Xechem's Orphan Drug Status Approved for Its Sickle Cell Medicine in the European Union
Tuesday October 4, 8:30 am ET
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 4, 2005--Xechem International, Inc. (OTC BB: XKEM - News) Xechem International announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, Xechem UK Ltd., has received Orphan Drug designation from the European Medicine Evaluation Agency (EMEA) for NIPRISAN (now known as NICOSAN(TM)/HEMOXIN(TM)), a phytopharmaceutical product that has shown efficacy in the treatment of Sickle Cell Disease. The designation covers all 25 countries that comprise the European Union. Similar Orphan Drug status was previously granted to Xechem by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Dr. Ramesh Pandey, Xechem's Chairman & CEO said, "Obtaining Orphan Drug status for our Sickle Cell Disease product in both the European Union and the United States brings to Xechem substantial advantages and incentives which will help facilitate approval of the drug and make it easier for us to bring this important medicine to market. To have received these coveted designations from both the FDA and EMEA for a natural, herb-based product such as ours is particularly gratifying."
Significance of Orphan Drug Designation
The EMEA regulation on orphan medicinal products is designed to encourage companies to develop and market treatments for rare, life threatening medical conditions that affect less than five people in every 10,000 in the EU. In addition to granting the license holder protection from direct or generic competition for a period of ten years within the EU following drug approval, orphan drug status allows for regulatory assistance, reduced regulatory fees associated with applying for marketing approval, protocol assistance and scientific advice. Similar incentives, including seven years of marketing exclusivity, tax credits, and access to potential grant funding for non-clinical and clinical research, accompany orphan drug status in the U.S.
According to Dr. Pandey, "Given the virtual lack of commercially viable treatments for SCD in the United States and the EU, the multi-year exclusivity for NICOSAN(TM)/HEMOXIN(TM) could create a significant revenue producing opportunity for Xechem."

Xechem Inc., a subsidiary of Xechem International, Inc. is primarily engaged in applying proprietary extraction, isolation, and purification technology towards the production and manufacturing of paclitaxel, AKA "Taxol," a registered trademark of Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. Paclitaxel is a revolutionary new anticancer compound used in the treatment of ovarian, breast, small cell lung cancers and AIDS related Kaposi sarcomas. Recently, Xechem has been successful in isolating pure paclitaxel, receiving a process patent on this technology. Xechem has submitted to the FDA a Drug Master File for the facility and the bulk paclitaxel product. Xechem has already been successful in the acquisition of five U.S. patents on paclitaxel, while its second generation analogs from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and over thirty-four international patents are currently pending.
In addition to their focus on the development and production of paclitaxel, Xechem is continuously applying its expertise to the research and development of other niche generic compounds. This is achieved through microbial fermentation or semi-synthesis and on the development of drugs from sources derived from Chinese, Indian and other traditional medicinal plants in the anticancer, anti-fungal, antiviral, including anti-AIDS, anti-inflammatory, anti-aging and memory enhancing areas. Many of these efforts are performed in collaboration with the National Cancer Institute and the National Institutes of Mental Health.

Xechem Expands its Arsenal for Treating Sickle Cell Disease; Licenses New Anti-Sickling Agent from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU)
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 9, 2005--
Xechem International, Inc. (OTC BB: XKEM) Xechem
International announced today that it has acquired the exclusive,
worldwide licensing rights to a new five-membered heterocyclic
anti-sickling compound from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU),
Richmond, VA. Early research has shown this anti-sickling agent to be
a highly effective and relatively non-toxic treatment for Sickle Cell
Disease (SCD). The new compound further expands Xechem's existing
portfolio of products to be used in the fight against Sickle Cell
Disease.
Previously, Xechem International successfully acquired the
exclusive worldwide license from the National Institute for
Pharmaceutical Research and Development ("NIPRD"), Ministry of Health,
Government of Nigeria, for the manufacture, marketing and distribution
of NICOSAN(TM)/HEMOXIN(TM), an all natural, phyto-pharmaceutical
product that has also shown enormous promise for SCD. Both the United
States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Union's
regulatory body have already granted to Xechem "Orphan Drug" status
for NICOSAN(TM)/HEMOXIN(TM), and the Company is currently in the
process of preparing an Investigational New Drug (IND) Application for
submission to the FDA and applicable EU agencies.
According to Xechem's Chairman and CEO, Dr. Ramesh C. Pandey, "We
know of no existing non-toxic medicines available anywhere in the
world for the effective treatment of Sickle Cell Disease. Between our
existing product, NICOSAN(TM)/HEMOXIN(TM), a non-toxic product that
has shown excellent results in Phase IIA and Phase IIB clinical trials
in Nigeria, and this promising new heterocyclic pharmaceutical agent
being developed in collaboration with VCU, Xechem will be in a truly
unique position to offer viable and efficacious treatments to patients
suffering with this painful and debilitating condition."
Professor Don Abraham of VCU says that "the five membered
heterocyclic compound (5-HMF) is the best potential antisickling agent
in 30 years research to be discovered by our research group. 5-HMF not
only is a natural product with very little if any toxicity, it has a
high affinity for hemoglobin and was very active in genetically
modified mice as shown by our colleagues, Dr. Osheiza Abdulmalik and
Professor Toshio Asakura, the Director of the NHLBI Sickle Cell
Disease Reference Laboratory at The Children's Hospital of
Philadelphia (CHOP), University of Pennsylvania. A number of us,
especially my very close colleagues at VCU, Professors Martin Safo and
Gajanan Joshi, have spent most of our lives searching for a sickle
cell drug and we are hoping that this quest is finally achieved."
Sickle Cell Disease is a genetic blood disorder caused by an
abnormality in the hemoglobin molecule. Patients with this disease
often produce stiff, abnormally shaped cells that do not flow freely
through blood vessels, creating clogs in the vessels, which in turn
cut off the flow of normal hemoglobin and oxygen to the body. In
Nigeria alone, more than 25% of the population are carriers of the SCD
trait and over 4.5 million Nigerians (approximately 5% of the
population) are actually afflicted with the disease. Approximately 12
million people, mostly in sub-Saharan Africa, are believed to suffer
from this disease worldwide.
Looks really strong here!
Very, very strong! Highest volume since October. Go XKEM.
A strong finish today could set us up for a gap on Monday. I hope.

Xechem Settles Antitrust Lawsuit Against Bristol-Meyers Squibb for $4.2 Million
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 20, 2005--
Xechem International, Inc. (OTC BB: XKEM) Xechem
International announced today that it has settled its antitrust
lawsuit against Bristol-Meyers Squibb Co. for $4.2 million. Court
files reveal that the case against Bristol-Meyers, which was brought
in federal district court in Chicago in 2003, was based on Xechem's
allegations that Bristol-Meyers had engaged in anticompetitive
practices relating to Xechem's efforts to manufacture and bring to
market the drug paclitaxel, a generic equivalent of Bristol's cancer
drug, TAXOL(R). Similar allegations against Bristol had previously
been raised in lawsuits brought by other generic drug companies which
settled out of court. Bristol-Meyers has not admitted to any
wrongdoing as part of the settlement. (For more information regarding
the settlement, please refer to the Company's Form 8-K of public
record.)
Settlement Proceeds Will Further Xechem's Efforts to Launch Sickle
Cell Drug
According to Dr. Ramesh C. Pandey, Xechem's chairman and CEO, the
timing of the settlement was as important to Xechem as the dollars
involved: "The settlement with Bristol-Meyers could not have come at a
better time for Xechem. As people who have been following our company
are aware, we have been working on the development of
NICOSAN(TM)/HEMOXIN(TM), a promising drug to be used in the treatment
of Sickle Cell Disease, a devastating disease that afflicts millions
of people worldwide, mostly in Africa, Greece, Turkey, Italy, the
Arabian Peninsula, India and Latin America, including South America,
Central America and parts of the Caribbean. We hope to bring
NICOSAN(TM) to the Nigerian market in early 2006, and at the same
time, embark on the clinical trials in the US hospitals for FDA
approval through a New Drug Application (NDA) for sale of the drug in
the United States. Xechem has already received Orphan Drug Designation
for NICOSAN(TM) from the US-FDA, which gives Xechem seven years of
marketing exclusivity in the USA. The money from the Bristol
settlement will go a long way to realizing the goal of bringing this
important drug to market." According to Dr. Pandey, the settlement,
which is still being documented, should be completed by year end and
the funds made available to Xechem shortly thereafter.
It just may.....
I think it is +25.00% in the pre-market
Based on the charts on XKEM, it is poised to finish monday above a penny, as stong accumulation has been going on, as well as massive selling. People got frightened when it dipped to 0066 on friday... But this one should finish monday above a penny, and over 2 pennies by valentines day.
If you are one of the ones who sold on friday, you will be kicking yourself by the end of the day monday... This one is going to be a nice run. Those whom are still in, enjoy the run coming.. it may run all week long.
In the morning, it may dip a tiny bit more, and then the massive buys will come, and KBOOM!!

Agreed.... I am going in on this one myself today! Chart scan is popping up everywhere too.
why this big sell-off lately?

