I don't think YMI is a good short candidate, there is no signs of pulling back.. the trend is UP even though RSI is in Overbought territory... don't look to much on RSI that will give you a premature buying @ selling point
:)Terlisa thanks for the comments....yes i agree the trend up is still there....and big volume...but i wait and we will see it has to retrace sooner or later because it s overbought...i will be careful or look for another short play.

YM BioSciences initiates Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer trial with nimotuzumab
Thursday , March 23, 2006 17:26 ET
MISSISSAUGA, ON, March 23, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- YM BioSciences Inc. (AMEX:YMI, TSX:YM, AIM:YMBA), the cancer product development company, today announced that the first patient has been enrolled in its multi-center Phase I/II Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) trial utilizing YM's anti-EGFr monoclonal antibody, nimotuzumab (TheraCIM). The randomized Phase II part of the trial will compare the effects of the combination of nimotuzumab with radiation against radiation alone in patients with Stage IIB and III disease who are found to be insufficiently fit to tolerate the standard-of-care or who are not amenable to treatment with curative intent.
"Together with our European development partner, Oncoscience AG, our Southeast Asian partner, Innogene Kalbiotech Pte. Ltd., and our partner in Korea, Kuhnil Pharmaceutical Co., we have expanded the clinical development program for nimotuzumab to include trials in children and adults with brain cancer, advanced metastatic pancreatic cancer and now NSCLC. In addition, the licensor has trials ongoing for nimotuzumab in glioma, breast, esophageal and prostate cancer," said David Allan, Chairman and CEO of YM. "We expect to complete recruitment for the NSCLC trial in approximately 20 months."
The Phase I portion of the NSCLC trial will be an open-label dose escalation study in which increasing doses of nimotuzumab will be studied in combination with palliative radiation in patients with Stage IIB and III disease who are unable to receive standard chemoradiation treatment with curative intent. Separate dose escalation studies will be conducted in Canada by YM and in Korea by YM's partner Kuhnil Pharmaceutical Co. The primary objectives of the Phase I studies are to determine the optimal dose, any dose limiting toxicity (DLT), safety profile and observe any evidence of antitumour activity of nimotuzumab when used in combination with radiation. The enrolment in this study is expected to be up to 30 evaluable patients and will depend upon the number of dose levels tested.
The Phase II portion of the trial is expected to enroll approximately 120 patients in total who will be randomized to receive either palliative radiation therapy or nimotuzumab in combination with palliative radiation therapy. The primary clinical endpoints for the Phase II study will be local tumor control and survival.
Nimotuzumab is being developed in a number of indications and is in the class of EGF-targeting drugs which have repeatedly demonstrated their ability to enhance the effect of radiation. A randomized trial with nimotuzumab that included 130 patients suffering from nasopharyngeal cancer was completed in China and demonstrated the substantial benefit of nimotuzumab when added to standard radiation therapy, resulting in the drug being approved for sale in that country. Nimotuzumab has shown clinical benefit as a monotherapy as well; a Phase II monotherapy trial of nimotuzumab produced evidence of efficacy and a strong indication of survival benefit in children with recurrent brain cancer. Nimotuzumab is unique because it has not produced the emotionally and physically debilitating side effects of rash or severe diahhrea suffered by patients treated with the other drugs in this class. Phase III IND applications have been filed in Europe for the drug.
Nimotuzumab is licensed to YM's subsidiary CIMYM Inc. by CIMAB S.A., a corporation representing the Center of Molecular Immunology in Havana. CIMYM's licenses are for the major market countries including Europe, North America and the Pacific Rim countries excluding China. CIMAB has separate licenses in India with Biocon Biopharmaceuticals Limited and the Peoples' Republic of China with Biotech Pharmaceuticals Limited.
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related mortality in both men and women. The prevalence of lung cancer is second only to that of prostate cancer in men and breast cancer in women. (NSCLC) accounts for approximately 75% of all lung cancers. The standard of care for the treatment of NSCLC is radical therapy utilizing the chemotherapy cisplatin in combination with high dose radiation. Dr. Mark Vincent, staff oncologist at the London Regional Cancer Centre, estimates that the combined population of patients unfit for chemotherapy or unwilling to undergo the treatment because of the often intolerable side effects of chemotherapies may approximate 20% of patients diagnosed with an advanced form of this cancer. In addition, virtually all patients with NSCLC will eventually become refractory to chemotherapy and be treated with radiation as palliative care.
consolidation phase now finished??
cheers

