David, what is your view on investing outside of the States. I wasn't sure. As you are well aware Japan is on Fire. One US traded stock I have done well on is JOF. Just thought I would ask.
Thanks

Good Trading all !
Hi Used casting,
Finally somebody else sees. I posted about the Nikkei last week in the board 'major indices'. Made great profits so far on the Nikkei ::). Definitely think it has some more leg.
After Koizumi winning the elections, the investment world seems to have rediscovered Japan. The combination of economical growth, increasing company profits and low inflation set the Nikkei to its highest level since September 2001. At a technical level the break through the 13000 level on September 20th was a great sign.
If I only knew how to say happy tradings in Japanese ;)

Another way to play this for a nice long term hold is in the UJPIX Profunds UltraJapan it moves 200% relative to the Nikkei. There is a minimum investment but it is a buy and hold now IMO. It is pulling back some now as it was oversold as you can see on the RSI and it was at resistance. One target is around 75 and there can see what it looks like for further gains.

Another way of playing Japan is with ETF's, specifically iShares Japan (Symbol EWJ). It has been moving up nicely in the last couple of months and is not expensive. It's right around $12 right now.
For those unfamiliar with ETF's they trade exactly like stocks so that you can trade in and out of them as you wish.
Clearly, these types of plays are for a little longer term hold but I think they are great for a balanced portfolio. All the best.
