Focus Enhancements Up on Lifted 1Q View

Focus Enhancements Shares Soar on Lifted 1st-Quarter Outlook
NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of Focus Enhancements, a Campbell, Calif.-based maker of integrated circuits used in IPTV set-top boxes and portable media players, shot up in midday trading on Monday after the company lifted its first-quarter outlook.
Before opening bell on Monday the company said it expected $7 million in first-quarter revenue, 27 percent higher than the year-ago quarter's $5.5 million in revenue, and up from previous guidance for $6.7 million in sales.
For the full year, the company now expects $34 million in revenue, up from previous projections for $32 million.
W.R. Hambrecht analyst Daniel Amir, who reiterated a "Buy" rating on the stock, said the company is poised to benefit from the second-quarter rollout of ultrawide band development (UWB) kits.
"We are reiterating our Buy rating on Focus shares because: 1) UWB development kits should start shipping in the second quarter; Focus Enhancements remains the only public company to play the exciting growth of the UWB market," Amir wrote in a note.
UWB is a type of wireless data transmission that transmits ultra low-power radio signals across all frequencies. It's believed to use less power and is expected to deliver higher speeds than 802.11 or Bluetooth technologies.
Amir also added that Focus Enhancements can grow its business in the digital asset and digital signage markets, which may potentially grow 40 percent, year-over-year.
Shares of Focus, which have traded between 57 cents and $1.10 over the last year, were up 6 cents, or 6.2 percent, at $1.03 in midday trading on the Nasdaq. The stock is up 66 percent since the start of the year.

Hi dhiraj19
Hope us all goodluck
I don't like holding till earnings release so I'll be looking for an exit between now and then. Holding till earnings release is risky and if a good report comes out then would be a good time to re-enter to ride it up some more. Whatever you decide to do I hope you the best with it.
Goodluck trading :)
Posting a weekly 2 year chart to show the muti-year breakout that is about to happen. Should be an interesting next two weeks till earnings
Boy, did the M&M's play with this one today. I wonder how many stop losses they grab in their manipulation of making it drop today but as you can see it couldn't stay down . Bulls are in controll.
Goodluck to all holding,if any is still holding
Still holding mine and plan to. Haven't figured out trading plan yet but I will before earnings is released.
Wrangler,
This question is specific to you. What do you say about FCSE? What are it's potential run targets and estimated time to run them? TA appreciated.
Thanks,
Dhiraj
Hi dhiraj19
FCSE : I think has great potential but it has had been on list for delisting and that alway's makes a stock risky. FCSE has failed to meet NASDAQ Capital Market continued listing requirement(s). If M&m's can keep this stock under 1.00 to keep it from staying listed on the major exchanges then that would turn into a great short seller play but I'm taking my chances on that because of the new products that it has come out with. It has traded above 1.00 now for about 8 trading days and it takes 10 to show for delisting to be cancelled. If this can stay above and delisting to be cancelled along with the new products coming out and get a good earnings out this stock will be going up.
I don't like to play earnings so I will probably play it till then as long as it stay's above 1.00 with a mental stop loss of .94 and if this play's out I'll put a trailing stop loss in the night before earnings comes out 5 points below previous days low. Reason for mental stop loss is so if M&M's come in to drive price down to take out stop losses already put in place.
I have already posted a weekly chart on this thread to show it, I'm now posting a daily muti-year chart to show more for my reason's for buying this stock. I use both when looking for a stock to buy.
Goodluck trading :)

The FS-C HD60 and FS-C HD100 (offering 60 and 100 GB of tapeless hard-drive video storage, respectively) can record direct nonlinear HDV or DV streams with or without a tape inserted in the XL H1. Footage is recorded as DTE files, which can be imported and used immediately by most popular nonlinear editing systems, saving time, improving workflow, and providing a digital backup. At a data rate of approximately 13GB per hour for HDV format recording, the FS-C HD60 can provide 4 1/2 hours of recording time; the FS-C HD100, approximately nine hours.
Miranda Technologies has introduced the AMX-800 CAM, a convenient camera-mounted interface that embeds SMPTE time code and four channels of analog audio into the HD SDI or SD SDI data stream of the Canon XL H1 HD Camcorder. The AMX-800 CAM connects the XL H1 camcorder's HD SDI/SD SDI output, SMPTE time code output, LANC jack, and XLR audio connectors and provides live HD recording and/or monitoring from the XL H1 HD Camcorder. The AMX-800 CAM can also be used independently and features two-level control for audio input (one per audio pair) and selectable on-screen display showing time code burn-in and the XL H1HD Camcorder's aspect ratio markers and camera status display.
Thank you so much for putting an exceptional effort for asked analysis. If it becomes FNSR or ARTG, I'll be happy for us. :)

