Title: The Future of 3 Stocks on Fire
Post by: David Randolph on July 31, 2005, 11:10:21 PM
The Future of 3 Stocks on Fire

1. Brief historical review

Everything started on a beautiful morning in April 2005. Out of nothing, I wrote an e-mail to my partner Ramsburg telling him to make a website fast, I wanted to share my strategy of trading stocks with other traders and investors. The name was «www.3stocksonfire.org». Amazingly the URL was available, Ramsburg, an experienced stock market trader himself, loved the idea and worked day and night to program this website.

Since then, we've made a public and diversified portfolio of US stocks which is up 140% (543% annualized) and 3stocks grew day by day at a rate that we did not expect at all. But we're very pleased of having, at this time but increasing every hour, 2492 registered users and about 2 million page views per month. Our registered users wrote more than 13,000 posts in just about 3 months and we want to thank everyone who has in some way participated in the success of 3 Stocks on Fire.

2. Acknowledges

I want to thank everybody who registered on 3 Stocks on Fire, specially the ones who wrote messages or made donations, this has really helped us facing this project in an ever more serious way and brought responsibility to our work. You've made great picks on our boards and exchanged phenomenal trading ideas, from which I've learned a lot (in fact, I believe this has been one of the most fruitful learning times I've had in my 10 year trading career).

I want to thank you all !

3. The future

3 Stocks on Fire is just a child, a child with a bright future, if it gets your help. There are a lot of things we're going to do, starting October 1, 2005. First of all, me and Ramsburg created a company, based in Delaware, which is designated «Stocks on Fire LLC» and this company is now the owner of this website. We want to get more time and get even more dedicated to this project turning ourselves into professionals (at this time we're doing this just part-time, with a lot of effort). So we're moving part of 3 Stocks on Fire to a subscription based service. Our long term idea is to grow this project into other areas related to the financial markets and turn «Stocks on Fire LLC» into a publicly traded company (we'll start by the Pink Sheets :-)), so maybe some of you can join and grow with us through this journey. We've already made some contacts in the US concerning this. Our ultimate and final goal is to one day, who knows, open an Hedge Fund in the US.

Not all content of the website will be paid, just the premium content, I'll explain that next. You may now be wondering: «if these guys were such great traders, why would they need the subscription fee?» The answer is that we trade for performance and wealth creation, not for income. We rely on other sources for income, since we know (from personal experience of being full time traders for years) that trading for income brings a lot of financial pressure, and financial pressure with time leads to stock market losses. Besides that, we believe our service, specially the part of a publicly managed portfolio, will be better if it is only known by subscribers.

We want to be full dedicated to this website, and in exchange we'll offer what we consider to be a very valuable service to our subscribers.

4. Our service

As you probably already know, we have several message boards. The boards Stock Picking, Penny Stock Picking, Stock Talking, Story Behind the Move (will change it's name to Long Term Picks) and the inevitable $1,000,000 board will continue to be free for all registered users.

The boards «3 Stocks on Fire», «3 Pennies on Fire» (just created), and «Members Board» (just created) will have a monthly fee to be accessed (starting October 1, free until then - on the Members Board only Honours Members will be able to write messages, reading is allowed and free for everyone just until September 30th). The board 3 Stocks on Fire will continue just as it is now, with the management of a public and diversified portfolio with daily updates to all holdings and comprehensive justifications to all moves. The difference is that all posts will have an answer. The «3 Pennies on Fire» board will be very similar to the «3 Stocks on Fire» board, but there we'll manage a public and diversified portfolio of penny stocks (which starts with just $10,000 and is reset every year). Subscribers will be alerted by e-mail every time there is a buy or sell recommendation.

The «Members Board» is where every Honours Members can ask a question or exchange new trading ideas and stock picks with other Honours Members and our team (it is possible for our team to expand in the future). We'll do our best not to leave unanswered messages on this new and all important board.

5. Rules of subscription

As we've always said, we don't forget the people who made donations to our website, when they were not obliged to. There were many people that made donations, and the value of their donations will value its triple in subscription fees. For example, anyone who has donated $50 without any obligation will have 3 months free of our Premium Service, this means until the end of 2005.

A donation made between now and the 30th of September will be valued as a double in subscription fees. So, if you donate $300 until the 30th of September you'll get one year of our Premium Service. If you donate $150 now you'll get 6 months of Premium Service, that is, until the 31st of March 2006.

All registered users who make donations will turn into Honours Members and automatically access the Premium content of the website as long as the «donation value» permits. Before the «donation value» ends you'll be notified by e-mail to start an automatic monthly payment using Pay Pal (you can turn it off whenever you please).

Starting October 1, the premium areas of the website will only be accessible to our dear subscribers. The price of the service will be $49.95 per month (every subscriber will receive a T-Shirt from 3 Stocks on Fire when he makes his first payment - $49.95 is the cost of making 2 trades per month considering average brokerage fees. I think the service is worth this and possibly much more. Sometimes our trades show a loss and we still have to pay brokerage fees, but I assure you every month spent with 3 Stocks on Fire will be a profitable month, at least in terms of acquiring financial markets knowledge and we'll do our best to help you growing your equity month after month.)

