Price/Volume action... ;)
Speculative,but the base is in.
Set a tight stop and roll the dice ;)
... for CMGI to rise. It certainly deserves a speculative buy.
Nice find Setravis, great trendline break as David has shown, good volume Friday on a low volume pre Holiday weekend should set up Tuesday follow through, some resistance in the mid $2.30's, but not too much vol tied up in that, it will need to take out that area though to break the lower highs trend. Added to my candidates list thanks.
Mike
I agree. This is a nice long.
Thanks....I rolled the dice on it also.
As did David of 3stocksonfire.
turned out to be a nice play..... ;)
This is a great bunch of stock pickers we got here....
Power to 3stocksonfire.....good luck members in all your trades!! ;)
Thanks for the post mek.
David,CMGI......looking good earnings came out.

;)
CMGI is up 9% today on big volume. I haven't seen any news. It was doing fine until earnings disappointed, but it held the up trendline, and has been trading sideways since.
I like the turnaround story of this stock, which has to be the Poster Child for the internet disaster. This was the "internet incubator" stock. CMGI now is into Supply Chain Management and Logistics Software.
It's currently 2.06 BID ... 2.06 ASK, up $0.14. I wonder if it will show up on David's volume filter tonight.
EDIT: 2.06 BID, not 3.06 BID. Sorry.
Breakout from this base, good strong volume.

Breakout from this base, good strong volume.
Yeah, it's been in a tight range since the June 6 earnings disappointment. Why would anyone be disappointed? They should be thrilled that this company survived ;D
I bought CMGI at $1.98 on June 7, on the gap down from $2.27. $1.98 was a gap fill from the May 26 gap up. Yesterday's rally might only have been the MOMO boys jumping in when they saw the stock crossing the psychological $2.00. We'll see. In the meantime, I'm glad to be in the black on this one, by a few pennies. ;) Chart looks okay.
Are we ready for another run? Play it again Sam?

All statements other than statements of historical fact are forward-looking statements. The following important factors and uncertainties, among others, could cause actual results to differ materially from those described in these forward-looking statements: ModusLink's success, including its ability to expand its operations, depends on its ability to execute on its business strategy and the continued and increased demand for and market acceptance of its products and services; ModusLink's management may face strain on managerial and operational resources as they try to oversee the expanded operations; ModusLink frequently sells to its supply chain management clients on a purchase order basis rather than pursuant to long-term contracts or contracts with minimum purchase requirements, and therefore its sales are subject to demand variability; and increased competition and technological changes in the markets in which ModusLink competes. I am with you on this one. This is the first piece of news generated by the company in who knows how long. I believe earnings are due out in about 3 weeks so I'm hoping for some kind of momo heading into that. The price just closed above the decending trend starting from the high at the beginning of June. Typically if it moves it makes its move quickly so if interested keep a sharp eye on it.

I'm ready! ;D
Still holding from $1.98, the gap fill on the June 7 earnings gap down from 2.27.
Even if this news doesn't do much to pop the stock, I think it's a decent long-term hold, given the company's transformation from being "the internet incubator" (which really meant "Poster Child For Financial Disaster") to a company that now has real earnings prospects.
Technically, CMGI has been basing for 4 years and now is flirting with the Symmetrical Triangle trendline support. If that doesn't hold, it might test the blue up trendline.
Given the turnaround in the company, I think it's got a chance to double in the next 2-4 years, which would be a 50% or 25% annualized return, depending on how long it takes, if it works out.
Pre earnings run?

