Lots of volume the last 2 days ,,2 and 3 x more normal. And yesterday....finished strong....and after the month of May,usually biotechs are weak.i will take a small position today..the "1.118 harmonic is $1.93..any lower then i will sell and be safe
The stock is on a downtrend. Can't buy stocks that are going down. But I wish you all the luck, I wish I buy this stock at a higher price when she's in an uptrend.

Have a look to the volume VION was traded on friday.
How many days in the last half year we have seen such an enormous volume?

Hi !
VION on my filters tonight ;)
Love the chart:
Yep agree. This'll get to $3 in a hurry, nice move out of flag following trend break.
nice chart !
thanks to Ramsburg and
[email protected] for the charts. ;D
Volume is picking up a bit,,,I would like to see more then just 2 back -to back days of 1 million shares traded.though..The last time was in june04.and april04..biotechs were hot. I will post some harmonics next.
I am starting to like this play. Picked it up on my radar today. May look to get in tomorrow.
VION....Nice move last few days no doubt.....However I dont see this stock going much above the $2.75 - $2.90 level on this break out......Look for the stock volume to dry up and a temp pullback in this area to consolidate......Lots of losers brought this stock down and lots of resistance going back........will watch and on pullback to the $2.40 - 2.50 level and (IF) buy volume starts coming in I might take a position........If stock runs off and leave me here I will find another, just that simple....Right? Do your on DD though......and Happy trading!
Bill the Bull
K,,Here my thoughts on this,,going back to VION last November.high..i came up with these harmonics...stress points...=.886 harmonic..$2.39....the next is a Lucas harmonic which usually I find to be quite accurate,,=.854...$2.49...next is a fibo ..=.786..$2.71....next is a SS harmonic...707..$2.96...I see a double bottom,,2 low is higher then the first which is a postive,,,nice Candle,,,a modified Bull Hammer....TSF indicator is positive at the moment,so here what I think...i agree with gabillh that there could be a slight retracement,,but it you bought it at the bottom you are ahead on profits..i say if you want to buy then wait till it hits 2.39....then there is some extra room to work with .just my thoughts...Good Luck to anybody who is in.. :)
VION........Thats some heavy stuff there "weightlifter" pardon the pun.....LOL
Everything you are saying I agree with, however not everyone understands it all.....not even I, But the $2.39 is too precise.....I'll stick with a retest to the $2.40 - $2.50 level....(You know we both may be wrong) so I still advise everyone to do the DD on their own....wouldnt want to have someone mad at me.....but in doing their own, they can keep this in mind..Roger?
happy trading Bill the Bull
"Harmonics" are for lack of better terms,a expanded Fibonacci system.I find them better for several reasons.#1 At least for me,I find Fibo a little too limited and vague on expansions and break outs.when to sell.#2 They are different ratios at times from the normal fibo.,and at times I find them to be more accurate.#3 For me i dont like to use the 50 or 200 MA to confirm buys and sells.I rather use one of these,,especially if the current wave is say for example 10 days,i still will look at the MA but they do lag at times..#4 I use Harmonics for exact stops,,,At least for me I find that if put I in a stop its based on my own emotions and feelings,at times i will be a little too quick to sell. When I use a harmonic as a stop,All my subjective feelings are taken out of the evaluation process..I agree with you ,nothings perfect.Other wise I would have made my fortune by now and be sitting anywhere else instead of being in front of this computer lol ;) :D
Bought VION today at 2,55, thanks for this good pick, I like it. :-*
Think it will double in a few months, SP crossed above the weekly 10 SMA,

SOME FUNDAMENTALS ABOUT INSTITUTIONAL OWNERSHIP

You can see some interesting facts about increased or decreased institutional ownership.
The "Top25" holders in VION held 29,54 Mio Shares.

