Hi,

Great comments njshiva  and Rickjust and highrollin01...Perhaps it is not a false start...

Well, for help everybody, i believe we can buy this stock...

Yesterday a hammer appeared with gap tested with success...Good signal. I just hope today a gap doesn't appeared. Therefore, low volume appeared on pullback up to gap (support).

But as NASDAQ is bearish and HOKU is always in a major Downtrend, we must to be prudent. So a first target at 4.90 is prudent. If we are right, we sold half of our positions at this level and we will see if HOKU go up.

Of course a stop loss is set at 3.60

What do you thing about this strategy ?

Just bought HOKU @ 5.08.

Broke out of the large falling wedge formation off the recent highs today, , and it looked like it found significant support at 4.87 yesterday.  Nice pullback this afternoon for a late entry.  With a stop at 4.84, that would give me a risk of 4.7%.
Upside resistance at 5.35, 5.50, 5.95.

C'mon HOKU get it goin  >:D >:D

HOKU daily chart:

Showes support from the September high that HOKU bounced of on Friday.  Also the 13 ema has caught up with the current pps, and looks like it might begin supporting the price movement.  If 4.87 breaks, next support looks to be at 4.55 and then at 4.40, but I think we could see a bullish rebound from this level next week.

I have been in Hoku since 5.3, so its a nice 17% gain but I dont know why it is not holding onto its gains for the last 2 days. It starts off great in the pre-market on news but declines during the trading day. I thought that with more confirmations that Hoku is going strong with its plans to build the polysilicon plant, it would have gone back to $7.

Hoku and Suntech Sign $678 Million Polysilicon Supply Contract
Wednesday June 13, 4:05 pm ET

POCATELLO, ID and WUXI, CHINA--(MARKET WIRE)--Jun 13, 2007 -- Hoku Materials, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hoku Scientific, Inc. (NasdaqGM:HOKU - News) established to manufacture polysilicon for the solar market, and Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd. (NYSE:STP - News), one of the world's leading manufacturers of photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules, today announced the signing of a definitive contract for Hoku's sale and delivery of polysilicon to Suntech over a ten-year period beginning in mid-2009.

Under the contract, up to approximately $678 million may be payable to Hoku during the ten-year period, subject to the achievement of milestones, the acceptance of product deliveries and other conditions. The contract provides for the delivery of predetermined volumes of polysilicon each year at set prices, using a take-or-pay approach, beginning with the first shipment in 2009 and continuing over a ten-year period from the first shipment. The contract also provides for an initial deposit of $2 million to Hoku upon signing and requires that Suntech make additional prepayments for products in the amount of $45 million. Under the agreement, this prepayment is to be paid to Hoku in installments, subject to Hoku's successful achievement of certain polysilicon quality and production volume milestones and other conditions. The prepayment amount is backed by a letter of credit issued to Hoku by the Bank of Communications. The contract includes a provision that allows for either party to cancel years 8 through 10 of delivery for any reason. Such cancellation notice must be delivered to the other party prior to the end of the fourth year of delivery under the agreement.

"We are pleased to have established this relationship with Suntech, a long term leader in the solar industry," said Dustin Shindo, Chief Executive Officer of Hoku Scientific. "Their rapid growth and dynamic leadership team make them an ideal partner for our company."

"Securing a long-term supply of polysilicon from Hoku will enable us to continue to expand our manufacturing capacity and execute on Suntech's strategic plan," said Dr. Zhengrong Shi, Suntech's Chairman and CEO. "We look forward to a strong and enduring business relationship with Hoku."

Hoku is in the process of building a plant capable of producing 2,000 metric tons of polysilicon per year in Pocatello, Idaho. Hoku announced in January the signing of a seven-year polysilicon supply contract with SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. that would provide for approximately $370 million in payments to Hoku over the term of the agreement. Hoku estimates that the establishment of this plant may require total construction costs of approximately $260 million. In connection with the financing of this construction, Hoku intends to seek debt capital of approximately $150 million. While Hoku believes that it is on track with the establishment of the polysilicon plant, under the agreement announced today, if Hoku is ultimately not successful in building the polysilicon plant, or if Hoku does not meet certain quality and productivity milestones or timely deliver minimum quantities of polysilicon, the agreement provides that the initial direct deposit will be returned to Suntech, and the letter of credit may be cancelled.

