Stock Picking / Re: AKAM - Pullback To Breakout
February 05, 2007, 04:54:43 PM
Melf Elf,
Thank you for your quick reply.  You've given me plenty to think about.  I may actually end up sitting out the earnings play.   If it goes much higher after earnings, I will buy some puts.  I think that NullZero has played AKAM before as well.  The stock can move a lot,  so it makes for a great daytrading stock.
Thanks again!

Stock Picking / AKAM
February 05, 2007, 02:34:34 PM
Any thoughts on AKAM?  Earnings after the close on Wed, Feb 07.  It's gone crazy today.
Just looking for an earnings play.
Thanks,
Brigitte

Hi Seb:
I was looking around on the web, and came across www.stockfetcher.com.  I am just using the free version right now, but might subscribe later.  I will look at the others that you mention.  What time frame do you use when looking for triangles?
Thanks!
Brigitte

Sebfr,
Excellent picks on ascending triangle breakout!
How do you pick you ascending triangle breakouts?  Do you use special software, or subscribe?  Also, what other indicators do you use to help you, eg money flow, macd, etc?

I am new to TA, and am trying to learn more.
Thank you!

Nullzero:
I had some puts which I sold this morning for a decent gain.  Might go lower on Friday into options expiration, but if the market continues it's positive trend,  I may buy calls for a run up into earnings.  Of course, it depends on what the Feds do next week, etc, etc.  I too, agree that we will have a bearish turn in the market, sometime between now and December. But who knows when.

Nullzero, others,
Any thoughts on how low this might go. Anyone short?

I'm bearish on AKAM short term, but think that it's great for the long term.  I'm holding some Oct puts.  I also think that it's a great stock to day trade!

Stock Picking / Re: XOM Short

Nice call Aussie! I hope there's more downside for you.  I shorted PBR instead.  Take a look at it.  I think that you may like it too.  I don't know much about TA, but there seems to be more room for PBR to move down more. Also ERF and OIH. (One of these days, I'll figure out how to attach charts!)

Stock Picking / Re: RIG (short) Transocean Inc.

Do you guys think that this has bottomed out yet?
The stock has been slammed and looks oversold.  I'm looking for a bounce back to the low 70's.
Thanks,
Brigitte

Stock Picking / Re: COGN (sell short) Cognos Inc.
July 28, 2006, 12:57:15 PM
Do you think that it's time to short COGN again?
I just received a rec to buy some Jan 35 puts.
It crossed it's 50 day MA yesterday. Did it also break a triple bottom?  The stock was down partially on SEC review of COGN periodic reports, which it has now concluded, so it seems to be trading up a little again. But, quarter after quarter earnings growth has been slowing every quarter for 2 years, except Feb 05.
Any input appreciated.
Thanks,
Brigitte

Stock Picking / Re: HCBK - Hudson City Bancorp
February 23, 2006, 02:52:38 AM
Hey Calvern:
A newsletter that I subscribe to just came out with a recommendation today for HCBK.
A buy above $12.54, with a $14 1st target, a $17 second target, and an $11.75 stop loss.
You'll probably see some movement in the stock on Thursday.  As you said, time to load up.

Hi Calvern,
I agree with you.  There is a very good chart at this link.  The writer also thinks that oil has bottomed.  Sorry, I can't figure out how to post the chart here.

I bought a few options back at the end of Nov in $XNG and $OSX.  First time I ever did that, and never realised that it was so volatile, but doing okay on them so far.  I've been hearing that the options on OIH (an EFT) are more liquid.  Do you trade any options on $XNG, $OSX or OIH, or how do you trade them?
Thanks,
Brigitte

Stock Picking / Re: KOMG - innocent until proven guilty
November 29, 2005, 11:50:57 AM
KOMG on the move today.  I guesss it's on a few newsletters buy list.  The one I get recommended it as a buy above 33.75 with 39 as 1st target and 47 as 2nd target.  Listed it as high risk though!  Bought some options on it today.

Previous 3SOF Picks / Re: Chinese are all around: AOB
November 23, 2005, 03:28:55 PM
Yup, I agree.  Stupid idiots.  It triggered my stop, so i'm out at $4.90.  I still made some profit, but it hurt to see $4000 disappear in a few minutes.

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--American Oriental Bioengineering Inc. (AOB) priced a 12.5 million-share private placement at $4.80 a share, well below the company's price before its stock was halted Wednesday afternoon.
The company's shares are halted and last listed a price of $6.14.
Resumed trading shortly, and triggered my stop.
