BUSINESS SUMMARY
Medical Properties Trust, Inc. operates as a real estate investment trust (REIT) in the United States. The company acquires and develops healthcare facilities, and leases the facilities to healthcare operating companies. It also makes mortgage loans to healthcare operators secured by their real estate assets. The company's facilities include rehabilitation hospitals, long-term acute care hospitals, regional and community hospitals, women's and children's hospitals, and ambulatory surgery centers, as well as other ancillary facilities. As of December 31, 2005, it owned 14 facilities in California, Colorado, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Texas; 3 facilities under development; and a mortgage loan. Medical Properties Trust has elected to be treated as a REIT for federal income tax purposes and would not be subject to federal income tax, if it distributes atleast 90% of its REIT taxable income to its shareholders. The company was founded was founded by Edward K. Aldag, Jr., William G. McKenzie, Emmett E. McLean, and R. Steven Hamner in 2002. Medical Properties Trust is based in Birmingham, Alabama.

This is a great stock still moving on up slowly. Im going to load the boat on this one for a long term hold. The div. is BIG and just keeps increasing. The company has tons of room to grow, and its in a industry that is more resistant to a recession healthcare. Great pick Terliso I just noticed you posted this a ways back. I swinged some shares of MPW for like a 3% gain, but I want back in ;). Going to load back up hopefully tomorrow. Looks like MPW is ready to move up soon ;D. Earnings are out August 10th!
Buying ahead of earnings on this one :). MPW building up a strong base at 12.20-12.30, it looks like it may blast through the 12.30s and upward after earnings. A lot of accumulation going on.

Earnings conference call schedule for 11am tomorrow. Should be good ;) stock is up to 12.32 on good volume so far.

Earnings were more neutral then anything, but they lowered guidance so im not sure where this can trade in the short term. Will listen in to see how the earnings call goes.
Looking good MPW trading up the conference call sounds good on there future prospects.
Nice new 52wk high and a close at 13 ;D. Should be trading at 14.00s by sometime next month. Cant wait for the nice divy payout ;).

High volume today almost 2 times average... Up over 2.33% today. Got some big buyers jumping in. I added more MPW this morning ;D going to ride this one up as long as the divy keeps raising and earnings guide up im in.
3 Times the normal (3m) volume average today. I saw some big blocks traded today looks like an institution likes what it sees and is buying a sizable position.
MPW nearing a 52wk high on higher then usual volume. Breakout today above 14.50 resistance. Next stop above 15 :)

MPW closed at a new all time high. This stock is on fire ;D, I think MPW has the potential to be a in the 20s soon... I feels like a $20 dollar stock to me, if the management keeps doing good with growing and raising the dividend hehe.

Big pullback for MPW today on no news. This could be a good point to enter a position, MPW is sitting on support atm.
MPW pulled back more today. I added more to my position at these prices in the low 14s. The risk to buy in today is pretty low considering most of this drop was due to the ex date for the dividend being december 12th.
Consolidating the gains made in the last few days :). Very low volume down day today, tested a new 52wk high this morning. Next week MPW may have a shot at a new 52wk high on some strong volume.
MPW trading back in the 15s, new 52wk highs are not far away. Earnings are coming out jan. 30th.

Just hit 15.90! MPW is on fire today was just up 5% for today! We may see 16 before the days end. Sold half my position in MPW at 15.80 going to try to re enter my other half when it pulls back a little.
I was looking at this over the weekend and became very curious based on the earnings and revenues growth, combined with the fairly low PE and great chart. Seemed like a recipe for sure success.
The chart continues to look good today, but did anyone else notice the ENORMOUS block traded at the end of the day today? This company trades well under a million shares a day, and there was a 3-4 million share block sold/bought near the close. :o
As has been mentioned, this company also carries a fancy dividend of $1.08, currently yielding 6.8%. If you're looking for a long term hold, that's obviously pretty nasty!
edit: this huge volume probably has something to do with the addition to the smallcap 600 index. please excuse my ignorance.
Its a great stock to own thats for sure. I would say by the end of 2007 we should be trading near $20. You can trade this stock nicely as well buying on all dips. I sold my core position today and yesterday and im looking to get back in the low 15s. Check out LTC as well if your interested in the medical REIT field it is around the same market cap and is undervalued and is like MPW, it also has over a 5% yield divy.