Yea, raging bull. Its called reading charts, playing momentum. The stock XKEM went up 20% today, and then fell back on profit taking. It is going back up again tomorrow.
If you are interested in learning how to read charts, I would gladly offer you my help.

why this big sell-off lately?
The sell off was the MMs bringing the stock down so that they can accumulate as many cheap shares as they can.. Now they are bringing the price up.. They control the show.
allright,
my apologies...for calling it pumping
it turned out to be a great pick, Vipyr!
When I buy something in a dip, it always dips lower -
any help with reading charts is very appreciated.
Let other dip picks coming...
No problem.. Xkem has had a nice 2 days running... I dont like the chart for tomorrow, we might have some more gains, but I expect a small sell off, before it climbs again.. I could be wrong, just not getting possitives from the chart.. Im disappointed that it has not reached back over a penny yet, but the day is coming, and soon. Im still thinking 02 by valentines day..
It's a short term sell at $.028. But that is HUGE gain from here.
I am a long term investor of this company, as well as a financier. Hemoxin/Nicosan is going to be a very BIG product in the near future.
In the BOOM of 2000 XKEM traded at $5.00 and it could easily eclipse that figure in the next 2 years. If you want to support a nest egg, this may very well be the stock to do it in.
previously, I supported a stock callled SBAC @ $.37. It went to $18 in 4 years. I invest in pennies with huge potential. Sometimes I get burned.... see MRXT.pk, other times it's stellar.
High Risk === Massive rewards.
cheers,
SJ
Did anyone catch the sell at .081 instead of .0081 ouch that had to hurt the person buying. Gotta watch them decimals guys :'(
today is good day to observe a 15% gain....
watch the range on this stock... trading on no news.
$.0065 a very strong buy....
sell at $.0085. Volume is triggering volatility.
cheers,

ps. this could easily jump back to $.02 on spikes in interest. accumulation currently going on.

Hey this thing has good chart look.
And here's what I'm talking about... volume interest on the buy side is gooing to boost this stock past $.02. no news trading.
What would happen if 5,000 people suddenly dumped orders on for say 500,000 shares apiece?
This would take off fast as other traders saw the activity and would wonder why the interest.
someone at $.01 could easily sell at $.04.

HEMOXIN™/NICOSAN™ (Sickle Cell Disease, SCD)
In July, 2002, Xechem acquired an exclusive, worldwide license to develop NICOSAN™ (HEMOXIN™ in the US) from the Nigerian government and, subsequently, received U.S. orphan drug status for HEMOXIN™ from the FDA in August, 2003. The product is made from four botanical species indigenous to Nigeria. NICOSAN™ is produced there today by Xechem. The Company expects to launch NICOSAN™ in Nigeria's 4,000,000 SCD patient market, the world's largest SCD market, in 2005. SCD, a devastating hereditary blood disorder characterized by acute painful crisis, organ damage, anemia and early death, affects over 80,000 African Americans in the U.S. alone. Based on published data and human experience, the Company believes the successful clinical development of HEMOXIN™ represents an unusually low risk. In phase II human studies in Nigeria, published in Phytomedecine, HEMOXIN™ was shown to be safe in all patients and effective in approximately 80% of patients. As published in the May 2003 issue of the British Journal of Hematology, Asakura and colleagues from Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the University of Pennsylvania demonstrated the anti-sickling effects of HEMOXIN™ in transgenic mice. This lends significant credibility to the Nigerian human experience to initiate clinical trials in the U.S.
PAXETOL™ Brand of Paclitaxel
Currently, our PAXETOL™ brand of paclitaxel for injection is being prepared for marketing, via strategic manufacturing, distribution, sales and alliances in Domestic and International markets
On June 3, 1996, Xechem announced the findings of a comparison study between TAXOL™ (a registered trademark of Bristol-Myers Squibb) and PAXETOL™ for antitumor activity in vitro and in vivo.
Proprietary Drugs
Our expertise in drug development started with our first project: the successful launch of vancomycin in a remarkably short time - within 3 and 1/2 years, from culture in the test tube through final active drug substance to the finished dosage form marketed with FDA approval. This occurred when Xechem was affiliated with the LyphoMed Pharmaceutical Company.
An emphasis is now on our PAXETOL™ brand of paclitaxel for treating refractory ovarian and breast cancer.
Generic Drugs
The generic drugs produced include:
Vancomycin
Paclitaxel (PAXETOL™)
Bleomycin
450 million shares Volume last 3 days...Something big is coming IMO... We now have 3 generic cancer drugs... Paclitaxel (PAXETOL™) alone could make this company...
When I had cancer I took Bleomycin, but I believe it wasn't the generic form... but the gemeric form will save healthcare so much money...and now we have rights to Paclitaxel (PAXETOL™)...that will cut into Bristol-Myers profits... I wouldn't be surprised to see a buyout in the works...GLTY

Stockguru.com: Guru Alert for Wednesday, March 1, 2006, XKEM
Wednesday, March 01, 2006 03:36 ET
Dallas, Texas, Mar 01, 2006 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- Stock Guru Alert for Wednesday Xechem International, Inc. (OTCBB:XKEM)
Xechem International, Inc. (OTCBB:XKEM) closed down at 4.58%, trading 84,950,250 shares on Tuesday.
Xechem International, Inc. is a development stage biopharmaceutical company focusing on anticancer, antiviral (including AIDS), antifungal, Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), antimalarial and antibacterial products from natural sources, including microbial and marine organisms. Xechem's mission is to bring relief to the millions of people who suffer from these diseases. Its focus is on the development of phyto-pharmaceuticals and other proprietary technologies, including those used in the treatment of orphan diseases. Its primary attention and resources are currently being directed toward the development and commercial launch of its Sickle Cell drug, NICOSAN(TM)/HEMOXIN(TM), which has shown efficacy in the treatment of SCD.
This is a historic day for Xechem International and its lead product NICOSAN(TM)/HEMOXIN(TM). We are extremely excited about our strategic alliance with Alembic, a well-established pharmaceutical company in India. Alembic's financial, technical and distribution strength will accelerate our ability to successfully launch NICOSAN(TM)/HEMOXIN(TM) first in Nigeria and surrounding countries where such conditions are a national priority, followed by the USA, Europe, Latin America, and Asian countries. Alembic's faith in Xechem and its technology validates our excitement about the product, and our immediate opportunity in Africa. We believe this will accelerate our drive toward clinical trials of NICOSAN(TM)/HEMOXIN(TM) in the United States."
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the USA has granted the orphan drug status to HEMOXIN(TM), and when appropriate FDA regulatory approval is attained, after the US clinical trials, the sales will start immediately. Xechem has agreed to use its best efforts to provide a board seat to designee from Alembic, subject to Alembic's fulfillment of its obligations.
The European Medicine Evaluation Agency has approved orphan drug status for the phytomedicine niprisan in the treatment of sickle cell disease; Germany's Federal Institute for Drugs and Devices has approved modafinil tablets for the treatment of moderate to severe chronic shift work sleep disorder; and Costa Rica's Ministry of Health has approved a hyaluronic acid–based gel for the management of exuding or debrided wounds.
Orphan Drug Niprisan (Nicosan/Hemoxin) for Sickle Cell Disease in EU
The European Medicine Evaluation Agency (EMEA) approved orphan drug status for the phytomedicine niprisan (Nicosan/Hemoxin, made by Xechem International, Inc.) for the treatment of sickle cell disease (SCD).
Niprisan is an ethanol/water extract of Piper guineenses seeds, Pterocapus osum stem, Eugenia caryophyllum fruit, and Sorghum bicolor leaves.
The approval was based in part on data from a phase 2b, placebo-controlled, double-blind crossover study in 82 Nigerian patients. The data showed that treatment with niprisan significantly reduced the frequency of SCD crises associated with severe pain during a six-month period (P < .01). Moreover, 73% of patients achieved complete remission.
Niprisan did not appear to cause acute hepatic toxicity, as assessed by liver enzyme activity; evaluation of serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen levels suggested that renal function also remained normal. No serious adverse events were reported.
Niprisan (Hemoxin) was previously granted orphan drug status for this indication by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in March 2006.
Modafinil (Vigil) to Treat Chronic Shift Work Sleep Disorder in Germany
The Germany's Federal Institute for Drugs and Devices approved modafinil (Vigil tablets, made by Cephalon, Inc.) for the treatment of moderate to severe chronic shift work sleep disorder with excessive sleepiness in patients working night shifts who have not responded adequately to sleep hygiene measures.
The approval was based on data from a double-blind, 12-week study in 209 patients showing that nightly treatment with 200 mg of modafinil increased sleep latency from baseline (1.7 ± 0.4 vs 0.3 ± 0.3 minutes; P = .002) and improved clinical symptoms in a greater proportion of patients (74% vs 36%; P < .001) compared with placebo.
Modafinil-treated patients also experienced a decrease from baseline in the frequency and duration of attention lapses during nighttime testing, contrasting with the increase observed among those receiving placebo (Psychomotor Vigilance Test score, –2.6 vs 3.8; P < .001).
In addition, patients receiving modafinil therapy reported fewer accidents or near misses while driving home from work compared with those receiving placebo (29% vs 54%; P < .001).
The most commonly reported adverse events associated with modafinil therapy were headache (25%) and nausea (9%). Treatment did not adversely affect daytime sleep compared with placebo.
Although 200 mg of modafinil reduced the extreme sleepiness of chronic shift work sleep disorder and resulted in small but significant improvements in performance compared with placebo, patients continued to have residual sleepiness and impaired performance at night. This finding suggests that the therapy is not completely effective and underscores the need for development of more effective interventions.
Modafinil tablets were previously approved for this indication by the U.K. Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Other approved indications for modafinil in Germany include narcolepsy and moderately severe to severe obstructive sleep apnea with excessive daytime sleepiness despite nocturnal continuous positive airway pressure. Modafinil tablets are also approved by the FDA to improve wakefulness in patients with excessive sleepiness associated with narcolepsy and obstructive sleep apnea/hypopnea syndrome.
Hyaluronic Acid Gel (IPM Wound Gel) for Healing Ulcers and Debrided Wounds in Costa Rica
The Republic of Costa Rica's Ministry of Health approved a hyaluronic acid (HA)–based gel (IPM Wound Gel, made by LAM Pharmaceutical Corp. and distributed by aQva Pharmaceuticals, Inc.) for the management of exuding (such as leg, pressure, and diabetic ulcers) and debrided wounds. The product is also available without a prescription for use on minor abrasions and cuts.
The clear and odorless aqueous gel is composed mainly of sodium hyaluronate, a purified derivative salt of HA obtained from avian sources. Unlike other glycosaminoglycans such as chondroitin or chondroitin sulfate, HA is not immunogenic.
According to a company news release, wounds containing high concentrations of HA heal rapidly with little scarring. The effect is thought to be due to the molecule's ability to serve as a transportation system between the epidermal and dermal skin layers, allowing increased efficiency in the process of wound healing (inflammatory cell migration, fibroblast cell migration, cytokine migration, and epithelial cell migration).
The approval was based on the results of a study in 27 patients with 53 nonhealing ulcers of at least one month's duration (mean, 25.34 weeks). In the study, treatment was well tolerated and 89% of ulcers were healed at four months.
The HA-based gel was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the Ecuadorian Ministry of Health, and the Panamanian Ministry of Health in April 2002, March 2005, and September 2005, respectively

