Stock Talking Board / Re: The market is OPEN

CTEL after consolidation is taking off again

My pick this time is     PRZ
PainCare Holdings, Inc.,
Through its subsidiaries, provides healthcare services for the treatment of pain through physician practices and surgery centers in North America. The company operates 21 pain-focused physician practices and 9 outpatient surgery centers through its physicians trained in interventional pain management, orthopedics or physiatry using medical technologies, clinical practices, and equipment. PainCare also provides intraoperative monitoring and interpretation services to hospitals and surgeons. In addition, it offers medical real estate and development services. PainCare, formerly Hi-Profile Corporation, was founded in 1984 and is headquartered in Orlando, Florida.

This is one I have been watching and trying to buy on a pull back...I stepped in at 1.75 last week of June and was happy to see it break and hold the ascending triangle. Also holding at the 1.70 support was important. It was moving a few days prior to earnings release on June 21 and jumped with the announced numbers

-- Pain Care Holdings Inc. 06/21/2006. The Orlando, Fla. medical services provider reported earnings of $11.9 million, or 17 cents a share. In the same quarter last year it posted a loss of $27.8 million, or 63 cents a share. Excluding items, the company said its earnings were 5 cents a share vs. 4 cents a share last year. The company posted revenues of $23.3 million, up 64% from $14.2 last year.

The price rose on this news also on July 6

I see clear skies til the 2.90 gap then there will be a stall, I hope at that point I will have a chance to get out at the open. Only 30-35 % but the way I have performed in previous contests....I will take it, and of course my personal portfolio will thank me. I neeed alittle positive after the last couple of months.
Good Luck All
Cheers ;D

I wish I had it all in a mattress this past week OUCH :o. I watched TGC when it bounced off a buck and got in again at 1.19.. bought more when it broke 1.5 and sold it all when it came back at 1.52. Like you I had lows 2's as a sell point. After the blood letting is over it is looking like a play again.
It seems like a long time a go but remember this....

• Tengasco Announces Record First Quarter 2006 Financial Results 8)
I knew (well had a idea, not a matter of if but when) this correction was coming but didn't see it til I got run over by it.  :'( Funny how you look so hard and miss the obvious. Start watching the VIX and get in when everybody is running scared. It picks the bottom fairly well
I have a long Canadian weekend of camping with my kids starting this afternoon. Fire side, roasting marshmellows and telling scary stories. No...not about the stock market!!! Back in the saddle next Tuesday hopefully facing the right direction.  ;D

A question about stops....I know if you can't watch all day they are good, protects you from major catastrophes and unseen press releases. But some stocks seem to get pushed down, (DEIX for example) the stops get taken and and then reverses (MM's manipulation..fact or fiction????). Its a sad thing to come home and see your stock sold and then look at the chart and see that you got caught in a 1-5 min push/tumble and that it is now above your sell and rising. I hate being a sitting duck...is there any other way of protecting ones self????? I am sure I all ready know the answer to this. But I would like to hear your thoughts and ideas on this.

QuoteIt doesn't seem to work with OTC stocks. On Ameritrade, I get the message "You cannot set a trigger order based on an OTC/BB alert: [WDPT]"
Maestro
I use Interactive Brokers http://www.interactivebrokers.com and have had no problems with execution and putting in stop losses on any stock I have traded. I have never traded pinks..so don't know about those. The trading platform is not the greatest but i also use Medved Quote Tracker http://www.quotetracker.com/ (free with the ads or no ads for a small monthly fee). I link these two together and I have been very satisfied. Now if I could get the trading thing down pat (SOF definitely helping in that dept) life will be grand. You can't beat IAB fees for trading. Have a look I don't know if this will work for you.

My pick is TGC

Tengasco, Inc. engages in the exploration, production, and transportation of oil and natural gas in Tennessee and Kansas. It also leases producing and nonproducing properties for exploration and development.
Tengasco Announced Record Fourth Quarter 2005 and Record Year-End 2005 Results on Mon, Mar 20 since then has been on a march up the hill. With the price of oil hitting record levels (again) and natural gas coming off it lows in anticipation of a hot summer. The climb should continue. At the moment the price is consolidating again with volume support and I am suspecting a continuation of the rise in share price.
Also TGC seems to be forming a pendant, that being said pendants usually break in the direction of the trend in this case up. TGC also formed pendants at 0.72, 0.85 marks and now again at 1.32
A close below the 13 EMA at 1.21, or further, below trendline support at 1.18 would indicate a time to exit. I would also watch the oil and natural gas charts, for indications of the future price of TGC.

