Title: ANSV
Post by: David Randolph on May 10, 2005, 07:55:42 AM
Corgentech, Inc.. The Group's principal activity is the discovery, development and commercialization of a new class of therapeutics called transcription factor decoys, or TF decoys. (CGTK)

CGTK is a recent stock on the market. Its IPO was just about a year ago:

As you can see the company had two terrible announcements that provoke those two enormous gap downs. Price went down to the end of the earth, where there was a beautiful island:

With the stock down so much in the last few months, it only takes a small breeze, a tiny smell of good news to take this baby up for real. That happened yesterday:

Corgentech gets boost from positive pre-clinical data (http://www.marketwatch.com/news/newsfinder/pulseone.asp?siteid=mktw&dateid=38481.5794685185-835169694&)

I have to buy today at the open. I don't know if I'll win, if I'll lose, that thinking doesn't help me making trading decisions.

I dumped this, this morning.  I think it will be a while before this moves up.  I think a lot og bagholders selling as it moves up.

I Picked up TWTR to replace that position.  TWTR is hot today.  Hope it clears 3.

Humm, I still believe the stock will ultimately go higher - thinking this is just a consolidation phase. Not a lot of damage in the chart from the last day's decline:

The doji on Friday tells me the bears are undecided about selling more of CGTK. Bulls seem to have recharged batteries and will come back in force the next few days. We'll see ...
Title: Nice rebound on TWTR ...

... with a big white candle on Friday  ;)

But TWTR is bearish on the medium/long term chart, just be carefull with those resistance lines:

Good luck !

Dear Randolph,

I sincerely think you'll read my message. CGTK is good buy. I have seen this stock on 3stocksonfire.org for approx 20 days. I also bought this stock at same price but have seen the trading volume going down. The stock seems to hold pretty well but what is the chance of its uptick rise rather than downward meltdown. I am new to investing but have been impressed with this website.  Also, I have only seen buys for the stock. No one is selling. Does it translate to uptrend and what timeframe does it take typcially? I'll appreciate your current thoughts for CGTK.

Regards,
Dhiraj

... to the hospital with my son now (nothing serious), I won't be able to answer your posts before the close, but I'm not selling CGTK, at least not today. I'm expecting a white, long, marubozu anytime.

Bye  :)

Title: The island on CGTK just got bigger ...

... and that's a good thing. The more the stock accumulates at this zone (like I said, without technical damage), the more and the faster it will rise when it starts. I'm expecting a big, white candle anyday, which will signal strong advance.
Title: Some people got tired ...

... of holding CGTK and sold way down. But bulls came for the rescue and bid the stock up again to its acummulation zone. Maybe the exit of these weak hands will clear the way for the expected advance.
Title: The island grows larger and larger ...

... and we can see no end to it. But yesterday volume was the highest of the last 16 sessions, so maybe some resolution is coming.

Big movements take time to develop and just the fact that this falling knife has stop falling and held for so long makes me pretty convinced the next big move will be up, not down. But the market has the word, and he is always right.

will need to wait some more to get into it.

Still nothing new on CGTK. Such a tight range must be setting up a large move. I think that move will be up, but the market knows better. I'll wait for it to tell me.

Looks like the long awaited breakout I've been waiting on for months! But I'm curious about the reason, as I've seen no news on CGTK. Now the challenge is determining where it's going to top out....
Title: Re: CGTK: A Beautiful Island

how about there doesn't have to be a reason... or maybe the cash on the company is like 4$ per share, or the overhanging supply at 2.40-2.50 finally got taken out?

or people were willing to pay 20$ per share for this 6 months ago? who knows? the market has neither rhyme nor reason, imho. All I know is that I'm in this morning at 2.65 and I have no idea where this will end up. (Hopefully above 2.65, though ;) )

UPDATE 2-Anesiva's pain drug meets main goal; shares zoom
Tue Dec 16, 2008 12:40pm EST

experimental pain drug Adlea met the main goal of a late-stage trial, raising hopes that the tiny biopharmaceutical company may find a partner to further develop the drug and prompting a six-fold jump in its market value.

Anesiva should be able to go out and say that this is a drug that works and they should be able to attract a development partner sometime next year.

Adlea significantly reduced post-surgical pain in four to 48 hours in patients who underwent total knee-replacement surgery, compared with a dummy drug, in the late-stage trial.

The drug candidate also reduced the intake of opioid medication in patients, the company, whose market capitalization stood at about $2.9 million on Monday, said.

The drug candidate's success provides a break for Anesiva, whose market value has eroded by about $138 million since the start of the year.

In November, the company had withdrawn its pain drug Zingo from U.S. markets, citing manufacturing problems, and cut its workforce by 85 percent to 15 employees to preserve capital.

The latest trial data on Adlea could breathe new life into the struggling company, which has been looking for a partner for the pain drug.

Tuesday's announcement puts Anesiva back in the reckoning to find a partner, or license the drug. A partnership is necessary for the company to conduct an additional late-stage study to prove Adlea's efficacy.

"I would say that before the news today they weren't going to get anything. Today it is at least more likely that there will be a deal.

Last month, Anesiva said Adlea failed to reduce pain in four to 32 hours in patients who had surgery to remove bony lumps in the feet, and was looking for a partner to develop Adlea.

