SQNM : just sold half of my shares @.80
SQNM : just sold some more shares @.78 to lock in some profit and now holding free shares to ride it out if it should decide to go higher ;D ;D ;)
SQNM : I look for it to pierce it's 200 day MA tomorrow and if it doesn't that's ok for I'm holding free shares now after selling 2/3rds of my position to lock in some profit and shares was bought @.64.
I really think it will move up, guess tomorrow will tell.
Goodluck trading to all :)
Hi There Wrangler.
This stock is a bit of a puzzle to me.
Do you have any view on where it is heading ?
same question here :D
Hi masternic35 and tokyoseminole
Looking at chart the RSI is heading up and MACD is heading up and it pierced the 32 DMA with a long white candlestick which showed a lot of buyers jumping on. It could be the beginning of another run . I like to to wait till the candlestick moves above the 32 DMA and stays to confirm the run is happening. Sometimes trying to jumping on the train to fast can lead you in a u-turn heading down. When the candlestick can move above the 32 DMA with volume increasing more with each day along with a white candlestick ending each day higher then previous day,,that will be the time to buy..
Keep posting and I'll help as much as I can but my time is limited because of my work schedule but follow the above and it will help you to decide when the right time to buy will be. Hope this helps
Goodluck trading to the both of you :)
Missed this one. Has had a great few days on great volume with 50dma crossing 200dma :)
WOW,,Hi kslifka
SQNM has been doing great since I sold off my shares. Volume was really great today but with stock's breaking 52 week high's you've got to ask when will this thing start to correct and then the downtrend will begin. Sometimes, right before a correction begin's a stock will get some of it's highest volume. I personally wouldn't enter this stock for I think the risk is greater then the reward. That's just my opinoin,,It could go on to make new high's but I would be a nervous wreck while waiting for a chance to sell.
All trader's must decide what amount of risk they are willing to take on any trade and this one to me with 52 week highs doesn't show me a place where I might get my reward you would only be waiting for new high's.
goodluck trading
I'm not in this one...but SQNM keeps going on good volume.
Only time can tell on 52 week high's. Today's trading show's either investor's taking some off the table,,,A correction could be happening or beginning of a downtrend. It takes about a week to be able to see for sure but tomorrow will be one to watch especially if today's closing price is lower then yesterday's. Learn to read the candle's or bar's ,,I like using the bar's when trying to figure out what might be happening.

Sequenom hits 6-year peak as SEQureDX Down syndrome data draws interest from funds
NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of Sequenom Inc. climbed to a six-year high Friday, capping a lengthy surge after the company said its prenatal Down syndrome test was effective.
The stock is up 67.6 percent since June 3, the day before Sequenom said the SEQureDX test was effective in all 200 tested samples, with no false positives. The company said it plans to start a larger study later this year and launch the product in early 2009.
The stock rose $2.10, or 16.4 percent, to finish at $14.94, and earlier peaked at $15.25, its highest value since May 28, 2002. Shares have tripled in value since August.
Filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission Friday showed that Boston-based RA Capital Mangement's Biotech Fund bought 622,000 shares of Sequenom. According to Capital IQ, the company owned about 5.4 million shares, or a 12 percent stake in Sequenom, as of June 2.
Overall, trading was almost seven times heavier than average.
In a telephone interview, Oppenheimer analyst Kevin DeGeeter said that since the Down syndrome data was reported, "you have a number of institutions here that have bought significant shares."
In a Thursday client note, DeGeeter said SEQureDX is one of three highly profitable tests the company should launch over the next year. The others are tests that identify the gender of a fetus and identify RhD incompatibility.
Those products will help make Sequenom profitable by late 2009, he said.