6. Final message

The stock market is a hard game to win. Every time we think we have the key to success there comes another psychological barrier to take us down. The learning process is long and painful. In my 10 year trading career and more than 5000 trades executed (for years I was day trading futures) I can tell you I know about loss and victory. Every man makes mistakes (this is even truer in the stock market), it is the one who learns from his mistakes and successes that will prosper.

Everyday of my life over the past 10 years was spent looking at charts, quotes, reading dozens of books and learning everything I could about the art of speculation. The learning process had a lot of hard work and cost me a lot of time and money. I can honestly say that I am now a speculator. I'm proud of what I am, since I believe this is one of the most difficult endeavours for a man to take.

I am a speculator and I believe I can teach what I know (and what I will still learn) with clear and objective messages. More than that, you can use, if you want, my experience and knowledge to follow my explained picks and make money year over year in the stock market, following a safe and very profitable strategy as I've shown in the last couple of months with a 140% return on a diversified public portfolio (543% annualized return - but of course, don't expect this rate of return to continue for long, don't extrapolate the numbers. 50% average annual return will make anyone rich in the long term).

Besides this, the «Members Board» will be a constant brainstorm of stock market strategies and picks. There's no doubt great, great traders will be there, posting their ideas and picks, which will be analyzed by the 3 Stocks on Fire team.

As a final message, me and Ramsburg, we love the stock market. We want to go deeper into this, and want to take you with us. So come on, let's party and profit on 3 Stocks on Fire !

You can count me in as well. It's good that my donation a few days ago tripled its value. :-)

Oops, not expected that but anyway I am staying, infact have to get hold of pre-subscription prizes  :)

I see 3  very important benefits:

1. There is no free lunch. Infact free is at times not good. Hope it will add more fire to the existing 3SF.

2. Will halt transformation of this place into another yahoo MB.

3. Hope that my trading decisions will have input from 'professionals'. And that is the biggest reason for me to stay in.

I am excited about the 3 pennies portfolio [and 10k size]. Now I have portfolio to which I can relate to :)

David and Ramsburg,
It was a bit unexpected but I completely understand that your expertise deserves to be appreciated financially as well. I was just wondering how are you going to control the unsubscribed boards ? Its possible that some member could leak the member postings in the other boards, right ?

The decision to make 3SOF a subscription service was a good one, I believe!

I must admit that I've been a bit wurried about how you guys - with only 24 hours pr. day available - would be able to manage your regular work, family life, stock-picking, answaring posts on the boards - and even sleep.  ;)

So: congratulations with your new "baby".

I do also agree with stocky:

1. and 3. needs no comment.
2. It's amazing how few attempts there have been to turn this site into a "yahoo-board" - and every time the rest of the boards members, + off course David and Frederick, have been able to put a stop to it - always with nice and courteous remarks (and "smites")

I also agree with Terlisa:

$49.95 pr. month is kind of steep for us small traders.  :(

Well, I get a "free" ride for a little while, so I'll have time to see.... ;)  ;)  ;)  ;D

Good luck, guys!

David,

The subscription price is a nominal fee to access the great info you have been giving. I will be on board with you. I myself am not a full time trader and unfortunately I still have to work during the day. A couple of questions

1.At what time (USA)will you update the portfolio when you go to subscription based?
I have had to get off to work many days and was unable to access your updates early enough and lost out on some potential picks.

2.Since you will now be a registered corporation and a financial consulting website have you and Frederick considered partnering with a brokerage house to do  "auto trading ". That is, you supply the picks , with buy and sell signals, directly to the broker and if your member's have so inclined, they have you essentially manage their portfolio based on the parameters they set up(ie.. 6.66% of available $$$ in their account on each trade)Since your strategy is mostly to hold until close it might be a bigger opportunity if this service was also offered.

Looking forward to many great picks in the future

Well, $20 is less than what you pay to make just 1 trade per month. $50 is about 2 trades per month in most brokerages. We thought about a lower price, but we prefer to have less subscribers so our service is really good for everyone. Also, we've seen what other similar services cost and ours will be below average. We want to make such a good service that you'll think $49.95 is little compared to what you get. If you make a 100% profit trade on $2500 on our recommendations you'll have more than 4 years of subscription fees payed. And I bet you we'll get at least one of those picks a month, like we've done in the past ...

Thanks valueseeker, we believe this was a good way to compensate our dear supporters at the beginning of this project. This way you'll still have many months to judge our service.

Thanks stocky, you're welcome  :), I agree with all you've said. With fewer people we'll be able to really give good advice and service. We'll work about 12 hours a day on this each, me and Ramsburg. There will be no stop to searching and studying stocks, I can guarantee you that. Again, thanks for your support  :)

Yes, it is possible, but I don't think any Honours Member who made a donation or payed a subscription fee will post the premium content on the free boards. Or, maybe he will, after all Honours Members know the analysis and possibly acted on it  ;)

Thanks a lot cumulina ! We'll do our best to perform and give you a valuable service, much more than the $49.95. My education as a trader cost me a lot more than that. You're right, you have until the end of 2005 to know if the service interests you or not. Again, thanks for your support from the beginning of 3 Stocks on Fire (not just the donation, but other support, yes, I've read you on that board from Denmark defending our website ;)) and looking forward to continue working with you on this wonderful journey through the stock market.

