Ok first time doing this , hope im right , two days up, volume building, crash through the 50 day moving, coming up on a big mental barrier, solid number, and in the past resistence. What do we think?
How do you guys copy the charts to file ,,, well the ones you draw on?
great pick...$4 will be tough to break but this move may end up being bullish for IFLB.ob. I believe they re associated with SUNW in some way. Will try to find out. Nice job. ;)
Does any body know what is with the volume on this guy??? The new news on this is they aquired some i net storage company, and put thier software up for open source,, and lots of other little news stories, but why soooo much accumiliation? 39,000,000
Bought in @ 3.75 when it was making a move up then the acquisition news and it dropped while the market sorted out the news.
It is now able to offer a complete bid to large companies in network design and the sales team at the storage company was better as well from what I read so that should boost overall profits but that merger wouldn't have transitioned yet so there could be other news pending.
It is providing the network to access iflb but don't know if that boosts it's perception by buyers or not.
strange right,,, a ton of instituitions buy on mar 31,, higher volume,,, any way i bought just on the technicals,,, esa acting like a healty stock.

It looks to have broken out of a three month bear channel on above avg volume. Also, it was below and is now crossing over the 200(MA). Five day chart looks GREAT!
When robt commented on SUNW over the weekend in the AMD folder, I mentioned that I liked it on a pullback to the top of the little Ascending Triangle, 4.00 - 4.01
1. SUNW broke out of a little Ascending Triangle on September 9. Target: 4.58 IN PLAY.
2. It pulled back into the triangle in a Falling Wedge, then went up and made the target on last week's gap higher. The high was 4.56. Close enough. Targets aren't exact.
3. With the target made, SUNW has pulled back to re-test the Ascending Triangle breakout. Obviously, it would be nice to see this area hold, and not have it go back inside the Little Ascending Triangle pattern.
4. Last week's "Google Gap" and failure near the March, 2005 high gives us a larger Ascending Triangle. Target is on the chart if SUNW can find support near here, then knock out the top of the Big Ascending Triangle at 4.53 - 4.56.
SUNW has taken out Friday's low of 4.07, and currently is BID 4.05 - ASK 4.06

I bought SUNW at 4.01 on the pullback to the top of the little Ascending Triangle, but the way the market is acting, I'm not sure that I really want it ???
Stop is a close below the low of the Falling Wedge in the chart above, at 3.81. Risk: a loss of 5%.

4:37PM Sun Microsystems Board Approves Growth Plan to Accelerate Return to Profitability and Sets Operating Income Growth Goals (SUNW) 4.63 +0.08 : Co announced that it's board of directors has approved a growth plan with the goal of accelerating Sun's return to consistent profitability. The plan provides for increasing investment in core technology and channel resources, while accelerating acquisition synergies and disinvestments in non-core processes and research and development activities. The co is instituting a number of initiatives to better align expenses with its core business strategy and drive operating income goals of at least 4% of revenues for Q4FY07 and of at least 10% of revenues long-term. More specifically, the plan addresses several cost cutting initiatives including an 11-13% reduction in force and the consolidation of its real estate portfolio. These initiatives are expected to result in an annual cost savings between $480-590 mln, with the full impact expected to take effect by Q4 of fiscal 2007. SUNW expects to incur restructuring charges ranging from $340-500 mln over the next several quarters in connection with the plan. Expected fiscal 2007 full year revenue growth in the low-to-middle single digits; fiscal 2007 gross margin of around 43%; fiscal 2007 operating expenses in the range of $5.6-6.0 bln.

2007 Could be the Year Tech Funds Return to the Top
By Rob Wherry Published: January 12, 2007
2007 Year of the Techs.......
Earlier last week, in a meeting room high over Times Square, Reuters analyst Ashwani Kaul rattled off a few of his earnings estimates for 2007. For the most part, what he described was an aging bull market that was running out of steam. The growth rates for sectors like basic materials, consumer cyclicals, energy and financials were all projected to cool off over the next 12 months. But then Kaul got to technology. This industry, he said, could grow tenfold this year from the dismal 2% growth rate it experienced in 2006. If true, that jump-up would be the largest of any sector he mentioned and almost twice the rate of the broader stock market.

Sun Microsystems Has a New Sales Approach (And It's Working)
Tuesday December 26, 8:14 am ET
After reporting net losses in 16 of its last 21 quarters, Sun Microsystems finally revamped the way its sales team operates earlier this year. Sun's recent results speak to the success of its new approach to sales: sales increases of 29% and 17% year- over-year in the last two quarters and world server market share growth at the expense of its two main competitors, Hewlett-Packard and Dell (from 8.9% to 10%). Many clients were complaining that Sun's ever more complex organizational structure was making it difficult to gain the type of assistance they needed when technical problems arose. Additionally, Sun sales teams were pitching products as opposed to trying to help customers with their own particular needs. According to Tim Lieto, rehired to revamp Sun's sales approach, customers "were frustrated with our inability to communicate what we had in the lineup." When Lieto reported his findings to Sun CEO Jonathan Schwartz, Schwartz responded with several initiatives: he cut down Sun's sales teams from seven to four, assigned clients one contact at the company who would become an expert on their particulars and increased the commissions for sales of Software and other products so that the sales team stopped continuing to push only server sales, regardless of a client's needs.
The sun is shining bright again for Sun Microsystems.
Up on big volume and down on small volume... gotta like that weekly chart.