SQNM has had a monster rise this year based on a potentially fundamental shifting development in the detection of Downs Syndrome in pregnancy. The current testing methodology is invasive (to the body) and can cause complications including miscarraige. Also the accuracy of the SQNM test seems to be vastly superior to the current methodology. Article Quote: "NO FALSE POSITIVES" There are tests for Down Syndrome already on the market, but, says Bassett, Sequenom's product removes prevailing concern about their accuracy.
Sequenom's test, called SEQureDX, screens a pregnant woman's blood for certain biomarkers from the unborn child to determine whether specific genes are functioning in a way that is linked to the syndrome. There have been lawsuits against physicians who have failed to detect the presence of Trisomy 21, the genetic variation that causes Down's -- yet another reason for improving the accuracy of such tests, says Bassett.
To validate its technology, Sequenom has announced results from 200 clinical studies that showed its test identified all Down Syndrome samples with "no false positives," says Bassett. Based on those findings, the company expects to launch a 10,000-patient study of SEQureDX in the second half of 2008 in preparation for the product's commercial launch in the second quarter of 2009.
Bassett predicts that if the big study validates earlier results, Sequenom's diagnostics could become the front-line test in this large diagnostics market.
$6-$8 billion potential? Sequenom CEO Harry Stylli says the SEQureDX test provides 99% accuracy in "sensitivity and specificity." In the U.S. alone, he says, where there are six million pregnancies each year, the potential market for Sequenom's test runs to about $1.5 billion to $3 billion. Worldwide, the potential could be up to $6 billion to $8 billion, he adds.
Peter Kolchinsky of RA Capital Management, which owns a 10% stake in Sequenom, says the test's value is enormous because the magnitude of the difference in accuracy when compared with existing tests "is so large." He considers it the Holy Grail to obstetricians who have been seeking a precise and noninvasive screening for Down Syndrome. Based on the millions of pregnant women each year in the U.S. who would surely opt for this more accurate test, he estimates that Sequenom will see sales of up to $2 billion by 2012. On that basis, he says the stock's potential is still underappreciated and ventures that the shares could again triple or quadruple from their current level in four years"

So we have a huge 'possibility' developing in the shape of the new test, and if it turns out to be as suggested then the stock price has plenty of upside potential to play. Even when we take into consideration the rise this year from the $5 lows. Biotechs have been one of the standout sectors recently and if we get any bullish market sentiment (longer than a few days) then SQNM is in the right place right time. I have a longer term view on this trade, but that can change depending on what happens from a technical perspective. Right now we have consolidation between $18 and $23, thus we can construct 2 possible buys - entry on the upside break or entry on the pullback to support. The $18 zone has both the 50ema and horizontal support coinciding so would make a great potential entry point. An upside volume backed break of the desending resistance a little riskier but also an excellant set-up. The standby trade plan therefor a bit complicated as detailed below.
Standby Trade Plan:
Buy SQNM the day following a close above descending support
or
Buy SQNM if it trades at $18.50 or below
Update:
The current market is not nice, but SQNM is. Showing high relative strength yesterday as most of the market (led by the financials) was having a bad time.
The standby trade plan was watching for either a pullback or breakout play, looks like we have the breakout play shaping up on decent enough volume. The stock closed at a 52 week high, touching $23 intraday and pulling back from there to close $22.33. Now we could wait for a break of $23 to really confirm the 5 weeks or so of consolidation are over and a new bullish phase is starting, but I prefer to act decisively and enter on the break of short term descending resistance per my chart.
I note that SQNM has gained a large short sold position against it. Around 20% of the float is sold short (9M shares), this is normal for stocks that have had such a huge run up, people take short positions based on their feeling that it MUST come down because it has gone UP SO much. I view such a short position as a positive to fuel further upside, that is very often how stocks keep upward momentum despite what people might think.
Trade Plan:
BUY SQNM at or around the open
Update:
A lot of volatility in the trading day for SQNM, decent volume, but ultimately the upside action couldn't hold and the chart is left with a somewhat ugly and bearish candle representing a breakout attempt liable to fail. The overall market sentiment obviously weighing on the momentum.
Anyway, 1 candle whilst worth noting, is not a reason to change my view on SQNM. We have a lot of support in the $20 and above area and we need to give this continuation pattern a chance to play out. As I said before the market is ugly but SQNM is a standout bull.
Trade Plan:
HOLD SQNM
Update:
The last 2 sessions for SQNM from a candlestick analysis point of view didn't look too great as it tried to breakout on decent volume but failed. That said even though the breakout didn't stick the price action didn't contravene any notable support areas so I had no concerns as to the underlying bullish pattern in play. With the general market cooperating and the biotech sector in line I see the $23 resistance zone being put behind SQNM very shortly.
I note Lazard Capital have SQNM as a BUY with a target I think around $34, I will get a copy of their research and post it here when available.
Trade Plan:
HOLD SQNM
Update:
Just a quick update, nothing fundamentally changed and technically it is hanging around the breakout point as it was previously. I am very comfortable with the way SQNM is acting in this consolidation / near breakout action.
I mentioned before there was a buy recommedation from Lazard Capital and a $34 price target. That report is attached at the end of this update. Basically they summize that SQNMs Downs test will be approved by ACOG and sooner than perhaps expected. It is a very short and to the point report.
No change to the trade plan required at this stage.
Trade Plan:
HOLD SQNM
Update:
SQNM is the stock I am most comfortable with on the long side currently. It is grinding its way higher in the face of an ugly overall market. Yesterday it broke out early on, but succumbed to selling later in the day (although only a small decline on a relative basis)
I won't put a hard stop in just yet with SQNM, the chart clearly shows the support area. The stock holding the $22 zone in this environment for me is very bullish longer term.
Trade Plan:
HOLD SQNM
Update:
SQNM continues to show great relative strength, I see it holding onto`these new highs (and indeed breaking to new 52 week highs shortly).
There are no changes in terms of fundamental news. We know that on 23rd and 24th Sept they will be presenting an analyst and investor briefing day (see link below) which might act as another cataylst to push the momentum upwards.
Presentation dates: http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/sequenom-present-september-investment-conferences/story.aspx?guid=%7B99427337-E6B3-494A-BA3F-39FD6A652167%7D&dist=hppr (http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/sequenom-present-september-investment-conferences/story.aspx?guid=%7B99427337-E6B3-494A-BA3F-39FD6A652167%7D&dist=hppr)
Trade Plan:
HOLD SQNM
Update:
SQNM shows good support at the 50ema which was tested yesterday just under $20.
The overall market is in a terrible state, SQNM is still holding up well (relatively). It is time to put a stop in place to protect us from the influence of the negative market. Stop will be placed below the 50ema and outside 'usual' volatility range, not as low as tghe early Aug pivot low as I want that not to be tested.
Trade Plan:
HOLD SQNM with STOP at $19.25

