Title: TALK
Post by: D.Randolph on April 28, 2005, 06:00:26 AM
Talk American Holdings (TALK) principal activity is to provide local and long distance phone services to residential and small business customers in the United States.

The long term chart looks like this:

This is a chart with all the stock market history from TALK. We can see the all time high was $90 in February 1998. Since then the stock went down to a low of $0.9 in 2001 and is now starting to claw back up.

On the medium term, we have this:

TALK is on an uptrend now, making higher highs and higher lows. We expect this behavior to continue, so the stock will eventually make an high above $16. That limit up trendline is our primary target for the expected rise. That line today stands at $20.5.

For the short term, yesterday the stock had a white marubozu with volume above average, breaking trough a resistance level at $7.69:

Trading Plan:

1) Buy the stock at open
2) Sell with profit at the upper channel trendline
3) Admit a mistake and sell with a loss if the stock closes two days in a row below $6.91

UPDATE 1-Talk America gets competing bid from Sun Capital

NEW YORK, Sept 29 (Reuters) - Talk America Holdings Inc. (TALK.O: Quote, Profile, Research) on Friday said it received an unsolicited bid from Sun Capital Securities Group to buy the company for about $275 million, the second bid for the company this month.

Sun Capital's $9 per share cash offer represents an 11 percent premium over a competing bid privately held Cavalier Telephone & TV. That proposal called for Talk America, a telecommunications provider. to be purchased for $8.10 per share.

Talk America's deal with Cavalier Telephone & TV was expected to close in December.

With the new bid, Talk America said in a filing with securities regulators that its board would supply information to Sun Capital and participate in discussions. but it also said its board has made no determination about the bid.

Shares of Talk America rose 5 cents to $9.40 in early trade on the Nasdaq. The company's shares were trading at $6.57 prior to Cavalier's bid on September 22.
