I blinked and this one was gone.  Up over $2 and I can't type as fast as it moves.

Earnings are Thursday.  I'm in earlier today at $42.10 to hold for a few days at least.  I'm expecting a new high this week.

Volume took off as I'm trying to get this out.  My charts are not up-to-the-minute so they won't show this move.  Appreciate any current charts.  Thanks.

Another 5-Year supply deal , another all-time high... another BOOM :D

UPDATE 2-Dynamic reveals 5-year supply deal with GE
Mon Dec 5, 2005 02:09 PM ET
(Recasts first sentence, identifies GE as customer, updates stock action)
CHICAGO, Dec 5 (Reuters) - Metalworking company Dynamic Materials Corp. (BOOM.O: Quote, Profile, Research) on Monday said its AMK Welding division has entered a five-year supply agreement with General Electric Co. (GE.N: Quote, Profile, Research) , sending shares to an all-time high.

AMK will perform a range of welding, heat-treatment and nondestructive testing services on ground-based power turbine components, said Dynamic, a provider of explosion-welded clad metal plates and services. Annual production volumes associated with the deal will be subject to receipt of firm orders by GE's Energy business.

AMK will soon begin work on a significant expansion of its facility in South Windsor, Connecticut, in anticipation of production requirements related to the new supply agreement, Boulder, Colorado-based Dynamic said.

Dynamic shares rose to a new intraday trading high of $28.77, and were still up $4.50, or 18.6 percent, to $28.65 in afternoon trading on the Nasdaq stock market.

BOOM's Booming Ahead

Tuesday December 6, 3:10 pm ET
By W.D. Crotty (TMFWD40)

When I wrote about Dynamic Materials (Nasdaq: BOOM - News) in November 2004, the stock of the metallurgical bonding and metal cladding company had doubled -- in a day! BOOM proved to be an appropriate stock symbol. And now the stock has, once again, been booming over the past two days -- though not at breakneck rates.

On Monday, the company reported that its AMK Welding operation (5% of total sales last quarter) had received a five-year supply contract that would require a significant expansion of its manufacturing facility. Reuters later revealed that the deal was with General Electric (NYSE: GE - News), which is already an AMK customer. The news sent the stock up 17.1% for the day, and during the day it hit a new 52-week high.

Igniting the stock today is the announcement that the company received a $7.5 million order for clad metal plates to be used in a North American refinery project. The order, scheduled to be delivered in the first two quarters, indicates that the company is poised for a strong start in 2006. The order backlog already stood at $34.1 million at the end of last quarter (about 1.7 quarters of sales by last quarter's numbers, which is pretty high by historical standards).

The stock hit a new 52-week high this morning with a 13.8% gain, but it has subsequently backed off and is trading up 4.4% in mid-afternoon activity.

The AMK order is significant for a very simple reason: It indicates that business is finally accelerating in this division. But any order momentum is great because the company is already delivering high 18% operating margins and a strong 39.6% return on equity.

The one analyst who follows the company expected it to earn $1.04 a share in 2006, but that was before the announcements over the past two days. That looks like what I'd call a rich valuation at 28.3 times forward earnings, until you realize that last quarter's year-over-year revenue grew 67.7% and quarterly earnings grew 277.9%. Income from continuing operations improved by 126%.

Still, the company is in a cyclical business. Although the oil and gas, petroleum refining, and power generation markets (to name a few the company supports) look strong, investors would be wise to think twice before chasing the stock. Dynamic has acknowledged that recent results and growth have been fueled by robust market conditions and a successful turnaround, which it expects to moderate. When the cycle turns, what will the earnings prospects be for this company -- currently selling at 38 times trailing earnings?

Terlisa,

I have been holding BOOM long term. Yesterday it came down on this news:

http://us.rd.yahoo.com/finance/external/reuters/SIG=11vg30000/*http://yahoo.reuters.com/financeQuoteCompanyNewsArticle.jhtml?duid=mtfh33069_2006-04-27_14-02-52_n27436734_newsml

Would it be a good idea to add more at this level or sell because of this new?

Also CNXT and NWRE came down today. ADD or SELL? I have been long on both.

thanks

Dynamic Materials Reports Third Quarter Financial Results
Thursday October 25, 4:03 pm ET

BOULDER, CO--(MARKET WIRE)--Oct 25, 2007 --
Selected Highlights

--  Company reports third quarter EPS of $0.58 versus $0.30 in same
    quarter last year
--  Net income up 93% to $7.1 million versus Q3 last year
--  Sales increase 69% to $42.1 million versus comparable year-ago period
--  Explosive Metalworking backlog remains strong at $77.1 million

Dynamic Materials Corporation (DMC) (NasdaqGS:BOOM - News), a leading provider of explosion-welded clad metal plates, today reported financial results for its third quarter ended Sept. 30, 2007.

