Hi, Travis, it's been a while since I've visited 3sof. Hope you and the rest are getting disgustingly rich.  ;D

There was a piece on GTE's strat on CNBC yesterday afternoon. I believe the show was "Street Signs". They showed the 1/5 scale test blimp in the hanger, and Jones touted the benefits of a strat over tower technology. There was no mention of GTE's problems.

Ideas, anyone? I don't want to get stuck with a lousy broker on some introductory deal, I just want few if any restrictions, good CS, and quick, honest trades.

Stock Market Talking / It's time to select a broker...
December 21, 2005, 11:50:56 AM
Well, I've read, studied, and stressed over this subject of trading for almost a year now, and I think the only thing holding me back now is being chickenshit. The two stocks I'm holding from an old employee stock purchase plan have run up about 30% since September, and I think it's time to make the jump. I believe I've asked this before, but I'd like any input I can can get on selecting the best online broker that suits my needs. From what I've seen, I'm leaning toward Scottrade. As I've read all the posts here these past months, I've noticed that they all have their own quirks and peculularities., such as the abilitiy to trade pink and OTC stocks, plus the surcharges for doing so, inactivity fees, and charges for the "extras". I'm also interested in their reliability and customer service. One more question. Are Level II quotes manditory for success at this? Thanks in advance for your time, folks, and season's greetings to all.

Up over 30% today. Any thoughts from the more talented chartists around here. LOL, more talented would mean ANYONE but me. I'm getting there though.  :D  I want to get into this stock, but am having reservations about getting in too late. I'd like to know if anyone can see a pullback coming.

Thanks and good luck to all.

Damn, G, has anyone ever told you that you look JUST LIKE our president?

The resemblance is UNCANNY...      ::)

Any more thoughts from anyone on GZFX? They are online with Circuit City now. Commercials should start hitting the airwaves pretty soon.    8)

I have a question. What if a message is posted, or a thread started about a stock that is being covered on a "premium board"? Are you going to remove it or move it to the paid board?

I'm so sad. I'm sorry, but I am beginning to feel held up for more money than I'll be able to afford to stay with with this site that I have come to love so much. This site is just chock full of advertising, so I can't understand why $50 a month is required to maintain it. I suspect I'll get blasted for my opinions, but I certainly don't make them out of malice. I can't tell you how many times I've recommended this site to others on the various message boards I visit. I sincerely believe that a $9.95 a month subscription fee would be more than enough to keep this site up AND provide you with a nice income. This just breaks my heart...  :'(

More "news". These guys are pretty good at the art of self-promotion. Doesn't look like investors got too excited over it today, though...

Skyrocketing Price of Steel Helps Position Plasticon for Major Growth with Recycled Plastic Rebar Supports Product Line
Wednesday July 27, 11:01 am ET
Construction Companies Look for Higher Quality, More Cost-Competitive Alternatives with Plastic Rebar Supports Instead of Steel Rebar Supports

LEXINGTON, Ky., July 27, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Plasticon International Inc. (Other OTC:PLNI.PK - News) announced today that the soaring price of steel will have a major impact on Plasticon International.
The rising trend in the price of steel over the last year and a half has had a significant impact on the construction sector and has been a hot topic in the industry. According to an article in the Miami Herald by Gregg Fields, ``Steel is increasingly becoming a precious metal in the American economy. Thanks to a ravenous appetite for steel in fast-developing China, a rebounding U.S. economy, and a weak dollar, steel prices are rocketing upward and supplies are short.''

An article in Inc. magazine noted that in 2004 the construction boom in developing Asian countries helped to drive up steel prices 46 percent. And The Florida Times-Union, in an article by Timothy Gibbons, reported that ``last year, according to American Metal Markets, an industry trade publication, China imported more than $1 billion worth of American scrap, a world record. The country used more than 36 percent of rolled steel and half of the cement in the world, according to the People's Daily.''

``We certainly believe that the rising price of steel is one of several major industry trends that is helping Plasticon achieve success with our plastic rebar support product line,'' Mr. Turek said. ``Our domestic distributor, the largest building materials distribution company in the United States, has noted that demand has been increasing steadily. We believe that the dramatic rise in the price of steel over the last year and a half has made construction companies look harder at other options, rather than relying solely on steel products. And when they see what Plasticon has to offer, they realize that our innovative products are not only more cost-effective, our cutting-edge engineering also gives the end user a much better product, which is stronger, much easier to install, more versatile, and offers the most advanced design and engineering product line in rebar supports ever to be offered in the marketplace. Our products completely prevent spalling (corrosion damage) and prolongs the life of the structure. Together, these factors make our product offering a compelling proposition. So yes, I would say that the rising price of steel has been a boon to Plasticon International, because it really forces construction companies to do a more detailed assessment of the alternatives and then the demand has naturally increased for our products.''

Mr. Turek cited Plasticon's relationship with R&S Manufacturing as a recent example of the direct impact that the soaring price of steel is having on Plasticon International and the industry. ``R&S Manufacturing is one of the oldest and most respected names in steel post-tensioning cable, and they recently contracted with Plasticon to supply our plastic rebar supports to all of their post-tension cable customers,'' Mr. Turek said. ``R&S recently increased their order by 50 percent, and in fact, they are exclusively supplying plastic rebar supports to their customers, rather than steel rebar supports. The soaring price of steel certainly has something to do with this, in addition to the quality of the engineering with our plastic rebar support product line. This will have a major impact in our industry in terms of the acceptance of recycled plastic rebar supports as the industry standard.''

The rising price of steel has wreaked havoc with budgets in the construction sector. ``The price of steel has led to a lot of uncertainty among construction contractors and has made it difficult for them to provide reliable pricing,'' Mr. Turek said. ``We are fortunate because our raw materials are so abundant, therefore we can reliably provide our products at a much more cost-effective price point than steel. Again, we see the soaring price of steel as one of the major industry trends that is driving business to Plasticon International as we move forward.''

Based on world demand and the dramatic increase in construction in emerging markets, the price of steel is unlikely to retrace, but rather all indications are that it will continue to rise. This trend is very likely to continue and has very positive repercussions for Plasticon International's core business -- their recycled plastic resin rebar support product line.

Here's an idea. How 'bout a separate rating count from "the masters" who have achieved this status on this board? Maybe this status could be determined by a certain level of applause by the posters, or D and F could decide. A "masters' kudos" would be a way of letting the poster and others know that the opinion was read and given a thumbs up by the folks we all consider to be "in the know".

Just a thought...

Trunk, here's a thread I started a while back, asking about some good books to get me started. Got some great suggestions and tips from the "heavy hitters"  ;D

Elite also recommended I look at the free chart school at www.stockcharts.com. It's helped A LOT...

Good luck, dude!

You know, Elite, with all this racy talk on this board about your new method, I don't feel so sheepish about my 3SF ID anymore.  :P Good luck with that "G-spot", I've been trying find that booger for years...   ;D
Thanks for the tip on the chart school at stockcharts. Sometimes I think my head's going to explode, but I'm starting to get a handle on it. It gets frustrating because I realise it's going to take time to learn this, and the process will ALWAYS be on-going, but I want to know everything NOW.  ;) I'm getting closer to the day when I'll make the plunge. This site and you all help to keep my spirits and confidence up. Thanks LOADS.