Absolutely, Ramsburg is on his way home and he has all that data, we will send private messages to everyone with the amount donated and the exact date until the subscription fee is already paid.

Again, thanks for your support, we'll do our best to be up to the responsability.

Title: Question from atalltexan
Post by: David Randolph on August 01, 2005, 07:51:32 AM
Atalltexan wrote me this private message but I asked permission to post here because I believe some of our registered users have the same doubts:

QuoteDavid,

You have demonstrated the value of your board, and I will most certainly be a member going forward.  Noticed you mentioned about the value of prior contributions (triple), and those made between now and the end of Sept (double).  First, how will members know exactly where they currently stand (will their be a way to check your standing, when subscription ends, etc), and can we build on it (i.e. during the next month (add a year or two during the double investment period) ?

Thanks

In the next few days (possibly today), every Honours Member will receive an e-mail or private message with the amount donated and the date until the service is already paid.

Some days prior to the end date you will receive an automatic e-mail saying «you have x days to make your payment», something like that. There will be an automatic software to manage the access to content only to the people who have paid the subscription (you will be able to program pay pall to make the monthly payment and never have to worry about it again).

«and can we build on it (i.e. during the next month (add a year or two during the double investment period) ?»

Yes, imagine you have donated $50 atalltexan (Ramsburg is the one who has that data). You get the triple, that is, $150, or the month of October, November and December, 2005. To get an extra 9 months you need to donate, between now and September 30th, $225. This will value it's double, that is $450, which accounts for the nine month period.

Thanks a lot for your support !

This is an outstanding site and my knowledge of stocks, charts, trading, the markets, etc. has increased 10 fold or more!  With that said, $49.95 is not a high price to pay for such service considering the results.  We wouldn't be paying for a service with an unproven track record, the success of the investments is daily followed by all it's members and displayed on the sites' front page!  I can't even say I'm a small investor - micro investor is more like it  ;)  but I will gladly contribute for advice that I am confident will be a sound investment and will allow me to reap the rewards I seek in the marketplace.

While I have not contributed to date, I agree with Weightlifter.  Up until now, anyone that has contributed has done so with no consideration of return on their donations.  They have done so purely as a reward for what you and Ramsburg have done for them and their portfolios.  As they have rewarded you, maybe you should reward them with maybe a 10% discount off of all future enrollment fees?  Remember, it is partly because of them that you are now able to take the "next step" and make 3stocksonfire a truely valuable service to all!

Man, I can't tell you how much I appreciate what you guys are doing - including all of the great advice and posts by the sites members.  I'll just have to show my appreciation with my wallet..... ;D

dear david,
great site! hope i can take advantage of the offer. i am a very small trader just at the beginning with a tiny , tiny account ($3,000) but so far your site has been invaluable.
i will probably spend the 150 bucks for the inital subscribition fee as i have only been on this site about a week and i have learnt so much. sheeesh! i blow that that much just walking out my front door.
it will also stop this from turning this site into another disgusting yahoo board. you and your current members treat eachother with respect and integrity which i believe everyone deserves.
so much good info in such a short time will hard to pass up.
thanks so much ,
count me in

I was wondering when you guys would start charging. It was clear that you were laying a base for a successful  trading site and creating an interested and dedicated consumer following. Hey, if this fits the consumer's needs 50 bucks a month is a pittance. And if you can provide a profitable portfolio you should get paid for your time, efforts and expertise.

As for me, I have not followed your site closely enough to make a decision one way or the other. Couple of things  for me personally; I don't buy BB stocks, too difficult to get out and no depth of market, so your penny selections  would be of little use to me. I don't use Metastock, it's too expensive and complicated for my little brain, and lastly I already have enough in monthly fee payments. But seeing as I have until Oct.1 to decide I will follow you more closely and make a more informed decision. Good luck to you.

hmmmm.. $50 a month = $600 a year, would be hard for me to justify that when I'm only playing with a 5k account.. I want to get more serious and put more money in the market as I learn more, but this is probably a setback for me and many other people that are not yet in the market as serious traders and swinging the big bucks around yet...

But I do want to invest in your companies stock when its available!!!  :o

archie2...

I've been a member since late may - and I'm a scatter-brainish amateur!

I followed the investments on 3 Stocks On Fire (that is: I also invested) in the beginning, and made money!

Now for the scatter-brain part: I straied from the "3 Stocks On Fire Strategy" and began to sink money into other stocks - pretty little ones (pennies!) and promtly lost all gained plus quite some more! :(

;) I guess I'll just have to behave and stay a member!  ;)

Can't afford not to......

To follow 3SOF's progress, as you said you would, before making a commitment, seems like a fine plan.