But the drug had showed efficacy in reducing pain in four to 48 hours after surgery in an earlier late-stage study.

Anesiva shares shot up to a high of 46 cents, before falling back to trade up 27 cents at 34 cents Tuesday on Nasdaq.

"At this point they don't have the luxury to run the next trial and wait around, and file and wait till 2010 or 2011 to get the drug on the market themselves.

Anesiva Phase 3 Trial of Adlea Meets Primary Endpoint to Significantly Reduce Pain After Total Knee Replacement Surgery
Tuesday December 16, 9:00 am ET

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Dec. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Anesiva, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANSV - News) today announced top-line results showing that the Phase 3 trial evaluating Adlea(TM), its long-acting, non-opioid analgesic drug candidate, achieved its primary efficacy endpoint of reducing post-surgical pain versus placebo (p=0.03) following total knee arthroplasty (TKA, or total knee replacement surgery) at four to 48 hours after surgery. The trial also met its key secondary endpoint with Adlea demonstrating a highly significant reduction in opioid medication consumption compared to placebo (p=0.005). Adlea is a long-acting, non-opioid drug candidate in development for the management of acute pain following orthopedic surgery.

The Phase 3 TKA trial, known as ACTIVE-2 (Assessment of highly purified Capsaicin To ImproVE pain management after orthopedic surgery), also showed that Adlea's safety profile of adverse events, wound healing, and wound sensory function were similar to placebo over the study duration.

"These compelling results confirm the analgesic contribution of Adlea during the most critical period following total knee arthroplasty with simultaneous opioid sparing effect, all without adding to the systemic side- effects commonly seen with opioids. These results suggest that Adlea has the potential to facilitate early rehabilitation in the knee replacement population," said William Houghton, M.D., Anesiva's senior vice president and chief medical officer.

"The ACTIVE-2 data convincingly validate the value of the Adlea asset and will support our plans to partner or license this product candidate," said Michael L. Kranda, Anesiva's president and chief executive officer.

"Over the past several months, we have revised the company's business model to significantly reduce our burn rate, and will achieve our goal of operating largely as a virtual company by year-end," Mr. Kranda said. "We now have retained a dedicated team ideally suited for Adlea clinical development and partnering within a cost structure that is appropriate for the current environment. With these positive developments, we look forward to rebuilding value for Anesiva through our virtual model, and through active partnering and licensing programs."

ACTIVE-2 Details

This multicenter, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial enrolled 217 patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty. Patients were randomized to receive either a single 60 mL dose of Adlea (0.25 mg/mL drug concentration) or placebo instilled into the surgical site immediately prior to wound closure. The primary efficacy endpoint was the area under the curve of patient pain scores, using a standard 0 to 10 numerical weighting system from four to 48 hours post-surgery. The study also evaluated rescue opioid consumption. Additional patient safety follow-up at two to six weeks after surgery demonstrated an advantage in pain management for Adlea versus placebo, with a similar safety profile.

Adlea Phase 3 Results in Bunionectomy Surgeries

A previous Phase 3 trial of Adlea, ACTIVE-1, in bunionectomy surgeries, demonstrated a highly statistically significant reduction in pain (p=0.004) from 4 to 48 hours post-surgery for Adlea-treated patients versus placebo, although the primary endpoint, pain at 4 to 32 hours post-surgery, narrowly failed to achieve statistical significance (p=0.07). The trial also achieved the key secondary endpoint of reducing opioid use for Adlea versus placebo (p=0.012) over the four to 32 hour period, and Adlea was well-tolerated.

How Adlea May Address the Need for Long-Acting Pain Relief

Adlea is a highly purified form of capsaicin (derived from chili peppers) that acts on TRPV1 receptors, expressed most densely in C-fiber neurons. Importantly, desensitization of the TRPV1 receptors blocks noxious pain with no effect on adaptive pain or position sense. Adlea generally has a short half-life of 1 to 2 hours. It is undetectable in the blood after 24 hours.

Adlea's short duration of systemic exposure (hours) relative to the long duration of analgesia may offer a safe, additive treatment option in the management of orthopedic post-surgical pain. Importantly, Adlea appears to have a safety profile that is largely similar to placebo, in studies performed to date.

About Total Knee Arthroplasty

Total knee replacement (also known as total knee arthroplasty) is generally performed in patients with end-stage osteoarthritis of the knee. These patients have disabling pain which imposes severe limitations on their mobility, and knee replacement is performed with the goal of relieving pain and restoring mobility and knee function. There were an estimated 565,000 total knee replacement procedures performed in the United States in 2006, and the number of replacements will continue to grow as the average age of the U.S. population increases and as these individuals conduct more active lives. The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons projects that approximately 3.5 million of these procedures will be done each year by 2030.

About Anesiva

Anesiva, Inc. seeks to be a leader in the development of novel pharmaceutical products for pain management. The company's lead product candidate is Adlea, a novel small molecule formulation of capsaicin that is currently in development for the management of acute pain following orthopedic surgeries. Adlea has been shown in previous clinical trials to provide extended pain relief after only a single administration in multiple indications for site-specific, acute and chronic, moderate-to-severe pain.

Anesiva is based in South San Francisco, CA. For more information, go to www.anesiva.com.
