Stock Picking / Re: My pick: GIGM
April 22, 2008, 12:26:01 PM
GIGM time again soon?  The fundamentals have kept up, earnings coming may 13.

The stock is cheap now and appears to be growing pretty quickly.  I think a move above the 50, 100, and 200 mas which are all bunched up is quite possible.  The stock price hasn't kept up with the improvement in the company's fundamentals.

Along the lines of NM, I am long TBSI and EXM.  I think these stocks are ready for a big run. Another one is DRYS.

I noticed this thread and was hoping you got short somehow.

Oh well, I have a feeling there are plenty left.

Previous 3SOF Picks / Re: Solar, but profitable: TSL
March 15, 2008, 01:18:07 PM
I think TSL is worth another look right now.  Killed earnings, seems like they are doing some work in house that is saving costs.

Nice margins.  The stock reacted to the earnings decently well and then has since fallen to before the ER point.  If solars aren't completely worthless as they have recently traded, then TSL will be a great investment.  The stock trades at about a 21 trailing PE after announcing $0.61 in the most recent quarter.

I was thinking the same thing se travis.

Also AAPL?  These stocks still have very impressive growth rates given PE ratios.

Wow this one has been kept pretty quiet...tiny volume.

Nice uptrend!

Stock Picking / Re: CSIQ-- Solar's forgotten Sun
February 13, 2008, 12:52:32 PM
I'm selling my CSIQ at $50+.

Hopefully, FSLR set the tone for solars this earnings season.  If CSIQ can announce the earnings analysts expect, or better yet beat them, the stock still has some serious catching up to do.

FSLR is up more in MKT cap today than CSIQ is worth, yet CSIQ revenues are only expected to be 20% less than FSLR's in 2008.  FSLR captures better margin but I'm still convinced CSIQ has very much catching up to do.  We'll see i suppose!

Stock Picking / Re: CF - CF Industries

Well Sully, I wish we both were still holding. Unless you sold within 10% of the high and are out higher than this...in which case you are a bastard! just kidding...

I bought some MOS and POT puts and got completely annihilated.  Didn't listen to the charts that screamed buy..... and they exploded to the upside and I got what I deserved.

I sincerely hope nobody noticed my last post a short 6 sessions ago and bought this stock.

But seriosuly, ALVR is starting to look half way good on a fundamental basis.  If hype ever picks back up on WiMAX, then ALVR is top notch in the field.  ALVR is not expensive using p/s but they need to figure a way to turn it into real profits...when it comes down to it, it's all about the bottom line.

I'll just keep an eye on it.  This is the type of stock people do not want to hold in a market like this....its all about show me what have you got, not what will you do for me...   Or at least thats the feeling I get.

Stock Picking / Re: FSLR - First Solar, Inc

Call is the option to buy a stock at or before a certain time.

A put is the option to sell a stock at or before a certain time.

So the right to sell FSLR at $160 could be worth a lot tomorrow if it is trading at or around $160.  Or it could be totally worthless.

I have just started trying this, and I am terrible at it.  I'm like 0/5, just throwing money away.  But this has taught me one thing..I want to be the guy selling the options, not the guy buying them.

422-

I have some FSLR puts to protect my CSIQ and SOLF positions.  I started buying them a couple days ago, so I am about even..maybe down a bit or up a bit, I'm not really sure really.

I really want FSLR to disappoint so it just gets annihilated and my puts explode.  I don't see how they can announce earnings good enough to please the street...
