Got back home just in time to open this ... I'm not planning to sell any of the 3 Stocks on Fire Portfolio (http://www.3stocksonfire.org/3stocksonfire_3sof.php) holdings, which are CPNE.OB, RDCM and ETLT.OB, at least, not for now.

Hi David
Got a newsletter I like with P.TO (Railpower Technologies) recommended.
They're supposed to report a huge backlog of orders soon.
They make eco-friendlier locomotives.
I am exposed to this industry and know that most locomotives use engines that are 20 - 50 years old and are due for replacement due to fuel efficiency and emissions regulations. There are thousands of them out there.

Technically the stock had a nice advance phase in December 06, but then it gave back about 61.8% of that move. Elliot Wave theorists could call this correction wave 2, but 61.8% perhaps it is too much of a correction, it might mean the trend has changed, from bullish to bearish.
The chart is at a critical point now, PFSW should surpass the descending trendline, currently standing at $1.10, to be more bullish.
Fundamentally:
- Market cap is $48 M. A provider of outsourcing services including web-site development and hosting, order management, call center, product kitting and assembly, order fulfillment, warehousing, credit and collections, technology solutions and more.
- Balance sheet is ok, with $23 M in working capital
- Revenue trend is positive ... wow, the one analyst covering the stock is expecting $432 M in revenues for full fiscal 2006. The company had sales of $313 M in the nine months through September 2006, so, it's entirely possible. The sales multiple is about 0.11, which seems very low.
The more I study stocks the more I see that EPS talks, and all other numbers walk (except the current ratio, very important). And when it concerns to EPS , the company lost ($0.19) per share over the latest 3 reported quarters.
Let me see what was the catalyst for the bull trend in December ... oh oh oh, it seems we found another SYX !!! The catalyst was the wholly owned subsidiary of PFSW, www.ecost.com
I don't have to see much more, love this stock, trading at a fraction of revenues and in my view about to turn profitable. It reminds me of SYX, but growing from a much smaller base.
Thanks for the suggestion :)

OPBL.OB is stock #28 on our Stocks Covered List (http://www.3stocksonfire.org/trading/index.php?topic=8875.0)
It had an incredible run, but now it is a $314 M market cap company with just $10.9 M in sales over the last four quarters. It will report earnings today after the close, I guess it will tank after earnings, because expectations are too high, and revenues and profits are too little.
But good luck :)

NUAN for long term hold?
Thanks.
Hi dcrlin, thanks for the suggestion, but NUAN is already a $2 B plus market cap company, so not what we're looking for on this message board, as you can read on the FAQ section (http://www.3stocksonfire.org/trading/index.php?topic=8739.0).
Anyway, the stock is opening with a big gap up due to the earnings release yesterday after the close ... the company reported a loss of 1 cent per share on a GAAP basis (the one we can use for comparisons).
This is one of those stocks that probably is about to turn profitable, and when it does, investor's will probably be disappointed, because EPS will be below a dime each quarter, so the earnings multiple is too high.
I don't like it at this point for the long term, but ... perhaps I'm wrong. Good luck :)

ELON
Technically the trend on ELON is still bearish, despite today's very strong rally. I wonder if it will be able to breakout above the descending trendline you can see on the chart below, but I wouldn't bet on that, because usually trends persist.
Fundamentally:
- Market cap is $318 M. Develops, markets and supports hardware and software products and services that allow everyday devices, such as appliances, thermostats, air conditioners, electricity meters and lighting systems, to communicate with one another and across the Internet.
- Balance sheet is very, very strong, with a current ratio of 5.2 and $54 M in cash.
- Revenue trends are ... well, revenues are declining on a yearly basis since 2002, which seems odd given the sector the company is involved.
Results were out today, they lost $6.5 M, or 17 cents per share in the 4th quarter, but that was better than expected, so the stock is rallying. They say on the press release that they expect to be profitable in the 4th quarter of 2007. Revenues are declining because they're changing the business model.
Well, I guess you'll have opportunities to buy the stock lower than today, between now and the 4th quarter of 2007, because the fact is that revenues are shrinking and losses are growing, so I don't see people holding the stock with strong hands.