Goodluck to you also dhiraj19
I'm still fairly new at trading 2 &1/2 yrs. now but I think I'm starting to learn it good enough to make some money at it .
My TA is probably not as good as some because I edit my own I don't have charting software..
I hope you make some money on this play but as I said I'm still learning and sometimes my play's don't always work out for me but that is a part of the learning process. Just wanted you to be aware of this if you decide to play it the way I'm doing.
If there is one thing I've learned is a winning play is not how much you gain from a trade but
if it becomes a winner or loser it doesn'r matter how much you win as long as it's a winner.
Goodluck to all holding :)
If it can stay above 1.00 by end of this week that should bring it back into compliance with Nasdaq listings. Be aware that the M&M's may try to keep it down to keep this from happening

So far everything is looking good. Hope rest of the week will be this good and bring them back into compliance and continue it's run into earnings.
FCSE : watch for possible breakout today if it can climb above 1.10 which was the high for yesterday. Next target after breakout will be 1.20 before earnings release
Looks like a tug of war might be going on between the bulls and the bears. We need some positive news. Be on you're toes if you're holding when it comes to tug and war it can go either way.
Be sure to make you're losses to a minimum if it should go the other way.
Goodluck to all holding :)
FCSE : breakout is happening today
Goodluck to all :)
Just posted chart for Muti-year breakout. I's tight because it's 2 Yr. daily instead of weekly because the 52 week high has been broken. I'm going to post a weekly muti-year later both shows breakout is happening. You will see my target's on the chart. I believe we'll see 1.70 or close to it before earnings on the 11th.
When I seek out a stock I like when it shows a buy on both the daily short term and weekly muti-year long term.
Goodluck trading to all :)
Have been keeping an eye on this thread. Was waiting for the breakout you pointed out, wrangler. Now in at 1.17. GLTA!
Welcome aboard nutsterrt
Keeps making new highs and volume will probably beat the six month high also. This stock is going to GO,GO,GO
Goodluck to all holding :)
Applaud for your awesome work on this pick.

Thanks dhiraj19
What a run it had today. Wish I could have watched it and the volume say's more to come. Because of new hours at work I won't be able to watch at opening bell but as soon as I get up and see what's happening I'll try to keep this thread active for those who's watching. Seems to be holding steady around yesterday's closing price. Once all shares dry up then we'll see it climb somemore. Still got about one week till earnings report and I'm hoping for 1.70 by then. They should regain their compliance to stay listed on nasdaq either today or tomorrow
Wrangler,
I was also thinking of golden crossover of 50/200. Good luck.
- Dhiraj
I think their is some taking profit today. A lot of buyers got in when it was under 1.00 as long as it stay's fairly close to yesterday's closing price we have nothing to worry about. Volume is still looking good and look forward to my target of 1.70 or more
Goodluck trading :)
Price has gone down into the low 1.20's . Didn't think it would go that low. Hope it will climb back up before closing bell today
Goodluck trading :)
it recovered gracefully from it 7% fall today to close high and put white candle. :)
What a go FCSE. That should be the end of the profit takers for a while and probably M&M's grabbing some stop losses. You've got to watch how you play stop losses,,M&M's will drive a stock price down to grab shares when a hot stock is about to run. Also FCSE was on CNBC ticker's today first time I've seen it on there that means more exposure.
Hold onto you're seat we're going to go on a good ride.
dhiraj19
Have you thought of a trading plan yet with earnings next week I would suggest that you try to make a plan before it get's here,,just a suggestion.
I'm looking for a target of 1.70 but even still the chart might tell before that.
Goodluck trading :)
My target is 1.80 to get out some day before earnings. I am watching it constantly. Also, to add here, ARTG, TMTA and FNSR were bullish before earnings and had said earlier that they were going to beat earnings. After their respective earning calls, they kept their bullish stance.
I dont know if FCSE is going to call some positive guidance with exceeding numbers, if that happens it'll continue, but we can jump back in.
Also, look IIP bullish went to 1.3 before earnings and today it is trading around 1.5. CGR, yesterday I picked it up, chart is bullish. Elite confirmed it and they do everything diamond, gold, oil and yesterday they had news of new high grade gold discovery.
- Dhiraj
I am in with you guys on this one. I got in yesterday around 1.3, unfortunately right before I could have gotten in for .1 less. Still it made a nice recovery. IIP did make a nice run also yesterday. I am in that one too. I am hopefully going to play FCSE like VWPT. Watch it run before earnings with a tighter stop as it gets closer.
Hi digdug42 ,,Welcome aboard
Like how FCSE is making a steady gain with average volume it's not being pumped for reason of gain,,To me that's a true gain. Will be a good day.
Great trading dhiraj19