XKEM: Obasanjo to launch locally produced sickle cell drug
3-3-06
President Olusegun Obasanjo will by June launch NIPRISAN (HEMOXIN(TM)), the locally produced drug for sickle cell disorder.
The president will also use the occasion to commission Xechem International Inc. factory in the country in a move seen as a landmark investment in Nigeria. The company owns the exclusive rights to NIPRISAN
The drug NIPRISAN (HEMOXIN(TM), which is at present, undergoing final stage of registration with NAFDAC is a phyto-pharmaceutical drug for the treatment of patients suffering from Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). SCD is an insidious and painful genetic blood disorder often resulting in death at an early age.
Science and Technology Minister, Turner Isoun who disclosed this in Abuja noted that location of the factory in Nigeria would further crash the price of sickle cell drugs in Nigeria.
Isoun stated that Niprisan (HEMOXIN(TM)) was a drug cocktail, with phyto-pharmaceutical composition of four traditional plants extracted in a proprietary process. The licensor of the technology is the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD) in Abuja, Nigeria.
Nigeria is said to have the highest sickle cell disease population in the world ranging from four to six million representing roughly three to five percent of the country's population.
Isoun spoke at the inaugural meeting of the Ministers' Council for the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA) where he also called on the government to involve more laboratories for the control and analysis of the bird flu menace.
On the situation of bio technology in Nigeria, he called on the stockholding agencies to ensure that Nigeria benefits from the judicious and safe use of modern biotechnology.
"Biotech is a gold mine and important to this nation. Almost every Nigerian is affected by the operations of biotech. To be able to achieve all these, we will require the concerted political will and a focused leadership drive. It is therefore the collective responsibility of all of us key stakeholders of modern biotechnology to join forces in realizing this vision.
It is my belief that this collective mission will not jeopardize our separate mandates but will promote the effective coordination of our effort towards achieving the same ultimate goal."
To achieve the nation's targets in biotech, the Director General of the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA), Bamidele Solomon called for the establishment of biotechnology development fund.
The fund, he stressed, could help the nation support competent researches and be ready to tackle problems like the bird flu.
He also disclosed that Nigeria in collaboration with Trinity Biotech of the Republic of Ireland will establish a facility at SHESTCO Abuja for the production of test kits for HIV/AIDS and other diseases like HB, malaria and so on.
He added that the Federal Government has approved the sum of $28 million as counterpart commitment for the project.
He also spoke of Nigeria's collaboration with Shantha Biotechnics Limited of India for the establishment a facility for the production of Hepatitis B vaccine and other vaccines for related diseases like typhoid, polio, DTP and related ailments.
"Government approved the sum of N10 Million in the 2004 capital budget to support carrying out of a detailed feasibility study and fulfilling other MoU requirement."

Major breakthrough in fight against sickle cell disease
by HERB BOYD
Special to the AmNews
Originally posted 1/4/2006
With two recent victories under its belt, there is reason for optimism at Xechem, a development stage biopharmaceutical company that has been working diligently to produce and market a drug to fight against Sickle Cell Disease (SCD).
Recently, Xechem International announced that it had acquired the exclusive, worldwide licensing rights to a new five-membered heterocyclic anti-sickling compound from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). "Early research has shown this anti-sickling agent to be highly effective and a relatively non-toxic treatment for Sickle Cell Disease," a press release from Xechem said. This new compound, the company stated, will further expand Xechem's portfolio of products in its fight against this disease that is so common among Africans and African Americans.
Acquiring this compound bolsters Xechem's portfolio, which already includes a license from the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Development, Ministry of Health, Government of Nigeria, for the manufacture, marketing, and distribution of NICOSAN/HEMOXIN, an all natural, phyto-pharmaceutical product that has also shown enormous promise for SCD, according to Xechem.
NICOSAN/HEMOXIN has been granted an "Orphan Drug" status by both the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the European Union's regulatory body. The company is currently preparing an Investigational New Drug (IND) application for submission to the FDA and EU agencies.
''We know of no existing non-toxic medicines available anywhere in the world for the effective treatment of Sickle Cell Disease," said Dr. Ramesh C. Pandey, Xechem's Chairman and CEO. "Between our existing product, NICOSAN™/HEMOXIN™, a non-toxic product that has shown excellent results in Phase IIA and Phase IIB clinical trials in Nigeria, and this promising new heterocyclic pharmaceutical agent being developed in collaboration with VCU, Xechem will be in a truly unique position to offer viable and efficacious treatments to patients suffering with this painful and debilitating condition."
Along with the acquisition of the VCU licensing agreement, last week Xechem announced it had settled its anti-trust lawsuit against Bristol-Myers Squibb Company for $4.2 million. The lawsuit, filed two years ago, stemmed from Xechem's allegations that Bristol Myers "had engaged in anti-competitive practices relating to Xechem's efforts to manufacture and bring to market the drug paclitaxel, a generic equivalent to Bristol's cancer drug, TAXOL ®."
The settlement, according to Dr. Pandey, will further his company's plans to launch its sickle cell drug. "The settlement with Bristol Myers could not have come at a better time for Xechem," he said.
Dr. Pandey has a distinguished career in the biomedical sciences spanning over 35 years and has served with numerous universities, government agencies and pharmaceutical companies worldwide. He came to the United States from India in 1967 with a Ph.D. in medicinal chemistry and spent three post-doctorate years at the University of Illinois-Champaign Urbana, IL with Professor Kenneth L. Rinehart, Jr.

Sickle Cell Disease is a genetic blood disorder caused by an abnormality in the hemoglobin molecule. Patients with this disease often produce stiff, abnormally shaped cells that do not flow freely through blood vessels, creating clogs in the vessels, which in turn cut off the flow of normal hemoglobin and oxygen to the body. In Nigeria alone, according to a mini-documentary produced for Xechem by DDO Group LLC Harlem Edit, more than 25% of the population are carriers of the SCD trait and over 4.5 million Nigerians (~5% of the population) are actually afflicted with the disease. Approximately 12 million people, mostly in sub-Saharan Africa, are believed to suffer from this disease worldwide.

I was fortunate enough to pick up 200k shares on the pullback to .0125 in the IRA, and this is going to be my first penny to take a chance and just leave it alone. Sickle cell anmeia is a dreadful disease, and there isn't much out there to my understanding to help in terms of drugs. I may buy other shares on pull backs and trade them, but I am going to see if this can "go the distance" I may regret it, but I always talk about taking a chance long on one of these pennies, and this seems as good as any.
A bad day for XKEM........ :-\ :-\ :-\

Need to remember this chart is being made by the Market makers. This is heavily manipulated and unfortunately not going to be in our favor until a positive pr is out. Probably see some kind of run/close to .021ish tomorrow after a savage intraday beating IMO. My personal account has been decimated by ARCA on this. I read somewhere the pr won't be out until Tuesday. I have no idea if this is true or not. I am hoping they are not bringing this so low that it will only run it up for me to the point of a small profit. Anything on buyins and with arca being the ax does not equal a safe play at all. This is eerily familiar of CKEI GWGO JKRI USXP.... the list goes on and on.