> 10 decreased Pos./ 4.177.701 Shares were sold in last actions

The volume is really light for a stock pushing out of the top band but still to watch as it may improve with BO at 2.90 but note the 200-day EMA overhead

- HEAVY INSIDER BUYING
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/it?s=VION (http://finance.yahoo.com/q/it?s=VION)
The April 11, 2007 announcement of the hiring of Dr. James Tanguay, Ph.D. as the Company's senior management team as Vice President, Chemistry, Manufacturing & Control, and heavy recent insider buying suggest that VION is anticipating that the FDA will approve its Cloretazine® (VNP40101M) drug candidate which is in late-stage clinical trials for the treatment of acute myelogenous leukemia.
The key paragraphs of that announcement follow:
Dr. Tanguay was formerly Vice President, Technical Operations at Kos Pharmaceuticals, acquired by Abbott Laboratories in 2006 for $3.7 billion. From 2003 until recently, he was responsible for strategic planning and administration of all domestic and international commercial manufacturing, testing and distribution. In 2005, Kos Pharmaceuticals reported net sales of over $725 million from multiple products.
Alan Kessman, Chief Executive Officer said, "We are extremely pleased to have Jim Tanguay joining Vion to lead our manufacturing operations. His experience helping build Kos Pharmaceuticals through the initial commercialization of its products, and until its eventual sale to Abbott Laboratories, will be directly applicable to what we are trying to accomplish at Vion."
Dr. Tanguay commented, "I am excited to be joining a company which has a novel cytotoxic agent like Cloretazine® (VNP40101M) in late-stage clinical trials for the treatment of acute myelogenous leukemia. Furthermore, Vion has a number of other interesting anticancer products in various stages of development." He concluded, "I look forward to working with the whole team at Vion to bring new anticancer products to market with the goal of improving the treatment of cancer patients worldwide."
About VION:
Vion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is committed to extending the lives and improving the quality of life of cancer patients worldwide by developing and commercializing innovative cancer therapeutics. Vion has two agents in clinical trials. Cloretazine® (VNP40101M), a unique alkylating agent, is being evaluated in: (i) a Phase III trial in combination with cytarabine in relapsed acute myelogenous leukemia and (ii) a Phase II pivotal trial as a single agent in elderly patients with previously untreated de novo poor-risk acute myelogenous leukemia. An additional trial of Cloretazine® (VNP40101M) as a single agent in small cell lung cancer is also underway. Triapine®, a potent inhibitor of a key step in DNA synthesis, is being evaluated in clinical trials sponsored by the National Cancer Institute. In preclinical studies, Vion is also evaluating VNP40541, a hypoxia-selective compound, and hydrazone compounds. The Company also is seeking development partners for TAPET®, its modified Salmonella vector used to deliver anticancer agents directly to tumors. I agree with you 100%. I am not selling one share until VION gets FDA approval for Clorezantine to cure Leukemia. Response rates at high as 50% are unheard of. THe FDA hass approved many drugs for leukemia with that response rate. Furthermore, Clorezantine has an excellent safety profile. VION in a few months will be a double-digit stock IMO.
Lots of talk about VION's volume and price action today. Some believe that some results of VION's Phase 2 small-cell lung cancer trials be presented in June1 at the ASCO annual meeting might have leaked. Apparently this has been happening lately and it is affecting the stocks involved positively and negatively.
http://www.thestreet.com/_yahoo/newsanalysis/biotech/10357592.html?cm_ven=YAHOO&cm_cat=FREE&cm_ite=NA
It is very possible that the results of Cloretazine are indeed positive and consistent with Phase I results in terms of safety and effectiveness.
Her is one of the commentaries on today's surprising rally:
http://biohealthinvestor.com/2007/05/biowatch-alert-vion-jumps-on-strong.html
Vion Crushed After Study Halted
Vion Pharmaceuticals (VION - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr - Rating) plummeted 56% Wednesday morning after it announced that a late-stage trial for the leukemia drug Cloretazine has been suspended.
The company halted enrollment and further treatment in the Phase III trial of Cloretazine, which is used for patients with relapsed adult myelogenous leukemia, on the recommendation of the study's Data Safety Monitoring Board.
After an interim analysis, the board felt the advantage of the treatment could be compromised by the mortality rate observed in the study.
"There will be a thorough analysis of all the data to date from this trial, and we will base any decision on the continuation, possible modification or termination of the study on the available data," said Chief Executive Alan Kessman.
Vion's shares plunged $1.10, to 91 cents, in premarket trading.
OUCH!!!!!
This came very unexpectedly but that is the risk with biotech companies... :(
Yes indeed. But like i said before. I am a long-term VION investor. This is a temporary setback as the CEO said yesterday. Furthermore, VION made the decision to Halt Phase 3 upon further review of the data. ...it was not mandated by the FDA. And it was not stopped either.
I expect a bounce going into ASCO.
That's how I view it too, as a temporary setback. There is still the phase II (also for AML) and of course the day VION announces the restart of the phase III trial with renewed data, the PPS should move back up to where it was before the crash.
The fact that they have double checked should give investors even more confidance that the company has made the right decision at this point in time and that they have acted with the best interest.
Cheers
VION management did the right thing by announcing the Phase III halt before ASCO. Otherwise, VION would steam roll heading into the conference (because there are already indications that the data they will present will be excellent) and it would lilely explode clear into the $3+ area. Had the company dropped the bomb after ASCO, they would be hit with many lawsuits and be considered as pumper/dumpers etc.
Since VION is now so oversold, has $1/share cash, a significant cancer drug pipeline (not including the halted program), and is about to present great data on 2 clinical studies at ASCO, I expect a 50 - 70% bounce within 2 weeks.
I also believe that VION, upon careful review, will be given the green light to resume the Phase II programs...maybe with some changes here and there. VION management believes Cloretazine by itself has an excellent long-term safety profile, and that's what I've herd through friends that work at M. D. Anderson hospital in Houston.
Right now trading is being controlled by hedge funds and skillful MMs. After they accomplished their objectives (steal shares from impatient and fearful retail investors) they will be the catalyst for the inevitable bounce.
BTW, there was a trade of 1.6M shares AH yesterday.
Cheeers!
HEADS UP...THIS COULD BE SIGNIFICANT FOR VION....
NOTE: THESE CLINICAL RESULTS WILL BE PUBLISHED IN JUNE, 2007...THIS IS UNRELATED TO VION's 2 ASCO PRESENTATIONS NEXT WEEK.