Agreed. That is why I kept staying with VWPT before earnings. It made a nice steady run with above average but fairly steady volume. This one seems to be setting up the same way. Great picks wrangler!! Thanks
550.000 shares traded over 1.30 so far,,I like that. Will probably see over 1 Mil. today after first day of sell off.

The conference is being held at the Monterey Plaza Hotel in Monterey, CA. Stock is falling at end of day right after last post. Must be profit takers or M&M's taking out stop losses. I'll continue to hold and hope this is manipulation going on
Talk about strange. It made a new low then went to make a new high and back to trading range of 1.34 so far in the last hour of trading.
FCSE : has had mild selling from profit takers last two days but has been holding steady in 1.28 to 1,34 trading range. Conferance meeting is today at 3:00 pm then earnings on Thursday. I'm expecting this stock to trade higher at end after conferance meeting and possibly a breakout for tomorrow before earnings with profit takers towards end of day. I'll be hoping for the rise in price towards end of day without a stop loss entered. I won't be able to watch it after 2:30 so I'll hope for a good meeting that investors will like and if it goes good I'll probably be entering a trailing stop loss in tomorrow after a run up and see where it will go. The golden crossover of the 50 and 200 day MA is now showing hope this is a sign of what is to come
Goodluck trading to all :)
News out today. The more the better right now before earnings.

Hey wrangler. Are you thinking about holding this through earnings? I guess it probably just depends on your stop right?
Hi digdug42
It all depends on Wed. trading . If it will stay within the 1.28 to 1.36 range I'll hold and use trailing stop loss for earnings but if I begin to see a big sell off I'll consider selling. Sometimes I don't know till the last minute what I'm going to do.
I still think this stock has room to grow but usually there will be a lot of selling the day before earnings because playing thru earnings is risky. It is better to lock in you're profit's and if it should go higher because of good earnings report then jump back on for the next ride.
Whatever I decide to do I'll post it as soon as I do. Usually I get cold feet and sell before earnings to lock in profits.
Whatever you decide to do I hope you goodluck trading :)

First 15 minutes of trading,,low @1.20..high 1.30 and trading now @1.22 with 126,850 shares traded. Still see this as not a reason to sell with low volume but traders taking profits and M&M's scaring traders with opening shares being 100 and 200 and 100 shares and so on share price that's M&M's bringing price down to scare and take out stop losses.
Will continue to hold for now and see what happens after one hour of trading and see if it climbs back up.
Goodluck to all holding :)
I am still in this one as of now. I will be watching closely. Hopefully the conference call goes well and then good earnings tomorrow. Is this normal to have a conference call before earnings? Are they allowed to talk about their earnings today? Good luck to you wrangler.
Both of my aggressive small cap aggressive stocks ( mutual fund lingo) got hit today. IIP and FCSE. I am still holding as I think they'll resume their move upward soon with turnarounds happened and positive results have started pouring in.

Hi digdug42
Have posted new chart to show my reasons for holding even though price has gone down to 1.20. Chart shows there's no reason for now to worry.
Yesterday wasn't a conferance meeting to discuss furure projections of the company it was Financial conferance of AeA Micro Cap. But see this as a good one or their would be some major selling going on.