Xechem Files Orphan Drug Application with the FDA For The Anti-Sickling Compound Licensed From Virginia Commonwealth University
Tuesday March 14, 6:30 am ET
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 14, 2006--Xechem International, Inc. (OTC BB: XKEM - News) Xechem International announced today that it has submitted its Orphan Drug Application for the five-membered heterocyclic anti-sickling compound known as 5-HMF to the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Research Shows Efficacy of 5-HMF
As reported on December 9, 2005, this promising compound has shown excellent biological activity in preliminary testing as an anti-sickling agent. This was discovered by Prof. Donald Abraham and his team of scientists from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), Richmond, VA in collaboration with a team of doctors and scientists at NHLBI Sickle Cell Disease Reference Laboratory at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), University of Pennsylvania led by Professor Toshio Asakura. Xechem has acquired the exclusive, worldwide rights from VCU for the production, sales and marketing of 5-HMF for use in the battle against SCD.
Research has shown that the 5-HMF compound is not only a natural product with very little if any toxicity, it also appears to be an effective anti-sickling agent which has shown high affinity for hemoglobin and is very active in genetically modified transgenic (Tg) mice. Professor Abraham of VCU has characterized this compound as "the best potential antisickling agent in 30 years research to be discovered by (VCU's) research group." See Xechem's December 9, 2005 Press Release.
If granted, Orphan Drug status will afford Xechem seven years of marketing exclusivity for the drug once the drug is ultimately approved by the FDA, and will offer Xechem tax credits, filing fee waivers and certain other statutory benefits.
5-HMF Complements Xechem's Existing Arsenal for Treatment of Sickle Cell Disease
According to Xechem's Chairman and CEO, Dr. Ramesh C. Pandey, "This new compound licensed from VCU represents the latest effort undertaken by Xechem in the fight against Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), and adds to Xechem's existing arsenal of NICOSAN(TM)/HEMOXIN(TM), an all natural, phyto-pharmaceutical product that has shown enormous promise for SCD sufferers. NICOSAN(TM)/HEMOXIN(TM) has already been designated as an Orphan Drug both in the United States and in European Union countries. It was acquired under an exclusive worldwide license from the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD), Ministry of Health, Government of Nigeria, Between the progress we have been making in bringing NICOSAN(TM) to market, and this exciting new heterocyclic pharmaceutical agent being developed in collaboration with VCU, we expect Xechem to be front and center in eventually offering the most viable and efficacious treatments to patients suffering with SCD around the world." Dr. Pandey added that the Company intends shortly to prepare and file an Investigational New Drug (IND) Application for submission to the FDA for both HEMOXIN(TM) and 5-HMF.
About Sickle Cell Disease
Sickle Cell Disease is a genetic blood disorder caused by an abnormality in the hemoglobin molecule. Patients with this disease often produce stiff, abnormally shaped cells that do not flow freely through blood vessels, creating clogs in the vessels, which in turn cut off the flow of normal hemoglobin and oxygen to the body. In Nigeria alone, more than 25% of the population are carriers of the SCD trait and over 4.5 million Nigerians (about 5% of the population) are actually afflicted with the disease. Approximately 15 million people, mostly in sub-Saharan Africa, are believed to suffer from this disease worldwide.

took profits after the gap...looking for a new entry... news wasn't all I expected but will look for new entry...Great things are coming soon...GLTA
Hi Gateway et al. I've been wondering if SouthEnd Stock Pickers & other promoters are still unwinding their position in XKEM since the big run up, with the assumption that no significant news is in the offing near term ? XKEM has dropped -50% since the Mar 6th high despite additional good news.
The fact that the company's market cap of $7.2M is a trifle compared to potential long term market revs of +$500M in Nigeria according to company estimates for the lead Nicosan Sickle Cell Disease drug. Perhaps the word that production won't likely start until June (but possibly sooner) has pulled a lot of traders off to the sideline ?
Dr. Pandey, the CEO will be giving a speech at an Anti-Malarial drug conference in Africa on 3/21 but that doesn't in itself suggest any specific news would be generated out of that.
The company has several MD's & Ph'D's on staff; all with laudable career status. 450M shares outstanding, recent lawsuit win over Bristol Myers Squibb giving them $4.2M cash which allowed them to reacquire remaining interest in Nicosan from Alembic while retaining distribution rights worldwide. Paclitaxel now on the second burner and it could get white hot soon too.
Recent deal w/VCU on new heterocyclic getting Orphan Status for SCD makes XKEM the de facto leader in SCD worldwide. Production facility built, tons of raw product ready for processing into new Nicosan drug.
All the above and an extremely low market cap on a heavily shorted stock (still on the SHO's list) with great potential and endorsed by the President of Nigeria looks like a set up for a scorching stock by early summer if not early spring !
I'm not one to buy & hold penny stocks, but this one looks as tempting as any I've seen in a long while.
Your thoughts are welcomed....
I am just waiting for an new entry...I think it could go lower with not much news expected near term...Xkem at malaria conf. in Africa next week 21st...
so, it seems, this drub has been a long time coming, but if approved by the FDA, it could really move. but, one thing i dont' quite get, it's a 7 million dollar company, how do they pay for research? or do they wait for a college professor, who makes 60k/year to find something and then go in a shower him w/ "royalties to come"?
i'll keep this one on the radar....
xkem is really a holding company which outsources the research. It's budget therefore is small relative to biotechs in general... It funds itself mostly by private investors and debt to equity offerings.
They will receive a huge profit from Hemoxin/nicosan. the restrucutring of it's financial obligations to Alembic are extremely beneficial to Xechem.
cheers,
SJ
$10 pps in 2 years from this point.
Sir Joke: I agree. Unfortunately there are still more daytraders in/out of stock on daily basis than long term investors.
This stock should show a sustained upward move like XSNX but for some reason it's not.
Imagine for a moment: It would take only 450 long term investors to buy the entire float for under $8M ! If I could, I'd buy it all myself.
Obviously the SHO list of naked shorts means there is a artificially larger float, but based on what ?
What unforeseen negative news gives these shorts the balls to short it when the President of Nigeria already endorses the drug and their main source of financing took out warrants at over 10X current share price ?

I think thats how it goes. Anyway, there is always more money made seeing something happen before it does. Feels better than chasing.
You just never know if companies with potential will make it, but there seems to be a lot of smoke here, and I am hoping to see some fire in the near future. This is another one of those that might be a good idea to just conveniently forget that you have, and check up on it in a few years.

and the changing investment climate in that country. We are
extremely gratified that we can now embark on our much needed
expansion, and are particularly excited that we can do so with
locally generated funds from a respected and reputable local bank."
The Chairman of NEXIM Bank, who is also Deputy Governor of Central

Xechem Receives Orphan Drug Designation From The FDA For Its Anti-Sickling Drug 5-HMF
Tuesday June 6, 6:30 am ET
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 6, 2006--Xechem International, Inc. (OTC BB: XKEM - News) Xechem International announced today that it has received Orphan Drug designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Office of Orphan Drug Products Development, for the five-membered heterocyclic anti-sickling compound known as 5-HMF for the treatment of patients suffering from sickle cell disease (SCD).
Research led by Dr. Donald Abraham of Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) has shown 5-HMF to be "the best potential anti-sickling agent in 30 years of sickle cell research", performed by his group. 5-HMF not only is a natural product with very little, if any, toxicity, but it has a high affinity for sickle cell hemoglobin. It is also very active in genetically modified mice as shown by Dr. Toshio Asakura, Director, and his colleagues at the NIH-NHLBI Sickle Cell Disease Reference Laboratory at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, University of Pennsylvania.
According to Xechem's Chairman and CEO, Dr. Ramesh Pandey, "We are pleased with the FDA's decision granting Orphan Drug Designation to 5-HMF. This puts Xechem into a unique position where the company will have two drugs in the pipeline for treating patients with sickle cell disease. 5-HMF is a new type of drug that interacts specifically with intracellular hemoglobin without interacting with other proteins in the body. Today there are no non-toxic drugs available on the market to treat SCD. We are actively proceeding with our first drug (NICOSAN(TM)) in the hope of bringing it to the Nigerian market immediately following Nigerian regulatory approval. We are also preparing the Investigational New Drug (IND) application for 5-HMF for submission to the FDA in the coming months."
About Orphan Drug Designation
Orphan Drug status entitles a company to various incentives including the waiver of Regulatory Filing fees, access to potential grant funding for non-clinical and clinical research to generate required data for marketing approval, and seven years of marketing exclusivity for a designated drug once approved by the FDA. (Orphan diseases are generally defined as those afflicting less than 200,000 people in the US.)
About Sickle Cell Disease
Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder caused by an abnormality in the hemoglobin molecule. Patients with this disease often produce stiff, abnormally shaped red blood cells that sometimes do not flow freely through blood vessels. This can create clogs in the vessels, which in turn cuts off the flow of normal hemoglobin and oxygen to parts of the body, and can cause severe painful attacks, damage to various organs, and shortened life span. In the US, there are approximately 70-80,000 patients suffering with sickle cell disease, many of whom suffer unpredictable painful crises several times a year lasting a few hours to a week or more. In Nigeria, more than 4 million persons have the disease. Worldwide, approximately 12 million are believed to suffer from this disease.

