "enterprise value" which includes their debt of $650m.    to buy PRTL would cost $733m.

rumors are funny...

this PRTL rumor is so good that if it proves to be true, imho, PRTL goes to $3+.

if the rumor turns out to be false PRTL will fall back to $0.50 quickly.

i hope PRTL (the company) doesn't squash the rumor.

as long as the rumor holds I think PRTL goes way UP.

id like to add... $500m to $600m (canadian dollars) for PRTL IPO of Canadian subsidiary is an amazing valuation to me.  i would have guessed $200m or less.

that is why PRTL will be worth so much more if the rumor proves true.

PRTL also is huge in Australia.  ironically the talk of IPO-ing part of PRTL was always Australia subsidiary not the Canadian subsidiary.  so this is a surprise.

Sorry, started a new topic. Didn't see this one. :-\

My information was:

For some weeks I have been watching Primus Telecommunications Grp. I can't really explain the rise two weeks ago and why it seems to remain steady around $ 1,80. Was wondering if anybody has an opinion on this stock. My feeling is it will go up to about $1,10-1,20 but I can't fully back it up with TA (also have problems uploading a chart) .

Hope I'm on the right board for starting this topic. Quite new to the site, which b.t.w. is great. If possible would like to applause everybody putting effort in opinions, responses, feedback etc.

Thanks!

Got some information now from others. Thanks. Will keep an eye on this one  ;D

Nice volume and rise in pps today.  It was a g pattern play at the break of .85, and the chart looks great at this point.

if the rumor of a few weeks ago proves true PRTL will really rocket UP.  i would not be surprised to see $3.00.  PRTL is supposedly IPO-ing its canadian division for $500-$600m.  That's huge given the marketcap last time I was in it was around $50m.  As for the debt.  Its well manageable as they picked up a bank loan for over $100m 5-6 months ago.

As for whether PRTL will go up or down from here I have no idea.  To me its depends on the rumor and u TA guys would know better.  eliteG just bought and sold some.  see his message board for his take on it.

quite a day! over a 20% swing. it seems with this much volume it should be able to break up to that next resistance around 1.28, shouldn't it? staying in for now.

PRTL back to 9-day and trend line at $1.04 normal place to buy or add but selling in rather constant so could wait. I got some in here in case it moves back and will hold until the recent lows of $0.95 as that needs to be more solid support

Volume Indicators...
has since Jan 2007 started a pattern of UP on HIGH volume and DOWN on LOW volume. Until the more traders finally accept the idea of a PRTL recovery, it looks like this pattern will persist. Although the pattern is Bullish, it is frustrating to see gains from large volume transactions melt back.
Let's see when that happens. The next large purchase...might do the trick.