CMGI Reports Fourth Quarter and Full Fiscal Year 2005 Financial Results
Monday October 3, 4:00 pm ET
CMGI Reports Strong Operating Results for First Full Year After Modus Media Acquisition
WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 3, 2005--CMGI, Inc. (Nasdaq: CMGI - News) today reported financial results for its full fiscal year and fourth quarter ended July 31, 2005.
Year Over Year Operating Highlights
Net Revenue, Increased $672.3 million, or 169%
Operating Income, Improved by $29.3 million, or 124%
Gross Margins, Increased from 6% to 11%
Annualized Integration Savings, Achieved $28.0 million
exceeding the $20.0 million target
"Approximately one year ago, we said that fiscal 2005 would be a profitable year for CMGI and I'm pleased to report that it was," said Joseph C. Lawler, President and Chief Executive Officer. "The year saw the Company's first quarterly and annual operating profit in nine years and significant improvements across key operation and financial measures. Moving forward, we've built and are executing our strategic plan which we expect will result in improved gross margins and lower operating expenses in the coming years," added Lawler.
Fiscal Year
CMGI reported net revenue of $1.1 billion for the fiscal year ended July 31, 2005. This compares to net revenue of $397.4 million for the fiscal year ended July 31, 2004, an increase of $672.3 million, or 169% year over year. This increase was primarily attributable to the Company's acquisition of Modus Media on August 2, 2004.
CMGI reported operating income of $5.7 million for the fiscal year ended July 31, 2005, compared to an operating loss of $23.7 million for the fiscal year ended July 31, 2004, an improvement of $29.3 million, or 124%. This improved performance was largely due to the acquisition of Modus Media, which provided significant financial benefits including expansion into higher margin business verticals, service offerings and geographies as well as synergies that allowed the Company to reduce costs by eliminating redundancies. The Company achieved savings related to integration of approximately $28.0 million, on an annualized basis. Partially offsetting these improved financial results were significant costs associated with Sarbanes-Oxley 404 compliance readiness actions and SAS 70 reviews for clients which totaled approximately $5.8 million. The fiscal 2005 operating income also included charges related to the amortization of intangible assets and stock-based compensation and depreciation totaling $21.1 million and net restructuring charges of $5.3 million. Included in the Company's fiscal 2004 operating loss were charges related to the amortization of stock-based compensation and depreciation totaling $7.1 million, and net restructuring charges of $5.6 million.
CMGI reported net income of $26.5 million, or $0.06 diluted earnings per share for fiscal 2005, compared to net income of $87.0 million, or $0.22 diluted earnings per share for fiscal 2004. The net income in fiscal 2005 included a non-cash income tax benefit of approximately $23.9 million as a result of a reduction in the Company's estimate of certain income tax liabilities that had been included in accrued income taxes on the Company's balance sheet. The net income in fiscal 2004 included a $40.5 million gain by the Company's AltaVista subsidiary on the sale of approximately 3.2 million shares of Overture Services, Inc. common stock, and a non-cash income tax benefit of approximately $76.4 million.
Excluding the effects of charges related to depreciation, amortization of intangible assets and stock-based compensation, and restructuring, CMGI reported non-GAAP operating income of $32.0 million for the fiscal year ended July 31, 2005 versus non-GAAP operating loss of $11.0 million in the fiscal year ended July 31, 2004. Similar to the year over year improvements noted in the discussion above of our GAAP results, the $43.0 million, or 392% year over year improvement in our non-GAAP operating income was also primarily attributable to the synergies and resulting benefits realized from the acquisition of Modus Media at the beginning of fiscal 2005.
