VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Jun 28, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- MIV Therapeutics, Inc. (MIVT, Trade), a developer of next-generation biocompatible stent coatings and drug delivery technologies, has announced the availability of an extensive research and investment report by SISM Research & Investment Services that projects a 300% increase in share appreciation, and reaffirms a Speculative Buy/4 recommendation of the Company's stock with a 12-month target price of $1.50.

The SISM "Company Insight!" report, authored by leading market analyst Ernest C. Schlotter, concludes that the company's fully biocompatible, ultra-thin HAp coating technology positions it to become a world leader in the coated medical device market.

The report provides a detailed overview of MIVT's proprietary Hydroxyapatite (HAp)-based biocompatible stent coatings and novel drug-delivery solutions designed to address known weaknesses of current drug-eluting systems. The report outlines MIVT's intellectual property portfolio, which was strengthened recently through exclusive licensing of four additional technologies from the University of British Columbia. It also reviews key research milestones achieved to date.

For example, the report states: "In June 2004, MIVT commissioned Toxikon Corp., of Bedford, MA, to complete a full range of twelve biocompatibility studies on its proprietary HAp coating technology. All twelve studies were successful and confirmed HAp's exceptional biocompatibility."

The report adds: "MIVT's HAp stent coating also demonstrated excellent performance and biocompatibility in all key areas at three-month follow-up of porcine trials, paving the way for MIVT to enter the lucrative drug-eluting stent market."

The report also expands on MIVT's key investment and business highlights, including the completed acquisition of SagaX Medical Technologies and an agreement to acquire advanced stent manufacturer Sahajanand Medical Technologies, one of the world's largest manufacturers of advanced coronary stents outside of the U.S. The pending acquisition of Sahajanand is expected to bring MIVT approximately $20 million in revenues in its first year, as well as immediate access to Sahajanand's world-class production facilities and well-established distribution network.

The report concludes: "Based on the Company's strong management team and outstanding proprietary coating technology, MIVT is clearly undervalued, and we reaffirm our Speculative Buy/4 recommendation for the stock of MIV Therapeutics with a 12-month target price of $1.50."

MIVT Receives Prestigious Frost & Sullivan 2005 Award for Technology Innovation in Field of Medical Coatings
Wednesday August 24, 4:01 pm ET
Biocompatible Coating Pioneer Recognized for Development of Visionary Hydroxyapatite (HAp) Coating Technologies

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 24, 2005--MIV Therapeutics, Inc. (OTCBB:MIVT - News), a developer of next-generation biocompatible passive and drug-eluting stent coatings and drug delivery technologies for the treatment of cardiovascular disease, has been recognized by Frost & Sullivan with the 2005 Technology Innovation Award, in recognition of the Company's achievements and pioneering work to develop proprietary biocompatible coatings technology to make better, safer vascular stents, medical devices and drug delivery systems.

Frost & Sullivan, a widely respected global independent research and growth consulting firm, presents the annual Technology Innovation Award to recognize the quality and depth of a company's research and development program, as well as the vision that enabled it to undertake such an endeavor. Frost & Sullivan's Technology Innovation Award is bestowed upon a company or individual that has carried out new research that has resulted in innovation(s) that have or are expected to bring significant contributions to the industry in terms of adoption, change, and competitive posture. The selection process includes primary participant interviews and extensive primary and secondary research.

"MIV Therapeutics has utilized an entirely new approach for medical coatings vis-a-vis the classic polymer-plus-drug coatings," the Frost & Sullivan award announcement notes. "MIVT's Hydroxyapatite (HAp) coatings are entirely biocompatible and promote tissue healing while demonstrating the optimal growth of endothelium. It is in acknowledgement of the company's development of such breakthrough advanced biocompatible medical coatings for stents and other medical devices that it has been recognized with Frost & Sullivan's prestigious Award for Technology Innovation."

Frost & Sullivan's 115-page comprehensive research service entitled, "Advances in Coatings Technology for Medical Devices and Drug Delivery" contains an extensive analysis of MIVT's technology and development initiatives.

Frost & Sullivan's Technical Insights Group discussed the development of MIV Therapeutics' pioneering, completely biocompatible Hydroxyapatite (HAp) technology for medical coatings, and its potential to improve stents and other implantable devices, as well as advanced drug delivery systems. The research service reviews current medical device coatings technologies, innovations, and market trends. The research service on MIVT can be purchased through the Frost & Sullivan website at http://www.frost.com.

MIV Therapeutics is developing and pursuing the commercialization of safe and fully biocompatible coatings for stents and other medical devices with the intent of providing improved solutions for the treatment of cardiovascular disease and other conditions. In collaboration with the University of British Columbia, MIVT is focused on developing a proprietary ultra-thin coating formulation to protect surrounding tissue from chemical interaction with bare-metal stents, an interaction which typically causes aggressive response of the immune system resulting in elevated restenosis, or renarrowing of arteries, and a risk of thrombus in the stented artery. MIVT's innovative coatings are based upon a natural material, Hydroxyapatite, a component of hard tissue found in certain parts of the human body, such as bone, which enables the surface of metallic stents to virtually mimic the natural state of structurally-sound 100% biocompatible and bio-active tissue.

"The Frost & Sullivan Technology Innovation Award is the latest validation of our innovative development of our next-generation Hydroxyapatite coatings for stents and other implantable medical devices," said Alan Lindsay, CEO of MIVT. "It's particularly rewarding that an organization of Frost & Sullivan's caliber and reputation singled out MIVT as a leader in the large and important medical coatings sector. This award provides yet another indication of the potential of our advanced coating solutions to provide significant impact on multimillion-dollar biomedical market sectors. We are certainly proud of this recognition and believe that our technology will continue to set benchmarks for the next-generation bio-friendly coatings in numerous cardiovascular and other medical device segments worldwide."

Unlike stent and drug-eluting coatings currently in use, MIVT's HAp coatings are designed to inhibit adverse reactions of the body immune system. Exceptional biocompatibility and safety of HAp coatings are believed to be the key attributes that may potentially help to reduce restenosis, or re-blocking of the arteries following angioplasty. In particular, MIVT's coatings are designed to reduce risks of thrombogenic (blood clotting) events attributable in some instances to polymer-coated stents. MIVT has successfully completed a comprehensive range of biocompatibility and histopathology tests on its product and recently completed, with very encouraging results, a 3-month phase of porcine animal trials that confirmed exceptional safety and biocompatibility of HAp coatings in coronary arteries. Human clinical trials are expected to commence soon. MIVT believes its technology also has potential for an array of additional medical applications, including dental, hip and bone repair implants.

MIV Technologies Research Note Issued by Investrend Research Affiliate Beacon Equity Research Regarding New Financing and Award
Thursday August 25, 8:30 am ET

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 25, 2005--(Investrend Research Syndicate) A research note on MIV Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: MIVT - News) has been issued by Investrend Research Affiliate Beacon Equity Research analyst Shailesh Dhuri, CFA.

The full report is available at http://www.beaconequityresearch.com and http://www.investrendresearch.com

In the report Mr. Dhuri writes, "In 2004, the Company successfully completed biocompatibility tests that have proven the exceptional capabilities of HAp as a coating for medical devices and delivery technologies. Preliminary safety studies were also successfully completed and it is confirmed, according to the Company, that HAp is suitable for the use of cardiovascular applications. The final stage of commercializing HAp is Human clinical trials and this stage is expected to commence in near future.

The Company has recently announced that it has been recognized by Frost & Sullivan with the "2005 Technology Innovation Award", in recognition of the Company's achievements and pioneering work to develop proprietary biocompatible coatings technology to make better, safer vascular stents, medical devices and drug delivery systems. This type of recognition should help MIV in many ways, such as attracting capital; attracting potential partners for sharing the risks of developments; and helping prepare the market for easy acceptance when the product is eventually launched.