3 cent is the last resistance than blue Sky!
We have 3 storms coming together at the same time creating the perfect storm.... there are other things involved, such
as stock pick sites also that is adding to this scenario, plus the awaited news!!!!! 3 items creating the storm are
inverted head and shoulder pattern, golden cross(50dma crossing 200dma), and triple top breakout!!!! Just one of these things can cause a stock to burst forth, but with 3 we have created the perfect storm(triple threat)!!!Take alook

in the last run....we had the same black candle....
Definition:
The Black Spinning Top is a single candlestick pattern. Its shape is a small black body with upper and lower shadows having a greater length than the body's length.
Recognition Criteria:
1. The real body of the pattern is black and small.
2. The upper and lower shadows are longer than the real body's length.
Explanation:
The market moves higher and then sharply lower, or vice versa. It then closes above the opening price creating a black body. This represents complete indecision between the bulls and the bears. The actual length of the shadows is not important. The small body relative to the shadows is what makes the spinning top.
Important Factors:
If a Black Spinning Top is observed after a long rally or long white candlestick, this implies weakness among the bulls and it is a warning about a potential change or interruption in trend.
If a Black Spinning Top is observed after a long decline or a long black candlestick, this implies weakness among the bears and it is a warning about a potential change or interruption in trend.
Like most other single candlestick patterns, the Black Spinning Top has low reliability. It reflects only one day's trading and can be interpreted both as a continuation and a reversal pattern. This pattern must be used with other candlesticks for a better and healthier confirmation of a trend.
I don't know much about XKEM prospects, this stock seems to be highly speculative, etc... but I must say the chart is very impressive right now.
The volume is truly above normal for such a penny like this, a lot of short term traders are in and out for sure increasing the «real» volume, but even so, the volume is still suspicious... After Tuesday candlestick I was not expecting to watch XKEM breaking 0.030 again so soon.
After looking to the long term chart with weekly candles, we have a better picture of both the volume and the 0.030 barrier:
Best regards,
Breakout above 3 cent :o

"Nigeria Breaks New Grounds in Biotechnology
By Frances Ovia, 06.18.2006
Nigeria has broken new grounds in biotechnology with the production of a drug which effectively controls the sickle cell anemia.
The drug named NICOSAM would be officially launched on July 8 by the President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.
According to the Minister of Science and Technology, Prof. Turner Isoun, the drug would also be exported to other countries of the world.
According to Isoun, this would be the first time that Nigeria would be exporting a drug of such a calibre and in such a field to other nations.
Apart from NICOSAM, Isoun also stated that Nigeria is also using IT to create biodiversity. He disclosed that in Odi, Rivers State, the ministry is overseeing a process whereby 10 local farmers rear grasscutters.
He said he foresees a situation in the near future whereby grasscutter would be produced like fish or chicken.
"We are creating biodiversity," the minister said adding that initiatives such as this would provide Nigerians with more of their food needs.
Isoun, a former university teacher and editor of an international science journal, had estimated that in a matter of 15 years about half of the global economy would be based on bio-economy.
According to him, by the year 2020, any nation, which ignores its biotechnology development, may live to regret it.
"Nigeria is also endowed with enormous bioresources across its six main ecological zones (mangrove/swamp; rainforests; derived savannah; montane/plateau; savannah; and semi-arid). How do we use the new IT domain of Bioinformatics to drive the growth and development of modern Biotechnology in Nigeria? It is estimated that by 2020, 50 percent of the world economy will be bio-economy," he told a conference of IT professionals at the last conference of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS).
Isoun also said that the Neem Tree (known locally as Dongoyaro) is being processed for many uses by researchers in the country.
It had been the view of the minister at a lecture a few years after he assumed office that "The first indication that neem was being used for medical treatment was about 4,500 years ago. All the plant parts of the Neem Tree from the apex to the root are of medical importance. Today, scientific research validates the traditional uses of Neem in both the maintenance of general health and skin care. Neem is clinically proven to be anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-parasitic, analgesic and anti- inflammatory."
Biotechnology is the use of biological processes or living microorganisms in industrial production.
Before the assumption of office of Isoun as the Minister for Science and Technology, very little was known about Biotech in Nigeria. His tenure has witnessed the concentration of efforts in biotech research which had culminated in a number of pilot projects going on in several parts of the country.
Isoun had stated, while delivering a paper on "A Science Agenda from an African Perspective" at the World Summit on Sustainable Development that "Biotechnology provides technological methods for enhancing African history and endowment for improving and sustaining bioresources, including Indigenous plants used for medicinal purposes, for food and for other products of economy and social value. Biotechnology contributes to food security through increased and food crop production (improved seeds, bio-pesticides) and food processing and storage (e.g. gamma irradiation)."
Experts said that Biotechnology has great potential to address the pervasive poverty and food security problems of the developing world.
The main plank for pursuing the biotech agenda for the ministry is the National Biotechnology Policy and the establishment of the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA) which the minister established with the approval of the Federal Executive Council to be responsible for achieving the mandates of the policy in the promotion, development and coordination of biotechnology activities in the country."

She's gone parabolic!
What do you guys think? Could it be that this news about drug being produced in Nigeria is just a huge lie??
Wouldn't surprise me a bit. I make the assumption with all penny stocks that everything they say is a fabrication. I don't pay much attention to penny stock news or PR's for that reason, just the chart. I sold XKEM this afternoon. Good luck.

Gri64 - what news is expected on 6 July? Is there a conference or something that day? Thanks.

The expected news is the final approval and start of first sales in Nigeria as an article mentioned last week. That country has a huge population with sickle cell anemia.
Actually the company in their last 10-Q said they expected to start about now but they did not expect big profits right away. Obviously the people in Nigeria do not make a lot of money.
Because this situation hs been know for a long time it is hard to say why news will move the stock higher. It has made a run of about 500% and that is only since the break out at $0.015 where many got in.
They have about 1.2 billion shares outstanding now and more issued so the market cap is pretty high for a no sale company.
The idea that many have is that even though it trades 100 million shares that most investors have never heard of the company and when they hear the news of sales they will want it.
I have just been playing the charts on it and kept all until 0.075 then sold and bought back same after a couple of days as it dipped to 0.045. Sold some today over 0.009 as it was up on again 30%. Of course one would have done just fine to have held all and tons of folks have 100% invested in this. Would be great to see it go to 40 cents but taking profits on nice moves will never make you broke.