Sun lures KKR
Wednesday January 24, 5:25 pm ET
Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ:SUNW) did not need cash. It did need credibility. Allowing Kohlberg Kravis Roberts' Amsterdam-listed investment fund to buy $700m of convertible notes is clearly an attempt to provide the latter. The technology company, with a market capitalisation of $21bn, must hope a vote of confidence from KKR will reassure investors and that KKR's board representative will help impose the discipline needed to meet promises to boost its profitability.
That logic is not too compelling. Sun had $4bn of net cash and equivalents at the end of December. It should have enough discipline to execute its strategy (without bringing in a grown-up to watch over the kids in the playground) and to convince sceptical investors with concrete results. Tuesday's results were a start, with margin improvement from cost cutting as well as healthy revenue growth in some server lines.
For KKR, meanwhile, the deal is a big departure. Instead of buying the whole company, KKR has taken a position without any real control - mirroring Blackstone's investment in Deutsche Telekom shares last year. That lends weight to the suspicion that private equity houses are having to push the boundaries of their investment criteria ever further in order to put their huge funds to work.
The difference for KKR is that it is buying convertible debt, not equity as Blackstone did. That limits KKR's downside risk unless Sun runs into financial trouble. Meanwhile, KKR has a geared exposure to gains if Sun's shares rise above $7.21 (they rose 7 per cent to $6.11 on Wednesday). But, given Sun's strong balance sheet, it is almost the opposite of a normal buy-out where a fund buys a fairly predictable company and takes on huge debt. In this case, the balance sheet becomes even stronger and KKR in effect takes on the technology and business risk inherent in Sun.

Oracle Agrees to Acquire Sun Microsystems
APRIL 20, 2009, 4:00 P.M. ET
Oracle Corp. announced a deal to buy Sun Microsystems Inc. for $7.4 billion, a surprise union of software and hardware companies that emerged following failed talks for International Business Machines Corp. to buy Sun.
Oracle, which has been snapping up smaller software companies for several years, agreed to pay $9.50 a share for Sun. The companies valued the transaction at about $5.6 billion, excluding Sun's cash and debt. As of Dec. 28, Sun had about $2.6 billion in cash and short-term investments and about $700 million in long-term debt.
Sun, whose server systems have long been sold along with Oracle's database software, was widely believed to need a bigger partner as it competes with giants such as IBM, Hewlett-Packard Co. and Dell Inc. Another much larger company, Cisco Systems Inc., also recently entered the server business.
The Sun deal helps elevate Oracle into those ranks, giving the company the ability to sell hardware as well as more fully exploit some important Sun software -- notably the popular Java programming technology and Sun's Solaris operating systems.
.Larry Ellison, Oracle's chief executive, in a conference call described Java as "the single most important software asset we have ever acquired." As a result of the deal, he expects Oracle to be able to offer customers application programs, computers and data-storage hardware in a bundle that will be tuned to help solve their problems.
There is no question in my mind that this transaction redefines the industry," Scott McNealy, Sun's chairman and co-founder, said during the conference call.
Sun, of Santa Clara, Calif., had suffered from erratic profitability and revenue problems since a boom phase ended with the collapse of the dot-com bubble. The company is believed to have talked to a several potential acquirers. IBM emerged in mid-March as the prime candidate following talks that had stretched on for months.
Those discussions recently foundered. People familiar with the situation said one problem stemmed from expected delays in getting antitrust clearance for the deal, which led Sun to press IBM for guarantees it wouldn't abandon the transaction. Oracle is likely to face fewer problems, since it is in fewer businesses in competition with Sun.
Sun's stock has been whipsawed since word of the IBM talks broke several weeks ago. IBM had been initially expected to offer $10 to $11 a share--a premium of more than 100% over Sun's market value at the time--though the last figure cited during the negotiations by people familiar with matter was $9.40.
Though Sun posted losses in three of its last four quarters, Oracle executives insist that it can make the transaction pay off quickly. They estimated that Sun will contribute more than $1.5 billion to Oracle's operating profit--excluding charges and other items--in the first year, increasing to over $2 billion in the second year.
Oracle said that would make the Sun acquisition more profitable in per-share contribution in the first year than the company had planned for the combined contributions of three of its biggest acquisitions--PeopleSoft, Siebel Systems and BEA Systems.
"We have a track record of integrating acquisitions very quickly, and this will be no different," said Safra Catz, one of two Oracle presidents under Mr. Ellison.
Some analysts said they were stunned by the move, since Oracle has long left it to others to build computers while concentrating on the more-profitable software business. Last year, when it began offering a server integrated with its database software, it did so through an alliance with Hewlett-Packard.
"The last thing you expected was a database-software company to buy a hardware customer base," said Bruce Richardson, an analyst at AMR Research in Boston. "It's shocking."
He added that the move makes Oracle "a gorilla" in the market for computing infrastructure products. He questions whether Oracle will hold on to Sun's hardware assets or try to sell them in a separate deal later.
But Ms. Catz said Oracle intends to make Sun's hardware operations as a profitable operating unit inside Oracle.
The companies said they expect the transaction to close this summer, subject to Sun stockholder approval and other conditions. There was no mention in the conference call of the roles of Mr. McNealy and Jonathan Schwartz, Sun's chief executive, following the transaction.
Mr. Schwartz said the transaction puts Oracle in a position to "solve a broader set of problems than any other company on earth."
IBM is "highly unlikely" to reenter the bidding for Sun, according to people familiar with the matter.
Sun Microsystems (JAVA 9.15 +2.46) and Oracle (ORCL 18.82 -0.24) announced they have entered into a definitive agreement under which ORCL will acquire JAVA common stock for $9.50 per share in cash. The transaction is valued at approximately $7.4 bln, or $5.6 bln net of Sun's cash and debt.