The Company believes that its non-GAAP measure of operating income/(loss) ("non-GAAP operating income/(loss)") provides investors with a useful supplemental measure of the Company's operating performance by excluding the impact of non-cash charges and restructuring activities. Each of the excluded items was excluded because they may be considered to be of a non-operational or non-cash nature. Historically, CMGI has recorded significant impairment and restructuring charges. These charges, as well as charges related to depreciation and amortization of intangible assets and stock-based compensation, have been excluded for the purpose of enhancing the understanding by both management and investors of the underlying baseline operating results and trends of the business, which management uses to evaluate our financial performance for purposes of planning and forecasting future periods. Non-GAAP operating income/(loss) does not have any standardized definition and, therefore, is unlikely to be comparable to similar measures presented by other reporting companies. Non-GAAP operating income/(loss) should not be evaluated in isolation of, or as a substitute for the Company's financial results prepared in accordance with United States generally accepted accounting principles. The Company's usage of non-GAAP operating income/(loss), and the underlying methodology in excluding certain charges, is not necessarily an indication of the results of operations that may be expected in the future, or that the Company will not, in fact, incur such charges in future periods. A table reconciling CMGI's non-GAAP operating income/(loss) to its GAAP operating income/(loss) and its GAAP net income/(loss) is included in the statement of operations information in this release.
Fourth Quarter
CMGI reported net revenue of $251.2 million for the fourth quarter ended July 31, 2005. This compares to net revenue of $96.5 million for the same period of the prior year, an increase of $154.8 million, or 160%, year over year. This increase was primarily attributable to the Company's acquisition of Modus Media.
CMGI reported an operating loss of $3.7 million for the fourth quarter ended July 31, 2005, compared to an operating loss of $5.3 million for the same period last year, an improvement of $1.6 million, or 30%, year over year. Operating results for the fourth quarter were negatively impacted by significant costs associated with the Company's Sarbanes Oxley 404 compliance readiness actions, which totaled approximately $3.6 million during the quarter. The fiscal 2005 fourth quarter operating loss also included charges related to the amortization of intangible assets and stock-based compensation and depreciation totaling $5.3 million and net restructuring charges of $1.5 million. Included in the Company's fiscal 2004 fourth quarter operating loss were charges related to the amortization of stock-based compensation and depreciation totaling $1.5 million.
CMGI reported net income of $0.3 million, or nil diluted earnings per share for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2005. This compares to a net loss of $6.8 million, or ($0.02) diluted loss per share, for the same period last year. Net income in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2005 included a $4.5 million gain as a result of the sale of one of @Ventures portfolio companies, Molecular.
Excluding the effects of charges related to depreciation, amortization of intangible assets and stock-based compensation, and restructuring, CMGI reported non-GAAP operating income of $3.1 million for the fourth quarter ended July 31, 2005 compared to non-GAAP operating loss of $3.7 million for the same period last year. Similar to the improvements noted in the discussion above of our fourth quarter GAAP results, the $6.9 million, or 184% year over year improvement in our non-GAAP operating income in the fourth quarter was also primarily attributable to the synergies and resulting benefits realized from the acquisition of Modus Media at the beginning of fiscal 2005.
As of July 31, 2005, CMGI had consolidated cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities of $192.7 million, versus $272.2 million at July 31, 2004. The primary use of cash versus last year-end represents the Modus Media net cash acquisition costs and related expenses of approximately $66.2 million.