My pick is LPTH

LightPath Techonologies Inc. manufactures proprietary collimator assemblies, GRADIUM glass products and other optical telecommunications products at its headquarters in Albuquerque. The Company's subsidiaries, Horizon Photonics and Geltech, manufacture isolator products utilizing proprietary automation technology in Walnut, California, and precision molded aspheric optics used in the active telecom components market in Orlando, Florida.

This is based purely on the chart. After consolidated for the past few weeks, and boucing off the 50 EMA, both volume and price picked up on Friday.

Previous 3SOF Picks / Re: TRAD for the long term
February 03, 2006, 10:36:50 AM
This is from a free news letter that is delivered to my email door. They say that they receive no compensation for any companies that they reccomend.
As we nervously watch a stock drift downwards it is always good to read a report that says what you believe and hope. Long term up after a small retracement. Personally I got 1/2 in at 16.90 will commit the rest when I see good news and a turn around in the short term trend.

TradeStation (TRAD)
=============================
Why The Strength?

While bull markets benefit all stocks, they're particularly kind to companies that benefit directly from that bull market – brokers and investment houses. TradeStation is an up-and-coming Internet brokerage firm that tailors itself to professional and active investors, with state-of-the-art order execution and data availability, as well as the ability to create and backtest numerous trading strategies for stocks and futures. Business here has always been leveraged to the market's performance – when things are good, the number of trades (and hence,
revenue) booms, and thanks to its all-Internet operations, those higher revenues fall right to the bottom line. Right now, we see revenue growth accelerating, and from previously announced metrics, fourth-quarter growth should come in around 40%. A big market downturn would hurt, of course, but if this bull market persists, TradeStation should do very well.

Technical Analysis

From 1 at the end of the bear market, TRAD spurted ahead to 13 in 2003, as business recovered along with the stock market that year. But then, despite a grudgingly-advancing market in 2004 and much of 2005, this stock corrected and consolidated, building a huge, long base. The breakout didn't come until the end of October, when TRAD bolted to 12, and after testing that level numerous times over the next few weeks, the stock and RP line have shot ahead to new highs on huge volume. Earnings are due out February 14, and that's sure to have an impact on the stock's near-term action. Overall, however, we expect this uptrend to continue. You could buy a little up here, but a quick shakeout toward 15 would offer a great entry level.

Suggested Buy Range: 15-16 1/2

CHAR shut down of the rig could be just a weather related shut down. This news I found while digging for more news on CHAR. Maybe the drillers just gave up. I have worked in -25 degree weather I cannot imagine -45. :o
Wait and see, aleast it is holding on to $5

Big Sky Energy Announces the Temporary Suspension of its Field Operations Due to Severe Cold in the North-West Caspian Region, Kazakhstan
1/25/2006

CALGARY, ALBERTA, Jan 25, 2006 (CCNMatthews via COMTEX) --
Big Sky Energy Corporation (OTCBB:BSKO) (the "Company") announced today that due to severe cold weather, with temperatures in excess of -45 degrees C and winds up to 70 kph, it has temporarily suspended its seismic, well work-over, and drilling operations in its Atyrau, Karatal, and Morskoe blocks. In addition, the Company has temporarily stopped oil production at its Morskoe oil battery until this cold weather abates.

"According to Atyrau Hydrological Centre, this is the coldest weather on record for this region of the Caspian since 1972, and most area schools, universities and some government offices have closed down," stated Mr. Al Sehsuvaroglu, the Company's President and CEO. "While operations in the field are suspended, we are proceeding with our plans to mobilize rigs to continue our drilling activities, along with ramping up production once the weather situation improves."

I thought that also, my buy at 5.76 was a good one. I had gut feeling something was up with the trading the last few days, it reminded me of HEPH,(10 to 11 and back to 10 in a day and then broke and now sits at around 5). But HEPH I got out of, this one I just bought 1/4 more of my original amount at 4.90. :o When they get a another rig and pick up production again the price should recover....but always ready to bail. I don't know if you can apply any technicals to this but I will put in a mental stop loss of 4.4-4.2 just below the last bottom in Nov???