Nigerian scientists claim cure for sickle cell
By Uthman Abubakar
Since the beginning of life on earth, diseases have existed. They emerge and multiply according to environmental changes and complications over time, especially bordering on social or group conducts, physiological behaviours and sanitary conditions, in the case of humans and animals, environmental conditions, soil contents and agricultural practices, in the case of plants. There are more numerous causes of diseases than have so far been discovered. Diseases are not known until they emerge, and as they do so, scientists research into them to determine their causes and manufacture their cure. Many, perhaps most, diseases ravage life for a very long time and on a frightening scale before their cures are found. Some of such diseases have existed for ages, yet their specific cures have either not yet been found or they have just been found, but they have not been sufficiently tested and applied to determine their efficacy and safety according to the rules of medication. Such diseases prominently include Sickle Cell Anaemia or Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), which has claimed umpteen lives without any specific cure until very recently. "I also lost a very close friend and classmate to the disease when we were in the secondary school five years ago. He was the son of Justice Abdul Aboki, a judge of the Kano State High Court," Jamilu Mohammed, a resident of Garki, Abuja recalled, saying, "We used to address him simply as Daddy and I can still recall that whenever it struck him, the colour of his eyes would change to blue, he would be weak and portions of his body would develop some rashes. Some sicklers have swollen body. Daddy died at the age of 20." In the United States, it is called the African-Americans disease or poor men's disease. Every other place in the world, it is called Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) or Sickle Cell Anaemia. Sickle Cell Disease is found to be on the scale of front row serious killer ailments such as cancer and HIV/AIDS. Most sicklers, especially in most African communities, shy away from public exposure. Currently, between 14 million and 16 million people are said to be suffering from the disease worldwide. Out of this number, 10 million are in Africa, which includes the four million in Nigeria. Sickle Cell Disease, according to scientific research, is a genetic blood disorder caused by a point mutation on the globin chain of the haemoglobin molecule.
The disease causes the production of abnormal haemoglobin which contains portions that stick together after the release of oxygen. These result in the production of stiff, abnormally shaped red blood cells, which do not flow freely through the blood vessels. The sickle shaped cells create clogs in the blood vessels, which prevent the flow of normal hemoglobin and oxygen around the body. The situation results in severe pain or "crisis," ulcers, blindness, organ and tissue damage and breakdown, which eventually leads to stroke, especially in young infants, and acute chest pain. Research in the field warns that repeated crisis can also result in damage to the kidneys, lungs, bones, eyes and central nervous system. The most feared complication for children with the disease is stroke, which is said to affect infants as young as 18 months. Many children with the disease do not survive infancy or early childhood. Some scientists say patients below the age of 20 are at higher risk of death than those above that age. Adults with SCD, the research reveals, often experience a reduction in quality of life due to severe physical problems such as pain, hard-foot syndrome, acute lung complications that can result in death. Further, frequent episode of severe pain, crisis and hospital admissions, significantly affect the lives of the patients of the disease by limiting their ability to participate in normal activities. The socio-economic and psychological implications are that it consequently retards their economic and social advancement, deprives them of joy of living life to the fullest and instilling the fear of early death in them. Researches into blood groups have shown that persons in the SS blood group are both patients and carriers of the disease, those in the AS blood group are only carriers, while those in the AA blood group do not have it at all. So, in a married couple, if both the husband and wife belong to the SS group, the children they would bear would also be in the SS group, completely patients of the disease. If a member of the couple belongs to the SS group, while the other belongs to the AS group, there are higher chances that more of their children would belong to the SS. If both members of the couple belong to just AS, most of the children could be in the AS, while some could be SS members. A wholly AA group couple's children would be safe from the disease.
This situation tends to encourage blood test before marriage is contracted by a couple. Until very recently, there was no known specific drug for its cure. Every where in the world it is treated with either traditional medicines or, in the orthodox medical practice, with drugs meant for other ailments, which have some symptomatic similarities and effects with it. In the United States, for instance, a drug called Hydroxyurea (HU), used for the treatment of cancer, was also used for sickle cell disease. This drug, which is the only one approved for the treatment of the disease, is however, very expensive and found to be toxic, and patients treated with it exhibit severe side effects. So, it is said that there has not been any specific drug for the cure of sickle cell in the market, the world over. In July, 2002, Xechem International Inc., a US-based pharmaceutical company, signed an agreement with the National Institute of Pharmaceutical and Research Development (NIPRD) for the research, development, production and worldwide sales and marketing of NICOSAN, said to be the only known cure for the disease now discovered. Before then also, another known cure is said to be a bone marrow transplant to replace defective red blood cells with donor healthy cells. Under this process, treatment has generally consisted of supporting therapies, which includes folic acid, anaemia, penicillin to prevent infections pleumococcal and influenza vaccination, pain killing drugs and intravenous injection fluid. NICOSAN, according to the researchers at NIPRD, is a non-toxic herbal product composed of extracts from tropical plants, each of which is said to be indispensable in the manufacturing of the drug. It is said to have undergone clinical trials conducted in Nigeria by NIPRD and laboratory testing among others by the National Heart, Lung Blood Institute and the Sickle Cell Disease Reference Laboratory at the Children's Hospital in Philadelphia, U.S.A. Results of these trials are said to have shown that the drug drastically reduced the degree of sickle cell formation, and the frequency and severity of SCD crisis, liver and kidney functions remained normal and patients gained appreciative weight. The clinical studies showed that the drug is an efficacious phytomedicine for the management of SCD. How was the journey to the advent of NICOSAN? In August 2001, the Minister of Science and Technology, Professor Turner Isoun, had led a high profile Nigerian government delegation, comprising, among others, top government officials and scientists, to the United States to sign an agreement between Rutgers University and the Government of Nigeria in the area of Biotechnology. The delegation visited Xechem International Inc. and, consequently, invited its founding chairman and chief executive officer, Dr. Ramesh C. Pandey, for further development and the production of the drug developed by the NIPRD scientists. The drug, as developed by the NIPRD, is a natural herbal preparation coming from Nigerian folklore. Late Reverend Paul Ogunlaye, who was a pastor of the First Baptist Church in Oyo State in 1992, was said to have brought the drug in the form of a herbal recipe to the attention of the former Director General of NIPRD, Professor Charles Wambebe, and his team of researchers at the institute. The institute further researched into it with the financial backing of the Nigerian government and the World Health Organisation (WHO). The research included looking into how the folklore was doing it – mixing and grinding this and that herb, and then producing a decoction that can be given to the sicklers. In the western world, medicinal herbal preparations are called food supplements or, very recently, alternate medicine, not drugs. In China, they are called Chinese traditional medicine. "When I returned to the US and found that there is no drug for it in the market, I got more interested. Then I looked into the present population of those suffering from it in the US, and I found out that it was just between 80,000 and 90,000, who, probably, may have migrated from African countries. There population was concentrated in the US in the areas where there is malaria," Dr. Pandey revealed. In the United States, genetic and pre-birth screening is said to have drastically reduced the incidence of the disease in recent years. Apart from the over 80,000, an additional two million Americans carry the sickle cell trait. Although NIPRD had done some clinical trials – phase 1, 2A, 2B and placebo-control trials were done by Nigerian doctors and scientists, those data were not accepted overseas. To make the data and, subsequently, the drug, acceptable internationally, it is said that Xechem obtained the required Orphan Drug Designation from the US Food and Drug Authority. A similar designation was granted the company in Europe to cover all 25 countries of the European Union. Now there are five hospitals in the United States, including Children Hospital and Thomas Jefferson Hospital, both in Philadelphia, Sunny-Brooklyn Hospital in New York and Howard University Hospital in Washington DC for the application of the drug towards acceptability. NICOSAN was licensed with the government of Nigeria on 18th July, 2002. The raw materials and its sources are all said to be within the country, although future international market demand could require growing and obtaining more material from overseas. The drug may be launched as soon as the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) approves it. "We are looking into the issue of counterfeiting, but I can't tell you anything specific on that now, admitted Dr. Pandey, explaining, "First, we will make it a prescription drug. So we will know what is going on and how much of it is going out of the company. We may have some pharmaceutical stores to suggest the bulk purchasers. Counterfeiting has been brought to our attention by many people, but we are looking into how to stop it from happening to us." The researchers believe that with the advent of NICOSAN, Sickle Cell Disease may soon be removed from the class of ailments having no specific drugs to cure them anywhere. As Sickle Cell Anaemia takes its toll on the human race, the global public awaits the efficacy of this drug, its standard maintenance, the height of its safety profile, its broad spectrum capacity and its affordability to patients of the disease who, perhaps, may never have hoped for any specific cure in the near future. That is if it proves itself to be the cherished specific cure for the disease.

It's been flying since June 2! I think it's near its peak and sold the news at .109 having re-entered at .071 last week. Right now looks like a great exit point. If it goes to .15 or .20 I'll have to delete this post to hide my shame. Good luck Waxy.

HArd downmove but 0.023 $ i don´t think so!
Last 3 days we saw "sell the news" period. Is it over and XKEM ready to run again?
And does XKEM have any really reason to run again? ???
XKEM's story is great, but I don't see profit in the nearest future.
Maybe we can expect any positive news?
I sold 5 June @ 0.104 and 0.11 with a very good average profit 72%.
Unfortunately, I'm not enough disciplined and have bought yesterday 1/2 of my position @0.07 :(
And now?
What do you think?
I'd appreciate some input from you guys.
Thanks.

I currently have no position in XKEM. I'm watching for a sharp climax selloff down to around a nickel and to then play a technical bounce to .075 where it completes a head & shoulders top, then get out for good and let the suckers ride it down to 2 cents by Christmas.
News is out.....

Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo Launches Xechem's Sickle Cell Drug, NICOSAN(TM), in Nigeria
Tuesday July 11, 6:30 am ET
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 11, 2006--Xechem International, Inc. (OTC BB:XKEM - News). Xechem International joins in congratulating its subsidiary, Xechem Pharmaceuticals Nigeria, on the successful launch of its new Sickle Cell drug, NICOSAN(TM), at a ceremony held on July 6th at Xechem Park, SHESTCO Complex, Abuja, Nigeria. The launching ceremony that was presided over by Nigeria's President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, was broadcasted live throughout Nigeria. Days earlier, the drug was approved by Nigeria's drug and regulatory authority, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). Xechem has obtained the exclusive worldwide rights to manufacture, market and sell NICOSAN(TM) under a licensing agreement with Nigeria's National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD), a federal governmental agency whose scientists are credited with developing the drug.
President Obasanjo Tours Xechem Nigeria's Facilities
In remarks made at the launching ceremony, President Olusegun Obasanjo commended Xechem and its chairman, Dr. Ramesh Pandey, for their success to date in getting to the point of bringing this important drug to market and for validating the government of Nigeria's efforts to commercialize locally developed technologies: "In line with the reform agenda of this administration, the restructuring of the science, technology and innovation system has received priority attention. The re-engineering of the sector is hinged on the vision to make Nigeria a key participant and stakeholder in the application of new and emerging technologies and evolve an economy that is technology driven, private sector led and knowledge based. Today's occasion of launching of NICOSAN(TM) is an attestation that our policy is on the right course." Following the launching ceremony, President Obasanjo unveiled and toured Xechem's facilities and planted a tree on Xechem Nigeria's grounds to commemorate the occasion.
Dr. Pandey added: "We are extremely grateful to His Excellency, President Obasanjo, for making it a priority to personally launch NICOSAN(TM) and visiting Xechem's premises to mark this historic occasion. The President's participation in the ceremony reflects just how important this break-through sickle cell drug is, not only in Nigeria, but for those suffering with this debilitating disease all over the world." A gala affair attended by various ministers, high-level government officials, diplomats, and other business leaders, was held later that evening at the Abuja Sheraton Hotel in downtown Abuja.
About NICOSAN(TM)
NICOSAN(TM) is an anti-sickling "Natural Herbal Drug" developed by Nigerian Scientists at NIPRD and licensed by Xechem. In clinical studies conducted under NIPRD's auspices, the drug has shown to substantially reduce the degree of sickling of the affected red blood cells of those afflicted with the disease. While not a cure for SCD, the clinical trials have confirmed that the large majority of patients taking NICOSAN(TM) no longer experience sickle cell "crises" while on the medication, and even among those whose crises are not eliminated, the number and severity of the crises are substantially reduced.
About Sickle Cell Disease
Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is an inherited blood disorder caused by an abnormality in the hemoglobin molecule. Patients with the disease often produce stiff, abnormally shaped red blood cells that often do not flow freely through the blood vessels. This can create clogs in the vessels, which in turn cut off the flow of normal hemoglobin and oxygen to parts of the body, and can cause severe painful attacks or "crises," damage to various organs and shortened life spans. People with SCD often suffer unpredictable painful crises several times a year lasting from a few hours to a week or more. In the US, there are approximately 80,000 patients with SCD. In Nigeria, that number is believed to be approximately 4 million, and worldwide at least 12 million individuals are afflicted with SCD.
About Xechem
Xechem International is a development stage biopharmaceutical company working on anticancer, antiviral (including AIDS), antifungal, antimalarial and antibacterial products from natural sources, including microbial and marine organisms. Its focus is on the development of phyto-pharmaceuticals (natural herbal drugs) and other proprietary technologies, including those used in the treatment of orphan diseases. Xechem's mission is to bring relief to the millions of people who suffer from these diseases. Its recent focus and resources have been directed primarily toward the development and launch of NICOSAN(TM) (to be marketed as HEMOXIN(TM) in the US and Europe). With the Nigerian regulatory approval now in hand, Xechem will now turn to the commercialization of the drug in Nigeria and the pursuit of US FDA and European regulatory approval. In addition to NICOSAN(TM), Xechem is also working on another sickle cell compound, 5-HMF, which it has licensed from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Anybody thinking about short term targets yet? Even a mere 50% Fib. retracement would put us in the .0625 range, about a double for most of us who bought yesterday...
With latest 8K, OS is now confirmed at 1.2B.
Lets make it 2 Billion since we do not know how much conversion
was done, so we will take the worst case even though it will be less.
In Nigeria alone, there are 4,000,000 SCD patients.
NICOSAN™ $20/month (conservative) = $240/year
$240 x 4,000,000 SCD patients = $960,000,000 US dollars.
Let's assume at least 50% margins.
Earnings = $480,000,000
Price-Earnings Ratio - P/E Ratio
http://www.investopedia.com/terms/p/price-earningsratio.asp
The P/E is sometimes referred to as the "multiple", because it shows how much investors are willing to pay per dollar of earnings. If a company were currently trading at a multiple (P/E) of 20, the interpretation is that an investor is willing to pay $20 for $1 of current earnings.
Now lets take BRISTOL MYERS SQIBB (BMY)
BMY has a P/E of approximately 15 and a market CAP of $$$ 49 Billion $$$.
Oh yes, didn't XKEM just win a 4 Million Dollar law suit against the BMY giant. See for yourself. (Impressive indeed)
http://www.marketwire.com/mw/release_printer_friendly?release_id=104501&category=
$480,000,000 * 15 = approx $7,000,000,000
Divide by the maximum number of outstanding shares
(approx 2 Billion) worst case ...
$14,000,000,000 / 2,000,000,000 = $7.00
Now let's say they only get to sell to 10% of the people at first.
Why only 10 percent you ask?
- Difficulty to ramp up production at first.. However the demand is there, just need to get production to the level of the demand.
(Imagine opening a business where your sales are already pre-determined and waiting for you to simply act on them)
Let's not forget how this will improve the lives of millions of sufferers and the publicity that it will create.
This is a WIN WIN for all involved.
10% of $7.00= $.70 stock..
Now add the rest of Africa (another 5 million cases)
(as production increases)
easy double.. $1.40
Now export the drug to the rest of the world....
Over time, allow the production to ramp up & increase sales from 10% to 50%
Still want to give away your shares under 1.00 ? (and before the imminent PR's above)
This is minimum a 400 Million dollar company and we have a 40 Million dollar market CAP. (that is a 10 bagger minimum)
This sound realistic to you?
Don't forget that this is a penny stock and remember to take profits along the way. If this company is as good as it sounds, there will be plenty of green to be made along the way. It's unbelieveable how many great sounding pennies eventually self destruct and take many bagholders down with them.
That said, I would love to sell my 80,000 shares at over $1. ;) ;D
this is an older article...and this post if from the IHub board.