I think we may very well see this run to the level you have mentioned Scottish Trader.
This thing is trading up in the after hours.
Eye On Stocks For Tuesday, Oct. 4
CMGI (nasdaq: CMGI - news - people ) rose more than 7% in after-hours trading after the e-commerce support services firm reported fourth-quarter results. The company announced flat earnings on revenue of $251 million, compared with a year-ago loss of 2 cents per share on revenue of $96.5 million. CMGI attributed the jump in sales growth to the acquisition of Modus Media.
Hopefully this will be the catalyst to get this stock finally moving in the right direction. I thought it would move higher in AH only because this stock tends to spike. One to watch in the morning for sure.
Top of the Falling Wedge resistance is 1.98 for this week. If CMGI can break out, it could make a run at the top of the Symmetrical Triangle, which is at about 2.72 this week.

ModusLink Opens Two New Solution Centers to Meet Growing Demand for Services in Europe
Wednesday March 29, 7:30 am ET
Worldwide Footprint Reduces Cost, Time and Risk of Supply Chain Globalization for Clients
WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 29, 2006--ModusLink Corporation, a subsidiary of CMGI, Inc. (Nasdaq: CMGI - News), today announced that it has added two new solution centers to its European footprint to help companies achieve the full potential of their supply chain globalization strategies. The two new solution centers in France and the Netherlands can facilitate end-to-end supply chain management for companies in a number of vertical technology industries, helping them to reach new regional customers and suppliers, while reducing the cost, time to market and risk associated with global production and distribution.
Demand for ModusLink's supply chain services and solutions in Europe continues to grow with the recent addition of several new clients in the Communications, Computer Entertainment and Electronic Manufacturing Services industries. The increased demand also includes expansion of business with existing customers, such as Kodak, one of the world's most recognized brands in digital and traditional imaging, which is being serviced out of ModusLink's new Paris facility.
"By expanding our presence in key European markets, ModusLink provides companies with the resources, tools and proven processes they need to penetrate new markets," said Joseph C. Lawler, President and Chief Executive Officer of CMGI. "Geographic boundaries that once hampered trade are giving way under the pressure to achieve global operating excellence. ModusLink is committed to simplifying the complexities of supply chain globalization for its clients and our strategically located facilities around the world help companies get closer to regional customers, respond with agility to global market dynamics, and eliminate redundancy and waste."
ModusLink's Paris, France solution center provides approximately 25,000 sq. ft. (2500 square meters) of operating space to meet increased demand for services in the region. Kodak leverage's ModusLink's supply chain expertise, and strategically-located Paris facility, for materials planning, sourcing, and product packaging activities. The address of the new facility is 23 allee du 1er mai, 77183 Croissy Beaubourg, Marne LaVallee France.
The Putten solution center in the Netherlands offers approximately 100,000 sq. ft. (10.000 square meters) of operating space and was opened to support growing demand for services in the area. The Netherlands has become a popular manufacturing destination for many U.S. companies due to the country's strong transportation infrastructure, tax-friendly regime and open trade and investment policies. According to FirstGov.gov, the U.S. government's official knowledge portal, an estimated 60% of U.S. companies have chosen to locate their European distribution centers in the Netherlands. With the new Putten facility located only 24 to 48 hours from 95% of the destinations in the European Union, ModusLink is able to help companies expedite time to market, reduce transportation costs, improve operating efficiency and lower total supply chain costs. The address of the new facility is ModusLink BV, Ruitenbeek 9 3881 LW Putten, The Netherlands.
Both facilities are currently operational and will deliver a broad range of forward supply chain services, including design and consulting, demand and materials planning, sourcing and procurement, inventory management, assembly and packaging, and fulfillment to clients; in addition to reverse supply chain services, including returns management, product repair, asset management and disposition, and spares and parts management and fulfillment.

Revenue Grows at CMGI............ 8)
By TSC Staff
10/13/2006 1:54 PM EDT
Investors bid up shares of CMGI (CMGI - commentary - Cramer's Take) after the company said fourth-quarter revenue and operating earnings rose from a year earlier.
The stock was recently up 13 cents, or 12%, to $1.20 on volume of more than 18 million shares; average daily volume is 3.6 million shares.
The business management services provider said Friday that its loss widened to $2.55 million, or a penny a share, from $274,000 or about break-even EPS, a year earlier.
The decline in net income was primarily attributable to a $7.4 million loss from discontinued operations, related to its selling marketing distribution services business, CMGI said. Excluding that and other items, operating income more than doubled to $7.6 million from $3.1 million a year earlier.
Revenue rose 6% to $261.9 million.

