Of all the stocks on the main, TBSI is my favorite.   They took possesion of another ship today since demand is growing  http://biz.yahoo.com/iw/080129/0354475.html

4th quarter and year end earnings will probably be released around the first week of March.  Last year it was March 8.

Happy Birthday David!  My birthday was yesterday.

As for SILC, it was a great trade! Thanks!

I think we ought to have at least one trade like this every week to help the portfolio catch up!

Enjoy your day!

It looks like earnings estimate for 2008 was raised to 5.02

Looks like all the major indexes could form a V-bottom if we continue higher tomorrow.  This could speed the recovery and provide for a nice rally that could last for several months.  It seems like on Wall Street problems happen overnight and problems get fixed overnight.  What a crazy world!

David, what's your take on the futures collaspe?  I'm a nervous wreck right now!!!!!  With the futures down over 400 points, could this be the day all hope is lost and all faith wiped away from the markets and we have a strong reversal back up.

If something doesn't happen tonight or early tomorrow morning in terms of Big Ben coming forward or the Govt. doing something, we will be in serious pain.

David, I realize you don't have the answers, but you have a way of seeing things that help calm us down.

I watched Cramer tonight...and his message sent a chill up my spine.  Obviously the credit markets have been in tank...and for good reason.  So in reality...even though the economy is slowing...the real problem is the financial guarantee insurance and possibility of complete credit melt-down.

David, I know you said that you weren't going to comment on the general market for now, but with this issue about the financial guarantee insurance meltdown, what's your opinion on this.  If this situation is not addressed, the markets can take a brutal beating from here.

Hello, I felt the urge to let out a big frustrating "SCREAM"

Thanks, I feel better!

Dividends are great for some people, especially long termers, but doesn't that take away from the stock price when they pay a dividend?

The Latin American Discovery Fund, Inc.      LDF         $0.4915          $0.5805          $4.043 (Per Share of Long-term Capital Gain (yearly)

You are correct that the stock price goes down by the amount of the dividend, but it quickly recovers and continues to go up to new highs.  Look at the 5 year chart for LDF, very nice uptrend and high dividends.  I mostly trade, but I also have a long-term fund and this stock has been very good.

David, you stated that with LPHI you wanted  to add some stability and predictability to the Main.  Have you looked at LDF.  Its a latin American fund that has a nice uptrend and pays over $7 annual dividends.

4th quarter earnings are about to take place, I believe DRYS reports in mid-February and TBSI reports in March.  You would think that large funds would start to buy now before the earnings are released.  I believe they will since they know the projected EPS and the fact that the shipping companies are soooooo cheap right now.  (Please, don't get any cheaper! ::))

On a side note, what really sucks is a POS stock like RIGL , a company without any revenues keeps going up and the good solid companies such as TBSI are being beat to death.

Anyways, I'm holding!

Keep up the good work David!