Cloretazine (VNP40101M), a new sulfonylhydrazine alkylating agent, has demonstrated broad-spectrum anti-tumor activity in preclinical studies. In this study, Cloretazine was evaluated both as a monotherapy and in combination with fludarabine in murine tumor and human tumor xenograft models. Cloretazine significantly inhibited the growth of subcutaneously implanted tumors, including B16F10 murine melanoma in C57BL/6 mice, and H460 human lung carcinoma and WiDr human colon carcinoma in athymic nude CD1 mice.
The inhibition of tumor growth by Cloretazine was dose dependent, increasing from 42.2 to 87% as the dose escalated from 100 to 150 mg/kg. Cloretazine showed equivalent efficacy but lower toxicity compared to cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan) in these models. The combination therapy, consisting of a single dose of 10 mg/kg Cloretazine plus five doses of 70 mg/kg fludarabine, given every other day intraperitoneally, significantly increased the long-term survival of BDF1 mice bearing the L1210 murine leukemia.
On Day 65 post-tumor implantation, the combination therapy yielded a 90% survival rate compared to 40% for Cloretazine alone and 0% for fludarabine alone.Read again..."90% survival rate"....and ..."equivalent efficacy but lower toxicity compared to cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan) in these models."

I believe that these developments are even more significant than the ASCO results that will be published next week.
This study says that VION's Cloretazine is very effective in inhibiting the growth of several types of tumors ...with an excellent safety profile....if fact the study concludes that Cloretazine is more effective and less toxic than Citoxan which sells in the $$billions/year!!!
VION may rock and roll this week. The following is the abstract of the main paper to be presented by VION at the ASCO meeting. Should have a bullish PR is the morning.
phase II trial of VNP40101M in patients with relapsed or refractory small cell lung cancer (SCLC) with or without brain metastases.
Sub-category:
Small Cell Lung Cancer
Category: Lung Cancer
Meeting: 2007 ASCO Annual Meeting
Journal of Clinical Oncology, 2007 ASCO Annual Meeting Proceedings Part I. Vol 25, No. 18S (June 20 Supplement), 2007: 7724

