Bought at 5.37....but sold at 8.00.....you dont know how bad htis hurts. Big lesson learned here!
this hurts really!! how did you get CTTY so early on your radar?
Did not ride this one but applaud again for ur pick. Dont worry b/c you still made a big profit. And there are 11k stocks :) and u will sure find more like this one. I am kicking myself for missing move on this and some other stocks. But still sometimes you cant get all.
laonda applaud i mean :)
I saw the news and figured I'd play it. Boy I didn't think it would do this. I'm not worried about it, there are gonna be plenty more.
I missed this too! I'd sure like to have this one back. I was away from my computer for a period of time this morning, and didn't get back until I saw it already at $8.80. Didn't think it would go this high in this short a time. Gee, I could have made enough on this one today to buy myself a new Chevy Equinox! :)
That introduces my question: How does a person find out about these kinds of opportunities before the stock takes off? What tools do traders use to alert them of stocks about to make a big run-up? It seems I'm always missing them for some reason or another, probably mostly because I don't think they will react the way they do. I also missed CTIB's run-up today too; didn't catch that one in time either. Is there a way to accurately predict how a stock will react to news like this?
Thanks,
Jeff
"BEWARE"....Be careful....... ???
I think the momentum players will exit.I don't think anyone with these huge gains
will hold this over night.I think it will be everyones favorite short now.
IMHO
I jumped on this today @ 11.60, now I'll hold on.
If it can break and close above 12.25 I'll hold it overnight, if it does it could make 16. IMO
IMO. I'm still holding since 11.60. Anybody with me?
Sorry fixed Symbol.
What I find amazing with this stock is the market cap, just 11.56M says marketwatch.com (at $14 a share)? Is this correct?
I'll have to analyze a bit further, this stock showed up on my filter this morning, but I wasn't able to do the 3 Stocks on Fire list.
I'll go a bit deeper into CTTY's financials, any help would be very appreciated (the chart is amazing, I would hold on to that stock tommyt, keep the winners).
What I think (I'm not positive) is when news was released that Credit Card holders's private information of released/stolen from US banks this company's stock took off (from $4 to over $20) in a day, at which time the CEO thought it would be a good time to cash in all his chips and quit. Can't blame the guy, really. The truth is though, his shares only totaled 800,000+. After that the stock plunged. Then he came back out and said everything was on the up and up, and he resigned soley for personal reasons (suddenly, he was rich). Now that all is clear, the stock may be headed back to the $20 region. I'll try to find some articles I spotted last week.
There's no doubt, the outstanding shares of the company are 778,184, so the actual market cap is $15.5*778,184 = $12,061,852.
This also means the stock is trading it's float several times today ...
I believe the big rise was because of these news:
Catuity shares soar on software deal (http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story.asp?siteid=mktw&guid=%7B79BD6453%2D0A2F%2D43C9%2D90CE%2DD81AF8BD4633%7D&)
Tommyt here is the article about he CEO bailing.
http://www.thestreet.com/_yahoo/tech/software/10229409.html?cm_ven=YAHOO&cm_cat=FREE&cm_ite=NA
Nice one TommyT I was wondering if you were still in it. Yep the market cap is as you calculated David. I personally think this stock has become momo traders toy, so be very careful when trading it and take profits swiftly, not one I would hold overnight to be honest.
Mike
Hey guys. Hate to spoil the fun, but I am not a CTTY supporter. If you guys want to trade it fine, but I wouldn't hold it for any length of time. The company is only a handful of employees. I am from the Detroit area and where they are located their office is nothing more than a corner store shop. They are near downtown but not in the heart of downtown. If you do a mapquest of their office you will see where they are located and if you know the detroit area you'll understand.
The CEO dumped all his shares and quit once the stock spiked. They had some good news recently and the stock ran like crazy. I would not be holding this stock for long.
Just my opinion.
I'm confused by the stock? ??? It moves erratic as hell and then returns to where it was as if nothing happened.. doesen't make sense.. and who is trading all of these shares if its traded over 5 times its float just today?..
How do the daytraders play this? Do they just buy at the bid and sell at the ask when there is a .12 or more spread usually? I don't now?.. any insight as to what is possibly driving the pricing is greatly appreciated.. bought in today at $15.54 but no idea whats going on trying to learn something here.
Do Daytraders short this stock as well?
Trunk,
Yesterday, new highs were made at the 3:30(I think $14.30), then a massive sell off below my purchase price of 11.60, only to close at 11.68. Premarket it was 12.65. I don't know if this helps, but I did a partial sell @ 17.30 and will be completely out by 3:30. If it looks like buyers return, so will I. What the heck?
FYI - CTTY has been on the Stocklemon S-list for a while. Make your $, just don't get caught holding the bag.
Dear Reader,
Two weeks ago, Stocklemon warned on Catuity Inc (CTTY) while the stock was trading at $18 a share. After taking a quick run up on a meaningless announcement, the Chairman of the Catuity quickly sold all of his stock and resigned his position. Just yesterday, Catuity filed an 8k notice of deslisting or transfer stating that they are out of compliance with Nasdaq Marketplace Rule 4350.
Yet, the stock is up close to 75% in just 2 days.
Stocklemon believes that Catuity is still just a lemonade stand and the recent run up can be more attributed to day traders and speculators rather than long term or institutional investors.
The Catuity story has done nothing but gotten worse since the first Stocklemon warning. The story has become so stupid that it make TheStreet.com list of the 5 Dumbest Things of the Year.