Good luck to you too, and hope that you get convinced to get in with the rest of us.

Cheers.

I have followed the website boards pretty everyday.. The technical analysis and other investor's pick have been valuable. Sometimes I kick myself in foot for not adhering to what some expereinced investors say...Also, some personal messaging from ramsburg on couple of stocks saved me money ( when stocks tanked), I think service is justified enough for the monthly subscription asked. Count me in......

I think myself to be an idiot not to donate money earlier......another lesson to be learnt....( seed the money and reap the profits later)....I was one of the very first ones to join the website but didnt pitch in as I mostly picked the shares which were risky ones and didnt show good returns on 3 SOF.... FLYI, IFLB.OB....

So David, now I have a problem with you!  >:(
It prevented me already donating even trough I liked.

Why? Not because you want to have money for the Membership.
No! More simple - You want your cash via PAY PAL!

But, Pay Pal is choosy! Pay Pal does not like to deal with every country.

(Sorry, that has nothing to do with you, but I am facing the same problem again and again, with ebay, amazon ... and now also with 3SF.  :'(  :'(  :'(  I really ask myself how do I deserve this or better why do I have to work here, behind the moon???)

Also, I can put the $$ in a bottle and trough it in the sea (just 200m from here)...but it will take some time to reach you.
Or, I can send it via hyper-express. Just provide me the co-ordinates of the window of your flat. (South window please!!! That's important because my rocket flies a direct approach and can't turn 180 degree)  :D
Well or we can agree to the last centuries old style (conservative) method, where you provide me in a private e-mail your bank details and I send you the $$ via wire transfer.

But please, don't exclude me!

Dont take me so serious, but i hope you understand my problem  :'(

Neverthless all the best for your project

regards, andyman

My opinion of this new move is pretty simple.

3stocksonfire is the best trading resource on the web and wherever you guys go, I'll be there.

I remember my very first post(no chart?!  :D) on the INCY play which is how I heard of 3stocks: http://www.3stocksonfire.org/trading/index.php?topic=26.0  ...seems like ages ago(almost 3 months now).  During these months I have grown as a trader, more than any other time in my life.

Looking forward to discovering some new patterns and releasing some more of my research on you guys for feedback.  3stocksonfire is where the G-pattern was first released into the wild!

I'm in!

Hey stocky

we are peeping here only on stock charts!!! :D
We do not want that David's homepage will be forced in to the  .xxx domain.

At least I would get some serious problems. My internet provider has a decency filter on (called proxy). This guy is damn strict!  ;D

But somehow I can follow your idea.  ::)

David,
I'm with you. Where do I send the check for the Hedge Fund? 100K minimum ok? I think we should all meet and have a kick off party. Say, Miami...Puff Daddy's place?

By the way, Hedge Funds are much easier to set up outside the US. Less taxes and regulation.

Just a suggestion: Maybe there could be a sliding scale for membership? I would pay more for those that can't afford it. I think Saffey's really struggling, and he seems as though he's a good enough fella. ;D

I think anybody looking to escape the fees associated with some trade sites can find a new home with a simple search. Ive learned quite a bit from following some threads there http://www.elitetrader.com/     ..its free! Ads cover any website costs. I'm so sad. I'm sorry, but I am beginning to feel held up for more money than I'll be able to afford to stay with with this site that I have come to love so much. This site is just chock full of advertising, so I can't understand why $50 a month is required to maintain it. I suspect I'll get blasted for my opinions, but I certainly don't make them out of malice. I can't tell you how many times I've recommended this site to others on the various message boards I visit. I sincerely believe that a $9.95 a month subscription fee would be more than enough to keep this site up AND provide you with a nice income. This just breaks my heart...  :'(

Hi David, have you thought of limiting the number of members annually. I know it may sound crazy. But I know some sites that do it. I believe it's possible to maintain better service and sort of keeps things under better control. I thnk as well it shows a different priority, "the members". I know a bigger member list means bigger $$$ but sometimes bigger does not mean better.

Just a thought.

Love the Site

P.S. Maybe it's just me being greedy!

Hello, let me try to answer your posts on this subject:

QuoteI agree with Cumlina,,$49.95 is a bit high and also...Members who have already contributed,,should be given a "Lifetime Discount" to the subscription service...

The fact that the initial donation was counted as a triple is of much more value than a percentage discount. This way you will have more «free» time to make a decision.

QuoteI've only been on this site for 12 hours and 32 minutes and I have enjoyed and appreciated every minute. I look forward to a rewarding, educational and entertaining future with 3sof.
What I am really excited about as well are the name's I see replying to this thread that are going to stay on board.

Congrat's on taking it to the next level, this is validation for the excellent site you have created.

Thanks guy's

Thanks a lot usedcasting, we'll do our best to improve our service month after month.

QuoteThis is an outstanding site and my knowledge of stocks, charts, trading, the markets, etc. has increased 10 fold or more!  With that said, $49.95 is not a high price to pay for such service considering the results.  We wouldn't be paying for a service with an unproven track record, the success of the investments is daily followed by all it's members and displayed on the sites' front page!  I can't even say I'm a small investor - micro investor is more like it  Wink  but I will gladly contribute for advice that I am confident will be a sound investment and will allow me to reap the rewards I seek in the marketplace.