Sequenom Acquires Exclusive License to Digital PCR and Other Noninvasive Prenatal Diagnostic Intellectual Property
Tuesday September 16, 4:00 am ET
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sequenom, Inc. (Nasdaq: SQNM - News), a leading provider of genetic-analysis solutions, today announced that it has acquired exclusive worldwide rights (excluding Hong Kong) to digital PCR and other noninvasive prenatal diagnostic intellectual property from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. These newly acquired rights expand Sequenom's existing, broad intellectual property portfolio of noninvasive prenatal diagnostic methods using fetal nucleic acids obtained from a maternal sample. Financial terms were not disclosed.
"Over the past several years, we have acquired numerous intellectual property assets to protect our plans to enter the noninvasive prenatal genetic diagnostic market and this license is another important addition to our broad and deep IP position in this area," said Harry Stylli, Ph.D., Sequenom's President and Chief Executive Officer. "Our intellectual property includes exclusive rights to the widely recognized and pioneering work of Professor Dennis Lo of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and others. This intellectual property is platform-independent and provides Sequenom exclusivity for development and commercialization of noninvasive prenatal tests on any platform. This agreement expands our leadership position as we continue to advance our clinical development program and commercialization plans for our proprietary, noninvasive Trisomy 21 Down syndrome maternal blood test and other innovative prenatal diagnostic tests."
The exclusive, technology-independent, digital PCR rights announced today, which were developed and validated on Sequenom's MassARRAY® platform and Fluidigm's platform, can be adapted for any of the digital PCR platforms that are available, and include the use of fetal nucleic acids obtained from a maternal sample, along with methods of analysis for noninvasive Down (trisomy 21), Edward (trisomy 18), Patau (trisomy 13) and other chromosomal aneuploidy syndrome diagnoses or other autosomal recessive disorders (e.g. cystic fibrosis, thalassemia, Ashkenazi Jewish diseases) utilizing digital PCR.
Sequenom's Proprietary Noninvasive Prenatal Diagnostics
Sequenom's commercial opportunities in prenatal diagnostics are built upon its SEQureDxTM technology and are enabled by the pioneering inventions and associated intellectual property rights that it has exclusively licensed from Isis Innovation Ltd., the technology transfer company of the University of Oxford, as well as The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Sequenom's portfolio of noninvasive prenatal diagnostic patent rights and patent applications is platform-independent, includes genetic-analysis methods using circulating cell-free fetal nucleic acids from maternal samples, and also includes a portfolio of methylation and nucleic-acid markers. Sequenom is actively expanding its intellectual property position with new technology and new territories. Because Sequenom's license rights are platform-independent, the rights provide exclusivity (with the narrow exception in Europe for real time-PCR-based Rhesus D tests) for development and commercialization of noninvasive prenatal tests on any platform and are not limited to the Company's MassARRAY platform.