Hell of a drop. This news was out at 10:42am Wait it out and see how bad the damage is >:(

WHITE PLAINS, NY, Jan. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Chaparral Resources, Inc. (OTCBB: CHAR - News; the "Company") today announced that the Board of Directors of the Company has elected Boris S. Zilbermints, a current Director of the Company, as Chief Executive Officer of the Company to replace Simon Gill who resigned following the merger of the Company's former majority shareholder, Nelson Resources Limited ("Nelson"), with and into Caspian Investments Resources Ltd. ("Caspian"), a wholly-owned subsidiary of LUKOIL Overseas Holding Ltd. ("Lukoil"). Mr. Zilbermints is Lukoil's Regional Director for Kazakhstan.

The Company also announced today that its operating subsidiary in Kazakhstan, JSC Karakudukmunay ("KKM"), has temporarily suspended the drilling of new wells in the Karakuduk Field. This temporary suspension is the result of the unexpected decision by Oil and Gas Drilling and Exploration of Krakow ("OGEC") not to renew its current drilling contract with KKM which had expired on December 31, 2005. OGEC is now in the process of finishing demobilizing the rig from the Karakuduk Field. The Company is using its best efforts to secure another rig to replace the OGEC rig as quickly as possible and plans to resume its drilling program as soon as a new rig can be secured. However, it is uncertain at this time when the Company will be able to resume its 2006 drilling program. The drilling campaign delay could potentially lead to lower than anticipated 2006 production levels. In the meantime, the Company will continue with its current workover operations and other field development and production activities.

Mr. Zilbermints, the Company's CEO, stated that "The temporary suspension of drilling activities will permit KKM to conduct a detailed analysis of the geological data from its recently drilled wells and will also enable KKM's ongoing facilities development program to keep pace with current and future productive capacity."

TXCC
TranSwitch Corporation designs, develops, markets and supports highly integrated digital and mixed-signal semiconductor solutions for the telecommunications and data communications markets. The company's mixed-signal and digital design capability, in conjunction with its telecommunications systems expertise, enables the company to determine and implement optimal combinations of design elements for desired analog and digital functionality.

I am jumping on the same horse again. Similar to the last time I picked it, it has rising bottoms, higher lows with volume support. This indicates that the optimism is still there. It has again broken through a small rising wedge and with the pull back on Friday it should be a better buy point than Dec 12 was. Majour resistance at $2.01. The earnings and conference call comes on Jan 25th. Hopfully it is all green lights and it goes throught that resistance and on to last Junes highs of $2.50. Or dare I dream higher?????

In real life I would never buy 2 days before earnings, learnt that leason long ago. But in this contest you have to go for the fences. Too many good chartwatchers out there.

Good Luck

My pick is TXCC

I was slow getting my pick in and some of the better ideas I had last week have been scooped. This pick may not be the strongest but it is late here and the end of a hectic but fun weekend....so this will have to be it.

TXCC is breaking its downward trend line with good volume support out of some low volatility trading. Rising bottoms over the past six weeks indicate that optimism is building. Support at $1.45.

My pick is SIRI

Sirius Satellite Radio Inc provides satellite radio services to approximately 1.2 million subscribers. The company provides commercial-free music channels comprising pop, rock, country, hip hop, R&B, dance, jazz, classical, latin, sports, news, talk, entertainment, traffic, and weather programs.

I believe that technically and fundamentally this company is pointing much higher. The last four trading days have been parabolic and I expect a pull back, to the 50 MA. Hopfully a pull back happens before Monday not after.

In order to continue its growth and expansion it is to broadcast and sell the SIRIUS service in Canada. Also Sirius is offering two compact inexpensive and user-friendly units for holiday shoppers. They are the easiest and least expensive way for consumers to access SIRIUS content in their car.
They have extended their exclusive relationship with DaimlerChrysler through to September 1, 2012. The agreement includes all Chrysler Group and Mercedes-Benz vehicles as well as Freightliner Trucks. For model year 2006 over 750,000 subscribers are expected to be generated from the Chrysler Group alone. SIRIUS radios are also currently offered in vehicles produced by Audi, BMW, Ford, Infiniti, Lincoln-Mercury, Lexus, Mazda, Mini, Nissan, Porsche, Scion, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo.
As of September 30, 2005, SIRIUS had 2,173,920 subscribers. The third quarter subscriber figure reflects net additions of 359,294 subscribers, a 97% increase over the year-ago figure of 181,948 net subscriber additions.
If the company has the fourth quarter which they expect you could see this company taking off very soon. Both long term and short term, I think that Sirius is very undervalued. If the contest went to January I would feel more confident because I think it has some retracement to do.

