Title: ERS
Post by: snowcat on June 28, 2005, 03:24:09 PM
This is an Aluminum fabricator.  It was on a nice run - beautiful chart, low pe, 4% dividend.
how can you beat it.  Well it took a bit of a dive the past few days and is up 11% today.

May be one to check out - one of my faves for under $10.  It was also one of IBD's stox of the week two weeks ago (the friday list).

The numbers look great and the best chart in the bunch - should make the IBD 100 in the top 10 and get lots of exposure if it can hold 15!

Finished the week a hair under 18 and #1 on the IBD 100 for some great exposure.  Metal stocks are HOT right now and this is the best one out there.

The stock has held up strong on a down day and finished over 20 on good volume.  With the price of aluminum double what it was a year ago, I can see this stock in the 25+ range soon.

It should be #1 on the IBD 100 again if it can keep at its current level giving it much exposure.  It still does not have the big institutional ownership yet.

The opinion poll says 100% buy!
http://quotes.barchart.com/texpert.asp?sym=ers

The chart says "I got room to grow"
http://charts3.barchart.com/chart.asp?sym=ERS&data=A&jav=adv&vol=Y&evnt=adv&grid=Y&code=BSTK&org=stk&fix=

And Snowcat says "Hey, who lit my 3 socks on fire"??

If you are holding ERS like me you must be 'wow'ing to say the least. The company made to the top of IBD100. Technically you can can see the bullish chart below.

Time to buy again. Up on good volume (for a 1/2 day).  This top notch Aluminum company  fell during the June collapse for no reason.

Fell from 60 - buy now at 15.  This is a good company and the stock just took a beating.
see you at 20!

ERS id make a nice move today but the overhead supply will be hard to overcome imo. I don't know if "smart money" will come back in knowing that the climb might be hard because of the overhead supply. Just my thoughts of course and this stock was hot once before so it could turn around.

Post by: snowcat on July 05, 2006, 04:55:03 PM
I'm in, so the "smart money" is in.  :D

The overhead it has is nothing compared to the potential for gain.  It fell on June 2nd when the rest of the market fell for no reason.  This will be at 20 and higher where it belongs.
The PE is low and the earnings are high.  Aluminum is in high demand .

I'm playing ERS for a bounce here, based on my CCI crossover strategy.  CCI has just moved up from below -100, and ERS got a bounce off a supportive trendline from recent lows.  I think this one could be good for a quick run to $12.30 gap resistance.  Secondary target, bottom of the gap at 11.52. Needs to break through resistance at $10.93 and the 50SMA.  Support at 10.45, 10.25 and 9.95.  I got filled this morning at 10.66, putting a stop in for 10.22.  risk on the trade: just over 4%, reward: just over 15%.  Lets hope it goes well...

By the way, have a look at the 1 year chart on ERS if you want to get the full picture - could be voted most ridiculous stock of the year!!!

ERS rallied this week, but encountered some resistance around the 11-11.15 level, which also coincides with the 50MA.  There is still an open gap between 10.26 and 10.50 that has not been filled, and it could pullback to this level.  It could also come back down to test the ascending trendline which I put at around 9.80 as of friday's close.  I am still looking for it to rebound to fill the open gap above, with a target around $12.30, but it may not be ready to do that just yet.  Will see what next weeks action brings, but for now I am maintaining my stop at 10.22.

Well the gap got filled this morning and my stop got tagged too - it is now moving higher, but there you go.  (aussie's question about all my stop losses getting hit seems to be coming true....)  Sold @ 10.24: loss on trade: 4.03%

Bought ERS at 11.86.  Seems like its ready to rock to me.  This stock likes to move fast, hope it moves my direction

Post by: ScottishTrader on November 30, 2006, 10:02:13 PM
hey bjc,

I picked up some ers at 11.86 today too... strange coincidence huh?  Man it annoys me when stocks do this (i.e. I call them right then they tank and shake me out, only to do a quickfast reversal!)  But ERS was looking very strong today.  The small W-bottom has a conservative-leg target of (11.19-10.06= 1.13+11.19) 12.32. It will be interesting to see if it can break above gap resistance at 12.30 tomorrow.  If it does, it could well have a run in it here.

Nice call!!  Very strong bounce off of support right @ 11.64.  This thing really moves with such a low float.  Added more today @11.70, looking for $14 - $16.  Nice call

ERS is behaving pretty nicely.  Volume dried up after the last run up while the stock lost minimally.  Needs to break 12.79..
Title: Re: ERS
Post by: bjc on December 07, 2006, 04:10:38 PM
Got the push, broke the 12.79 high from about a week ago and also broke 13.  Closed strong at 13.30, +1.07 (8.75%) on above average volume. >:D

Broke downtrend line that started in may 06 going through the 16.90 high on the recent late Oct runup.

I'm anticipating another big day tomorrow.  Considered selling 1/3 or so at the end of the day, but decided against it.  Kinda wish I did, but we'll see..

Sold half yesterday at 12.62 and half today at 12.16.  Combined gain about 4.6%.    Just didn't like the way it's acting...protect profit.

Didn't really have any plan to begin with anyway, which is stupid.

ERS looking dangerous right now.  Could go either way.  Watch for break of the large triangle, but H&S suggests a bearish tone.

Watching ERS once again after very good earnings a few days ago. Empire has been a neglected stock long enough. We may finally be seeing a turnaround. If so, big money will take notice as they re-evaluate the company. A retest of last years highs would make this old man happy.

FORT LEE, N.J., May 15, 2007 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Empire Resources, Inc. (ERS), a distributor of value added, semi-finished aluminum products, today announced a 40% increase in revenues from $99,569,000 in the first quarter of 2006 to $139,841,000 for the first quarter of 2007. The Company also reported a 6% increase in gross profit from $7,927,000 in the first quarter of 2006 to $8,418,000 in the first quarter of 2007. The Company announced net income of $2,411,000 for the first quarter of 2007, compared to net income of $2,420,000 for the first quarter of 2006. Earnings per share on a fully diluted basis remained constant at $0.24 per share.