Abstract:
Background: Relapsed or refractory SCLC patients (pts) have a poor prognosis. Median survival at relapse is 2-3 months; brain metastases (mets) are common. Alkylating agents have demonstrated activity in SCLC. Cloretazine is a new alkylator that is active against selected alkylating agent resistant tumor cell lines. Xenograft models show distribution across the blood-brain barrier. This study investigates VNP40101M safety and activity in SCLC patients who have relapsed or are refractory to standard 1st line chemotherapy. Methods: Pts are entered in 2 groups based on response to prior chemotherapy: sensitive relapse (chemotherapy-free interval >3 months); or resistant/refractory (chemotherapy-free interval <3 months). Eligibility criteria include: measurable or evaluable disease; life expectancy of >2 months; and ECOG PS of 0-2. Pts with brain mets are eligible. 31 pts received VNP40101M IV at a starting dose of 125 mg/m2/wk × 3, every 6 weeks. Due to a high incidence of grade 3-4 thrombocytopenia (34%), an amended protocol reduced the dose of VNP40101M to 100 mg/m2 at the same schedule. 13 pts received the reduced dose. Pts are evaluated by RECIST criteria after each 6-week cycle. Results: 44 of 87 planned pts have been treated at 7 sites. Of 41 evaluable pts, 21 patients have sensitive relapse disease, and 20 have resistant/refractory disease. Median age is 64 years (44-86). Median number of cycles received is 1 (1-3). Grade 3-4 thrombocytopenia was seen in 11/31 pts at the 125 mg/m2 dose and 3/13 pts at the 100 mg/m2 dose. Gr 3-4 non-hematologic toxicity is rare, except for fatigue (10%) and GI effects (10%).
The response rate (PR) is 6/21 (29%) in the sensitive relapse group, and 1/20 (5%) in the resistant/refractory group. 2/6 PRs, in the sensitive relapse group, occurred at the reduced dose level. 16 pts had brain mets at study entry. Of these, there were 3 PRs (2 with measurable regression of brain mets) and 3 stable diseases.
Conclusions: The study is ongoing to confirm efficacy and safety. VNP40101M has activity against SCLC in the 2nd line setting including pts with brain metastases; further study is warranted.
KEYS: RESPONSE RATE OF 29% IN ONE GROUP/STUDY CONFIRMS EFFICACY AND SAFETY

VION PRESENTS EXCITING RESULTS AT ASCO.......
VION'S CLOREZATINE PHASE II SMALL CELL LUNG CANCER TRIALS SHOW EXCELLENT RESULTS......A SECOND PAPER USING CLOREZATINE FOR PEDIATRIC BRAIN TUMORS WILL BE PRESENTED THIS AFTERNOON..
REGARDING PHASE II SMALL CELL LUNG CANCER TRIALS:
Dr. F. Anthony Greco, Director of the Sarah Cannon Research Institute in Nashville, Tennessee, commented, "Cloretazine® (VNP40101M) has impressive activity in small cell lung cancer in the second-line setting, including activity against brain metastases, and further evaluation is warranted."
Ann Cahill, Vion's Vice President, Clinical Development, said, "Our solid tumor clinical development plan for Cloretazine® (VNP40101M), which includes our Phase II trial in small cell lung cancer, and the recently completed trials in adult and pediatric brain tumors, is an important part of the overall clinical development program for this novel alkylating agent." Ms. Cahill added, "We are encouraged by this promising data in small cell lung cancer."
INTRO ON THIS AFTERNOON'S VION PRESENTATION:
Additional data from a Phase I trial conducted by the Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium of Cloretazine® (VNP40101M) as a single agent in pediatric brain tumors will be presented at the ASCO Annual Meeting in poster U1 in S Hall A2 at the McCormick Place Convention Center on Monday, June 4, 2007 from 1 to 5 p.m.
http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/070604/nym064.html?.v=74
Recent data, yet to be published, shows remarkable Clorezatine activity in many types of cancer:

VION has lots of potential. During last weeks CC they mentioned an NDA filing for a ph2 trial which they are working on and that they are looking for a partnership.
If any of these catalysts will be announced (and my guess is within a couple of weeks) then this stock will be over $1.