CMGI Reports Financial Results for Second Quarter of Fiscal 2007
Monday February 26, 4:26 pm ET
Company Reports Strong Improvement in Operating Results and Net Income
WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CMGI, Inc. (Nasdaq: CMGI - News) today reported financial results for its second quarter of fiscal year 2007, ended January 31, 2007.
Financial Summary
Net revenue increased 1.9% from prior year to $324.8 million
Gross margins improved to 12.5% compared with 9.5% in the prior year period
Operating income improved to $11.3 million or 3.5% of revenue from an operating loss of $1.7 million in the prior year
Non-GAAP operating income more than doubled, to $19.5 million from $8.8 million in the second quarter of the prior year
Net income increased to $35.9 million compared to a net loss of $6.3 million in the same period last year
Cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities at January 31, 2007 increased to $275.0 million from $163.0 million at January 31, 2006
Second Quarter Consolidated Financial Results
CMGI reported net revenue of $324.8 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2007, compared to net revenue of $318.8 million for the same period one year ago, a $6.0 million or 1.9% increase.
Operating income was $11.3 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2007 compared to an operating loss of $1.7 million in the prior period, an improvement of $13.0 million year over year. The operating income improvement was primarily driven by an increase in gross margins from 9.5% to 12.5% year over year and lower restructuring costs. Contributing factors to the gross margin improvement included strong volumes in Asia from certain higher margin programs, improved work mix in the Americas and new business wins and productivity gains in Europe. Compared to the Company's third and fourth fiscal quarters, gross margin percentage is typically strongest in the second quarter due to seasonality-based demand for certain of the Company's clients' products. In addition, the Company recorded $2.9 million of lower restructuring costs as compared to the prior year.
During the quarter, CMGI also continued to invest in its strategic initiatives which are focused on penetrating new target vertical markets including Communications, Storage and Consumer Electronics, expanding service offerings, deploying a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) technology platform and implementing a shared services model, which includes consolidating IT and finance infrastructures. These investments totaled approximately $3.1 million during the quarter, of which approximately $2.1 million was recorded as an operating expense in the period, with the remainder capitalized on the balance sheet.
"We have been making meaningful progress across our business and are beginning to see improved results from our efforts," said Joseph C. Lawler, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of CMGI. "Our increase in revenue was achieved despite a $20.9 million decline in revenue related to a previously announced program change for a single client."
Excluding net charges related to depreciation, amortization of intangibles, stock-based compensation and restructuring, CMGI reported non-GAAP operating income of $19.5 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2007 versus non-GAAP operating income of $8.8 million for the same period in fiscal 2006, a $10.7 million or 122% improvement. The increase in non-GAAP operating income primarily reflects the operating income improvements noted above.
For the second quarter, CMGI reported net income of $35.9 million or $0.07 diluted earnings per share, compared to a net loss of $6.3 million or $0.02 diluted loss per share for the same period in the prior fiscal year. Net income primarily reflects the improved operating income performance as well as a gain of $28.7 million from the acquisition by EMC Corporation of Avamar Technologies, a company in which @Ventures held an investment. "Our @Ventures business continues to provide significant liquidity and new investment opportunities," said Lawler.
As of January 31, 2007, CMGI had working capital of approximately $319.4 million compared with $259.7 million at January 31, 2006. Included in working capital as of January 31, 2007 were cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities totaling $275.0 million compared to $163.0 million at January 31, 2006.
"Looking forward, in our supply chain business we believe that executing on our strategy of pursuing higher margin services in our target vertical markets, introducing new solutions and investing in operational improvements will help us achieve long term growth," added Lawler. "I expect that we will see some changes in our client base and work mix, with work from our target markets supplementing or replacing work from our more established markets of computing and software."
The Company was recently informed that a business unit of Hewlett Packard intends to migrate away from ModusLink Corporation a program which accounts for approximately $100.0 million of annual revenue. The operating income associated with this program is estimated at less than $3.0 million per year. The Company expects volumes associated with this program to decline late in the third quarter and does not expect the loss of this program to have a significant impact on results for this year.
"While this program represents a sizable amount of revenue, its working capital requirements are high and its gross margins and operating margins are well below those of our financial goals," said Lawler. "We believe exiting this program will contribute to the achievement of our long-term financial goals."
Outlook
The Company currently expects revenues of approximately $1.10 billion in fiscal 2007. With respect to gross margin percentage, while the Company does not expect second half gross margin levels to approximate the levels achieved in the second quarter, the Company does expect full year gross margin percentage to show improvement over the prior year.
Conference Call Information
CMGI will hold a conference call to discuss its fiscal 2007 second quarter results at 5:00 PM Eastern Time on February 26, 2007. Investors can listen to the conference call on the Internet at www.cmgi.com/investor. To listen to the live call, go to the Web site at least 15 minutes prior to the start time to download and install the necessary audio software.
Non-GAAP Information
The Company believes that its non-GAAP measure of operating income/(loss) ("non-GAAP operating income/(loss)") provides investors with a useful supplemental measure of the Company's operating performance by excluding the impact of non-cash charges and restructuring activities. Each of the excluded items was excluded because they may be considered to be of a non-operational or non-cash nature. Historically, CMGI has recorded significant impairment and restructuring charges. These charges, as well as charges related to depreciation, amortization of intangible assets and stock-based compensation, have been excluded for the purpose of enhancing the understanding by both management and investors of the underlying baseline operating results and trends of the business, which management uses to evaluate our financial performance for purposes of planning and forecasting future periods. Non-GAAP operating income/(loss) does not have any standardized definition and, therefore, is unlikely to be comparable to similar measures presented by other reporting companies. Non-GAAP operating income/(loss) should not be evaluated in isolation of, or as a substitute for, the Company's financial results prepared in accordance with United States generally accepted accounting principles.