Regarding the financing, in our valuation model, we had explicitly estimated there would be high costs involved with the process of getting a new coating approved by the FDA. It is vitally important that they are able to attract new capital on favorable terms (such as the current placement) to cover new research expenses and satisfy its burn-rate. The deal implies that larger investors who have decided to fund the recent round development have found it economically appealing to invest funds in this venture, at the current level of valuation."

Here's Friday's news...

MIVT Receives Prestigious Frost & Sullivan 2005 Award for Technology Innovation in Field of Medical Coatings

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Aug. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MIV Therapeutics, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: MIVT - News), a developer of next-generation biocompatible passive and drug-eluting stent coatings and drug delivery technologies for the treatment of cardiovascular disease, has been recognized by Frost & Sullivan with the 2005 Technology Innovation Award, in recognition of the Company's achievements and pioneering work to develop proprietary biocompatible coatings technology to make better, safer vascular stents, medical devices and drug delivery systems.

Frost & Sullivan, a widely respected global independent research and growth consulting firm presents the annual Technology Innovation Award to recognize the quality and depth of a company's research and development program, as well as the vision that enabled it to undertake such an endeavor.

News today:
MIV Therapeutics' Intellectual Property Portfolio Expands to 43 Patents, Patent Applications and Licenses on Novel Technologies

Aggressive IP Protection of Coating Technologies Positions Company for Entry into $100 Billion Drug-Delivery Market

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 26, 2005--MIV Therapeutics, Inc. (OTCBB:MIVT - News; Frankfurt/FSE:MIV), a developer of next-generation biocompatible passive and drug-eluting stent coatings and drug delivery technologies for the treatment of cardiovascular disease, has announced that its intellectual property portfolio has achieved a total of 43 U.S. and international patents and patent applications. Aggressive steps taken to secure patent protection for the IP portfolio reflect the Company's vision and business strategy to generate significant revenues from its proprietary coating solutions, targeting the projected $100 billion dollar global marketplace for coronary stents and advanced drug-delivery systems.

The Company's intellectual property portfolio includes patents held by the University of British Columbia (UBC) to which MIVT has exclusive commercial rights under a strategic alliance with the university. The latest count includes several key patent applications filed simultaneously in various countries around the world, further protecting commercial exclusivity of MIVT's inventions in the global marketplace. The patents from UBC involve MIVT's initial strategic thrust to commercialize a family of next-generation biocompatible coatings for stents and other medical devices based on a highly biocompatible material called Hydroxyapatite (HAp), which has been shown to be suitable for a broad array of applications as a coating for coronary stents and next-generation drug-elution/drug-delivery systems.

"The vigorous expansion and the aggressive protection of intellectual property portfolio is a central element of MIVT's high-growth business strategy. Continued growth of our family of patents, licenses and patent applications reflects methodical pursuit of important milestones of our corporate progress," said Alan Lindsay, Chairman and CEO of MIVT. "Our HAp-based coatings and composite drug delivery technologies have a number of potential broad applications in cardiovascular and non-vascular drug/device combination products. Our goal is to continue to develop innovative solutions needed in our target markets and to diversify our portfolio of solutions to capitalize on applications that can access the $100 billion market of combination implantable drug delivery systems."

Mr. Lindsay added, "The market for drug-eluting stents is one of the fastest growing segments within the medical device arena, with annual growth approaching 25%, and there is a critical need for next-generation technologies and solutions to enhance the performance and safety of devices, while providing competitive advantages to medical device manufacturers."

In addition to its advanced research and development programs, the Company is also expanding its intellectual property portfolio through acquisitions. Earlier this year, MIVT grew its IP portfolio through acquisition of SagaX, a company developing a range of proprietary solutions to prevent naturally occurring cardio-embolic strokes and strokes and other common and serious complications that can result from cardiac procedures. These technologies include an innovative proprietary Aortic Embolic Protection Device (AEPD),designed to be implanted in the aorta during cardiology surgery and procedures, to filter and/or deflect embolic particles that can cause seriously debilitating or fatal strokes if left in blood circulation. The unique AEPD technology being developed at MIVT's SagaX subsidiary is one of the latest innovations in the field of filter-based embolic protection devices. It is the only filter being developed for use in the aorta. SagaX is also developing other proprietary embolic protection technologies.

The global market for carotid stents and embolic filters, which are frequently implanted in combination with each other for stroke prevention purposes, is growing around the world. Currently, the global market for these devices is estimated at $130 million, but analysts forecast that such devices will grow into a $500 million to $1 billion segment of the stent market, according to published reports.

MIV Therapeutics Wins 2005 Frost & Sullivan Award for Technology Innovation in the Field of Advanced Medical Coatings

http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/051019/daw045.html?.v=26

PALO ALTO, Calif., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Frost & Sullivan's recent analysis, Advanced Coatings for Medical Devices and Drug Delivery, selected MIV Therapeutics Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: MIVT - News) as the recipient of the 2005 Technology Innovation Award for developing and commercializing the next generation of biocompatible coatings for stents and other medical devices.

Each year Frost & Sullivan presents this award to a company (or individual) that has carried out new research; which has resulted in innovation(s) that have or are expected to bring significant contributions to the industry in terms of adoption, change, and competitive posture. The award recognizes the quality and depth of a company's research and development program, as well as the vision and risk-taking that enabled it to undertake such an endeavor.

"MIVT's biocompatible coating technologies are making stents safer as they are non-toxic and do not induce thrombogenicity, allergic, or inflammatory reactions," says Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Anil Naidu. "The company's pioneering Hydroxyapatite (HAp) coatings enable the surface of metallic stents to virtually mimic the natural state of structurally-sound 100 percent biocompatible and bio-active tissue."

A majority of currently available drug eluting stents utilize anti-proliferative and anti-inflammatory drugs embedded in a polymer matrix to prevent the problem of restenosis, which is a common complication seen with bare metal stents. Studies on bare metal stents made up of stainless steel have confirmed that the release of metal ions, such as nickel and chromium, may initiate allergic reactions or inflammatory response. This in turn may lead to restenosis (re-blocking of the arteries following angioplasty) or thrombosis (blood clotting).

To address such problems, researchers are developing coatings with improved biocompatibility that do not leach metal ions into neighboring tissues. MIVT has adopted two distinctive routes for fabricating 'nature made' coatings for stents. The first approach is a 100 percent synthetic HAp in the form of ultra-thin (sub-micron) coating and the second approach is a HAp combined with bio-polymer, for increased toughness and desired, long term/small dose drug delivery characteristics offered by the thicker coatings.

HAp resembles the human bone and is utilized on cardiovascular stents to prevent blockage of arteries due to coronary artery disease (CAD). Research has indicated that MIVT's coatings do not trigger a variety of the adverse and inflammatory reactions that are associated with products available currently, and potentially help reduce restenosis and, in particular, reduce the risk of thrombogenic events attributable in some instances to polymer-coated stents.

For coating its drug-eluting HAp-based stents, MIVT employs electrostatic-assisted deposition techniques of ceramic and the polymer through either co-deposition or post impregnation. These techniques help in the uniform deposition of composite HAp films on even complex shaped stents and assure uniform and homogenous inter-penetration of the ceramic and the bio-polymer phases. Moreover, the composite character of MIVT's HAp coating allows for the inclusion of pre-determined amounts of drug in the micropores of the coating while maintaining its mechanical robustness.

"MIVT's proprietary, patented coating not only has superior biocompatibility, but may also prove to have drug-eluting characteristics that will be more advantageous than those of polymer coatings currently available in the market," notes Naidu. "HAp is expected to stay on the stent surface for prolonged periods of time more than one year or, alternatively, can dissolve gradually within 3-12 months."