Remember, it is partly because of them that you are now able to take the "next step" and make 3stocksonfire a truly valuable service to all!

Man, I can't tell you how much I appreciate what you guys are doing - including all of the great advice and posts by the sites members.  I'll just have to show my appreciation with my wallet..... Grin

Thanks a lot basonista. A 10% discount would only be more valuable than our triple offer about 2 years from now, and this way the members who made donations have more time to evaluate the quality of the service, because most of them still have some free months ahead.

I believe it's as you say, $49.95 is little compared to what you get, and anyone who doesn't feel satisfied can cut off the payment immediately, no problem with that.

QuoteI understand your decision to make this a paid service. You guys deserve it.

Will registered membered continue to receive emails for additions to the 3SOF and the 3POF portfolios?

BadarZ

Only until 30th of September, after that only subscribers will receive the newsletter. Thank you for your kind words BadarZ  :)

Quotedear david,
great site! hope i can take advantage of the offer. i am a very small trader just at the beginning with a tiny , tiny account ($3,000) but so far your site has been invaluable.
i will probably spend the 150 bucks for the initial subscription fee as i have only been on this site about a week and i have learnt so much. sheeesh! i blow that that much just walking out my front door.
it will also stop this from turning this site into another disgusting yahoo board. you and your current members treat eachother with respect and integrity which i believe everyone deserves. so much good info in such a short time will hard to pass up.
thanks so much ,
count me in
maxi

Thank you rickjust ! We'll do our best to improve our service month after month. We're glad you've joined us through this trip for market knowledge.

QuoteI was wondering when you guys would start charging.

Archie

That's the spirit Archie, we hope we're able to meet your standards. You still have plenty of time to make a decision, and even after you make one you can always cancel it. Total transparency here. Through hard work and total dedication it is possible we get your attention and you consider our service of value to you. Thank you for your post Archie.

lol.. $50 x 500 paying members = David and Ramsburg are gonna be rich!

Great businessmen and great traders, they deserve it.. glad to see you all aren't underselling your services, but before I subscribe I'll either have to hit a 10 bagger with one of these pennies or I'll have to throw some more money into the market to justify a subscription.. We will see..

Quotehmmmm..

Shocked

Well TRUNK, if you made a donation now of $300 that would give you a full year of subscription, not $600. Anyway, with just a $5000 account I've paid in commissions more than those $600 every month  :-\ A man trades, and trades, and trades and he goes nowhere for a long time (not considering when he loses a lot, which unfortunately happens frequently). But I understand your argument, our free boards will still offer a good source of information and market knowledge, perhaps later you will be more ready to make this commitment.

If I have your attention you'll see me hard working to go deeper into stock market knowledge, sharing strategies and ways to grow a small account into a big one ... looking forward to share knowledge with you, if not on the Premium content we'll still meet on our free boards.

Thank you for your interest TRUNK, best wishes  :D

Quotearchie2...

I've been a member since late may - and I'm a scatter-brainish amateur!

I followed the investments on 3 Stocks On Fire (that is: I also invested) in the beginning, and made money!

Now for the scatter-brain part: I straied from the
"3 Stocks On Fire Strategy"
and began to sink money into other stocks - pretty little ones (pennies!) and promptly lost all gained plus quite some more! Sad

Wink I guess I'll just have to behave and stay a member!  Wink

Can't afford not to......

To follow 3SOF's progress, as you said you would, before making a commitment, seems like a fine plan.

Good luck to you too, and hope that you get convinced to get in with the rest of us.

Cheers.

Thanks for your kind words cumulina, discipline was the thing that cost me the most on the process of learning how to trade (of course, I'm still learning). If you go through my life you would see my dispair fighting against the natural human behavior of cutting profits and letting losses run. Only after taking many punches I could be totally disciplined, whatever the market circumstances.

Of course, the reward can be astronomical for the ones that know the game. My job is to make your path easier and faster. I hope I'll do a good job.

QuoteI have followed the website boards pretty everyday..

I think myself to be an idiot not to donate money earlier......another lesson to be learnt....( seed the money and reap the profits later)....I was one of the very first ones to join the website but didn't pitch in as I mostly picked the shares which were risky ones and didn't show good returns on 3 SOF.... FLYI, IFLB.OB....

Thanks dhiraj19, it is a good thing our website saved you some money. The first rule of trading is not to lose. The second rule is to not forget the first rule. Profits will come naturally if you keep your capital. Protection of capital is the most important thing in trading, if you keep learning and not lose much in the process you're making good progress.

QuoteSo David, now I have a problem with you!  Angry

Cry  Cry  Cry  I really ask myself how do I deserve this or better why do I have to work here, behind the moon???)