This release contains forward-looking statements, which address a variety of subjects including, for example, expected revenues and gross margins to be achieved in fiscal 2007, the further execution of ModusLink's strategic business plan and impact of that plan, the expected impact of strategic initiatives and restructuring actions, our assessment of the expected impact of the loss of the program referenced in this release, our assessment of the supply chain management industry and the opportunities afforded ModusLink in that industry and the prospects for the Company's @Ventures business. Thursday March 8, 4:40 pm ET
WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--@Ventures, the venture capital business of CMGI, Inc. Earthanol plans to use proven, proprietary technologies to convert agricultural and industrial waste products into clean-burning biofuels. The company is currently developing projects based on dairy industry waste and cellulosic biomass materials. Earthanol's management team has extensive experience in the development and operation of energy projects, including eight biomass-based power projects in North America.
"In order to fully realize the promise of biofuels, it is critical that the industry move beyond corn-based ethanol", said Matt Horton, a Principal with @Ventures. "By using waste materials as a feedstock for biofuels production, Earthanol avoids many of the costs and limitations associated with corn-based ethanol." In conjunction with the investment in Earthanol, Peter Mills, a Managing Director of @Ventures, has joined Earthanol's board of directors.
Larry Folks, Chief Executive Officer of Earthanol, said, "We are very pleased to add Nth Power, @Ventures, and Calvert Funds to our investor team, which includes existing investor, Sail Venture Partners, and are delighted that our vision to convert available waste streams into green renewable fuels can now be realized. Earthanol is committed to the development and operation of waste-to-ethanol projects as the most cost-efficient and environmentally responsible way to dispose of waste and produce alternative fuels."

Hoorah Baby !
Has been upgraded to a buy from a hold. Net income went up a whopping 668% in the second quarter of fiscal 2007, translating into an 800% increase in earnings per share. Such stellar numbers have already pushed the stock price up; however, TheStreet.com Ratings feels there is still room to run. CMGI had been rated a hold since November 2005.

CMGI Shows The Signs Of Life...
Buy the dips....don't chase.
CMGI shares jumped for the second straight session Thursday, up 26 cents, or 13.54%, to $2.18 @ a new 52-week high, in heavy trading. That's a nice gain, but a far cry from the company's stratospheric levels during the Internet bubble. It traded above $153 in January 2000 but was below $1 over the summer of 2006.
In the company's second quarter, which ended Jan. 31, sales gained a modest 1.9%, to $324.7 million from $318.8 million a year earlier, but CMGI went from a loss of $6.3 million to a net profit of $35.8 million, or 7 cents a share. Of particular interest to investors, the company's gross margin rose significantly, to 12.5% from 9.5% in the previous year, indicating it is increasing the profits it makes on each dollar of sales.
CMGI attributed that improvement to "strong volumes in Asia from certain higher-margin programs, improved work mix in the Americas and new business wins and productivity gains in Europe."
For the current financial year, CMGI said it expected sales of $1.0 billion, which would be a little less than the $1.1 billion of last year. But it expects its gross margin to improve from last year's 9.9%.
The way CMGI stock has been running harkens investors back to the days before the dot.com bubble burst at the dawn of the new millennium.
CMGI stock, a hot ticket in the late 1990s into early 2000, got a mega boost this week from a healthy earnings report, hopeful guidance and a positive news story.
About time...
One of thee few dot.com still around, and becoming profitable.......
CMGI is not the only Internet dinosaur whose shares are perking up. Internet Capital Group (nasdaq: ICGE), whose stock traded above $4,000 on a split-adjusted basis at the height of the Internet craze and as low as $3 thereafter, is now trading at about $10.70. Safeguard Scientifics (nyse: SFE), an $80 stock in 2000 and an 80-cent stock in 2002, has crept up to the $3 range amid improved prospects for its incubating holdings.

Will CMGI be the perfect turnaround story of 2007?
Great financials.......Way undervalued vs peers.
in recent quarters CMGI shows promise with approximately 100M in annual profit consistently, NO debt and an interesting shift into the biofuels and up-coming needs sectors.
From Barrons 3-26-06
After a 66% jump this year in CMGI shares, is there any upside left? We think so. CMGI may be a cheap bet that there's value in the electronics supply chain. With $1 billion in sales over the past 12 months, $275 million of cash and $2 billion of net operating tax-loss carry-forwards, the company may even be an attractive take-out target for freight giants such as FedEx (FDX) or United Parcel Service (UPS).
"As [CMGI] improves its gross profit and operating profit, this is a business whose sales can rise by 20% or more a year," says Stimson.
What's more, CMGI still invests in young companies, which nowadays consist of alternative-energy start-ups. And proceeds from selling companies in its portfolio continue to be a big contributor to cash flow from quarter to quarter.