MIVT's HAp coatings are entirely biocompatible and promote tissue healing while demonstrating the optimal growth of endothelium. The company's development of such a breakthrough in advanced biocompatible medical coatings for stents and other medical devices has been recognized with Frost & Sullivan's prestigious Award for Technology Innovation.

MIV Therapeutics' Proprietary Stent Coating Studies Presented at Major TCT Conference by Independent Researchers

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 25, 2005--MIV Therapeutics, Inc. (OTCBB:MIVT - News; FWB:MIV), a developer of next-generation biocompatible stent coatings and drug delivery technologies for the treatment of cardiovascular disease, announced that an independent research organization has presented interim results of a long-term animal study of its novel, biocompatible stent coating technology at the world's largest scientific convention on interventional cardiovascular therapies, the 17th annual Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) 2005 conference, which ended Friday in Washington, D.C.
The independent researchers conducting the study concluded from interim results that the the new Hydroxyapatite (HAp) stent coatings that MIVT has developed show promise of excellent long-term biocompatibility, making the coatings a strong candidate to be a next-generation stent coating. Release of six-month follow-up data from an another group of animals in the study is pending.

Dr. Greg L. Kaluza, the Scientific Director at the Center for Research in Cardiovascular Interventions of The Methodist Hospital Research Institute in Houston, TX, and the lead investigator for the animal trial of the MIVT technology, presented his team's findings at the TCT conference. The TCT conference selected the Methodist study for the oral presentation in recognition of the research conducted on novel coating technologies and their potential significance to the field of vascular therapy.

Methodist's animal trial is examining MIVT's proprietary ultra-thin coatings for vascular stents. Stents are devices implanted in the arteries to prop open the blood vessels and to maintain healthy blood flow to the heart and throughout the body. MIVT has developed a next-generation line of biocompatible coatings based on a substance called Hydroxyapatite (HAp), for use as passive and drug-eluting applications on stents, and for application on other implantable medical devices.

"In the field of vascular stents and stent coatings, two pivotal, fundamental issues of concern are biocompatibility and safety," Dr. Kaluza said. "This animal trial is an important part of the MIVT's research program, and its objective was to verify the biocompatibility and safety of HAp-based ultra-thin coatings. The 3-month data allowed us to conclude that the ultra-thin hydroxyapatite coating selected for this study and intended for use together with microporous HAp coatings that carry drug eluting capability showed promise of an excellent long term biocompatibility and thus makes an attractive candidate for a next-generation stent coating. The 6-month follow-up data from another set of animals are pending."

The Methodist Hospital Research Institute's porcine study was performed in compliance with GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) guidelines, CE-Mark and FDA requirements.

"The study provided interim critical data that reinforced findings of our preliminary research that has indicated exceptional safety and biocompatibility of our proprietary coating technologies," said Arc W. Rajtar, Chief Technology Officer at MIVT Therapeutics. "This uncompromised biocompatibility stands behind the potential of MIVT's HAp coating technologies and their forecasted therapeutic advantages over the existing coatings and stent technologies currently available to the biomedical industry."

"The presentation by Dr. Kaluza was well-received and generated a great deal of interest within the medical device industry and between medical practitioners," said Mr. Rajtar. "Performance of our proprietary coatings in the animal model reinforced our long-standing confidence about the potential of our technologies to have a major impact in improving the efficacy and success of vascular stents and the quality of life for countless patients implanted with vascular stents and the variety of other medical devices."

Dr. Kaluza's presentation was entitled, "Biocompatibility of a Novel Ultra-Thin Hydroxyapatite Stent Coating in Normal Porcine Coronary Arteries." The presentation included scientific data gathered 3 months after implanting of stainless stents coated with highly-crystallinic calcium phosphate ceramic implanted in the coronary arteries of Yucatan minipigs.

The annual TCT conference is the preeminent scientific forum for the field of interventional vascular therapy and related fields, and is attended by more than 10,000 physicians, health care providers and professionals.

MIV Therapeutics is developing a diverse suite of HAp coating formulas to enable the surface of stents and other implanted devices to virtually mimic the natural state of structurally-sound 100% biocompatible and bio-active tissue. Hydroxyapatite, unlike polymer coatings, is naturally derived and found in such hard tissues and bioceramic materials as human bone and teeth. Research has indicated that MIVT's HAp coatings do not trigger the various adverse and inflammatory reactions that are often associated with implantation of polymer-coated stents and other foreign substances. HAp coatings are also expected to reduce the risk of thrombogenic (blood clotting) events attributable in some instances to polymer-coated stents.  Some of the most recent information presented at the TCT 2005 conference estimated that thrombogenicity was identified in 20,000 cases of implanted drug-eluting stents to date, resulting in approximately 8,000 premature deaths.

MIV Therapeutics Invited to Present Latest Data on Breakthrough Biofriendly Coating at Leading Medical Device Conference

Wednesday November 2, 3:30 am ET
Invitation Recognizes Potential of MIVT Proprietary Coating to Improve Stent and Drug-Delivery Effectiveness and Safety

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 2, 2005--MIV Therapeutics, Inc. (OTCBB:MIVT - News; FWB:MIV), a leading developer of new generation biocompatible coatings and advanced drug delivery systems, and its strategic research partner, the University of British Columbia, have been invited to present their latest achievements in research and development of novel coatings designed to significantly improve the therapeutic effectiveness and safety of vascular stents, drug-eluting stents and other implantable medical devices at the 2005 Materials & Processes for Medical Devices Conference on November 16, at the Park Plaza Hotel, in Boston, MA.
MIVT has developed a new line of ultra-thin and drug-eluting coatings for cardiovascular stents and other medical devices based on a material called Hydroxyapatite (HAp). Independent research studies have indicated that these HAp-based coatings provide superior biocompatibility compared to existing stent materials and coatings. The worldwide stent market currently totals approximately $6 billion, according to some estimates. Some biomedical industry analysts predict that the global market for drug-eluting stents and other drug-delivery applications will grow to $100 billion or more in coming years.

"Our presentation in Boston comes at a time when our coating technologies are maturing rapidly in preparation for introduction to the marketplace," said Alan Lindsay, Chairman and CEO of MIVT. "We have entered the final pre-commercialization phase of an intensive research and development program. The unparalleled biocompatibility of our unique coating technologies specifically addresses the weaknesses of existing products. Our solutions are designed to enable the multi-billion-dollar stent and medical device industry to create a new generation of significantly safer and more effective vascular stents and other devices."

Research directors from MIVT and the University of British Columbia (UBC) are scheduled to make the presentation entitled, "Hydroxyapatite Coatings for Coronary Stents", which will outline the progress of the research program and highlight the achievements made by the MIVT and UBC research teams. Arc Rajtar, MIVT's Chief Technology Officer, and Dr. Quanzu Yang, Ph.D., of the UBC's Department of Materials Engineering, are scheduled to deliver the presentation.

The research program to be presented focused on "wet" chemical technologies, including sol-gel, electro-chemical and electrophoretic methods of deposition, which resulted in ultra-thin (less than 1um) and micro-thin (1-10um) calcium-phosphate bio-ceramic films. The ultra-thin films are designed as a surface modification for metallic implants, and were shown to have resulted in exceptional biocompatibility for those implants. The micro-thin films were developed and evaluated also as a potential vehicle for drug delivery purposes for a variety of implantable medical devices.

