I guess I had some stocks flagged to notify me of any change. And tonight I was surprised when I saw and old familiar name. It amazed me that someone I had respected so much was commenting on a stock that just tonight I had flagged to watch closely.

Yes, I'm afraid I took off after awhile. I enjoyed the early days around here so very much. But alas I could not be a paid subscriber and did not wish to take advantage of David and his hard work. Just did not seem ethical to me at that time. But I still miss the cumlautery we once had around the old 3SoF homestead.

Thanks for the post
I'll surely watch CVM more closely now.

I've been watching Amazon AMZN slowly work its way up the lower trendline and thought I would post a chart and see what was thought about it

Technical Analysis / Re: w bottom
August 27, 2007, 09:18:43 AM
Per IBD:

Double bottoms typically last seven weeks to a year.

The correction in the base from the highest to lowest point can be as much as50%in a bear market. Normally, the correction is25%or 30%. In a double-bottom base, the second bottom of the W has to be as low or lower than the first bottom. Double bottoms sometimes have handles similar in depth and length as those found in cup-with-handle patterns. These handles usually last at least one week. They can correct as much as 20% in choppy markets.  A handle should form in the base's upper half, drift calmly downward and take shape in light volume.

The buy point in a double bottom is 10 cents above the middle peak of the W. If there's a handle, the buy point would be 10 cents above the handle's high.

The middle peak of the W should be lower than the high on the left side of the base, but above the base's midpoint. Strong double bottoms trade tightly, show accumulation and find support at key support lines such as the 10-week and 40-weekmovingaverages.

Stock Picking / Re: DRYS -- DryShips Inc.

DRYS just keeps on climbing. Had a great run last week. Put this together with these headlines, one might begin to understand why shipping is looking up so nicely :

Trading Systems / Hindenburg Omen
June 25, 2007, 10:38:39 AM
On Stockbee's webpage this morning ( http://stockbee.blogspot.com/2007/06/market-monitor_25.html ), I received a very interesting read on something I had never seen, called the Hindenburg Omen ( http://www.safehaven.com/article-3880.htm ).

In the past few months I've learned quite about from this investor and have come to trust his posts almost as much as David's. I thought this might interest some of you.

I quote from stockbee's page:

    * There is lot of chatter in the technical analyst community about Hindenburg Omen.

The Hindenburg Omen is a technical analysis signal that attempts to predict a forthcoming stock market crash. It is named after the Hindenburg disaster, the crash of the German zeppelin of the same name in May 1937. The Hindenburg Omen is the alignment of several technical factors that measure the underlying condition of the stock market - specifically the NYSE - such that the probability that a stock market crash occurs is higher than normal, and the probability of a severe decline is quite high. The rationale behind the indicator is that, under normal conditions, either a substantial number of stocks establish new annual highs or a large number set new lows - but not both. When both new highs and new lows are large, it indicates the stock market is undergoing a period of extreme divergence. Such divergence is not usually conducive to future rising prices. A healthy market requires some degree of internal uniformity, whether the direction of that uniformity is up or down.

    Criteria

The traditional definition of a Hindenburg Omen has five criteria:

        * That the daily number of NYSE new 52 Week Highs and the daily number of new 52 Week Lows must both be greater than 2.2 percent of total NYSE issues traded that day.
        * That the smaller of these numbers is greater than 79.
        * That the NYSE 10 Week moving average is rising.
        * That the McClellan Oscillator is negative on that same day.
        * That new 52 Week Highs cannot be more than twice the new 52 Week Lows (however it is fine for new 52 Week Lows to be more than double new 52 Week Highs). This condition is absolutely mandatory.

These measures are calculated each evening using Wall Street Journal figures for consistency. The occurrence of all five criteria on one day is often referred to as an unconfirmed Hindenburg Omen. A confirmed Hindenburg Omen occurs if a second (or more) Hindenburg Omen signals occur during a 36-day period from the first signal.

    Conclusions

The probability of a move greater than 5% to the downside after a confirmed Hindenburg Omen within the next 41 days after its occurrence is 77%, the probability of a panic sellout is 41% and the probability of a real big stock market crash is 25%. The occurrence of a confirmed Hindenburg Omen does not necessarily mean that the stock market will go down. On the other hand there has never been a significant stock market decline in history, that was not preceded by a confirmed Hindenburg Omen.