YM BioSciences' partner, Oncoscience AG, cleared for Phase III trial in Germany with nimotuzumab
Tuesday , March 28, 2006 07:08 ET
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Mar 28, 2006 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX) -- YM BioSciences Inc. (AMEX:YMI, TSX:YM, AIM:YMBA), the cancer product development company, today announced that its partner, Oncoscience AG, has been cleared by the German regulatory authority for biological products, the Paul Ehrlich Institute, to initiate a Phase III trial of nimotuzumab in combination with radiation in children with inoperable pontine (brain stem) glioma. The clinical trial was also reviewed with the EMEA and is designed as a prospectively registrable study on the basis of a single arm trial because of the absence of treatment options for children suffering from pontine glioma. It is anticipated that marketing authorization subsequent to a successful trial would be sought under the EMEA centralized procedure.
The trial is a single arm study in which 40 children with inoperable pontine glioma will be treated with radiation concomitant with nimotuzumab. The primary clinical endpoints in the trial will be Progression-Free Survival at 3, 6, 12 and 24 months with Median Survival as secondary endpoint. Clinical sites will be located in Germany, Italy, Belarus and Russia and it is anticipated that recruitment could be completed within approximately 12 months after the start of patient enrolment. Based on a historical median survival for this form of cancer of approximately 8.5 months, the trial could be completed in the second quarter of 2007.
Additional data from the 40 patient Phase II trial conducted by Oncoscience AG were presented at the 27th Annual German Cancer Conference in Berlin on March 25th, 2006. The study reported 8 out of 40 patients were evaluable for response after consolidation therapy and showed three partial responses (PR), one Stable Disease (SD) and four progressive disease (PD) in week 21. Eight patients with consolidation therapy were free of progression for a median of 4.6 months (1.9-14.5 months). Eight children out of the 40 recruited into the trial were still surviving as of March 25th (2.9-20.6) months. Non-responders to treatment had a median survival of 1.1 months. No severe side effects and no rash, diarrhea or conjunctivitis related to the study medication were observed.
YM BioSciences has previously announced that it and its majority owned subsidiary, CIMYM Inc., propose to file for authorization to conduct a Phase III trial in North America following a clearance for such a trial in Germany. In addition YM proposes to pursue the clinical development of nimotuzumab in adult glioma as well as the current target of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer. YM's licensor, CIMAB SA and its parent, the Center for Molecular Immunology, are conducting trials with nimotuzumab in glioma, breast, esophageal, cervical, prostate and head and neck cancer.
Data from trials with nimotuzumab will be presented by Oncoscience AG in two separate posters: at the AACR meeting in Washington, DC on April 04, 2006 in the late breaking news poster session and at the ASCO meeting in Atlanta, Georgia on June 05, 2006. YM will also have results disclosed from a pharmacodynamic/pharmacokinetic study of nimotuzumab conducted by the University of Toronto at the ASCO meeting.

M BioSciences hits data milestone
Wednesday, June 07, 2006 11:54 ET
By Staff Reporter
NEW YORK, Jun 07, 2006 (XFN-ASIA via COMTEX) -- Cancer drug developer YM BioSciences Inc. said Wednesday that it reached the first analysis milestone in its late-stage clinical trial for its breast cancer drug tesmilifene.
In a 700-patient clinical trial, 192 patients with late stage breast cancer have died, triggering an analysis of data comparing the survival benefit of tesmilifene and cancer drugs epirubicin and cyclophosphamide against the cancer drugs alone. The Mississauga, Ontario-based company said the analysis will occur within the next four weeks.
The company hopes to show that tesmilifene allowed patients to live 33 percent longer, based on 384 patient deaths. Under the trial design, if the analysis of 192 deaths shows that tesmilifene increased patient's survival by 50 percent, the study can be stopped early, and all subjects can be treated with tesmilifene.
The drug is under a Food and Drug Administration fast-track designation, meaning the company can submit data to the agency and receive feedback as data becomes available.
YM BioSciences shares fell 10 cents, or 2 percent, to $4.88 in morning trading on the American Stock Exchange.
YM BioSciences Cancer Trial to Continue