"Stent coatings must withstand significant structural challenges during manufacturing and implantation, and must remain structurally sound, safe and biologically stable for years after implantation," said Mr. Rajtar. "We are pleased to report that our proprietary HAp deposition technologies successfully addressed these engineering challenges, confirmed by stringent evaluation test results, both on vitro and in-vivo, which we will also present at the Conference. These results, combined with the proven exceptional biocompatibility of our proprietary coating technologies sets a firm foundation for the development of a drug eluting platform superior to the technologies offered to the market at the present time."

The MIVT team consisted of Mr. Rajtar, Maurice Lien and Doug Smith. UBC scientists Dorna Hakimi, Muhrdad Keshmiri, Dr. Yang and Manus Tsui worked under the direction of Dr. Tom Troczynski, Ph.D., who is Vice President Coatings at MIVT as well as Professor of Ceramics, Dept. of Materials Engineering, at UBC.

MIVT's Proprietary Stent Coating Technology Completes Major Long-Term Animal Study with Excellent Results; Six-Month Study Demonstrates Unparalleled Biocompatibility and Safety of MIVT HAp Coatings for Drug-Eluting Stent Applications

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 15, 2005--
MIV Therapeutics, Inc. (OTCBB:MIVT) (FWB:MIV), a leading
developer of new generation biocompatible coatings and advanced drug
delivery systems, announced today that a pivotal long-term animal
study of its novel stent coating technology has been concluded, with
results that were unequivocally successful in demonstrating the
coating's excellent biocompatibility and safety.
The 6-month study, performed by Center for Research in
Cardiovascular Interventions of the Methodist Hospital Research
Institute, an independent research organization, indicated that MIVT's
Hydroxyapatite-based coatings were excellent candidates for advanced
drug-eluting stent coatings.
Dr. Greg L. Kaluza, MD, scientific director of the CRCI at the
Methodist Hospital Research Institute, was the lead investigator for
the study. Dr. Fred J. Clubb, Jr. of Texas Heart Institute served as a
study pathologist.
"The study's results are particularly encouraging for several
reasons," said Dr. Kaluza. "The polymeric stent coatings that are now
widely used are increasingly criticized as a suboptimal solution,
because many of them may elicit prolonged foreign body response and
foster platelet deposition which may in turn trigger in-stent
thrombosis," he said. "In contrast, the Hydroxyapatite coating we
studied is built entirely of a mineral native to the human body and as
such may have a long-term biocompatibility advantage."
The results of this recently completed study indicate this coating
may be safely used as a drug-eluting platform since it may be expected
from the present study that the Hydroxyapatite (HAp) coating will
remain inert in the arterial wall even long after the drug is
completely eluted. The well-known long-term neutral effects and
natural absorption of HAp coatings from orthopedic and dental implants
strongly reinforce this belief. The HAp coating with microporous
structure is expected to enable effective drug elution without ever
involving any polymer, a design concept that is currently viewed as
superior and the most attractive for drug-eluting stents."
"We now have a comprehensive set of data demonstrating that the
ultra-thin Hydroxyapatite coating with a potential for use in
non-polymeric and composite drug-eluting systems selected for this
study has excellent biocompatibility at all three studied time points,
up to as long as six months of observation," said Dr. Kaluza. "The
safety profile of the studied coating is exemplary and appears at
least on par with stainless steel stent surface, which remains a
benchmark whose biocompatibility has not been surpassed by any coating
to date."
Stents are devices implanted in the arteries to prop open the
blood vessels and maintain healthy blood flow to the heart and
throughout the body. MIVT has developed a next-generation line of
coatings based on a substance called Hydroxyapatite (HAp), to create
both passive and drug-eluting coatings designed to eliminate many of
the serious problems that are associated with current generations of
stent coatings.
"The study provided critical long-term data that reinforced our
preliminary research that has indicated the exceptional safety and
biocompatibility of our proprietary coating technologies," said Alan
Lindsay, CEO of MIVT. "The uncompromised biocompatibility stands
behind the potential of MIVT's HAp coating technologies and their
expected therapeutic advantages over the existing coatings and stent
technologies currently available to the biomedical industry."
The successful results of the animal study will enable MIVT to
plan future clinical trials to continue to advance its research and
product development programs for the multi-billion-dollar global stent
marketplace.
The study was conducted in a standard model of porcine coronary
arteries and utilized angiography, intravascular ultrasound and
histology to evaluate tissue response to HAp-coated stents in
comparison to identical stainless steel stents. The study was
performed in compliance with GLP (Good Laboratory Practice)
guidelines, CE-Mark and FDA requirements.
MIV Therapeutics is developing a diverse suite of HAp coating
formulas to enable the surface of stents and other implanted devices
to virtually mimic the natural state of structurally-sound 100%
biocompatible and bio-active tissue. Hydroxyapatite, unlike polymer
coatings, is naturally derived and found in such hard tissues and
bioceramic materials as human bone and teeth. Research has indicated
that MIVT's HAp coatings do not trigger the various adverse and
inflammatory reactions that are often associated with implantation of
polymer-coated stents and other foreign substances. HAp coatings are
also expected to reduce the risk of thrombogenic (blood clotting)
events attributable in some instances to polymer-coated stents. Some
of the most recent information presented at the TCT 2005 conference
estimated that thrombogenicity was identified in 20,000 cases of
implanted drug-eluting stents to-date, resulting in approximately
8,000 premature deaths.

MIV Therapeutics Reports Highly Favorable Results in Preclinical Study of Innovative Stroke Prevention Device; Unique Implantable Anti-Stroke Device Progress on Track for Approval and Potential Commercialization
12/2/05

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Dec 02, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
MIV Therapeutics, Inc. (OTCBB: MIVT) (FWB: MIV), a leading developer of next-generation biocompatible coatings and advanced drug delivery systems, today announced highly favorable results demonstrated by preclinical studies of a unique filtration device designed to prevent strokes and other serious complications that can result from common cardiac procedures and other causes.

Called the Aortic Embolic Protection Device (AEPD), this implantable instrument is designed for implantation in the aorta -- the main artery providing blood supply to the brain. Once positioned, the AEPD functions as a deflector and filter to prevent migration of embolic particles and blood clots that can obstruct or block blood vessels supplying the brain, and thus prevent strokes that can result in brain damage, disability or death. Stroke is the third leading cause of death and the leading cause of severe disability in the world.

The study was designed to measure the device's safety and to confirm critical positioning and performance following implantation in the aorta. The results of the study performed on sheep under varying conditions are considered medically significant, and reinforce the device's potential as a viable preventive tool to fight strokes in cardiac patients.

MIVT's SagaX subsidiary is developing the AEPD stroke-prevention device.

"We're excited by this pivotal data from the ongoing preclinical studies being conducted on our novel stroke prevention device," said Dr. Dov Shimon, CEO of SagaX, and a renowned heart surgeon who invented the Company's stroke-preventing technology. "The results provide further validation of the life-saving potential of our proprietary devices for cardiac patients. Our technology is at the cutting-edge of scientific development in the prevention of cardio-embolic stroke, but the success of our stroke-prevention devices is rooted in their functional simplicity and ease of use."

The animal studies with the AEPD are being performed in the Animal Heart Catheterization Laboratory of the Hadassah University Hospital in Jerusalem, Israel, under the stewardship of Dr. Chaim Danenberg, a Senior Cardiologist, and Dr. Haim Lotan, the Chairman of the Department of Cardiology. These advanced exploratory studies pave the way to further full-scale animal and human trials and ultimately the FDA approval process and commercialization.

News sources have recently reported that the global market for implantable stroke prevention devices is expanding rapidly worldwide, and could grow into a potential $500 million to $1 billion market segment in the next few years. MIVT is committed to capitalizing on that marketplace opportunity for high growth revenue with its proprietary AEPD stroke prevention technology.