Update:
Although we stopped out of SQNM a few days back amid all the volatility and uncertainty that is happening, I am still keeping it on close watch for potential re-entry on any strength that may materialise.
They have an investors and analysts meeting On Sept 23rd which could well catalyse upside movement.
No trade plan, just watching for now.
Update:
Indeed SQNM released more positive results from their clinical trials of the downs syndrome test after hours yesterday. This news has spiked the price in pre market just under $25 (it closed less than $21 so a move of 20%+).

What a difficult situation, the way I see it is it has gapped into resistance (52 week high zone) and will perhaps struggle from here to breakout. Basically I see it pulling back into the gap it will create before breaking to new all time highs again (most gaps do fill).
Based on this thought process I am not comfortable entering at the prices that are appearing in pre market. I prefer to wait and look for pullback / consolidation following todays reaction to the news.
This may be a bad decision as the market may run up and away past $25 today, we shall see.

This is what the current market is doing to us, if the market weren't so horrible I would have played the entry as a potential breakaway gap up, which indeed it looks like it may turn into. Fantastic day for SQNM, I am hopeful we can perhaps enter in the next consolidation phase, the market can still get involved here and pour cold water on any good move.

Hey Oliver,
No, not yet, but I am definately watching and interested in the $21 zone.
I am starting to think we 'may' be reaching some sort of tradeable bottom in the market (still with short term outcomes though). Fear is SO high (look at the VIX chart) that perhaps an upward fast and quick bounce is around the corner.
not good for SQNM.....
Safer prenatal Down's syndrome test found in U.S.
Mon Oct 6, 2008 5:00pm EDT
By Will Dunham
WASHINGTON, Oct 6 (Reuters) - A prenatal blood test can be used to determine if an unborn baby has Down's syndrome without the small risk to the fetus posed by invasive testing methods such as amniocentesis, U.S. researchers said on Monday.
Researchers led by Stephen Quake of Stanford University in California created a way to look for the extra chromosomes that cause Down's and similar birth detects in the tiny amounts of fetal DNA that circulate in the mother's blood.
The test, which requires a small blood sample from the mother, is safer than amniocentesis, in which a needle is stuck into the uterus, and can be done earlier in a pregnancy.
Down's syndrome, which causes mental retardation and other problems, is caused when a child has three copies instead of the normal two of chromosome 21.
The test also detects other chromosomal conditions such as Edward syndrome, which kills half of babies in the first week of life and Patau syndrome, which kills more than 80 percent of children in infancy.
Quake's team demonstrated the accuracy of the new genetic test in a small study involving 18 women.
It accurately identified the nine women with a Down's syndrome pregnancy and three others with fetuses with different chromosomal disorders, the researchers wrote in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
"It's the first universal, noninvasive test for Down syndrome. So this should be the first step in putting an end to invasive testing procedures like amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling," Quake said in a telephone interview.
Blood tests for pregnant women like the alpha-fetoprotein test can find potential signs of a chromosomal disorder such as Down's, but cannot diagnose it with certainty.
Quake said such tests serve as only "indirect and weak predictors of what's going on."
For a definitive determination, women must have an invasive diagnostic procedure such as amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling. This is done typically after the 15th week of pregnancy.
These procedures carry a small risk -- roughly 1 percent -- of causing a miscarriage or birth defects.
Because of that, their routine use has been mostly by women age 35 and older at higher risk for having Down's syndrome babies. Scientists have been working for years to devise safer, noninvasive tests suitable for any pregnant woman.
Quake said the new test also could be administered much earlier in a pregnancy than amniocentesis or CVS -- potentially as early as five weeks after conception. And the results are back within a couple of days, instead of two to three weeks. Some women terminate the pregnancy when they learn the fetus has Down's syndrome but others, including Republican U.S. vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, do not.
Quake said the new test could be widely available in two or three years, and could become a routine prenatal test of a baby's health. Quake said the next step is a larger study involving hundreds of women. Stanford University has filed a patent on the test and two companies are negotiating for the licensing rights, Quake said. He said he is has been hired as a consultant for both companies, which he declined to identify.
San Diego-based Sequenom Inc (SQNM.O: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) is also working on a Down's syndrome blood test using a different approach. (