Also, I can put the $$ in a bottle and trough it in the sea (just 200m from here)...but it will take some time to reach you.
Or, I can send it via hyper-express. Just provide me the co-ordinates of the window of your flat. (South window please!!! That's important because my rocket flies a direct approach and can't turn 180 degree)  Cheesy
Well or we can agree to the last centuries old style (conservative) method, where you provide me in a private e-mail your bank details and I send you the $$ via wire transfer.

But please, don't exclude me!

Dont take me so serious, but i hope you understand my problem  Cry

Nevertheless all the best for your project

regards, andyman

ahahaha, great post andyman. Just send that bottle, it will arrive fine ...  :D I'll send you details to send your subscription fee to Stocks on Fire LLC account in the US, don't worry, I want you in  ;)

Thanks for your support andyman, I'm really getting encouraged by the feedback we're having, it's really amazing and I love this job !

QuoteMy opinion of this new move is pretty simple.

3stocksonfire is the best trading resource on the web and wherever you guys go, I'll be there.

I remember my very first post(no chart?!  Cheesy) on the INCY play which is how I heard of 3stocks: http://www.3stocksonfire.org/trading/index.php?topic=26.0  ...seems like ages ago(almost 3 months now).  During these months I have grown as a trader, more than any other time in my life.

Looking forward to discovering some new patterns and releasing some more of my research on you guys for feedback.  3stocksonfire is where the G-pattern was first released into the wild!

I'm in!

There are free sites and there are paid sites, loads of them out there some good many BAD :o I've been round the block a few times and seen them all (well a lot) in my opinion the 3SOF site is without equal and that is down to 1) Randolph and Ramsburg and 2) The contributing members.
The only way to improve, maintain and enhance the quality you get here is by going subscription. I trade fulltime and have various subscriptions to enable my trading business, in a short space of time 3SOF is top of my must have list. I have learnt a lot in the past couple months more than I can tell you.
If the subscription seems too much then please stay on board in the free access sections there will still be some great picks, analysis and community going on there.
I'm staying around still got more to learn, and hopefully still got more to contribute.
Plus, and most importantly I want a tee shirt ;D

If it wasn't for Dave and Ramsburg I would have no life about now.  3SOF saved my life.  I was at bottom hitting the bottle everyday and with only $100 left in my pocket.  I somehow stumbled onto this site when I was originally surfing the web for free porn.  I think i put in a search Three sluts on Fire.  And then this site popped up.  I logged on and signed up.  Next thing you know.  I am rich, off the booze and have a hot blond with big balloons.  I am living like Henry VIII.

I think that $50.  is fair for getting the %gains that have been made on the stock picks here.  How much did you spend on that college economics course? And how many times does that come into use in your life today?  I think the cost of the books alone were more than the price of membership on this site.  If you're serious about trading, than it's worth the investment.

I understand those expressing concern about the subscription but if that is what it takes to keep this site alive you can count me in. David's picks and experience is certainly worth more than the monthly fee.

But this site has become much more than even David and Fred might have envisioned when they started the site.

I really enjoy the high quality debat with input from great minds as well as small time traders. For this place to stay a lively site it is important that the free boards continue to be a place with high quality discussions and I think we all have an obligation to contribute to the free boards. After all that was where we all started.

Hi David, Ramsburg and the remaining founder team

After some initial reactions, some comments and some fun I like to summarize the different thoughts which I got while browsing through the various comments.

In respect to your idea and your effort to start this site (homepage), many of us like (aussie, stocky, cumulina, elite, JB, tommy, saffey, la-onda, Michael, setravis... oh please forgive me if I missed you out here) may feel also as first hour pioneers (irrespective if fulltime trader or part time like me who has a real job to do beside) who has given this site the initial boost.
However David & Co., we fully respect you as our scouts commanders.  8)

I think now, even through this experiment goes commercial, many of the pioneers have still the spirit to take it to a further success.  It may be even a precondition to stay successful. I agree to aussie that a subscription is sooner or later inevitable to maintain the quality standard. But not to forget, many members who invested time and own efforts to created this environment now continuing with their ideas and voluntary researches and even paying for this!!!

There is nothing wrong with this, as long everyone is happy, but I believe (if I would be David or Ramsburg) that transforms into a extra ordinary responsibility of the owners.

There will come a time where people will join with other preferences. They will be definitely different as we pioneers, and you should be prepared for this.

In fact proper policies have to be set.  Don't understand me wrong, I don't wont to dictate them. But why not using things which have been proven sound at other places.
Please have a try and look at the a homepage www.shortpicks.com. There service is also not for free, but there are committing to a very customer friendly policy, which impressed me.
I would feel the openness and willingness to contribute of the participants here at 3SF, the professional moderation with technical know how by David, Ramsburg and others and a clean policy similar there of the page mentioned above would make this to a groundbreaking venture. I believe that this is that what the customers really want and definitely will appreciate.

But what means that exact. I have a couple of observations.

There are some points more but I will limit the post for now.

Fact is that we as pioneers tolerate a lot, but payers will compare you (us) with professional services. And comparisons are often unfair. They will pick isolated issues and lamenting bold about.