It is anticipated that following further successes in preclinical tests and clinical human trials, a first-generation device could be approved and successfully commercialized within relatively short period of time.

"We're extremely pleased with the very promising performance of the aortic protection device in all of the bench and animal model studies performed thus far and we are looking forward to further development and testing," said Alan Lindsay, CEO and president of MIV Therapeutics. "We believe the AEPD can help to reduce the threat of disabling or fatal strokes for cardiovascular patients and other patients in the high risk category for stroke."

MIV Therapeutics Spotlights Newest Clinical Results of Company's HAp-Based Stent Coating on BiomedDiscoveries.com
Thursday December 15, 3:30 am ET
Chief Medical Officer Describes Positive Outcomes of Pivotal Study of Biocompatibility Coatings in Interview

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 15, 2005--BiomedDiscoveries.com -- http://www.BiomedDiscoveries.com, the online source for exclusive investor information in the biotechnology sector, today announced the online availability of a new Q&A style interview with Dr. Dov Shimon, Chief Medical Officer and Director of MIV Therapeutics (OTCBB:MIVT - News; FWB:MIV), a leading developer of new generation biocompatible coatings and advanced drug delivery systems.

In the interview, Dr. Shimon provides details of results from a pivotal long-term animal study of MIVT's proprietary Ultra-thin Hydroxyapatite (HAp) coating. In the recently completed study, a coronary stent coated with MIVT's HAp formulation was implanted in a porcine coronary artery. The coating was then studied over a six-month period to examine its biocompatibility, safety and efficacy in the animal's body.

The results showed the HAp coating to have, "superb compatibility and zero reactivity," Dr. Shimon said. "A number of variables were looked at in the study -- the exact measure of narrowing inside the stent reaction, beyond the stent, etc. -- and we're happy to report that there have been no adverse effects or reactions to the coating material."

He continued, "There are over one million patients every year who undergo implantation of coronary stents in the United States alone, to give an idea of how many patients' lives could be affected and improved by MIV Therapeutics' leadership in optimizing stent coating safety."

The study was performed at the Center for Research in Cardiovascular Interventions of the Methodist Hospital Research Institute, an independent research organization that is highly distinguished in the field.

Stents are coil-like metal devices that are used to prop open blocked arteries in cardiac patients. The results are expected to help pave the way to upcoming clinical trials with humans volunteers, and ultimately, to the Company's planned commercialization of this possible breakthrough technology in the fast-growing, multi-billion-dollar global stent marketplace.

MIVT Invited to Lecture on Proprietary Biocompatible Coatings for Implanted Medical Devices and Drug Delivery Systems
Thursday March 2, 3:30 am ET
Company Scientist Presents Data on Next Generation Coatings and Applications for Localized Treatment of Diseases

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 2, 2006--MIV Therapeutics Inc. (OTCBB:MIVT - News; FWB:MIV), a leading developer of next generation biocompatible coatings and advanced drug delivery systems for cardiovascular stents and other implantable medical devices, announced that one of its chief scientists presented a lecture at the University of Washington detailing recent research findings on the company's innovative drug delivery systems designed to improve the performance of currently available cardiovascular stents and other implantable medical devices and the targeted treatment of cardiovascular and other chronic diseases.

Prof. Tom Troczynski, VP of Coatings at MIVT presented the lecture entitled "Advances in Hydroxyapatite-Based Bio-Ceramic and Composite Thin Films for Implant Surface Modification and Drug Delivery," to the Faculty of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Washington, in Seattle WA, on Feb. 13, 2006.

Prof. Troczynski's presentation focused on the science of wet chemical technologies behind the novel ultra-thin and micro-thin HAp-based bio-ceramic coatings and drug delivery systems that MIVT has developed for cardiovascular stents, other implantable medical devices and localized drug delivery for the treatment of chronic diseases.

MIVT has developed a family of novel HAp-based device coatings and drug delivery systems that provide the highest level of performance, while avoiding or counter-measuring serious medical and biocompatibility problems demonstrated by the coating technologies of current drug delivery systems. A comprehensive range of animal trials by MIVT has confirmed research that MIVT's biocompatible HAp coatings do not trigger the adverse bodily reactions such as restinosis, thrombosis (dangerous blood clotting) and biocompatibility problems that are causing some concern in the medical implantable device marketplace.

Initial studies have confirmed that the HAp polymer-free coatings can be successfully used for the targeted delivery of anti-inflammatory and other drugs for orthopedic and cardiovascular applications. The delivery of localized therapies to other organs of the body is also under intense investigation and is expected to deliver breakthrough solutions for the treatment of many chronic diseases including Cancer. MIVT believes that the future treatment of diseases will rely heavily on the novel HAp-based drug delivery systems and novel polymer-free drug delivery systems developed by the company.

Prof. Troczynski also reviewed the HAp-based products' demonstrated ability to maintain structural and functional integrity and performance through deployment in the body and during long-term use following implantation.

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Washington is recognized as one of the world's top providers of education in the materials field. "The direct interaction of faculty and research staff from different universities and scientific institutions is a powerful mechanism for the advancement of our fundamental and applied knowledge of complex biomaterials systems," said Prof. Troczynski. "The proximity of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering to our laboratories at UBC in Vancouver makes such contacts particularly attractive to both organizations. We have hosted the MSE researchers and faculty in the past and we will benefit from this continuous learning process as we develop new applications for our coating and drug delivery technologies in the important cardiovascular and orthopedic fields."

MIV Therapeutics Subsidiary, SagaX Inc., Accelerates Development of Surgical Stroke Prevention Device Towards Commercialization
Friday March 10, 4:01 pm ET
First Generation Device Could be Ready for Clinical Use Within 14 Months

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 10, 2006--MIV Therapeutics (OTCBB:MIVT - News; FWB:MIV) a leading developer of next generation biocompatible coatings and advanced drug delivery systems for cardiovascular stents and other implantable medical devices, has announced that it has accelerated development of a novel stroke-preventing implantable device for surgical patients, and may have the device ready for clinical use within 14 months, subject to regulatory approval.

The Aortic Embolic Protection Device (AEPD) is being developed by MIVT's wholly owned subsidiary, SagaX Inc., located in Herzlyia, Israel. SagaX is a developer of advanced biomedical technology, including the embolic protection devices for the prevention of strokes. MIVT recently announced the strengthening of the SagaX research and development program with the appointments of four new key executives and scientists.

The AEPD under development at SagaX is a unique and proprietary filter/deflector device designed specifically to prevent cardioembolic stroke following heart surgery. It works by diverting particles in the bloodstream that might otherwise reach the brain and cause strokes that can cause irreversible damage to the delicate tissue of the brain. The AEPD device is designed for easy insertion and positioning in patients by surgeons during the operation, and can be removed at the end of the procedure.

SagaX Inc. is also developing further generations of anti-embolic devices to protect the brain, for applications including trans-catheter procedures and for patients with high risk for cardioembolic stroke, such as those that have had a previous stroke, rhythm disturbance or received a prosthetic valve. The AEPD and similar devices could become commonplace in the near future, enhancing the success of cardiac procedures, and more importantly, improving the individual patient's health, longevity and quality of life.

The highly innovative SagaX AEPD device is designed to significantly reduce stroke occurrence, following heart operations. The occurrence of significant cardioembolic stroke following surgery is estimated between one and four percent, although minor neurological deficit is seen in as much as 15% to 30% of surgical patients.

Stroke is the third leading cause of death, and the leading cause of disability. According to a recent publication of the American Heart Association (AHA), each year about 700,000 Americans experience a new or recurrent stroke. About 500,000 of these are first attacks, and 200,000 are recurrent attacks. It is also stated that the estimated direct and indirect cost of stroke in the US alone for 2006 is $57.9 billion.

