VAALCO Energy Announces Arrival of Avouma Production Platform
Friday July 7, 9:00 am ET

HOUSTON, July 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- VAALCO Energy, Inc. (Amex: EGY - News) announced today that the production platform has arrived at its Avouma field off the coast of Gabon in West Africa, and a 10-mile-long pipeline linking the platform to a Floating Production, Storage and Offloading facility should be completed next week.

The Avouma field, which VAALCO discovered in 2004, is expected to produce approximately 10,000 barrels oil per day from two horizontal wells when production begins late in the fourth quarter this year. Drilling at the site is due to begin in October.

Robert Gerry, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, stated, "Avouma will be our second field on the Etame Block to come on production. The first field, Etame, was developed in 2002 and produces approximately 18,000 barrels oil per day. The $100 million Avouma development project, when completed, will take our production to a new level."

In addition VAALCO announced that it has received Gabon government approval for a development area around the Ebouri discovery, also discovered in 2004. A development plan is almost complete and will be filed with the government, with a target of late 2007 for startup of the Ebouri field. Ebouri is expected to add an additional 5,000 barrels per day to the Etame Block production.

Home Solutions Shares Rise on Analyst Upgrade Following Heavy Tuesday Sell-Off

i like this part

he expects the company's stock to hit a price target of $15.50 within six months rather than an earlier 12-month time frame.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of Home Solutions of America Inc. rebounded Wednesday after an analyst upgraded the stock to "Strong Buy" following Tuesday's rapid-fire sell-off.
Home Solutions, a provider of home restoration and specialty interior services, saw its stock add $1.55, or 22.8 percent, to $8.35 in midday trading on the American Stock Exchange. The analyst upgrade helped spark a surge in trading volume, as trades ballooned to more than 6.1 million at midday, compared with a daily average of about 2.8 million.

Shares have traded in a 52-week range of $1.28 to $14.14.

On Tuesday, the stock plunged 30 percent after Internet blog StockLemon.com posted an unfavorable report on the company's recent contract with newly formed American Renaissance Homes, a builder of modular houses.

In a statement Wednesday, American Renaissance charged that the blog's report contained "significant distortions and misstatements" regarding the companies' relationship.

Home Solutions in May received a contract from American Renaissance it said would generate about $5 million in revenue this year. Also as part of the deal, the company agreed to lend privately held American Renaissance Homes $800,000 for working capital, contingent on the company meeting certain performance criteria.

Sanders Morris Harris analyst David Yuschak upgraded shares of Home Solutions to "Strong Buy" from "Buy," given recent weakness in the shares. In a client note, he increased his per-share earnings estimates for this year and next and said he expects the company's stock to hit a price target of $15.50 within six months rather than an earlier 12-month time frame.

Sanders Morris Harris served as Home Solutions investment bank and facilitated a private placement of the company's stock during the past year.

Dallas-based Home Solutions has seen its share price climb sharply since last year's worst hurricanes ravaged the Gulf Coast, where the company has many of its renovation and interior services operations.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., June 1, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Threshold Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (THLD, Trade), today announced that the Independent Data Monitoring Committee (IDMC) recently evaluated the data collected to date from the Company's ongoing pivotal phase 3 clinical trial of glufosfamide for the second-line treatment of patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer. The IDMC concluded that the trial can continue to completion.

For the planned interim analysis the IDMC could have recommended stopping the trial early if there were major safety concerns in the glufosfamide arm. After reviewing the interim data the IDMC recommended to continue the study to completion.

"This is an important milestone in the development of this novel therapy," said Alan Colowick, M.D., chief medical officer at Threshold. "We anticipate announcing top-line results at the end of the fourth quarter this year. We are hopeful that, if successful in this trial, glufosfamide will give patients another treatment option against this deadly cancer."

UPDATE 1-Threshold says FDA partially suspends drug trial

LOS ANGELES, May 11 (Reuters) - Threshold Pharmaceuticals Inc.(THLD.O: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Thursday the U.S. Food and Drug Administration partially suspended a late stage clinical trial of a drug for enlarged prostate after six participants showed liver problems, sending its shares down 76.1 percent in after hours trading.

The problems included "adverse events" in three men in the phase 3 European/Canadian clinical trial, and three others who had elevated liver enzymes in other trials, Threshold said in a statement.

The drug, TH-070, or lonidamine, was first approved to treat cancer in three European countries in the mid-1980s.

The company said the FDA has requested additional information related to the drug's acceptable dose and duration of treatment in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia.

The company said it would stop administering the drug to 567 patients enrolled in phase 3 of its European and Canadian trial.

Threshold said it would continue two other trials but was withdrawing another trial that had been planned for this year.

"Our main priority right now is the safety of our patients and we are working with the FDA to resolve these safety issues as quickly as possible," said Alan Colowick, Threshold's chief medical officer.