This company knows how to make money.......
Still Holding....... ;)
I'm keeping my CMGI for the long term!

I expect CMGI to go up substantially next week. The company will report 4Q and FY 2007 earnings on Tuesday and I believe the stock will go up because guidance going forward will be strong based on the recent contracts won. CMGI is profitable with 60c/share cash, 5c/share debt, and trading at 0.7 P/S and about 10 forward P/E.
Furthermore, CMGI posted a loss for 4Q 2006 and I expect them to post a profit on Tuesday for 4Q 2007. FY 2007 net income will be 4 times higher than for 2006.
teccnically, CMGI's chart look very bullish.
CMGI could breakout any minute now. Big buyers are lining up on the bid.

CMGI Shares Skyrockets After 1st-Quarter Profit Jump; Analyst Keeps 'Buy' Rating
NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of CMGI Inc. skyrocketed Tuesday morning after the supply-chain and inventory-management software provider posted a first-quarter profit that widely exceeded Wall Street's expectations.
The stock added $2.24, or 21.7 percent, to $12.57 in late-morning trading. ;)
On Monday, CMGI reported first-quarter earnings of 18 cents per share while analysts expected 10 cents per share, according to a poll by Thomson Financial. ;D
WR Hambrecht analyst Robert Stimson kept his "Buy" rating and $22.50 price target, more than double Monday's closing price of $10.33.
"We are encouraged by the company's progress, and we continue to believe that CMGI is a compelling turnaround story and a long-term investment play that will likely begin to bear fruit exiting 2007," Stimson said in a client note.
CMGI's 14.2 percent margin growth during the period beat Stimson's estimate of 12.3 percent growth, meaning "the company has gained traction in higher margin verticals and that the newer contracts have more than offset the lost revenue" from discontinued contracts, he said.
Stimson raised his 2008 sales forecast to $1.25 billion from $1.15 billion and his earnings forecast to 62 cents per share from 56 cents per share. CMGI maintained its guidance for 2008 on Monday, saying it still expects sales between $1.1 billion and $1.15 billion.

CMGI Plugs Into PTS
05-02-08
CMGI is adding eggs to its basket. The Internet-incubator-turned-supply-chain management provider acquired its second subsidiary this year, adding to its range of logistics products.
On Friday, CMGI (nasdaq: CMGI ) announced it would pay approximately $45.0 million for PTS Electronics, an independent service repair and reverse logistics provider. The company makes wireless and cellular phone products, as well as re-manufacturing HDTVs. CMGI sees the PTS acquisition as an extension of its existing supply-chain service business, ModusLink. PTS currently has 500 employees and generated $37.4 million in revenue in 2007.
"As more consumer-electronics products proliferate in the market and features continue to merge into a single device, there is an increasing need to both accelerate and improve the value recovery from the returns process. And fast, reliable, economical service is essential," said Joseph Lawler, chief executive of CMGI. "By acquiring PTS, we will be positioned to meet our clients complete reverse logistics needs. We view the aftermarket services space as a source of potential revenue and earnings growth in the future, and expect PTS to form the cornerstone of that service offering."
The Waltham, Mass.-based CMGI, currently valued at $716.8 million, said the deal will be cash-flow positive, but isn't expecting the acquisition to have any impact on earnings in fiscal 2008. It does expect positive returns in 2009.
In late February, CMGI acquired Open Channel Solutions, an online rights and subscription provider, in a deal valued at $24.5 million.
CMGI began its existence as an Internet incubator, helping to finance small-tech companies then trying to bring them to market. A notable success was the Alta Vista search engine, but CMGI, which featured several consumer-oriented companies in its portfolio, was battered in 2000 when the frenzy for all things Internet abruptly ceased. (See " IPO Window Slams Closed On CMGI's Fingers")
CMGI is still in the incubator business with its venture capital business @Ventures, which invests in technology companies, but is now focused on operations in supply-chain logistics. The latter line is bringing improved results. (See " CMGI Shows Signs Of Life")
Shares of CMGI were down 0.8%, or 11 cents, to $14.64, in early-afternoon trading.