Maybe you can open a topic where we can put in our ideas in this regard. If it is about some design details of the page itself or some rules and regulations, so as a brainstorming. I can offer you advices from my professional experience regarding such policies on a topic as suggested. Some may be not for public, so you can also contact me anyway via mail.

Neverthless, i hope everyone of us can benefit in either/or way from 3SF.

regards to all

andyman

Hey David & Ramsburg,
You have to do what you need to do and that is take 3SOF to the next level adding a lot more Quality to the community.

Unfortunately I cannot afford the $50 monthly fee (as of today!) but I am looking forward to making a donation (sometime in the near future). I would suggest that you consider a One Time fee/donation which would allow the contributor to become a lifetime member! This may enable you to collect some funds that may help you with your start up costs.

The best part I like about 3SOF is that it is an open forum, where trading ideas are exchanged without costs, similar to that of the OPen Software forums.

So dudes what else can I say but Invest in your Passions and Trust your Instincts. Good luck in your venture. Looking forward to picking a few shares of SOF!

And thanks for all the lessons (inclusive of members).

Starfire

PS. the UI still looks cheesy to me (grin). and i do not have access to a few pages inclusive of the 'donation' page. the probelm could be my browser or on your end. it looks like i am the only one having this problem. sigh!

There are so much that I've learned from 3SF, not just what and when to buy but when to get out.  If I have listened to your analyses to get out on time, I would be retiring already  :P

Here comes my donation for a wonderful site.

I am wondering if you can make this some kind of charity or religion so that our "donations" are tax deductible?

Hello David and Frederick,

You've got a great site!

I'm considering entering a long postion on VDWB, and would like to know what you think?

What caught my eye, is the long accumulation as seen on cmf(14), the support at 0.35, and the divergence between the price and the accumulation.
I don't know enough about the fundamental value or their product.
would like to know if you think the risk reward ratio is good here?
Thanks,

Ido Haussmann

To:  David & Frederick and all the 3StocksOnFire supporters

I just sent off my $300 donation.  Best of luck to you all and thanks for the invaluable service you have provided.  I have already made money from David's recommendations (during the last 2 weeks, even after the $300 donation!) and won't have any problem giving even more.

I look at it this way:  If you made money with 3StocksOnFire recommendations, and you weren't going to buy those stocks on your own, your gains are ONLY due to David and his supporters.

Even though you are a seasoned trader now, how much of your knowledge and wisdom have been gained from David and his supporters at 3StocksOnFire?

David and his supporters are doing something right in the world of greed and selfishness.  I lost over $1,200 in less than a month following a "mad man" James Cramer on CNBC, how unfortunate, but I chalk it up as lessons learned and now I do my own "research" before I buy.  Even David's buy recommendations are "researched" before I put my $60,000 trading dollars.

Look, David and Frederick are trying to do something they enjoy and believe in.  They have already demonstrated their intent and heart.  If you made money from his recommendation, share the wealth.  If you haven't made much, then give what you can or be willing to give ($1, $5, $10, $20/month etc.).  If you are greedy and don't want to give, don't post your justifications and try to rationalize what other sites and services are doing.

I am sure David and his team has put much thought into their "business" venture.  Heck, they got bills too, you know.  They too have their dreams, like us.

Let's all support this project launch and all benefit from the combined knowledge and experience of 3,000+ network.  I am sure David has learned from us, as we have from him.

With David and his support team being able to pursue trading FULL-TIME, 3StocksOnFire will be that much more effective, I am certain.

Life is short, let's make the best of it!  After all, we can't take any money with us when we die.

Let's support David and the 3StocksOnFire project, secure your 1 year subscription at 50% off (think of it as 50% return on your investment the moment of payment!) and give David and his support team a security of mind for the next year so they can concentrate on trading.

- John

I apologize for "overdoing" a post.

After experiencing much abuse, lies and manipulation seen at other stock trade sites and boards, 3StocksOnFire has been a breath of fresh air.

I have benefited much from David's posts/recommendations and the posts/recommendations of site supporters.  I only wish I could return the favor in the future.

Good trading!

Hi John !

Thanks a lot for your support !

I understand that you are new to our board, and  you didn't «spam» the message on purpose ;) No problem about that, I've already clean the board, and left this one here, because that's the right topic to post that message.
(There's no need to replicate posts in several topics, you just need to post on the right one ;))

Welcome aboard and thanks again !

Hi David & Ramsburg,

Can you give an update on when other payment options will be available.  I live in Bangkok, Thailand and for some reason PayPal feels too much fraud occurs in Third World countries to allow me to add funds to my account via a Non US Bank.

Although I feel there are several items you two can improve upon, overall the site is fantastic and can only get better once you two can devote more time.

Thanks for a great service and site.  :)

I don't know where to put this but JCTCF is a very micro but earnings driven lumber play on fire right now, and MVCO is a very micro but earnings driven concrete play.  Both low float, thinly traded volatile stocks with nice upside!!!!