Last time the stock was trading at this value, CEO Racine told Marketwatch, ""...there's just no justification for the level we're at now."

Stocklemon believes it is only time before the company either raises money or gets delisted from Nasdaq and therefore will send the shares back to their pre June value of under $5 per share.
Cautious Investing To All.

Are you still in J.B ?
Good move today with nice volume to go along
Another SURGE today !!!! ;D
Today's strenght will be a selling opprotunity.
I think you´re right.
Seems to pullback probably to the daily 50 EMA.
Bought $ 17.60 yesterday.
May take off today.
Chart always has a tail on it.
Seems bullish signal is in place based on how it was shown in the past.
CTTY today, watch it. ;)
-Jeff-
Added with a tight stop.
It will pop very soon, IMO.
Be careful though. Took the money made on SPIR and bought more here.
We will see, -Jeff-
Nice rebound.
Between SPIR, DXPE & CTTY not bad today.
-Jeff-
CTTY is in non-compliance with 2 NASDAQ listing rules and faces de-listing August 1 if it doesn't appeal. I would expect an appeal and possibly an attendant rally, but this is a "parabolic return" candidate. It was only $4 a month ago. Be careful with this one.
It's currently $12.52 BID...12.60 ASK

hi 3sof community, bringing this thread out from the dead. anyone have any input on this stock. i've been following it, the ticker is CTTYC but appears the "C" will be removed shortly:
Earlier this month Catuity said it raised $5.29 million in capital and closed its acquisition of Australian firm Loyalty Magic Pty Ltd., putting it back into compliance with Nasdaq's listing standards. The stock will continue to trade under the ticker symbol "CTTYC" until its quarterly filing in November, and then will revert to "CTTY."
it made a crazy run up in august, which i missed :'( but i'm feeling it will be back in the spotlight on monday when they file 3q financials bringing them back into compliance.
DETROIT & MELBOURNE, Australia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 11, 2005--Catuity, Inc. (NASDAQ:CTTYC - News; ASX:CAT - News; ASX:CATN - News), a provider of POS-focused solutions, including loyalty and gift card, will hold a conference call for investors on Monday, November 14, 2005 at 4:30 PM EST (8:30 am AEDT on Tuesday, November 15, 2005 in Melbourne Australia). During the call, Catuity management will provide investors with an update on recent activities at the Company. Catuity intends to file its third quarter financial statements with the SEC prior to the conference call.
i think with the holiday season upon us, their business makes me think its worth investing in:
Catuity, Inc., a software development company, provides loyalty software for retailers, processors, and card issuing banks in the United States and Canada. The company designs, develops, licenses, and supports loyalty software that enables its customers, including retailers, transaction processors, product suppliers, and card issuing banks to establish and administer various incentive and loyalty programs. Its system functions in both the in-store, as well as Internet environments and works with various methods of consumer payment, including magnetic stripe credit or debit cards, chip-cards, radio frequency identification device, gift cards, or cash. The company's software delivers purchase information about the consumer to the point of sale at the time of a transaction.
any thoughts? it closed at $8.35 friday. thinking it has the potential to spike after the conference.
i bought CTTYC in the $9s. Is there any reason for hope for a bounce back after the thrashing it took at the end of today? Or am I really a bagholder on this one?
Bought today for the E to drop off tomorrow.
CTTY is known for 2 day rallies. ;D
November 22 (CTTY) 7.52 +0.97:CTTYC received notice from The NASDAQ Stock Market that the co has fully complied with all requirements for continued listing on The NASDAQ Capital Market. As a result, effective with the open of business on November 22, 2005, the fifth character "C" will be removed from the co's trading symbol and Catuity will begin trading again under the symbol CTTY. NASDAQ had required the appendage of the fifth character "C" to the Company's trading symbol pending evidence that the co had stockholders' equity in excess of $2.5 mln as of September 30, 2005.
Money in the very short-term CTTY ;)
i bailed. its not the same stock since its shares outstanding have almost tripled.