David, How about Vsty? Cathleen
Let's see, the stock can be oversold, but the trend is bearish as you can see on the chart below Cathleen. I like charts where the right part is higher than the left part, if you know what I mean.
Anyway, let's check the fundamentals:
- Market cap is $38 M. Varsity Group Inc. is an outsource solution provider to education institutions nationwide. Under the brands Varsity Books and Campus Outfitters, Varsity provides solutions that enable schools to focus on their core educational mission. Varsity Group's solutions include online textbook, school supply and full-service school uniform services.
- No liquidity problems shown by the balance sheet
- Revenues were growing nicely until 2005 and in 2006 ... well, this is weird, revenues had a big jump in Q3 2006 but the company lost $15 M over that quarter.
This requires more than usual investigation, but that's where the best opportunities lye.
The CEO resigned in November 21th, after the company reported disappointing 3rd quarter results. Ok, now I understand why the revenue differences, this company is the most seasonal I've ever seen, almost all of their yearly sales are made in Q3.
I think this could present a nice turnaround play Cathleen. I'm not a big fan of turnaround plays (because the turnaround may not happen, it's a risky investment, because it goes against the trend), although I admit they can sometimes give a huge return to investors.
I wish I had time to look at this in more detail, probably I'll do it tomorrow before the open. Anyway, not on fire today with very low volume changing hands, good luck :)

TKO getting some attention
Hi boatguy, good morning, yes, TKO is up 4% today with 1.2 million shares changing hands, that's nice. Today's high on my quotation system is $4, do you have the same number?
Anyway, there's strong resistance around $3.7 or so. Let me check the fundamentals:
- Market cap is $204 M. Develop products for use in the powerline communications (PLC) industry. PLC products use existing electrical wiring in commercial and residential buildings to carry high speed data communications signals, including the Internet.
- Balance sheet is, how should I say this, acceptable but small. This means the current ratio is 2.08, but total assets are just $16.3 M, and that seems too low for a $200 M plus company.
- As for revenues and profits, the picture is scary, over the last 4 quarters they sold just $4.96 M, and lost $27 M over the same period.
Today's advance is hype due to the following press release:
• Telkonet and GE Energy Develop Integrated Utility Substation Automation System (http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/070206/20070206005308.html?.v=1)
Business Wire (Tue 9:30am)
The news seems very positive, but I'm pretty sure it is already priced in. Fundamentals don't support the current valuation, I guess the stock will pullback and tank hard.
We'll see ... anyway, good luck if you own it :)

LTS trying to break to a 3 year high
Yes, LTS is pushing sharply higher today, 11.4% as I write (but not exactly breaking out, can be developing a double top pattern). The stock is # 9 on our Stocks Covered List (http://www.3stocksonfire.org/trading/index.php?topic=8875.0), but I couldn't understand it on the first attempt. Let's see if I'll be able to do it now :)
Technically January's high of $2.08 is the key point. The stock should be able to close a good 3% above it for this move to be considered a bullish breakout.
Fundamentally:
- Market cap is $314 M. It is engaged in retail and institutional securities brokerage, investment banking services and investment activities.
- Balance sheet is weird, different. I can't see what are current assets and liabilities. $8.14 M in cash.
- Losing money in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005, for an accumulated deficit of ($104.7 M).
- In 2006 the company is making just a bit of money, EPS of $0.04 for the past 4 quarters.
Ok, I guess I see more or less what's going on with this stock:
«On September 11, 2006, Ladenburg acquired substantially all of the securities brokerage accounts and registered representatives and employees of BroadWall Capital. On October 18, 2006, we acquired Telluride Holdings and its operating subsidiary, Capitalink.»
The share price increase has to do with these acquisitions. I'm not able to value them at this stage (I don't think they're public companies), but of course they cost money and shares. Perhaps the recent price rise has been done to create a market so previous owners of BroadWall Capital and Telluride Holdings can unload LTS shares with a nice premium:
«In connection with this acquisition, we issued to BroadWall Capital ten-year warrants to purchase 1,500,000 shares of our common stock at an exercise price of $0.94 per share. These warrants were subsequently distributed by BroadWall Capital to its members.»
«In exchange for all the capital stock of Telluride Holdings, we paid Messrs. Cassel, Salpeter and Steiner $1,000,000 in cash and issued to them (i) 4,000,000 shares of our common stock and (ii) ten-year warrants to purchase 2,900,000 shares of our common stock at an exercise price of $0.96 per share.»
I don't like the story, I'll avoid LTS, despite the chart.
Thanks for the suggestion :)
NGS and IIG, I mentioned them both yesterday (page 3) as they came up on my scan, but no comment from David... they are both up quite a bit today .. still worth looking at?