David and Rams,

Didn't read this till now  :-[ Too little time too much to do. So, I was surprised to learn which benefits I receive for my donation. :)  Was not the intention! I also perceive $ 49,95 subscription fee per month as a very reasonable price (and I'm Dutch  ;)) and I think any real investor will or should given the quality of this site!

After all it's just a tiny % of the profits you can make through the advice on this site and what you learn from it.

Small possible improvement could be to inform what the profits are as of the beginning of a month or certain date. I.e. if I started following the 3SOF advices as of August 10th my profits would have been. It contributes to the open, fair and clear messaging this site has. And should take away any doubt anybody could have. Just an idea  ;).

For the rest, hope we all continue to make this a success and to stimulate David and Rams to continue. And I hope you will never hesitate to seek advice from your members concerning improving the working, look and feel of 3SOF.

All the best,
Amarens

That's a great idea Amarens  :) Since my goal is not just to win a lot over the long run, but to win every month too, I would like to have and show that information.

Another thing is that the percentage gain from inception only considers the closed trades, and that may prompt me to cut the 3 Stocks on Fire stocks profits short because I want and need to show performance. It would be better if performance changed with open trades too (if this was the case overall profit would be higher than the current 149%).

Since Ramsburg is having trouble developing this, I will make an Excel document to post on the last day of every month, or perhaps, everyday, a detailed report of performance.

I will work this out during the weekend, I wonder how was the average monthly performance since the 28th of April 2005 and the best and worst month. About 50% of my performance was due to one single trade, and that trade was only possible when capital was at the start ... so your challenge is fair and usefull.

Thanks a lot for the tip and the kind words Amarens  :D

I gotta hand it to David and Ramsburg. They've landed themselves a gold mine with the future of 3SOF. At 50$ per month and with about 3600 members currently. If they were able to bring in 1/3 of them which is around 1000 members. Thats 1000(12x50)= $600,000.00 in Revenue/ year - expenses which shouldn't be much depending how they plan on running the company. Websites are cheap to maintain and can be ran from home.

I fully respect the new monthly fee's and my donation is coming soon before the end of this month. With all the hard work you guys put in and the money you have made for this community, That potential $600,000.00/year or more comes well deserved. I'll be around as long as this site is active. Best of luck to everyone.

Thanks Dave and Ramsburg for this one of a kind site.

Regards,
fousc

Dave and Fred,

I have a recommendation to make about the ranking system once the premium service becomes active. I notice that people who are not honorous members have their names color coded based on their level of activity and rank. Though all honorous members are the same color and all have 5 stars. So my suggestion would be to make a color coding system among the members as well and also the amount of stars that are displayed under their name based on activity and ranking.

Just a suggestion :)

Hi, David and Ramsburg.
I'm so glad that I'm finally able to make a donation (or pay the membership).
This is my first post in 3StocksOnFire.
I've checked the site almost everyday (except 1 or 2 day) since I joined (I think it was around mid July).
I can't tell you how much I appreciate to the person who posted a message about this site on the yahoo message board. Otherwise, I wasn't able to know about this site...
Anyway, since I joined, I made pretty good return at the beginning by following your picks but I lost all of them afterwards. It took me days to make those profits but lost in few days.. I think it was because I was inexperience... I'm really new in the stock market.
I was very disappointed but I tried to encourage myself to start again.
Good thing that I didn't lose any money out of my pocket but I lost the profit I made.
I want to start again. For a month or so, I made profit 2 times more than I made before.
I've been wanted to make a donation but I was kind of afraid of what if my luck runs out after making the donation  :D..   I'm superstitious :-*.
I've learned a lot and want to learn more.
I thank you for both of you David and Ramsburg to provide this premium service and I wish you the best luck on the future of 3StocksOnFire.

Had not heard an answer. Wondered as if all the open positions are listed for non members to view then what is the main reason for paying? I understand that some message boards will not be able to be seen by non members but do not think so many will pay just for that.

Sorry for this late reply, metro.

The open positions will be available with some delay to the non members, but the links of justifications, the email alert, the trading plan, the selling alert, the trade's topic on the 3Stocks message board, etc will be available to subscribers only.

I understand that some message boards will not be able to be seen by non members but do not think so many will pay just for that.

We believe that our service is a bit different from the regular stock picking services on the web... We describe a detailed trading plan, we update our holdings everyday, we interact with our members exchanging inputs on the trades, we disclose every detail about our opinion on the portfolio positions. All this will be made on the premium message boards, and I think thats the main value of our service.
Otherwise, whoever wants to follow our picks not being a subscriber, will get delayed «blind» picks, without a trading plan, without alerts, and without everything we think is important for a trader to know when holding a position. The premium message boards will be like a command center for us and our subscribers, where personalized interaction with the members and our team happens as until now.

best regards,

The 3SOF's Diversified Portfolio is composed of common stocks traded on the AMEX, NASDAQ and NYSE (sometimes we may add OTCBB stocks). Each initial position on an individual stock has a limit of 6.66% of total capital, which means our team needs to hold 15 different stocks to be full invested, and that's the limit. The Diversified Portfolio can have long and short positions on stocks (mainly long).