"The Nigerian market alone represents potential revenue IN EXCESS of $500,000,000 for the company."
http://www.socbioscience.org/drugdis_doc07.htm
=================================================
back to my opinion. XKEM clearly has an "approved" medicine for use and treatment of real Nigerian people...the 4,000,000 people or so. all that's left now is to see how quickly they can ramp up production, and how much help they can receive by way of loans (hopefully non-dilutive) from govt., private investors (may be even the bill gates foundation and the clinton foundation!!).
Nigeria has more people suffering from SCD than AIDS (4 mil. vs. 1.8 mil.). that's a staggering statistic.
Clearly mgmt. did their homework when it comes to choosing their market...thye did not go around building subsidiaries in other countries in africa, they instead picked nigeria clearly for the market potential. In fact, I don't see an immediate business sense to even worry about getting the medicine to the US market. Focus on Nigeria, help the people there, get the revenue estimated and then go about focusing on other market, or may be other diseases.

break through .05 took about 4 seconds. a lot of bullish power left in this beast.

Maybe it will help ???

Looks like XKEM is setting up for another bounce - any one wacthing?
We just need a little news.
Lalitha
Hi Lalitha,
We had "a little news" on Wed, Jul 26: "Demand for New Sickle Cell Drug NICOSAN(TM) Far Exceeds Supply".
And we got a a nice spike, but only for 1 day. :'(
So, IMHO, we need a BIG news with a good numbers ;)
In any case, I hope, the current support 0.024-0.026 will hold.
Good luck.
I am still holding a small position that is small enough for me not to care too much what happens short term, but be happy if all the hype about the potential for this stock ever turns out to be true. I also dont really see a big short term rebound coming without some good news.

Hi,
XKEM -> a good swing trading opportunity ???
A classic swing trading strategy is to buy near support and sell near resistance...Candelstick pattern add new facilities to determinate good entry point...Here is an example : XKEM :
1. Good support at 0.026
2. Harami is formed...
Few risk for good potential..
Good trades
I'm stuffed with XKEM on my portfolio and hope you are right, but still....I don't think you are, IMHO, this one is "dead" until some fresh news are presented.
So, my wallet hopes you're right, but my guts say you aren't....hope I'm wrong. >:D :-\ ???
Hi,
You known i am not an astologer :-[ There are a lot of swing trading strategy. When i post XKEM i said "Possible swing trading opportunity" to benefit of a correction...
Swiong trading is the art to find low-risk opportunities...If we are wrong (sometimes... :-\), our stop protect our capital.
Personnally, i don't play this stock :
1. MARKET IS BEARISH...I prefer to sell stocks in this situation.
2. XKEM has broken is support at 0.030 -> bad sign..
But...XKEM i an uptrend since febrary...In elliott wave theory, we are in the correction of the second wave...And MA200 could be a good support...
So my recommendation :
If price close above MA(200), keep this stock on your portofolio...But it could tested resistance at 0.030...
Very hard to say...Good luck
We have a nice spike 40%, volume - OK
I didn't find ANY news ???
Any comments, please.

Anyone still following this? Company is going to be at a Sickle Cell Conference in Dallas within the next few days. Also possible news about a loan approval. Stock has been steadily rising past few days decently and volume is starting to pick back up I think. Also just crossed the 50dma. (http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=xkem)

Xechem Receives $473,181 SBIR Grant From NIH-NHLBI to Conduct Toxicity Studies of 5-HMF Compound
Wednesday October 4, 6:30 am ET
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Xechem International, Inc. (OTC BB: XKEM - News) announced today that it has received a SBIR grant in the amount of $473,181 from the National Institutes of Health, National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NIH-NHLBI) to carry out the toxicity studies on the five-membered heterocyclic anti-sickling compound known as 5-HMF. Researchers from both Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), University of Pennsylvania are expected to participate in the 5-HMF trials.
As previously reported, Xechem acquired the exclusive worldwide rights for 5-HMF in December 2005 under a license agreement with VCU and on May 26th, 2006, Xechem was successful in obtaining Orphan Drug designation from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the drug. Research led by Dr. Donald Abraham of VCU has shown 5-HMF to be "the best potential anti-sickling agent in 30 years of sickle cell research," performed by his group. 5-HMF not only is a natural product with very little, if any, toxicity, but it has a high affinity for sickle cell hemoglobin. It is also very active in genetically modified mice as shown by Dr. Toshio Asakura, and his colleagues at the NIH-NHLBI Sickle Cell Disease Reference Laboratory at CHOP.
According to Xechem's Chairman and CEO, Dr. Ramesh Pandey, "We are very pleased to have received this significant grant to fund the toxicity studies of 5-HMF, which has shown great promise as a new type of anti-sickling agent that interacts specifically with intracellular hemoglobin without interacting with other proteins in the body. The grant award will allow us to immediately move forward on the 5-HMF front as we continue with our ongoing efforts to expand our production capability for our first sickle cell drug (NICOSAN(TM)), which was launched in Nigeria on July 6th, 2006."
5-HMF is a single compound which, subject to further testing and trials, could be effective for intravenous and/or oral use in the fight against Sickle Cell Disease. Previously, the Company acquired the exclusive worldwide license from the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD), Ministry of Health, Federal Government of Nigeria, for the research, development, manufacture, marketing and distribution of NICOSAN(TM)/HEMOXIN(TM), an all Natural Herbal Drug (phyto-pharmaceutical) that was launched in Nigeria on July 6th, 2006.
This stock will eventually make money.

production news and facility construction should be out by the end of this month.
All reports are positive so far out of Nigeria. Plenty of demand and government support for the program so some $$ is flowing. full-scale facility finished by mid-summer 2007.
Currently building a position again... range $.022 to $.025, sell to build $.033 to $.037...
probably won't spike above that and remain until after substantial numbers reported.
cheers,
SJ