Sales for the third quarter increased 69% to $42.1 million from $24.9 million in the third quarter last year. Gross margin increased to 34% from 33% in the third quarter a year ago. Income from operations increased 72% to $10.6 million from $6.1 million in the comparable year-ago quarter. Net income increased 93% to $7.1 million, or $0.58 per diluted share, from $3.7 million, or $0.30 per diluted share, in the third quarter last year.

Explosive Metalworking

The Company's Explosive Metalworking segment reported third quarter sales of $40.3 million, up 72% from $23.5 million in the third quarter last year. Operating income increased 83% to $10.6 million from $5.8 million in the 2006 third quarter. Order backlog at the end of this year's third quarter was $77.1 million versus $68.8 million at December 31, 2006, and an all-time high $84.7 million at the end of the prior quarter.

AMK Welding

Third quarter sales at the Company's AMK Welding segment increased 32% to $1.8 million versus $1.3 million in the third quarter last year. Operating income was $325,000 versus $391,000 reported in the comparable year-ago quarter.

Management Commentary

"Strong demand from an array of end markets fueled another quarter of robust sales and earnings growth," said Yvon Cariou, president and chief executive officer. "The widespread push for new industrial processing capacity continues to drive significant investments in capital equipment, and based on the broad spectrum of domestic and international projects we are tracking, it appears this activity could continue for the foreseeable future. We are optimistic that many of these projects will incorporate DMC's explosion welded plates."

Cariou said the chemical processing, energy refining and aluminum smelting industries have been sectors from which there has been particularly strong order volume in recent months. "The new production capacity we have brought on line at our Mt. Braddock facility and the upgrades we are making at our European operations have enhanced our ability to effectively process the considerable order volume we continue to experience. In spite of continued tension in the supply chain for high-grade carbon steel, we are very encouraged by the volume of work our production teams are moving through our three explosion welding production centers."

Cariou added that activity at the Company's AMK Welding segment could increase significantly in the coming quarters, as one of the business' largest customers is expected to expand production of its ground-based turbine systems, on which AMK provides specialized welding services. "We believe our capacity expansion efforts at AMK have positioned us to effectively manage this anticipated increase in workload."

Rick Santa, chief financial officer, said DMC ended the third quarter with a strong balance sheet that included a cash position of $22.0 million, up from $10.4 million at the end of this year's second quarter. At the end of fiscal 2006, DMC had cash, cash equivalents and restricted cash of $20.9 million. DMC completed the third quarter with total current assets of $78.9 million, total assets of $106.4 million and working capital of $50.3 million.

Santa said management expects sales and earnings results for the 2007 fourth quarter will likely approximate those of the third quarter.

Nine-Month Results

Through nine months, sales increased 41% to $110.0 million compared with $77.8 million in the nine-month period of 2006. Gross margin was 34% versus 35% in the same period a year ago. Income from operations increased 32% to $26.9 million compared with $20.4 million in the comparable 2006 period. Net income through nine months was $17.7 million, or $1.44 per diluted share, versus net income of $14.2 million, or $1.16 per diluted share, in the same period last year. Net income in the 2006 nine-month period included a gain from discontinued operations of $1.4 million, or $0.11 per share, net of tax, attributable to the sale of a real estate purchase option.

The Explosive Metalworking segment reported nine-month sales of $105.3 million, an improvement of 42% versus sales of $74.3 million in the comparable period of 2006. Operating income increased 35% to $27.2 million compared with $20.2 million in the prior year's nine-month period.

Sales at AMK Welding for the nine-month period increased 37% to $4.7 million compared with sales of $3.4 million in the comparable year-ago period. Operating income was $606,000 compared with $621,000 in the prior-year period.

BOOM: S&P Cuts to 3 STARS (Hold) from 5 STARS (Buy); Ups Tgt to $66 vs $58; Analyst Notes
Friday , November 30, 2007 15:40ET

Issuer: Dynamic Materials Corporation (NasdaqNM: BOOM)

Analyst Firm:  Standard & Poor's

Ratings Action: DOWNGRADE

Current Rating: 3 STARS (Hold) (from 5 STARS (Buy))

Target Price Action: INCREASE
Target Price: $66.00 (+13.79% from $58.00)

Analyst Comments: The shares have exceeded the firm's previous $58 target price. They believe BOOM enjoys a strong competitive position, and can look forward to continued high demand from its primary markets, including oil and gas, commodities processing, chemicals, and petrochemicals. However, with shares now at 26X their 2008 EPS estimate, above their 3-year projected EPS growth rate of 20%, the firm views BOOM as fairly valued. They also see risk in BOOM's recent acquisition of DYNAenergetics. They are initiating an 2009 EPS estimate of $2.95 and raising their target price to $66 based on that estimate.