On his recent trip to the facilities in Israel, Alan Lindsay, Chairman and CEO of MIVT, said: "I am extremely impressed with the rapid development of this life saving technology. I am especially pleased with the quality and dedication of our talented team in Israel."

Recent reports indicate that the global market for implantable stroke prevention devices is expanding rapidly worldwide, and will grow into a $500 million to $1 billion market segment in the next few years.

I was doing a little reading over the weekend and came across this possible gem (MIVT) and just bought some this morning:

MIV Therapeutics (MIVT) is developing a next-generation line of advanced biocompatible coatings for passive and drug-eluting applications on cardiovascular stents and a broad range of other implantable medical devices. The Company's ultra-thin coating formulation is designed to protect surrounding tissue from potentially harmful interactions with bare metallic stents. The Company's unique ultra-thin coating platform is derived from an organic material called hydroxyapatite (HAp) which has demonstrated excellent safety and biocompatibility in vivo animal studies. Hydroxyapatite is a bioactive porous material that makes up the bone mineral and matrix of teeth and is widely used today as a bone substitute material and for coatings on implantable fixation devices in orthopedic, dental and other applications. The Company's novel polymer-free drug eluting technologies based on Hydroxyapatite could also provide an attractive alternative to current polymer-based drug eluting coatings on the stent market, which have been associated with undesirable medical effects. The Company's drug eluting coatings are additionally designed to suit a broad range of implantable medical devices that could benefit from highly customizable drug release profiles. MIVT has a Collaborative Research Agreement (CRA) with the University of British Columbia and has received Government grant for its research program on the "Development of Novel Drug Eluting Composite Coatings for Cardiovascular Stents," under the National Research Council-Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP). Under this sponsorship, the Company is expected to complete its drug-eluting research and development program and to reach product commercialization stage.

Excellent Results from Preclinical Study of Biocompatible Polymer-Free Drug Eluting Stent Coating Technologies Paves the Way Towards Human Trials

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MIV Therapeutics Inc. (OTCBB:MIVT - News; FWB:MIV), a leading developer of next-generation biocompatible polymer-free drug-eluting stents and advanced drug delivery systems, announced today that a comparative animal study of two of its novel polymer-free drug-eluting stent coating technologies has concluded with positive results.

This study compared stents coated with MIVT's polymer-free drug-eluting technologies to the J&J Cypher(TM) stent, one of the world's best selling drug-eluting stents. The Study successfully demonstrated that both of MIVT's proprietary, polymer-free, Sirolimus eluting coatings are at least as good as Johnson & Johnson's Cypher(TM) Stent. The study also demonstrated MIVT's coatings' potential and efficacy when compared to Cypher(TM).

The independently conducted four-week porcine study, performed by the Department of Cardiology, Thoraxcenter, Erasmus University Medical Center in the Netherlands, indicated that three variations of MIV's polymer-free Drug-Eluting coatings were at least as effective as -- and in some cases, better -- than Johnson & Johnson's Cypher, one of the world's leading drug-eluting cardiovascular stents.

Dr Willem J. van der Giessen, MD, PhD, Interventional Cardiologist and Dr. Heleen M.M van Beusekom, PhD, Experimental Cardiology, from the Thoraxcenter at the Erasmus University Medical Center were the study directors. The objectives of the study were to evaluate the safety of MIVT's Hydroxyapatite coating and to assess the efficacy of MIVT Sirolimus coated stents in a porcine coronary model.

The results from the first part of the study, conducted with no drug added to the coatings, showed that HAp coated stents and bare metal stents did best and performed equally well.

The results from the second part of the study, with drugs added to the coatings, showed that all of the MIVT drug-eluting technologies performed at least as well, and in some cases better than the industry's benchmark, the J&J Cypher(TM) stent.

The study concluded that MIV's HAp coating, with or without drugs, demonstrated highly promising performance. Based on these results the company will begin preparations for human implantation.

"The results of this study indicate that our drug-eluting polymer-free technologies are at least on par with the best in the world. We believe we have very strong candidates for a superior product as we move into the next phase of our regulatory program," said Dr. Mark Landy, President of MIV Therapeutics.

The study was conducted in a standard model of porcine coronary arteries and utilized angiography and histology to evaluate tissue response to stents coated with MIVT's proprietary polymer-free coatings in comparison to identical bare metal stents and also stents coated with MIVT's proprietary Sirolimus eluting technology to J&J's Cypher(TM) (Sirolimus) stent.

MIV Therapeutics is developing a diverse suite of Polymer-Free HAp coating formulas to improve the biocompatibility of stents and other implantable medical devices. Hydroxyapatite (HAp) occurs naturally in human bones and teeth. It rapidly integrates into the human body and has been shown to have excellent stability and biocompatibility. HAp is non-toxic, non-thrombogenic, non-inflammatory and has been shown to promote angiogenesis.

HAp coatings are also expected to reduce the increased risk of deadly blood clots currently associated with today's polymeric drug-eluting stents. Recent information presented at leading cardiology conferences estimated that blood clots have been identified in at least 20,000 cases of implanted drug-eluting stents to-date, resulting in approximately 8,000 premature deaths.

MIVT recently announced that it intends to begin the first human implants of a HAp Nano Film Coated stent early in 2007. Human implantation represents a significant milestone in MIVT's strategic plan to develop a new class of polymer-free drug-eluting stents that could provide patients with superior outcomes.

MIV Therapeutics 'Buy/4' Rating, $2.50 Target Valuation Reiterated In Research Note By Investrend Affiliate SISM Research, Indicating Greater Market Potential And Citing Recent Superior Performance of Stent Coating Technologies In Recent Tests
Friday December 8, 8:30 am ET
MIVT's Biocompatible Polymer-Free Drug-Eluting Stent Coating Technologies Shown in Tests to be Better Than the Industry's Benchmark Cypher Stent, One of the World's Best Selling Drug-Eluting Stents

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--(Investrend Research Syndicate) Ernest C. Schlotter, a senior analyst with Investrend affiliate SISM Research and a four star analyst according to StarMine, has reiterated his "Buy/4" Rating and $2.50 12-month Target Valuation for MIV Therapeutics, Inc. (OTCBB: MIVT - News) in a Research Note.

The full Research Note, including important disclosures and disclaimers, is available at http://www.sism.com and http://www.investrendresearch.com. In it, analyst Schlotter said:

"Just last Wednesday, MIVT announced remarkable results from preclinical studies of two of its novel biocompatible polymer-free drug-eluting stent coating technologies that matched or even outperformed Cordis' and Boston Scientific's drug eluting stents. The independently conducted four-week porcine study at the Erasmus University Medical Center in the Netherlands compared stents coated with MIVT's polymer-free drug-eluting technologies to the industry's benchmark, the J&J Cypher stent, one of the world's best selling drug-eluting stents. Three variations of MIVT's polymer-free Sirolimus eluting coatings were at least as effective as -- and in some cases, better -- than Johnson & Johnson's Cypher drug-eluting cardiovascular stents. Based on these results, MIVT will begin preparations for human implantation.

"MIV Therapeutics is developing a diverse suite of polymer-free HAp coating formulas...

"The drug-eluting stent market grew from zero to $5.3 billion in three years and has captured 85% of the US stent market. To date, more than nine million DES devices have been inserted. In 2005, about 1.5 million patients were implanted with drug-eluting stents in the US alone...

"Despite a stock price increase of more than 50% since last Wednesday, in our view, MIVT, at a market cap of only $35 million, is still massively undervalued... MIV Therapeutics is paying SISM Research $2,250 per month over a two-year period solely to ensure independent coverage."