SBEI,moved from mid.60's to mid .90's in one day!Something is up here, low volume though.9 mill float
You're right, very low volume traded today, in dollar terms, just $131 K, so it can't be considered on fire, despite the short term bullish chart.
SBEI is such a small company that I find it almost incredible how it has been publicly traded at least since 1980 (that's how far my Metastock database goes) :o, as you can see on the all history chart below.
The stock is able to make huge moves, up and down, it has done that in the past. Moving up now. Let me check the financials of the company:
- Market cap is just $9.79 M. The Company develops and provides network communications and storage solutions for original equipment manufacturers ('OEM') in the embedded systems marketplace.
- Balance sheet is "small", with just $4.9 M in total assets. But there are no liquidity problems, with the current ratio standing at 2.32 (I like to see it above 2)
- Revenue and profit trends are awful, selling less and losing more and more each quarter. Lost $16.2 M in Q3 alone, that's almost double the market cap.
The catalyst for the recent advance phase was this news out on January the 22nd:
• SBE and Neonode Announce Execution of Merger Agreement (http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/070122/20070122005289.html?.v=1)
Business Wire (Mon, Jan 22)
Hmmm, this is interesting, basically SBEI is being bought by a Swedish company, for this last to be a US publicly traded company. SBEI will issue 57 million shares more for this reverse merger transaction, so the current $0.85 share price represents $0.85*(57,000,000+8,570,000) = $55.7 M.
The question is, how much is the Swedish company worth?
We know the following about it:
Neonode is a Swedish based developer and manufacturer of multimedia mobile handsets. With over five years of research and development Neonode is today a leader and trendsetter in buttonless touch screen mobile phones and gesture based user interfaces. Neonode mobile phones are based on patented technologies. With Neonode's open Microsoft based platform consumers can themselves upgrade and customize their handsets similar to a PC.
In close collaboration with leading electronic manufacturers Neonode strives to create a leading alternative brand within the premium mobile device market. Neonode was founded in 2001 and has its main office in Stockholm, Sweden. More information is available at www.neonode.com
It is a private company, so hard to value. Wow, their website is really innovative, brilliant idea I should say ... the story looks interesting, I'm going to annotate this here for further study, volume is very low though.
Thanks for the suggestion, and if anyone has time, please dig some more and post your findings. Thanks ;)

QuoteCrap, I was away when you posted this. Not good. Where do you look to see that dilution is hapening?
Great question. I was waiting for it. I actually wanted to buy RDCM for the Main (http://www.3stocksonfire.org/3stocksonfire.php), but stumbled on that dilution issue and walked away. Still trying to figure out why I didn't sell it right at the open ... complacency ::)
Well, now that I look again ... I'm sorry, I'm totally confused now. Not so much dilution. Ok, now I remember, my issue with RDCM is that it is an Israeli company that doesn't report earnings using the form 10, but the form 20 for foreign companies, and as I've been seeing repeatedly, the market warrants those stocks a much below average valuation.
If we multiply the 4th quarter EPS by 4, we arrive at $0.28 for a full year, so the forward earnings multiple is about 11. The problem is the market usually values companies that report using forms 20 with an earnings multiple between 6 and 8 ...
I'm sorry, I've been seeing so many stocks that I probably confused RDCM with another stock, the issue is the forms in which the company presents its results with the SEC, not dilution ???
I guess I need a rest ...
From TA and FA, RDCM is still look good, I will hold for a while.
DTPI whats your take david? funadmentals look good
Ok, But I still would like to know where you look to determine if a company is diluting the shares?
I couldn't resist buying PFSW for the 3 Stocks on Fire Portfolio (http://www.3stocksonfire.org/3stocksonfire_3sof.php). You can read my full analysis on this thread.
I hope to buy it to the Main Portfolio (http://www.3stocksonfire.org/3stocksonfire.php) too, after even deeper analysis. Too cheap and too much potential to ignore(http://eimages.ecost.com/en_ideamall/co_ecost/div_ecost/div_interface/shop/countdown/on_fire_54x40.gif)
David, I would also like your opinion of IGLD. Thanks. It does have a small float and the stock price has increased significantly since September.
Quote from: BadOscar on February 06, 2007, 01:49:44 PM
Ok, But I still would like to know where you look to determine if a company is diluting the shares?
Sure, there are two ways:
1) You look at the company's SEC filings, forms 10-K and 10-Q if they exist. You make a table with the number of shares outstanding. If the share count is rising, each share represents less of the company, hence there's dilution to existing shareholders.
2) An alternative way is to divide the net income by EPS numbers to get the # of shares outstanding on a yearly or quarterly basis. Again, make a graph or table with those # shares outstanding on an historical basis. If the share count is rising, there's dilution, if it is going down, it means the company has been buying back shares.
Market cap = # shares outstanding*share price
The changes in the number of shares outstanding explain why a stock can go down 50% or more and yet represent a bigger company. Some charts that you see of stocks that traded at $50, and now are at $5, many times the companies are worth more now, because the share count rose more than 10 fold. That is called heavy dilution.
One thing you wouldn't like to see is net income rising from one quarter to another, yet EPS declining. That means the share count rose more than the net income increase, that is, dilution.

