To me it looks that the volume is hardly supporting price action. So watchout for volume.

I believe they said in their conference that they expect a product in 2 years which is a short-time for this field.  Hopefully, it will pan out.

ARIA has been acting real well since your post.  It formed a bull flag, then broke out of that AND  the five-month symmetrical triangle on July 8.  It re-tested the breakout Tuesday and yesterday, then printed $7.39, within a penny of your target.  Applause.  Looks like it's going higher.

The stock failed to reach its Feb high of $8.05 ,,it closed below the 1.118 harmonic,,$7.61,,several other indicators are also becoming negative,,so if it drops back down to $7.40..will close out,and take profit.

ARIA>>>>Since Aug 04' (its previous low) of appox $3 area....this stock has sucessfully tested a 50% retracement twice at the $6 area...It has bounced off the $7.50 Overhead resistance three times now and after this last exhaustive push, it has sucessfully broken through and now finds support at the $7.50 area.  Excellent volume is entering the stock in excess of 2 million daily shares and I can see this stock moving to the $10-12 area without too much effort. As long as daily volume continues at these level I would be a rider of this stock....May be wrong.......so do your own DD...in the mean time keep this in mind...happy trading

Title: Stock Charts--ARIA

Elite G,  I admire your input to this board and I want to learn more about TA. Specifically, I'm trying to learn how to determine which points do you use to draw the lines that indicate the breakout and support levels.

On the ARIA 2 year chart I have the breakout point of $8.09 and the support level at $6.09.  Am I in the ballpark?  Also, do you have any opinion of  ARIA?

              Thanks a lot,

                                             John

thanks balto..I draw my lines kinda loosely because I believe its the idea behind the lines thats important..not the exact value.  Your breakout and support levels look valid, I wrote up a chart with some TA for ARIA.  I believe they have earnings Monday so they may move big pre-market.  I almost picked it as my earnings play.  It looks solid as long as you use nice stops  ;)  lets see what Monday has in store.

acklide,

Thanks for alert.  Applause.

Interesting trading in ARIA. The recent highs were 7.11 and 7.14.  A few days ago, ARIA broke 5.52 support.  When they re-opened ARIA after the halt, they opened it at 7.10, all the way through the entire trading range, to the top of the trading range.

It got to 7.78, then pulled back to lows of 6.54 and 6.55, so far.

ARIA currently is BID 6.71...ASK 6.72

Just bought some ARIA premarket at 6.21, which is only up about 2% from its closing price yesterday.  But it has traded almost 4 million shares already on this news:

DOW JONES NEWSWIRES

Ariad Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ARIA) will receive an initial $75 million payment
from Merck & Co. (MRK) after the companies agreed to jointly develop and
commercialize Ariad's AP23573 product as a cancer drug.

Ariad, a Cambridge, Mass., drug discovery company, said the agreement
provides for up to $452 million or more in milestone payments and up to $200
million more based on achievement of significant sales thresholds.

Ariad said the deal also includes at least $200 million in estimated
contributions by Merck to global development and up to $200 million in
interest-bearing repayable development-cost advances.

The company said a Phase III trial of AP23573 in patients with metastatic
sarcomas will begin this quarter. AP23573 inhibits the "master switch" protein
mTOR in cancer cells.

Ariad had 2006 revenue of $900,000.
