NGA had a nice run with this news:
North American Galvanizing & Coatings Reports Record First Quarter 2006 Earnings
TULSA, Okla., April 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- North American Galvanizing & Coatings, Inc. (Amex: NGA - News) today reported quarterly net income of $982,000, or $.14 per basic share and $.13 per diluted share, for the first quarter of 2006, compared to net income of $97,000 or $.01 per basic and diluted share for the first quarter of 2005. Sales for the period were $15.4 million compared to $9.2 million for the prior year, a 66% increase.
NGA is down with the rest of the market but has started to recover and with the anticipation of this quarters numbers will likely trade higher. If NGA can meet or exceed last quarters numbers this stock may take off to new highs!
NGA Breakout!! ;D
High of $5.80 so far, support $5.40
Good day today for NGA ;D Closed at $5.56
I think todays run up may have been due in part to this news from AZZ another galvinizing company:
AZZ 1Q Profit Soars
Friday June 30, 7:41 am ET
AZZ 1st-Quarter Profit Nearly Doubles on Strong Bookings, Higher Prices
"Electrical and industrial products revenue increased by 9 percent to $31.5 million, while revenue from its galvanizing service segment grew 31 percent to $20.9 million."

Hopefully we will see new highs inb anticipation of similar results for NGA!
High volume day for NGA considering the short day.
The open was unusual, no trades for a minute or so then a 100 share trade at $6.50 which was the high of the day. NGA then traded in the 5.80 area up to 6.40 and came down the last few minutes to close at $6.05. Guess the mm's didn't want another white candle so they manipulated the open.
NGA is on many peoples radar now and I expect we will see new highs going into next week.
NGA rocks!! ;D ;D ;D

NGA is getting some volume now and has hit the HOD at $7.10- up 10% ;D
;)
Nice job on this one, boatguy! Applause.
This was looking like it might be forming the Right Shoulder of a BIG "nested" H&S Top, but it broke out of a W-Bottom, came back and re-tested the breakout, then MADE the 6.94 target yesterday.
Math:
5.68 high - 4.42 low = 1.26 points + 5.68 = Target: 6.94
Given the upward slope of the "possible" neckline, it still could be putting in a Right Shoulder here, but the upside takeout of 6.72, which was the high of the "nested" H&S Top, puts some pressure on the shorts.
Continued good luck!
Thanks Melf!

Boatguy,
Very nice! Good idea to bank some going into earnings.
You got a pennant breakout this morning, crossing
6.78 , which put 7.82 IN PLAY That put additional pressure on the shorts, so the combination could at least partially explain today's quick run-up into the mid-7s after the print of 6.79 (the breakout).
6.72 , you will remember, was the high of the Right Shoulder.
Good luck with your remaining position.

This chart is a good example of two things:
1. A short-term short squeeze on the upside takeout of a Right Shoulder (the 6.72 high in August)
2. "Take profits when targets get MADE."
The 7.82 target MADE, and was exceeded by seven cents on October 30, then they pulled the plug on it.
Down 30.3% from the 7.89 high! :o

North American Galvanizing & Coatings Reports Fourth Quarter and Fiscal 2006 Earnings
North American Galvanizing & Coatings, Inc. (Amex: NGA - News) reported today quarterly net income of $1,006,000, or $.12 per diluted share, for the fourth quarter of 2006 compared to quarterly net income of $254,000 or $.03 per diluted share, for the fourth quarter of 2005. For the year ended December 31, 2006, the company's net income was $4,535,000 or $.60 per basic share and $.58 per diluted share, compared to net income of $644,000 or $.08 per diluted share for 2005. The increase in net income is primarily a result of the increase in sales volume and average selling prices.
Interesting that the company is stressing that the increase in earnings is not due to just the increase in profits from forward market purchases ;)
"Pricing on the Company's zinc purchases during the three-months ended December 31, 2006 did not vary significantly from current market prices. Favorable impact from forward purchases of zinc at prices lower than current market contributed $2.9 million to operating income during the first six months of the year ended December 31, 2006. The Company's operating income did not benefit from forward market purchases during the fourth quarter."

This stock is doing nothing all of the sudden. Does anyone have any insights as to why it is fairing so poorly? I made out great on this stock a few months ago but now I am getting killed. When I look at the financials, it doesn't leap out at me if there is a fundamental reason for sucking so what is it driivng this down? Thanks in advance for any insights provided.