ecost was a bad deal for PFSW, everyone knows it and the stock took toll on it. Now it is under control and the stock has no where to go but up IMO. the lastest drop is due to the resistance at $1.40. I don't see any problem for this stock to go back to $1.40 again quickly. after that, who know, might come back down again. but any dip should be a buying opp. Just my 2 cents.

They're trading at less than half of annual revenues, and 4th quarter EPS was $0.24. Multiply that by 4 and get $0.96 EPS for a full year. It means the earnings multiple, with the stock at $6.70, up 77%, is still just about 7.
I'm not willing to sell CPNE.OB, ETLT.OB or PFSW or I would run for VII !
Hi David,
XDSL.OB seems like it is running big every February. News today..
I would still like your opinion of IGLD. Could you please cover it tomorrow if you can't get to it today? Thank you!

Let's make it quickly:
The chart is awesome, extremely bullish !
Fundamentally:
- Market cap is $250 M. The Company provides Internet services through a nationwide network providing dial-up, broadband, web hosting, web security and integration services. It also offer related value-added Internet services, such as web faxing and virtual magazines etc.
- Balance sheet is acceptable
- The analyst covering the stock is expecting revenues of $260 M in 07 and EPS of $1.33. Forward earnings multiple is 10.5, looks attractive.
- Files form 20-F, Israeli company, that can be a problem ...
I don't know, the only negative I see is the absence of form 10, but usually that puts a big drag on valuation :(
Good luck :)
Thanks, David. I really appreciate this site.
TSEM looks good maybe for an earnings play tomorrow. All these Israeli stocks seem to be doing good with earnings and momo as of late.

Yep, perhaps it is a macro play. Maybe there's some peace deal being made behind the scenes, that would be good.
But not even that was enough to lift RDCM ???
Thanks for your hard work on all these stocks David!! Much appreciated
The next time someone spots something like VII, could you please post it at 10am, marked "urgent" ?? ;D ;D

You can get some information on Yahoo.com
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/ks?s=BIGN.PK
Thanks for the info b_ferari, Yahoo doesn't have this information for most PK stocks, but it does for BIGN.PK. Still, not enough to judge the stock using my method.
Thanks :)
Yeah RDCM didnt have the momo left :P, TSEM looks interesting though semiconductor in Israel. News as of recently looks good new deals etc.
3 stocks on fire portfolio rose 72% in just twelve sessions, maybe next week might hit 100% :D ;D... David, applause for the job well done. ;)
Ok, I covered some stocks, others unfortunately were left behind, but I'll be here tomorrow to continue this work, so please ask those stocks again if you're still interested.
The 3 Stocks on Fire Portfolio (http://www.3stocksonfire.org/3stocksonfire_3sof.php) actually closed up again, by 1.8%, due to positive closes on CPNE.OB and ETLT.OB. Also, PFSW rose 6.54% from my buying point. I'll study it more carefully tomorrow, I wish it is good enough for the Main Portfolio (http://www.3stocksonfire.org/3stocksonfire.php).
Thanks for your participation, see you tomorrow :)