Sequenom - genetics and molecular diagnostics.
01-Dec-08 Sequenom: Next-generation noninvasive diagnostic technology shown to accurately detect fetal down syndrome in first trimester of pregnancy.
25-Nov-08 Rodman & Renshaw believes SQNM may soon have new additions to their non-invasive prenatal diagnostic empire. They say initial proof of concept for a test of monogenetic diseases (diseases caused by one gene) such as cystic fibrosis, beta-thalassemia, and others was published yesterday in The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. They note that on September 15, SQNM acquired exclusive world-wide rights to digital PCR and other non-invasive diagnostic intellectual property from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Firm anticipates SQNM to begin clinical testing for certain monogenetic diseases by the end of next year, once procedures have been optimized. For cystic fibrosis alone, they believe the market potential for such a test could approach $1 bln. Potential revenue from such tests have not been factored into their financial projections and will begin to be incorporated as the development path becomes more clear.
17-Nov-08 Lazard says they continue to believe that SQNM's platform for non-invasive prenatal diagnostics will change medicine and that the co is making ample progress beyond Down syndrome. ... With the 800+ sample catalyst scheduled for Jan. 28, firm suspects many investors are currently on the sidelines planning to buy beforehand. With 21% and 35% runs on the day of prior data presentations, they expect the stock to creep up in advance of the data, and encourage buyers to get in now.
Buy signal...
Playing on the technical aspect...current cycle is bullish.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Very Promising Developments With Widespread Use in Diagnostics.
If we can immediately grasp the relevance of the recent
reports from Sequenom. What I have determined is that SQNM appears to
be developing products that will transform the future of diagnostics.
They have convinced me that they have developed a screen for Down
Syndrome that is far better than current methods. It is less
invasive, and at least as effective. It has good sensitivity and
specificity. Futhermore, their recent report regarding assessing the
methylation status of DNA is very impressive. Methylation of DNA is
our cells' way of regulating how readily it is expressed. In other
words, methylation of DNA is related to many diseases, probably
several of which have not yet been identified. Hypomethylation of DNA
is the mechanism of action of some currently used chemotherapy, and
SQNM's ability to test methylation status is promising for determining
the efficacy of anticancer drugs targeted at such epigenetic
properties (i.e., methylation or acetylation). SQNM's minor flaw in
their efficacy report means very little to me, and I am actually quite
impressed that they would highlight the error before anyone else.
This means a lot for integrity. To summarize, I am confident that
Sequenom will be a dominant force in the area of molecular diagnostics
in the near future.

UPDATE 2-Sequenom delays Down Syndrome test; shares plunge
Wed Apr 29, 2009 6:42pm EDT
* Says delays launch of Down Syndrome test
* Cites employee mishandling
* Shares plunge 70 percent after the bell (Adds conference calls details, updates share movement)
April 29 (Reuters) - Sequenom Inc (SQNM.O) said employee mishandling of research and development test data and results has forced it to delay the launch of a Down Syndrome test, sending its shares plunging 70 percent.
The maker of genetic analysis products said it is no longer relying on previously announced research and development test data and results related to its SEQureDx technology.
Sequenom's SEQureDx tests the DNA of a foetus from a mother's blood in a non-invasive manner to see if the blood groups of the mother and the child are compatible.
The company said its board has formed a special committee of independent directors to oversee an independent investigation of the employees' activity related to the test data and results.
However, Sequenom also said its SEQureDx technology remained scientifically and technically sound. It said the company has not changed its plans to develop in parallel its RNA- and DNA-based methods for the Down Syndrome test and will endeavor to have a validated test in the fourth quarter of 2009.
"We are not back at square one. We have a lot of information and see virtue in both assay technologies," Sequenom's Chief Executive Harry Stylli said on a conference call.
Separately, the San Diego-based company forecast 2009 revenue in the range of $32 million and $35 million, compared with the Wall Street consensus of $55.2 million.
In heavy trading after the bell, Sequenom shares fell to $4.50. They closed at $14.91 Wednesday on Nasdaq. (Reporting by Shailesh Kuber in Bangalore; Editing by Anthony Kurian and Deepak Kannan)