MIV Therapeutics Executes Milestone Agreement to Acquire Biosync Scientific, a Leading Indian Interventional Cardiology Company
Monday December 11, 3:30 am ET
Acquisition Provides MIVT with Highly Competitive CE Marked Bare Metal Stent Platform

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MIV Therapeutics Inc. (OTCBB: MIVT - News; FWB: MIV), a leading developer of next-generation biocompatible polymer-free drug-eluting stents and advanced drug delivery systems, announced that it has entered into a formal agreement to acquire Biosync Scientific, an India-based designer and developer of innovative interventional cardiology products, including cardiovascular stents.

Biosync Scientific provides MIVT with a highly competitive bare metal stent platform that compares favorably with the best bare metal stents available today. Both Biosync's stainless steel and thin-strut cobalt chromium stent platforms are CE Mark-certified for use in Europe and other countries around the world where the CE Mark is recognized such as India. MIVT will use the Biosync stent platform as the underlying bare-metal stent platform for its proprietary biocompatible polymer-free next generation drug-eluting stents.

The Biosync Scientific acquisition which is subject to the prior satisfaction of certain conditions, is the latest step in MIVT's strategic plan to become a world leader in the $8 billion plus interventional cardiology market. In September, MIVT entered into a formal agreement to acquire Vascore Medical, a China-based manufacturer and distributor of advanced interventional cardiology devices.

Biosync Scientific was founded by Rajesh Vaishnav, a well known and highly respected authority in the Indian Interventional Cardiology Industry. Over the past decade Mr. Vaishnav has been responsible for developing many of the leading bare-metal and drug-eluting stents currently being sold in India and other emerging markets around the world. Mr. Vaishnav will join MIVT as Chief Executive Officer of Biosync Scientific.

"The acquisition of Biosync Scientific brings us not only a highly competitive CE Mark stent platform for our revolutionary polymer-free drug-eluting coatings, but also the expertise and experience of Mr. Vaishnav, one of India's most respected and well known stent authorities," said Dr. Mark Landy, President of MIV Therapeutics. "It is an honor to welcome Mr. Vaishnav and his team to the MIVT family, and we look forward to working together with them as we continue to build our brand around the world."

Biosync Scientific's stated mission is to improve the quality of patient care and the productivity of health care delivery through the development and advocacy of less-invasive medical devices and procedures. This is accomplished through the continuing refinement of existing products and procedures and the investigation and development of new technologies which can reduce risk, trauma, cost, procedure time and the need for aftercare.

About MIV Therapeutics, Inc.

MIV Therapeutics is developing a next-generation line of advanced biocompatible coatings for passive and drug-eluting applications on cardiovascular stents and a broad range of other implantable medical devices. The Company's novel polymer-free drug-eluting technologies based on Hydroxyapatite could also provide an attractive alternative to current polymer-based drug-eluting coatings on the stent market, which have been associated with undesirable medical effects. The Company's drug-eluting coatings are additionally designed to suit a broad range of implantable medical devices that could benefit from highly customizable drug release profiles. MIV Therapeutics Announces Market Launch of the GenX CrCo Stent and Seven Associated Interventional Cardiology Products by Biosync Scientific
Thursday December 14, 3:30 am ET
Launch is a Key Milestone in the Company's Mission to Deliver a Broad Range of Products to the Interventional Cardiology Community

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MIV Therapeutics Inc. (OTCBB:MIVT - News; FWB:MIV), a leading developer of next-generation biocompatible polymer-free drug-eluting stents and advanced drug delivery systems, has announced that Biosync Scientific, which the Company has a formal agreement to acquire, has introduced a portfolio of new cardiovascular stents and related products at the 58th Annual Meeting of The Cardiological Society (CSI) of India, held recently in New Delhi.

The seven newly announced products validate MIVT's mission to become a leading interventional cardiology company focused on delivering a broad suite of advanced cardiovascular stents and related products to patients, physicians and hospitals around the world.

The new products include the GenX CrCo thin-strut coronary stent system, the GenX stainless steel coronary stent system, the X-ACT Inflation Device, a haemostatic y-connector adaptor kit, an insertion tool, a guide wire torquer and a high-pressure 3-way stopcock.

Notably, the products have all been CE Mark certified, a mandatory European community stamp of approval that enables products to be sold in Europe and other key markets around the world.

MIVT and Biosync will roll out these products over the next quarter, under a strategic plan that will deliver them first to the interventional cardiology community in India, to be followed with distribution in other countries in Asia, Europe, Latin America and elsewhere.

The products allow MIVT to accelerate the development of its brand and distributor relationships around the world as the Company prepares for the commercialization of its broad range of hydroxyapatite (HAp) coated stents, polymer-free drug-eluting stents, and other interventional cardiology products.

"This launch is an important milestone in the transformation of MIV Therapeutics into a full-fledged interventional cardiology company with a broad product portfolio and deep product pipeline," said Dr. Mark Landy, President of MIV Therapeutics. "Given the exceptional response from CSI members, we believe that these products will become instrumental in the treatment of coronary heart disease around the world for many years to come."

Dr. Landy added, "The launch of these products provides MIVT an opportunity to develop strong relations with established distribution networks around the world as we prepare the market for the roll out our HAp-coated and polymer-free biocompatible drug-eluting stents and other associated interventional cardiology products."

The recently announced proposed Biosync Scientific acquisition is the latest step in MIVT's strategic plan to become a world leader in the $8 billion plus interventional cardiology market.

Investrend Affiliate SISM Research 'Morning Note' Reiterates MIV Therapeutics 'Buy/4' Rating, $2.50 Target Valuation, Citing Plans To Introduce New Products In Key Global Markets Next Quarter
Monday December 18, 10:03 am ET
MIVT announced Biosync's seven new CE Mark-certified cardiovascular stents and related products to be sold in India, then Europe, Asia and Latin America

(OTCBB: MIVT - News) in a "Morning Note."

The full Research Note, including important disclosures and disclaimers, is available at http://www.sism.com and http://www.investrendresearch.com. In it, analyst Schlotter said:

"Last Thursday MIVT announced that Biosync now has a portfolio of seven new CE Mark-certified cardiovascular stents and related products that can be sold in Europe and other key markets around the world. The launch of Biosync products opens the door for MIVT's HAp-coated DES and other associated interventional cardiology products, once CE Mark-certified.

"Biosync has strong relations in India and around the world with established distribution networks. The angioplasty market in India ($60M) offers huge opportunities for MIVT. Approx. 70,000 angioplasties are performed every year in India, accounting for only 0.007% of the one billion strong ageing populations. MIVT will primarily targeting the DES market outside the U.S. is estimated to reach $4 billion in 2008."

SISM Research believes that the Biosync acquisition will help the Company in a short time to realize the full potential of its earning power and further drive its valuation. At a market valuation of only $56M the Research Company believes that MIVT is significantly undervalued.

MIV Therapeutics is paying SISM Research $2,250 per month over a two-year period solely to ensure independent coverage."

I came across this company this weekend and liked everything I read about them.

"..."We feel very confident that fiscal year 2007 will be the most exciting and rewarding in MIVT's history," said Dr. Mark Landy. "We will leverage these funds to promote the various strategic initiatives that are currently positioning MIVT to capitalize on the growing international markets for stent technology..."

If somebody like JNJ or BSX picked them up this could explode which is why I'm going to buy some at the open!

ATLANTA--MIV Therapeutics (OTCBB:MIVT - News; FWB:MIV), a leading developer of next generation biocompatible coatings and advanced drug delivery systems for Cardiovascular stents and other implantable medical devices, is pleased to announce that results from an animal trial comparing its proprietary polymer free Hydroxyapatite-coated drug-eluting cardiovascular stent to J&J's Cypher Stent will be presented at this weeks EuroPCR 2007 conference in Barcelona, Spain.