Catuity CEO Files 10b5-1 Plan
January 27, 2006 09:46:02 (ET)
DETROIT, Jan 27, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Catuity Inc. (CTTY, Trade)(ASX:CAT)(ASX:CATN), a loyalty and gift card processor, reported today that President and CEO John Racine has executed a 10b5-1 plan with a stock brokerage firm providing for the exercise of 45,000 options and the market sale of the shares then acquired, only when the company's share price reaches the price range from $15 to $26.25.
Those price targets are significantly above recent trading prices in the Company's shares and also represent a significant increase from the Company's USD $7.50 offering price in its September 1, 2005 capital raise. Under the plan, Mr. Racine would exercise 10,000 options only when the Company's share price is at $15 or higher; 25,000 options only when the share price is at $20.625 or higher; and 10,000 options only when the share price is at $26.25. Those price targets correspond with long-range incentives awarded Mr. Racine under an October 2005 plan approved by the Board of Directors. That plan is subject to shareholder approval.
The 45,000 options represent 19.6% of the 229,912 options, restricted shares and purchased shares granted to Mr. Racine in two separate incentive equity awards covering 2004-2007 business objectives. The exercise would represent the first by Mr. Racine since he joined the Company on Sept. 27, 2004.
Mr. Racine said his plans to exercise those shares were driven by estate and tax planning issues. "I remain committed to the long-term success of Catuity and have filed this plan so that shareholders have a clear understanding of my intentions. I would like to stress that I will exercise a limited number of my options, as outlined in the plan, only when these minimum price thresholds have been achieved."

Some news...........................
Catuity Signs Equity Commerce as Reseller
Monday June 26, 9:45 am ET
Merchants Have Eight Turnkey Options to Drive Customer Loyalty
DETROIT, MI and HAGERSTOWN, MD--(MARKET WIRE)--Jun 26, 2006 -- Catuity Inc. (NasdaqSC:CTTY - News) (Australia:CAT.AX - News) (Australia:CATN.AX - News), a loyalty and gift card processor, today announced that it has signed a three-year re-seller agreement with Equity Commerce L.P. to provide terminal-based programs to the company's growing national network of sales agents.
Under the deal, Catuity will support loyalty and gift card programs on the Lipman 8320 and Hypercom T-4100 terminals and provide a full-range of support services including program set-up, card design and production, Point Of Purchase merchandise fulfillment, billing and residual management services.
"In the two years since its founding, Equity Commerce, L.P. has been rewriting the rules on how merchants and small retailers are served by focusing on the long-term value of the relationships they have with both the store owners and the sales agents who are at the frontline of a brutally competitive business," said John Racine, President & CEO of Catuity Inc. "The management team are industry veterans who recognize that loyalty and gift card will be the pivotal factor in winning new accounts."
The re-seller relationship is an expansion of a relationship that began last year. Equity Commerce, L.P. had originally planned to only deploy Catuity's solution on a single terminal family, but under the new agreement, it has agreed to deploy the loyalty and gift card application on every qualified terminal supported by Catuity. In addition, Catuity has agreed to be a re-seller of credit and debit card processing services from Equity Commerce, L.P.
"Now our relationship has come full circle as both companies are supporting one another's core capability," said Jerry Julien, Executive Vice President of Business Development for Equity Commerce, L.P. "There are so many options for merchants and for processors like us, but Catuity stands out because they have the broadest range of loyalty and gift card programs that we've seen in the market. We think that choice and a flexible solution will win more accounts for our agents."
"We are focused on preparing our large sales force to sell the bottom-line impact of loyalty and gift card to merchants as the all-important fall buying season begins," said Mr. Julien. "Beginning in August, merchants are thinking ahead to how to get the most out of the holiday shopping season. We'll be showing them how gift card, for instance, is the No.1 gift in America and how our product grows their business."
While Catuity's direct sales efforts are targeted at mid-sized chain retailers, Equity Commerce, L.P. has quickly built a large base of merchants by understanding the needs of Main Street merchants and smaller chains and by offering them a mix of transaction processing, technology and funding products that help them make their business more profitable.
"Like Catuity, we make money when we help our merchants run their businesses more profitability," said Mr. Julien. "For a significant number, loyalty and gift card will grow their sales, cut the cost compared to paper- based programs and help them win more walletshare from existing customers. For our sales agents, this is a powerful tool to help them close more deals and reduce the attrition of their merchant base."
Formed and news immanent. A definite buy here. Should pop through the teens and new business applications in Australia should increase revenues!
August the 30th Catuity taps Australia's largest merchant base. Have a read!

It's that season again.
Recent contracts in Australia and greeting card time globally. News imminent over there again.
Volume today was positive.
CTTY Bounced of the bottom and had support today on reasonably small volume.
Very good sign, no sellers.
It made it's first move on Friday. Volume was good. Shorts are covering. It could go far higher from here.
When the news comes in from it's Australian contract revenue expectations, and seasonal movement tied in with it we have a winner.
nice moves lately.also recommend to read about gift card business in Forbes' magazine.