You'd think I would learn!!!
I didn't though (buy it, that is). It's very active in pre-market. The temptation is there still.
Good thing I'm more interested in SCSS. ;) :D

Sequenom settles lawsuit for $14 million, stock
SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Diagnostic test maker Sequenom Inc. said Friday it will pay $14 million plus stock to settle a class action securities lawsuit over the mishandling of study data on a potential test for Down syndrome.
The company said the $14 million will be funded through insurance proceeds. Also, the company agreed to issue a number of shares to the plaintiffs after the settlement gets court approval amounting to 9.95 percent of Sequenom's outstanding stock.
As of Dec. 23, the company had 61.7 million common shares outstanding
Sequenom admits no liability and said it is settling the lawsuit to avoid "potentially lengthy, costly, distracting and time-consuming litigation.'
On April 29, Sequenom said study data and results for the SEQureDx Down test could not be relied on due to "employee mishandling." SEQureDx appeared to be a promising test that was faster, cheaper, less invasive and less risky than other methods, like amniocentesis. Its results in preliminary studies were positive.
The announcement sent shares plunging, with the stock losing well over half its value.
In September, the company forced out four executives and three other employees, including its president and CEO and the executive in charge of research and development. The shake-up followed a company investigation into the mishandling of test results. Each employee denied any wrongdoing, and the company said it did not discover any deliberate wrongdoing.
Instead, Sequenom had said it did not put adequate protocols and controls in place. Some employees were not adequately supervised.
It moved to create new disclosure protocols and procedures and give employees more training in ethics and scientific procedures, and make new rules for the conduct of research and development and clinical studies.
The suit was pending in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.
Shares of Sequenom rose 21 cents, or 5.1 percent, to $4.36 in morning trading. The stock has traded between $2.55 and $25.99 over the last 52 weeks.
UPDATE 2-Sequenom in $14 million settlement over test delay
* Lawsuit arose after test data mishandled
* Sequenom shares fell 75.7 pct after initial disclosure
* Sequenom to issue shares; insurance proceeds fund accord
* Shares of Sequenom rise 5 pct
NEW YORK, Jan 15 (Reuters) - Sequenom Inc (SQNM.O), a
diagnostics testing and genetic analysis company, said it would
pay $14 million to settle an investor class-action lawsuit
arising from mistakes in the development of a prenatal test for
Down Syndrome. The lawsuit followed a 75.7 percent plunge in Sequenom
shares last April 30, after the company said it would delay the
launch of the SEQureDx prenatal test, citing "mishandling" of
research and development test data by employees. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission later opened a
probe into the matter, and the San Diego-based company has said
it has held talks with federal prosecutors in California and
the FBI. Sequenom said insurance proceeds will fund the settlement.
It also plans to issue shares equal to 9.95 percent of the
number outstanding to the plaintiffs. The lead plaintiff is the Los Angeles City Employees'
Retirement System pension fund. Sequenom did not admit liability, but said the accord lets
it avoid the cost and distractions of litigation. It did not
immediately respond to a request for further comment. Shares of the company were up 21 cents, or 5.1 percent, at
$4.36 in morning trading on the Nasdaq. They closed at $14.91
last April 29, before problems with the test were revealed. "We view this as a clear positive for the stock," Barclays
Capital analyst C. Anthony Butler wrote. "This has been a major
overhang and an impediment to raising capital, which the
company needs to do this year." Down Syndrome is a chromosomal disorder that can result in
impaired cognitive ability and abnormal facial features. In September, following an independent investigation,
Sequenom said it had determined that test data "included
inadequately substantiated claims, inconsistencies and errors,"
some of which were reported publicly "due to the deficiencies
in our disclosure controls and procedures." At the time, the company did not say whether it believed
data was defective because of carelessness or because it was
fabricated. It fired Chief Executive Harry Stylli, senior research
official Elizabeth Dragon and three others, and the company's
chief financial officer resigned. Stylli and Dragon are among the defendants who agreed to
settle with the plaintiffs, a regulatory filing shows. The case is In re Sequenom Inc Securities Litigation, U.S.
District Court, Southern District of California, No. 09-00921.

