Puda Coal, Inc. (PUDC.OB: 0.46 +27.78%) is a red hot company in an otherwise troubled coal industry. The Chinese coal producer achieved record revenue and net income, generated strong cash flow, and closed 2008 with a healthy balance sheet. However, the firm began to see its fourth quarter slow down as the economic downturn led to a decline in operating income and profit margins.

The Chinese coal industry has been struggling with higher supply and low demand, which has put downward pressure on prices for coking and cleaned coal. At the same time, coal miners are passing on their higher costs for producing raw coal, which has put a pressure on profit margins as not all of this price increase could be passed on downsteam.

Stock Picking / Re: Top Pick .... TIE

10k deadline is March 16th. I think it will confirm their guidance, and finally let this thing start moving up again. Demand is still extremely strong.

Stock Picking / Re: Top Pick .... TIE
March 09, 2006, 02:04:16 AM
I believe recent retrace was due to the interest rate/yield curve environment. Institutional holdings were forced to scale back their portfolios across the board (especially in materials sectors) because of the higher risk of decreased business spending if the trend continues. This most likely forced TIE onto the radars of shorts, who took one look at the trend and recent press, and decided to try and take it down (especially with a low float). Hard to do when many of the investors are sitting on xxx% gains...

The fact is, TIE remains unchanged fundamentally. Alll of the industry reports I have read remain very bullish on titanium prices through '06 and '07. Their earnings preview said they expected strong results, and I doubt any new costs will surface when they release the statements. Drawdowns like this are not uncommon if you check TIEs history (I have been a shareholder for awhile now).

Blue horseshoe says: "Buy TIMET"  ;)

Penny Stock Picking / Re: RSTG long 40+

Can you clue us in as to why you like this stock for the long term? Long term picks are often based on fundamentals (since technicals are for short term timing mainly). Where do you see the value? CFO, and shareholders CF is heavily negative, and overall there are no great signs of improvement (other than maybe NOL carryforwards for tax purposes :D). Unless you have inside information of a big pending development or sale, this stock doesn't look good fundamentally. If you think this is cyclical, then clearly there should be a cyclical trend in the charts, but I don't see one.

To speculate on future sales... I understand that they develop and license electric motor enhancements for electric autos (maybe slight gain in demand with energy crisis), military application (only saw one contract for R&D with Army... nothing big, DoD signs these with a lot of companies with no guaranteed sales afterwards), and industrial (which we can assume has similar yearly spending, which is nothing great to note compared to previous years). So, I don't see where there will be a huge jump here unless they announce a new big contract.

And finally if (even though it's not normal) you look at a chart for long-term guidance - all I see is a strong downtrend. The stock has lost half of its value in under a year. As Calven said, it's looking negative (although could have had a recent dead cat bounce from being oversold).

Claiming that it will rise to $40+ in a year is simply outrageous - please substanciate this with some facts. Maybe I'm missing something  ??? I can't speak for Calven or ScottishTrader, but when I see people like you giving out recommendations like these without any kind of substanciation, it leads me to believe you are nothing more than a spammer, and it angers me because some newbie trader might stumble across it and buy it - and lose money.

So get lost, or post some meaningful content - not spam/scam posts. "See chart" doesn't cut it.

Stock Picking / Re: GOOG - Sorry, too obviuos?

Fundamentally, it still has one problem: It only has one significant revenue stream. All of its peers are more diversified, but Google gets a VAST majority of it's earnings from one source - online advertising. I still like it long-term because they are an innovative company, they just need to come up with something aside from their current cash cow.

Stock Picking / CXN -- Speculative
July 23, 2005, 11:21:20 PM
I came across this chart today when screening. As you can see it has recently rested on a 200-day MA, Fibonacci retracement support, and trendline support at $0.90. If it moved down a little, you will see that it has more support at $0.75, with a Fibonacci retracement support, trendline support (not drawn but obvious), and the 50-day MA. Add to that the fact that OBV has been increasing (meaning more people are taking note of the stock), and it still has a positive moneyflow.

The reason this stood out to me is because (A) the supports make it a high-probability trade, and (B) stocks tend to double-top before heading down L/T (giving me an opportunity to get out for ~50% gain even if it was headed down L/T).

I see the buy price at $0.75 (conservative) or $0.90 (for more assured execution). Target would be around $1.49, with a stop below the second set of supports at $0.73. This gives you a 98% gain (conservative) or a 65% gain (other). Losses would be -2.6% (conservative) or -18.8% (other). This gives a risk/reward of 1:49 (conservative) or 1:3.6 (other), which isn't all that bad.

I don't know if I will buy this one or not (since I don't often speculate on low-priced stocks), but I would be interested to hear the opinions of others...

Looks like it has potential, but it has to get past this strong trendline/MA resistance first... I'll definitely have it on my watchlist for next week though - thanks!

Also, what do you guys think of HGSI? Same type of play as before, watch for volume on the breakout.