Stock Picking / Re: I'm very bullish on GOLD #3: GSS
September 27, 2005, 12:47:41 PM
Trading has been halted pending this news: Should be good in the mid to longer term :)

DENVER and VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 27, 2005--Golden Star Resources Ltd. (TSX: GSC - News; AMEX: GSS - News; "Golden Star") and St. Jude Resources Ltd. (TSX.V: SJD) ("St. Jude") are pleased to announce that they have signed a pre-merger agreement whereby Golden Star will acquire all of the outstanding shares of St. Jude (the "Transaction") on the basis of 0.72 of a Golden Star common share for every St. Jude common share. The Boards of Directors of both companies have unanimously approved the Transaction, completion of which is conditional on the execution of a definitive agreement, approval of St. Jude shareholders, requisite regulatory and court approvals as well as satisfaction of other customary conditions. The pre-merger agreement provides Golden Star with customary deal protection mechanisms.

The terms of the Transaction imply a purchase price of CDN$3.10 per St. Jude share (based on the closing price of Golden Star on the TSX on September 26, 2005) representing a premium of 38% to the 20-day average closing price of St. Jude common shares on the TSX Venture Exchange. Upon completion of the Transaction, St. Jude shareholders would own approximately 19% of Golden Star on a fully diluted basis. The transaction would be highly accretive to Golden Star's net asset value per share and is expected to be accretive to cash flow per share from 2007.

St. Jude's principal assets are the Hwini-Butre and Benso projects at the southeastern end of the prolific Ashanti gold belt region in Ghana. Together, Hwini-Butre and Benso have total near surface attributable measured and indicated resources of approximately 15.1 million tonnes at an average grade of 2.71 grams per tonne for contained gold of about 1.3 million ounces.(1)

In addition, St. Jude has several other highly prospective advanced exploration projects in Ghana, Burkina Faso and Niger.

Peter Bradford, President and CEO of Golden Star, said: "The acquisition of St. Jude delivers properties in Ghana with high-grade non-refractory gold resources that are within haulage distance to our Wassa gold mine. In assessing development scenarios for these properties, we will consider both stand-alone development options and the opportunity to mine and haul this high-grade material to Wassa, extending the mine life and increasing production at lower cash costs with minimal additional capital investment."

Mr. Bradford continued, "St Jude's properties outside of Ghana also offer Golden Star the opportunity to broaden and diversify its activities in the region, particularly into Burkina Faso where we see a number of exciting opportunities."

Michael A. Terrell, President and CEO of St. Jude, stated: "This transaction delivers an immediate and attractive premium for our shareholders and allows them to participate in the ongoing development and upside of not only St. Jude's quality assets but also Golden Star's existing projects."

The Transaction is expected to be implemented through a court-sanctioned plan of arrangement pursuant to the Canada Business Corporations Act and to close by mid-December. Upon closing of the Transaction, Mr. Terrell will join the Board of Directors of Golden Star.

BMO Nesbitt Burns is acting as financial advisor to Golden Star. Salman Partners and Haywood Securities are acting as joint financial advisors to St. Jude and have provided advice that the consideration offered under the Transaction is fair from a financial point of view to the shareholders of St. Jude.

About Golden Star

Golden Star holds a 90% equity interest in the Bogoso/Prestea and Wassa open-pit gold mines in Ghana. In addition, the Company has an 81% interest in the currently inactive Prestea Underground mine in Ghana, as well as gold exploration interests elsewhere in West Africa and in the Guiana Shield of South America. Before the benefit of this transaction, production is expected to increase to over 500,000 ounces in 2007, compared to expected production of approximately 220,000 ounces in 2005. Golden Star has approximately 143 million common shares outstanding.