It is now 1:00 PM and 411,038 shares has been traded,,Last trade @1.23,,Ask @1.23,,bid @1.23. Sounds like investors are now waiting. I'm looking for a breakout but it's only my opinion and hope it happens.
Wish I knew when earnings will be released tomorrow but time is not specified.
Goodluck to all holding :)
Time for me to get off here ,,got to get ready for work will see what's happened when I get back about 4:00 AM.
Let's keep our fingers crossed
Goodluck to all holding :)
Earnings is after market close and plan is to put trailing stop loss in for 6% from today's closing price. Anytime I use a trailing stop I'll use lowest closing price for three previous day's to go by and set around 5 points below it.
I'm posting a new chart to show where trailing stop loss will be and will show reason by using last three trading day's low and support with trend line to choose my trailing stop and if it get's taken I'll still be ahead 10%
Got close to my trailing stop and now has climbed back up. Low for day @1.16 and is now @1.20 looks like the selling and shorts might be done going into earnings at 3:00 today. Still think my target of 1.70 might be hit within one week after earnings release,,keeping my fingers crossed on this.
Will have to watch trailing stop since it will change while stock price changes.
Goodluck trading to all
Price has dropped back down is now @1.15 and getting closer to trailing stop loss. I guess profit takers is selling to protect their gain.
Trailing stop loss was hit. Still a little shy of 10% gain so I'll wait to see what will happen after earnings
Goodluck if you're still holding anything can happen after earnings :)
Just bought back in @1.13. Still think this stock has alot going for it with the PR's that has come out and new product's coming out and with gaining compliance to stay listed on Nasdaq.
Even if it's not a big run after earnings I see this stock as one to hold for at least a month for some good return on it.
Goodluck trading to all :)
My inner man was right when I listened after my trailing stop loss was taken and decided to buy back. Ended the day @1.25 tomorrow should be a good solid day and maybe get back in the 1.30's. This company had to much going for it to go down and stay. First time I've ever played into earnings and got taken out then re-entered right after it was taken and looks like the breakout might be starting now. Will find out tomorrow.
Goodluck trading to all and any that might still be holding :)

I bailed on this one yesterday. Good luck wrangler. Looks like it is losing steam today, but hopefully it will turn around for you. Unfortunately I sold a bit too early in the day yesterday.
Hi digdug42
I was hoping for a good run today but doesn't look like it will go so I decided to sell again @1.15. These commissions is eating up what little profit I'm getting. Put limit order in to buy BSLM with sell of FCSE.
Goodluck trading to you also :)
Today it came out with following news. Was up 20 % in pre-market.

Great post and thank you for all your comments...

Looking for a break out of an ascending triangle today. Nice volume. ;D
nice presentation from analyst day:
http://www.focusinfo.com/dynassets/documents/downloads/06-10_FCSEAnalystDay_FINAL.pdf
The major news here, I think, is that by 2010, FCSE will essentially be a UWB revenue-driven company, while maintaining all other current operations as long as they remain profitable, assuming they become profitable. (He hinted towards a positive cash flow from operations beginning late Q2 early Q3 '07).
The nice thing about the transition is that their electronics/semiconductor division and its established financial reputation among customers actually provided a competitive cost advantage. (He explains this fully in the Webcast).
Really positive growth potential, and currently with no apparent competitors capable of matching Focus' 1. Quality 2. Cost 3. Speed 4. Range
>:D

Goodluck trading to all
I missed getting in on this earlier on. I bought a significant amount the other day just before the Oct 10 Analyst Day. It was in a nice flagging pattern and after reviewing all the fundamentals and their prospects with ZUNE and wireless chips. It moved up 20% or so in two days. There is a link to their webcast on their website if you want to hear it (well worth listening too). The pullback point looks to be in the mid $1.65 range and it came back to $1.68 a little earlier. I think we are seeing some profit taking into the weeknd and Monday it may pick back up again. Its getting tremendous volume and attention (which will of course lead to volatility). It has Analyst attention which is unusual for a stock like this (they recevied a strong buy recommendation (which is why I started looking into it). Mike
