David and others,

Thank you for helping me have a good week!  "Trading the plan" forced me to take half off the table today, but moved it into EYII @ .07, and now I have 2 great picks for the price of 1.  8)

Fantastic job on this one by all who posted.

Happy trading!  :D :D

Art,
The short version - only commit what you wouldn't mind losing and feel comfortable "playing" with   :D

The slightly longer version - we should all have a specific lifelong gameplan for our financial well being - properly managing our debts, assets, income and responsibilities (family, etc) to work toward our life goals - bass boat, retirement, travel, college funds for the kids, vacation homes, lap dances, whatever.....the more we can eliminate debt and increase assets, the closer we are to our financial goals, but age is a factor - a 20 year old has more earning years to replace financial losses than a 50 year old, and more time to take advantage of compounding.....and the sooner we can achieve financial freedom, the more time we will have to enjoy it......freeing ira money for pennies, aside from any disbursement tax/penalty implications, should only be considered in light of your global financial situation, age, income, financial goals and comfort level....remember the gambler's saying of "don't bet what you can't afford to lose"....

As for actually playing the pennies, develop a sound trading plan (plan the trade), try paper trading if you haven't done pennies yet, realize some of the pitfalls like wild price fluctuations, really fast price movement, liquidity and trouble getting orders filled, then stick to your trading plan (trade the plan) - you'll stay in the game longer and have a better chance of making your accountant sweat over all those capital gains..   >:D

Pennies can be a blast, but make sure your financial situation is strong and this won't affect it....best wishes on being profitable.  ;)

Penny Stock Picking / Re: CGHI - a no brainer?
July 07, 2005, 11:28:45 AM
Eager,
i'm still in with a small position, figure if it runs up i won't have time to buy back in, low downside risk, and with the low volume it's probably people getting tired of waiting for news and pulling their money to move on to other things.

Stock Market Talking / Re: Interview with eliteG

G,
It would seem that your real success is not in what you have but who you've become....and so willing to pass it on to others and make the world a better place....well done!  If you ever find yourself in Atlantic City lunch is on me.

Penny Stock Picking / Re: WWAT- solar power

Saffey,
I'm holding on this also for the same reasons, question about ADX when you have time as i'm trying to learn more ...i also see the ad- crossover as false, probably from the tail on that candlestick 3 days ago...my understanding is that a rising adx indicates that the stock is moving out of a trading range and trending, but that a high adx doesn't necessarily indicate trend direction... that is, a high adx would indicate a strong trend which could be either a downtrend or uptrend, and the +/- crossovers can help us with direction....when you say the support is still there from the adx chart, is that because the adx is still relatively low (under 40), indicating the stock is holding steady in that trading range and not trending yet? appreciate any insight, and of course i only use this in conjunction with all other indicators.

happy trading.

Penny Stock Picking / Re: CGHI - a no brainer?

Agreed, thanks irishman, looks like they're leveraging everything using these "stock for mining" acquisitions to increase their pps on paper to make it more attractive for the offers they claim to have

i'll keep a small position on a tight leash based on technicals, while giving it a few days for news - i'd be interested in seeing either a buy the rumor run or a real offer if there is one (anything over .24pps would be fine with me  :D)  either way i figure it will start to reflect up or down in the share price soon, and that will tell me what i should do - good warning on this one, thanks  ;)

Thunderblues,
It's been a painful 2 days, but I'm with stocky on this one....up to 10% in each position, lower in speculative plays, with about 8-10 open positions at any given time, because that's what i'm comfortable managing.....but this is only "right" for me, and only "right" for my high-risk money....we're each responsible for making our own decisions....fortunately there's some great stock pickers and great info on this site to help..

Developing a trading plan and applying it consistently over time will bring the best results - it's hard to block out the dreams of constant 10-baggers, but try this one - forget 100% gains, grab a calculator, start with say $5000 and project a more modest 20% gain, month over month, for 2 years.....that final number after 24 months will make the commissions less painful....i would rather pay $20 commissions on a simple $100 profit than $20 commissions on losses chasing the last one that got away

Hopefully all who post here will continue to do so in the spirit of cooperation and information sharing....learn as much as possible, make buy/sell/hold decisions as best we can, and then move on to the next day's business of making money ;)

Feedback / Hi guys
June 12, 2005, 10:39:21 PM
I sense that my high risk play portfolio will soon eclipse many of my other accounts....i only trade 8 to 10 relatively small positions at any given time, but my appreciation for you and your site will be shown following IIJI this week, and with a portion of monthly or quarterly thereafter on any of your recommendations that bring a return my way..

you have a great forum, moderated with intelligence, class and wit....and you make all feel welcome and equal, even the occasional contentious poster....i only hope the volume of postings remains manageable (and the discourse civil) with so many vying for your attention.....i would wish you success with this venture, but i sense that your approach to business (and life) already assures it.....here's to learning and earning..

best wishes and regards,
al