Dr Willem J. van der Giesen, MD, PhD from the Erasmus University Medical Center will make a presentation on next generation drug eluting stents, in which he will discuss the results of the 4 week porcine study, performed by the Department of Cardiology, Thoraxcenter, Erasmus University Medical Center in the Netherlands, an independent research organization.

The study indicated that three variations of MIVT's Hydroxyapatite-based Drug-Eluting stents were at least as effective as, and in some cases, better than one of the worlds leading drug-eluting cardiovascular stents produced by Johnson & Johnson (Cypher(TM)). These results provided the necessary data to advance the technology to human studies.

Some of the most recent information presented at various conferences estimated that thrombogenicity was identified in at least 20,000 cases of implanted drug-eluting stents to-date, resulting in approximately 8,000 premature deaths.

EuroPCR is a major European event based on the exchanged of scientific information and education for interventional cardiologists.

MIV Therapeutics Comments on Sale
of SagaX to Focus on Cardiology Segment
MIV Therapeutics, Inc. (MIVT) has entered into a definitive Share Purchase
Agreement to sell all of its issued and outstanding shares of
SagaX Inc. in Israel for consideration of $4.0 million plus future royalties
on sales of 8.0%. The purchaser is Israeli-based Shimoco LLC,
which is owned and controlled by and Dr. Dov Shimon, the founder of
SagaX, who has resigned from his position on the company's Board of
Directors as a consequence of the entering into of the Share Purchase
Agreement. SagaX is principally engaged in the business of developing
a neuro-vascular embolic stent filter medical device, called an Anti
Embolic Protection Device. "This transaction is a win-win for all parties,"
commented Dr. Mark Landy, president of MIV Therapeutics. "The sale
of SagaX will allow MIV to better focus on its goal of being a leader in
the interventional cardiology space, and saves us in excess of $1.0 million
or more annually in development costs, while freeing up SagaX to
pursue other financing avenues." MIVT develops ultra thin, polymer-free
passive and drug-eluting coatings for cardiovascular stents and a broad
range of other implantable medical devices. The Company's proprietary
ultra-thin, hydroxyapatite (HAp) based polymer-free coating has demonstrated
excellent safety and biocompatibility in animal studies and
human clinical trials. Hydroxyapatite is a naturally occurring porous
material that makes up human bone mineral and the matrix of human
teeth and is widely used today as a bone substitute material and for
coatings on implantable fixation devices in orthopedic, dental and other
applications. Through a Collaborative Research Agreement (CRA)
with The University of British Columbia, the Company has received a
Canadian Government grant for its research program. Introduction of
new biocompatible polymer-free coatings is expected to provide an attractive
alternative to current polymer-based drug-eluting coatings especially
in the drug eluting stent market, where it is widely believed that
polymers are associated with an increase in undesirable side effects
that may be fatal. Last week, the Drugs Controller General of India, the
governmental agency with regulatory authority over medical products,
approved two of the Company's bare metal stents for manufacture and
sale in India. The GenX(TM) Stainless Steel Coronary Stent & Stent
System and the GenX(TM) CrCo Chromium Cobalt Coronary Stent &
Stent System along with the Company's additional angioplasty products
will be officially launched into the Indian market beginning December 5,
2007, through third party distributors. Dr. Landy noted, "This regulatory
achievement permits MIV Therapeutics' entree into one of the world's
fastest growing stent markets with a highly competitive offering, and
allows us to continue refining and increasing our manufacturing capability
as we advance the clinical development of our unique drug-eluting
stents using our advanced biocompatible coatings and drug delivery
technology."

MIVT's CEO Discusses Company's
Next Generation of Drug Eluting Stents...

MIV Therapeutics Inc (MIVT) develops a line of advanced bio-pa1ge
compatible coatings for passive and drug-eluting applications
on cardiovascular stents, as well as for a broad range of other
implantable medical devices.
The Company's ultra-thin coating formulation is designed to protect surrounding
tissue from potentially harmful interactions with bare metallic stents. This
coating platform is derived from hydroxyapatite (HAp), an organic material that has demonstrated
excellent in vivo safety and biocompatibility. Hydroxyapatite is a porous material that
makes up the bone mineral and matrix of teeth, and is widely used today as a bone substitute
material and for coatings on implantable fixation devices in orthopedic, dental and other applications.
MIV Therapeutics recently began enrollment in a registration trial for its VESTAsync(TM)
polymer-free drug-eluting stent. Based on excellent nine-month human safety and efficacy
data, the Company has accelerated its original timeline for the VESTASYNC II trial, which is
designed to test the efficacy of the VESTAsync(TM) in a sufficient number of patients to form
the basis of a regulatory filing for marketing approval in Europe. It is anticipated that these
patient data will also be part of an eventual submission to the U.S. FDA.
Dr. Mark Landy, President and CEO of MIV Therapeutics, told Knobias on Tuesday, "The
VESTAsync(TM) technology is a drug eluting stent with a drug delivery technology that, unlike
its competitors, is made of substances that occurs naturally in the human body rendering it extremely
biocompatible and a promoter of expedited healing. Based on its numerous attributes
such as ultra thin struts, low coating thickness (0.6 microns making it over ten time thinner
than the thinnest drug eluting stent coating available today), and low drug dose (60% less
than Cypher) patients who receive VESTAsync should heal faster with 100% stent endothelial
coverage and acquire significantly less dual antiplatelet therapy than those receiving polymer
based drug eluting stents, which are the only one available today."
"No other company has taken a polymer free DES through FIM. Two companies (Atrium and
Biosensors) have started studies, but we will have to wait for results to see if they will be direct
competitors in the polymer free DES market. Companies that are selling polymer based drug
eluting stents include Johnson and Johnson, Abbott, Boston Scientific, Medtronic, Terumo,
Biosensors, and a number of smaller companies with me too technology."
VESTAsync was recently featured in Scientific American, an online science, health, and
technology source. According to the article, "...such devices are just as good as bare metal
stents at keeping arteries open and less likely than polymer-coated stents -- which typically
administer a drug to keep tissue growth at bay -- to contribute to blood clotting, irritation and
inflammation."
"We have developed a drug delivery system that can be used on stents and other implantable
medical devices that is polymer-free and can administer medication to the local tissue to keep
an artery from re-closing," the article quotes Dr. Landy. "Patients who receive drug-coated
polymer stents are generally required to take Plavix or another anticoagulant for at least a
year after an angioplasty, in addition to the medicine dispensed by the stents. MIV's goal is to
create a drug eluting stent with the safety profile and deliverability of a bare metal stent."
Dr. Landy explained to Knobias, "VESTAsync is not another me too drug eluting stent and
should not be tarnished with the same concerns that have plagued the first and second generation
of drug eluting stents. VESTAsync is a new concept aimed at combining bare metal
stent safety with drug eluting stent efficacy thereby eliminating all the drawbacks of current
drug eluting stents and rejuvenating the drug eluting stent market."

For the past seven years, the Company has funded operations in the
public markets. The Company does not currently have any development
partners other than The University of British Columbia who developed
the original technology.
Dr. Landy added, "We are not making any public comments at this time
regarding partnerships or potential partnerships. We have publicly announced
six products in angioplasty available for sale, including CE approved
bare metal stents. We are actively working on pipeline products
but have not made these public."
The Company announced on Monday that its board of directors approved
a one-for-10 reverse stock split of the company's approximately
116 million issued and outstanding common shares.
"We view the split as a positive move to benefit both the company and
its shareholders. It is expected to result in an increase in attractiveness
to institutional investors," commented Dr. Landy. He added, "The split
will also adjust the authorized and outstanding shares to a level better
suited to a company of our size."