Previous 3SOF Picks / Re: IDSA - Ready to move...
May 29, 2007, 10:43:20 AM
IDSA is consolidating sideways at the present. The next move should be as holders prepare for the dividend payout to 15June holders. In from $15.99

Someone on the Yahoo Forums posted an interesting evaluation on IDSA I thought might be worthy of our consideration (http://tinyurl.com/2nqkfc) :

here is a DD by someone on SIF. a potential triple in a few months.

Here are the specific reasons SIF is a compelling investment at these price levels:

1) EARNINGS: $.57 EPS from continuing operations last quarter or about $2.3 PER SHARE ANNUALIZED.

2) RECORD BACKLOG: Backlog increased 10% last quarter to RECORD $81 MM.

3) HUGE DISCOUNT TO SECTOR: Based on $2.3 Forward EPS, SIF trades at 9 forward PE compared to 25 Sector average.
IF SIF TRADED AT SECTOR PE IT WOULD BE A $60 STOCK.
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/co?s=SIF

4) TINY FLOAT: 2.8 MM float 48% owned by institutions- "available" float is 1.4 MM shares.

5) $5 PER SHARE LIQUID ASSETS: After Trubine divison sale, SIF will have $27 MM net working capital or $5 PER SHARE with no significant debt. That means the market is valuing SIF non cash assets at $13, or about 6 X forward earnings, an INSANE VALUATION in view of the 25 sector average PE.

6) EXPOSURE: Many new investors will become aware of SIF with exposure on the new 52 week high lists. Also, expect SIF to debut in the IBD Top 100 list with a very high ranking shortly- The IBD list has a very large following.

In summary, SIF has all the ingredients for rapid price appreciation: A low float stock in a robust sector with large institutional ownership tarding at a huge discount to its peers.

Stock Picking / Re: ERS
May 25, 2007, 10:06:06 PM
Watching ERS once again after very good earnings a few days ago. Empire has been a neglected stock long enough. We may finally be seeing a turnaround. If so, big money will take notice as they re-evaluate the company. A retest of last years highs would make this old man happy.

FORT LEE, N.J., May 15, 2007 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Empire Resources, Inc. (ERS), a distributor of value added, semi-finished aluminum products, today announced a 40% increase in revenues from $99,569,000 in the first quarter of 2006 to $139,841,000 for the first quarter of 2007. The Company also reported a 6% increase in gross profit from $7,927,000 in the first quarter of 2006 to $8,418,000 in the first quarter of 2007. The Company announced net income of $2,411,000 for the first quarter of 2007, compared to net income of $2,420,000 for the first quarter of 2006. Earnings per share on a fully diluted basis remained constant at $0.24 per share.

Empire Resources, Inc. is a distributor of a wide range of semi-finished aluminum products to customers in the transportation, automotive, housing, appliance and packaging industries in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Europe. It maintains supply contracts with aluminum mills in various parts of the world.

Old friend I've got a little APA, COP & EOG (which is looking to of been a mistake perhaps). Almost got some potash but decided to go back into JSDA, CROX & JADE instead.

Retirement here in Oklahoma is good for the most part. Since the Father in laws passing a few months back we've decided we would like to move closer to the kids. So we bot a house out in the country close to Gentry, Arkansas. Then hired our son, who flips houses for a living, to come in and go through the place. This house is still on the market but sitting for the most part. We are still waiting on The Lord to look down and bless us with a buyer.

BTW! I lost the URL of that place where you bot your software awhile back. I've been looking at TCScan Plus as an addon to my Telechart, but would like to see what they might have to offer in the way of price. I'm at [email protected] should you want to contact me via email.

Nice to hear from you old friend

Talk about familiar names!! It is very good to hear you are still alive and kickin', and enjoying the blessings from on high being a family man.   I am so happy to hear of your good fortunes.  Saw your email in my box and decided it would be good to drop in (I still do that occasionally now days) and say hello to an old friend.

Welcome back!!

Is it time for a correction ??  Well it seems to be pulling back into the 50d LinReg channel preparing to kiss the channel goodbye as it continues it's journey up into a new Impulse Wave 3. Holders should be blessed once this brief correction plays out.