U.S. Ex-Im Bank has Approved Comprehensive Guarantee to Support $9.38 Million Loan from UPS Capital to Xechem Pharmaceuticals Nigeria
Business Wire "US Press Releases "
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Xechem International, Inc. (OTC BB: XKEM) announced today that the United States Export Import (Ex-Im) Bank, the official credit export agency of the United States, has approved a Comprehensive Credit Guarantee to support a $9.38 million loan from UPS Capital Business Credit to Xechem Pharmaceuticals Nigeria, Ltd. (Xechem Nigeria). Two Nigerian banks, Access Bank Plc. and Diamond Bank, Plc., are to provide the required Nigerian local bank guarantees in favor of Ex-Im Bank.
Funds Earmarked for Establishment of State-of-the-Art Pharmaceutical Facility in Sheda Science Village, Sheda, FCT, Abuja, Nigeria
The funds to be provided by UPS Capital under the Ex-Im guaranteed loan will be used to purchase the U.S. manufactured plant equipment and machinery needed by Xechem Nigeria to establish a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical facility. The first phase of construction of the new facility began in July of this year. The total cost of the project is estimated at $12.45 million, of which $9.38 million will come from the U.S. loan. The expanded pharmaceutical facility, once completed, will enable Xechem Nigeria to produce commercial scale quantities of NICOSAN(TM), Xechem's breakthrough medicine for the prophylactic management of Sickle Cell Disease (SCD).
Xechem Nigeria received regulatory approval for the manufacture, sales and marketing of NICOSAN(TM) from Nigeria's National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) on July 3rd, 2006, and officially launched the drug just a few days later at a ceremony presided over by His Excellency, General Olusegun Obasanjo, the President of Nigeria. The drug is currently being produced by Xechem Nigeria in limited quantities at its pilot-scale facility in Abuja.
Dr. Ramesh Pandey, Chairman and CEO of the Xechem Companies said, "We are very pleased that this most anticipated guarantee from the U.S. Ex-Im Bank has now been approved and that we can now accelerate pursuit of our dream of building what we believe will be one of the finest state-of-the-art cGMP standard pharmaceutical facilities in Nigeria. Even more importantly, the Ex-Im guaranteed loan will help insure that we can produce commercial scale quantities of NICOSAN(TM) to meet the needs of the millions of people afflicted with this terrible disease. We are very grateful to Ex-Im Bank, UPS Business Credit, Access Bank and Diamond Bank, as well as our financial consultants, Financialbridge, Inc., for their support for this important project and for helping us make the dream a reality."
This can create clogs in the vessels, which in turn can cut off the flow of normal hemoglobin and oxygen to parts of the body, and can cause severe painful attacks or "crises", damage to various organs and shortened life spans. People with SCD often suffer unpredictable painful crises several times a year lasting from a few hours to a week or more. In the US, there are approximately 80,000 patients with SCD. In Nigeria, that number is believed to be approximately 4 million, with an estimated 10 - 12 million sufferers throughout the African continent. Worldwide, at least 16 million individuals are believed to be afflicted with SCD.
About Xechem
Xechem International is a development stage biopharmaceutical company working on Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), antimalarials, and antiviral (including AIDS), anticancer, antifungal and antibacterial products from natural sources, including microbial and marine organisms. Its primary focus is on the development of phyto-pharmaceuticals (Natural Herbal Drugs) and other proprietary technologies, including those used in the treatment of orphan diseases. Xechem's mission is to bring relief to the millions of people who suffer from these diseases. Its recent focus and resources have been directed primarily toward the development and launch of NICOSAN(TM) (named HEMOXIN(TM) in the US and Europe) for the prophylactic management of Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). With the recent Nigerian regulatory approval of NICOSAN(TM), Xechem is now scaling-up the commercialization of the drug in Nigeria and making preparations for the pursuit of US FDA and European regulatory approval. In addition to NICOSAN(TM), Xechem is also working on another sickle cell compound, 5-HMF, which it has licensed from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Am I prophetic, or what?

ps. the answer is "what" >:D
Just some of my idle thoughts...
Are ordinary folk like me timid about posting on this board, or are there simply that few investors in XKEM? I resent YHOO for not enabling message boards for any company that people desire to discuss, so I look to 3SOF for a more active discussion of XKEM - a company that seems to merit better coverage than it is presently receiving.
No opinions here about the proposed authorizing of 3BLN more shares? What happened with that? Is it one of the reasons that XKEM experiences brief spikes on positive news, and promptly retraces? I've been following SSSU lately (since I found mention of it here a few months back), and have to say I'm somewhat perturbed by the steady upward track of the share price of some questionable entertainment-related enterprise while a company that has proven medical merit with incredible earnings prospects for the not-too-distant future struggles (and fails, so far) to keep pace.
This ExIm loan guarantee, IMO should lift XKEM's s/p to a new trading range - who are these weak hands selling under 3 cents? I've been accumulating XKEM for nearly a year - most of it more recently, every time it dips below 2.4 cents (considering where it's headed today - I may have another opportunity <sigh>). I'm not interested in selling any shares for at least the next year, possibly two - once the company is in a full manufacturing and distribution phase. Will XKEM have the dubious distinction of issuing an ER with exponential profit only to have it's stock price retrace to 2.7 cents the next day? Is XKEM stock destined to remain the province of (fractional) penny flippers?
Sorry if my cynicism is all too apparent, maybe it's the reason I post infrequently. I'm hesitating to post this, but I think I need to share some of my thoughts with the rest of you just to get some perspective, so thanks for reading. Perhaps I should change my handle to:
Eeyore.
your bitterness and resignation go hand in hand with XKEM. I must say that it has been a long and frustrating road with this company. I've been involved with it for many years on a financial and scientific basis, and I must confess that your frustration mirrors mine. Loans have been made and wasted. Money has come and gone. Shares have been issued and issued and issued.. which is why it languishes here in penny land. Medically, this company has and will serve an important purpose in the lives of those suffering from SCD, but that is a low market here in the US and thus of very little consequence to the investment world. One just has to go back to the days of taxol and BMS preventing other sources from taking away business from its chemotherapy market. Plenty of ways to get/purify/make paclitaxel but all were either bought, destroyed or courted out of business. In the long run, this compnay will survive but it won't make anyone wealthy except for the crooks.
My advice, is build a position slowly... sell those shares that you acquire below 2.4 cents at anything above 3.5 for the next 9 to 12 months... This is where the trading range will remain.
eventually you will own a completely "free" position, and it won't hurt so much worrying aobut the damn company.
cheers,
SJ

Looks to me as this has made a BreakOut
From a Triple Bottom (reversal) Pattern.
Last 5 trading days has made a Strong move to bust the 50-day and
the 200-day MA's.
Don't chase it, at this point in time I would watch and wait for a pullback and
buy the dip. Let the 50-day MA catch up.

Triple Bottom (Reversal)
The triple bottom is a reversal pattern made up of three equal lows followed by a breakout above resistance. While this pattern can form over just a few months, it is usually a long-term pattern that covers many months. Because of its long-term nature, weekly charts can be best suited for analysis.
As the triple bottom develops, it can start to resemble a number of patterns. Before the third low forms, the pattern may look like a double bottom. Three equal lows can also be found in a descending triangle or rectangle. Of these patterns mentioned, only the descending triangle has bearish overtones; the others are neutral until a breakout occurs. Similarly, the triple bottom should also be treated as a neutral pattern until a breakout occurs. The ability to hold support is bullish, but demand has not won the battle until resistance is broken. Volume on the last advance can sometimes yield a clue. If there is a sharp increase in volume and momentum, then the chances of a breakout increase.

That last post was soooooo wrong.....
Change in CEO has driven the price down.... BUT ON VERY LOW VOLUME.
There is clear evidence of accumulation at a lower level. The price is being driven
down on weak hands selling into any blip.
Watch this one carefully. I made a bundle the last time it dipped below .01
and then bounce to $.07. News form Nigeria is all positive.

Where did you hear this rumor? I know about the CC and everything. I actually lost so much money in this a LONG time ago I never sold just hoping it could recover.
I used to be a big time funder of this company..... millions... but lost faith in management and
politics. Still keeping tabs although not as close as before when materially invested.
Possibility that the patent rights are being bought by a company better managed.
If you have been holding for more than two years... might as well continue holding.
no loss until you sell and it may not be a loss within a couple of years.

Oh I see. I read this forum usually every day. http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/board.aspx?board_id=2819. But nothing seems to agree with what you are saying about a buyout etc. And ya, I have been in it since it ran to .11 I actually got in on the way down after it peaked. But we shall see what comes out of this CC and company of itself. GLTA
the following is interesting in light of current Conference Call
Emma Ujah - author and direct beneficiary of nicosan
Xechem Pharmaceutical Nigeria Limited disclosed at the weekend that it has invested over $15 million in the production of NICOSAN the world's most effective drug, yet, for the management of Sickle Cell Disease (SCD).Briefing the press in Abuja , the Managing Director (MD) of the company, Mr. Iretiolu Oniyide said the efforts of the company's board, management and staff had brought an unprecedented relief to SCD patients who could now live normal lives, without the usual crisis, once placed on the drug which is produced in Abuja .
"There has not been any drug for SCD that could bring relief and make patients live normal lives until the NICOSAN came on the stage. Now we have testimonies of users of the drug across the country who now live normal lives.
"We now have SCD patients who can go about their economic activities without crisis, children with sickle cell can now live normal lives, go to school, without being kept out of school by crisis. We are overwhelmed by the volume of testimonies of users and we are proud to be part of this great discovery', the MD said.
Mr. Oniyide, revealed that there were enemies of Nigeria who were hell bent on rubbishing the success story of NICOSAN but that he team at Xechem was prepared not only to refuse to be distracted but move ahead to expand its production lines and by so doing, make NICOSAN available to more SCD patients within and outside the country.
He debunked a recent reports alleging the inefficacy of NICOSAN in the management of SCD and that the drug has not met the required quality control standards, stressing that NAFDAC, the apex regulatory authority has endorsed the drug as having passed through necessary quality control standards and processes.
