Hi Eggman,

Very high trading volatility can skew the correlation between the ETF and the underlying item it is tracking. Now I don't know about your specific situation with DXO and oil, but that can explain sometimes when an ETF does not move in the correlated (or inverse) direction / amount you would expect.
Another thing to look at is what exactly is DXO value based on. It uses the DB liquid commodity index and light sweet crude. So when you saw oil up or down whatever it was, were you looking at WTIC light sweet or maybe something else like CBOE oil or another oil tracking index. Just a thought, don't know if it helps.

I was looking at WTIC

Hi eggman,

I think this is because DXO closes at 4PM, while Light Crude Futures keep trading. The tracking stays correct, but due to the different trading times it may look wrong.

Shouldn't the correlation be the same if they are both open for trading at the same time. Oil was down 1.2% DXO was down 12%

Ramsburg,

I am bewildered. I bought DXO yesterday thinking oil prices will rebound. Right Now Oil is up 1.83% and DXO is down -(2.53%). Can you explain why there is such a big difference? It seems to be following market as opposed to the oil prices.

Thanks,

Eric

Now its doing the opposite oil is up 1.23% and DXO is up 7.00%. I have no clue what is going on? If anyone has any suggestions for why there is such a huge difference, I would greatly appreciate it.

OPEC is meeting on Friday. They are expected to discuss a cut in the number of barrels per day.
The only question is how much will they cut?

I actually just bought some today at an average price of $5.24. I think the $65 range for oil will be a bottom, I expect another OPEC cutback in the near future.

why we haven`t entered a position?

Good Question,

Why have we not entered any position in anything? Have we been abandoned? There has been lots of opportunity with high volatility, but messages from our leaders.

Previous 3SOF Picks / Re: DXD - Short the DOW30

Hi Aussie,

I have noticed that there is a big disconnect among DXD and other "Ultra Proshares" ETFs that attempte to make 2X the market move. For instance, I noticed that DXD is currently trading now at down .51%, when the Dow Jones itself is trading down approximately .09%, I don't understand how that can be shoildn't the DXD be trading up about .18%> Please explain, because it doesn't look like these Ultra ETFs are good buys at all. It is similar difference in the QID as well. The movement doesn't even equal the same percentage move as the index it is tracking let alone 2X the index move.

Thanks

I am a little concerned about Charles Poole's retirement, the timing seems odd. He was a driving force behind GSB.  I am very interested in David's opinion of the situation.

GIGM should enter the IBD 100 list this week.

The IBD (Investors Buisines Daily) Top 100 is a list of their top 100 stocks based on Ratings for Earnings and Relative Strength to be on list you must have an earnings rating of over 80 and a relative strength over 80 and a stock price over 16. Before this week earnings announcement their earnings ratings was 76, but now it is at 99. The list get updated once per week in Saturday's newspaper. Although they post it online Friday Night for subscribers(which I am not), but I will buy tomorrows paper. I think GIGM will not only be in top 100 but will make it easily into the top 50 maybe top 30.

Being in the IBD Top 100 will immediately enhance GIGM profile, they are a lot people who only buy the IBD 100 and it is very influential with a lot of active investors. Stock have been known to become mutiple baggers upon entry into the IBD Top 100 I expected a nice pop in the stock price on Monday on heavy volume.

Once I find out the exact ranking I will post it here.

GSB finally issued a press release regarding their earnings. and lowered their revenue forecast for 2007 from 20M to 17-18M, blaming the shortfall on delayed orders.

Hi Berloga,

I think I might use my GSB money to add to my CIMT position instead of rebuying GSB.