Independent Board Recommends YM BioSciences Continue Trial of Breast Cancer Treatment
NEW YORK (AP) -- Canadian drug developer YM BioSciences Inc. said Tuesday an independent data safety monitoring board recommended a late-stage trial of its tesmilifene breast cancer treatment continue.
YM BioSciences is conducting a Phase III trial of tesmilifene for the treatment of rapidly progressing metastatic or recurrent breast cancer. The trial, which enrolled 723 patients in September 2005, is the subject of a Special Protocol Assessment and a Fast Track designation for advanced breast cancer by the Food and Drug Administration.
"Based on the study design, we believe the trial continues to have the prospect to yield a positive outcome," Chairman and Chief Executive David Allan said in a statement. "Further, this analysis also confirms that tesmilifene continues to demonstrate a good safety profile."
YM BioSciences shares rose 62 cents, or 20.7 percent, to $3.61 in aftermarket trading on the INET electronic exchange, after they closed up a penny at $2.99 on the Nasdaq. Shares have traded between $2.35 and $6.50 over the past year.

YM BioSciences provides update on tesmilifene pivotal trial
Monday January 15, 12:30 am ET
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Jan. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - YM BioSciences Inc. (AMEX:YMI, TSX:YM, AIM:YMBA), an oncology company that identifies, develops and commercializes differentiated products for patients worldwide, today announced that the independent Data Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) for the pivotal Phase III trial of tesmilifene in patients with metastatic or recurrent breast cancer has notified the Company that the milestone of 320 events required for the third interim analysis in its pivotal Phase III trial has occurred.
Since the last "data sweep" was completed in November 2006, the DSMB advised the Company to conduct a further data sweep to bring the survival data current prior to performing the third interim analysis. This data sweep is ongoing and the Company expects this work to be completed and to have a formal recommendation from the DSMB in February 2007. A data sweep is conducted on a periodic basis prior to each interim analysis.
"Although we are eager to learn the outcome of this third interim analysis, a meticulous review by the DSMB of any new data is entirely in keeping with the rigor of this trial," said David Allan, Chairman and CEO of YM BioSciences. "Because of the interest in this third analysis and expectations that it might occur this month, we decided to confirm that the threshold number of events has been reached. We have no additional information from this trial at this time."
The pivotal Phase III trial compares the survival of patients treated with tesmilifene combined with epirubicin/cyclophosphamide to epirubicin/cyclophosphamide alone in women with rapidly progressing metastatic and/or recurrent breast cancer. The trial, which completed enrollment of 723 patients in September 2005, is the subject of a Special Protocol Assessment and a Fast Track designation for advanced breast cancer by the FDA.
The trial is being conducted according to a sequential design that permits a number of planned interim analyses and the trial will continue until one of two specific statistical conditions is satisfied. At each analysis, the hazard ratio between the tesmilifene-containing treatment arm and the control arm is calculated and then reviewed by the DSMB. The trial may be concluded if either the tesmilifene-containing treatment arm is superior to the control by a specified margin or it is determined that such evidence is not going to be found. If the evidence is insufficient for either conclusion to be drawn, then the trial continues until the next analysis. At the first and second interim analyses, the DSMB recommended that the trial continue as planned.

YM BioSciences Halts Breast Cancer Trial
Tuesday January 30, 5:32 pm ET
YM BioSciences Says Independent Board Doesn't See Benefit of Continuing Study; Shares Plunge
NEW YORK (AP) -- Canadian cancer drug developer YM BioSciences Inc. said Tuesday an independent safety monitoring board advised the company to halt its late-stage trial of tesmilifene in breast cancer patients, because it doesn't believe there will be significant survival benefits to taking the drug over other treatments.
Shares of YM plunged $1.12, or nearly 30 percent, to $2.65 in aftermarket trading, having closed up 4 cents at $3.77 on the American Stock Exchange.
The Mississauga, Ontario-based company said the trial isn't being stopped due to safety concerns relating to the product, and plans to submit data from the trial to a medical meeting after a review is complete.
The trial compared the survival of 723 women with rapidly spreading and/or recurrent breast cancer treated with either tesmilifene combined with epirubicin/cyclophosphamide or epirubicin/cyclophosphamide alone. The study was the subject of a "Fast-Track" designation for advanced breast cancer by the Food and Drug Administration.
"We are very disappointed by this outcome and will be evaluating the data to understand why tesmilifene did not add a clinical benefit in this trial," said David Allan, chairman and CEO of YM BioSciences. "Upon completing the review of the Phase III data, the company will consider its options relating to tesmilifene."
Tesmilifene is a small molecule that selectively targets multiple-drug resistant tumor cells, sensitizing them to chemotherapy.