Technically the current move of SQNM from 5 to 7.72 shows an accumulative share volume of 349 million shares traded.
Compare this to the DNDN move over a year ago this is a positive sign for the future price of SQNM.
DNDN started at 2.75 in March '09, it was 27 by Apr., 30 in Nov. and then based.
DNDN then moved from 30 to 57 between Jan. and Apr. of 2010 and showed the 351 million share vol. during this time.
If SQNM is showing similar share volume...we could see a move higher in share price in the near term, probably starting in Jan. of 2011.
DNDN has 144.33 mil. shares outstanding
SQNM has 76.33 mil. shares outstanding
The implication is not that SQNM will move just like DNDN did, only that volume is the gas in a stock tank that makes it move either higher or lower...thought is that a higher move is in the air.

SQNM Sequenom CMM Commences Pivotal Clinical Validation Study...
by PR Newswire Dec 22 2010 4:30PM
SAN DIEGO, Dec. 22, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Sequenom, Inc. (SQNM) today announced that the company's wholly-owned reference laboratory, the Sequenom Center for Molecular Medicine (Sequenom CMM), has authorized commencement of a pivotal clinical validation study. This validation study is designed to evaluate the clinical performance of the SensiGene T21 Laboratory Developed Test (LDT) for the detection of an overabundance in maternal blood of chromosome 21, which is associated with fetal chromosome 21 aneuploidy. Testing of the clinical specimens will be performed at the Sequenom CMM facility in San Diego.
In September 2010, Sequenom CMM completed an R&D "locked-assay" verification study and the results of this study have been accepted for publication by the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This "locked-assay" study was performed on the GAIIx sequencer (Illumina, Inc., CA). Subsequently the laboratory has been engaged in additional equivalency studies using the more advanced HiSeq 2000 sequencer (Illumina). Earlier this month, Sequenom CMM scientists and Sequenom's oversight committee reviewed data from the equivalency studies and authorized the start of the LDT clinical validation study using the HiSeq 2000.
Sequenom CMM-San Diego has received the first set of clinical specimens for the study and plans to start testing samples during the first week of January 2011.
"We are delighted that Sequenom CMM will initiate the LDT clinical validation study," said Harry F. Hixson, Jr., Ph.D., chairman and chief executive officer of Sequenom. "We remain very pleased with the results of the 480 sample R&D verification study that was completed in September 2010. Results from our just completed HiSeq 2000 equivalency study met pre-specified requirements that now allow us to proceed confidently with the validation study. The LDT clinical validation study is an important next step in confirming the trisomy 21 test performance in a large sample cohort."
Additionally, the company reports that Federal and State CLIA certificates were issued to Sequenom CMM-San Diego effective October 26, 2010.

May 6, 2011, 2:06 PM ET.Sequenom Flies Higher; Started at Buy at Auriga...
Biotech company Sequenom (SQNM) is up 13% today after posting better than expected earnings results and announcing that it had completed a study of its down syndrome diagnostic test. Auriga analyst Peter McDonald initiated coverage of the company on Friday at Buy, and wrote that the company is making progress on both its down syndrome test and a test for age related macular degeneration. But the stock's gain actually eclipsed McDonald's price target of $7, which he set before the market opened, by the afternoon as it jumped to $7.54.
"Overall, it was a good quarter for Sequenom and the next several months promise to be a busy for news flow," McDonald wrote. "Sequenom has $125 million in cash and equivalents, enough to support operations through 2012 in our view."
A study of its down syndrome test was finished ahead of schedule, McDonald noted, and the macular degeneration test is on track for a mid-year commercial launch.