Why? I don't think HOKU will get the financing  they need and even if they do it will be at about $8 or lower. Furthermore, they will not be able to build the Pocatello plant in the time frame they expect because the winners there are gruesome and not many people can work construction jobs.

I shorted at $14 akk the way to $8. I wanted to short again at $11 but Scottrade did not have shares for shorting this stock.

Next earnings and the subsequent 4 to 6 quarters will be horrible. Don't be surprised to see HOKU at $3 in a not too distant future

Why would you NOT think HOKU will get the financing???  Yes the winters in Idaho are cold...but I've lived in Minnesota and Wisconsin most of my life...(colder than Idaho) and construction does take place in the winter.

It's pretty obvious your agenda here(short).
Title: Re: HOKU!! What in the world is up with that?

I am making my comments based on HOKU's track record. They always start something and get out of that business quickly after their efforts fail. They have changed their business plan several times in the last 2 years. Now they think that they will start polysilicon shipments in early 2009. That is not going to happen even if they had all the money in the world right now.

The winters in Pocatello are very harsh and they in almost never outdoor construction for about 3 - 4 months of every year. They can't even pour foundations in winter because it won't cure under those conditions.

The reality is that HOKU has not secured the financing they need to make Sanyo happy. Sanyo has already given an extension until October 17, 2007 for HOKU to obtain financing to start building the polysilicon plant.

My guess is that if HOKU does get the financing in the next few days, it will create a dilution of about 40M shares and I don't think that they can get more than $6/share.

HOKU would like you to believe that construction is moving on all cylinders but the reality is that nothing has happened on the site since they broke ground in May when they broke ground with lots of fanfare.

The latest earnings release contains the following statement:

...."The Company commenced construction in May 2007, and assuming the financing can be obtained, it anticipates the availability of polysilicon beginning in the first half of calendar year 2009.."

A poster on the Yahoo board hit it on the head when he said:

CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS??

NOTHING HAS HAPPENED SINCE THEY BROKE GROUND IN MARCH (according to this local news report dated September 17, 2007)

http://www.kpvi.com/Global/story.asp?S=7089412

The article reads:

..."Within the next couple of months, construction will begin on this site, replacing the rocks and weeds with a $260 million plant."

OK....that will be like December when the temperature is minus 20 degrees. very few people work outside in Pocatello in winter time and those are mostly emergency crews to restore electricity, etc.

Then the article also says:

"...With construction complete by the end of 2008,"

Are you kidding me? ...they will build the whole plant in 8 months of available weather? Plants of that size and complexity are usually built in 18 months.

They have not ordered anything yet because the design is not finalized. Many of the key pieces of equipment and instruments are long delivery items. There is a lot of demand on process equipment coming from refineries being upgraded and undergoing turnaround all over the place. Manufacturing shops are maxed out fabricating high-pressure vessels and other equipment. Control valves, compressors, pumps, boilers cooling towers, waster treatment plants, water treatment plants, etc are long delivery items. Many of those have to be build specific for a project because of pressure, temperature, flow constraints...they are not waiting on the shelf ready for the HOKU truck to pick them up.

Now, Stone and Webster has an excellent safety record and they will not jeopardize the safety of construction crews to expedite a project just because the owner (HOKU) over-promised and it is now desperate.

You guys need to do a little more DD on this one. BTW, I am not short. I can't short with a cash account.

Good luck to you

I made some technical work for your HOKU chart with comments if you don´t mind. Overall this is bullish view and I like the fact that stock took correction for 50%. 38.2% and fib 50% lines as those are the one´s most likely starting new impulse for upside (elliott waves terminology).
