Stock Picking / EBAY
April 16, 2008, 10:46:54 AM
I made Ebay charts yesterday based for elliott wave theory as well as IBM, but this forum site looks a bit too small post them, I noticed my previous chart was very hard to read in here because of it´s size.

So, I rather keep it in my own blog, but any comments are wellcome in this web page.

However, according to this setup together with IBM chart and some other´s individuals
stocks EW counts I haven´t published, I think this market has made or is making now serious bottom.

Certainly, there´s small rally as SP stands now at 1352 after Intel conference call and stock seems to have serious troubles still get over important 22,50 $ (fibonacci resistance) leve. Oil forming also in last wave 5, what do you think ? Or am I just a lucky one found individual stocks making something completely different as stockindex does ?

Mamma mia, that´s what you can call dead for "funny money strategies".

Good call, I hope you shorted it! Generally I think 50/50 straddles works best way
with these shortsqeeze "funny money stocks". Firstly, there´s reason market shorting
them and secondly any surprizing news blow them to either direction.

Only problem is that sometimes market knows there´s big move coming behind the
corner and for that reason pricing "delta" to be very expensive, didn´t check crox
prices anymore but at least JOSB call and put sides were very expensive one´s 2 weeks ago,
meaning that buyer will have to expect a lot of theta value.

Well, I think there´s not so many stocks exist can avoid GE and dow Stocks power.
Crox went up over 20% in a week, so, should assume it takes now a bit correction,
perhaps there´s double bottom you´re searching for ?

However, I am still at the shortside regarding to complete market. This correction didn´t end yet.

Stock Picking / Re: General Electric, GE

Where´s surprising part of it ?  ;D

Regards,

-Daiwa, scanning stockmarket end-week coral reefs...  ::)

General Electric posted a surprising first-quarter earnings miss Friday, deflating investors' hopes that the conglomerate could rise above an economic slowdown.

Shares of GE - a Dow Jones industrial average component - tumbled 9.5% in premarket trading, and the results sent stock futures tumbling.

GE's (GE, Fortune 500) reported net income fell 6% to $4.3 billion after reporting income of $4.6 billion in the first quarter of 2007.

Earnings from continuing operations were 44 cents per share, down from 48 cents per share a year earlier and well below the 51-cent-a-share consensus forecast of analysts polled by Thomson Financial

Only once since the start of 2006 has GE failed to deliver earnings that exactly met First Call's forecast, according to the earnings tracker. That was in the second quarter of 2007, when it beat the earnings per share forecast by a penny.

With businesses in a multitude of sectors, such as health care, finance, energy, consumer electronics, industry and media, many consider GE to be a barometer for the health of the U.S. economy.

But even with strong exposure in markets overseas, the multi-faceted corporation could not avoid taking a hit to its financial services division amid a U.S. credit crisis.

"Our primary shortfall was a decline in financial services earnings," said GE chairman and chief executive Jeff Immelt. "We knew the first quarter was going to be challenging, but the extraordinary disruption in the capital markets in March affected our ability to complete asset sales and resulted in higher mark-to-market losses and impairments."

Sales rose 8% to $42.2 billion, which missed analysts' forecast of $43.7 billion. A year ago, GE reported revenue of $39.2 billion.

"While we are disappointed with our results, the fundamentals of our businesses are strong," Immelt said. "Nevertheless, we failed to meet our expectations.

Congratulations BigScully - You spotted nice new impulse there.
I think I am going to use your pattern later if waves will not get
extended. However, there´s shorter timeframe bearish triangle approaching
as first impulse most likely coming to the end somewhere between 40-43$.
Sorry to have this big area, but daily candles won´t tell more exact area.
It should marked also neckline resistance to the same area.

Certainly any pattern can broke upside also and it´s possible stock would take
after runaway completes only small correction. There´s not much data available as IPO has been just few years ago, but this is kind of warning for me when you starting to get waves
breaking for elliott wave mode.

And we´re travelling....

There´s also still big buyers in derivative call side, yesterday another 5000 25 $ april calls were changed hand. I do have 90/10 derivative strategy for this meaning 10% protective puts against of 90 % of calls (long), they are mostly likely worthless allready, but it´s a small insurance cost if sometimes entry on the wrong place for long position.

Your overbought entry getting even more overbought  ;D

I made some technical work for your HOKU chart with comments if you don´t mind. Overall this is bullish view and I like the fact that stock took correction for 50%. 38.2% and fib 50% lines as those are the one´s most likely starting new impulse for upside (elliott waves terminology).

Crox shoes rocketing  ;D

This is indeed very funny market, with PE-8, EPS-2 and shortfloat over 50% + Bullish Wedge comes to the end...all this seriously gave good runaway platform, but the real question comes where to exit ? We are up now +25% in 6 session, 25 - 30 $ area good to execute or should I start counting new impulse waves ?

On the other hand those shoes are unseasonal products...

Stock Picking / Re: Jos.A.BANK (JOSB)
April 05, 2008, 06:35:40 PM
Seems that volyme started to show buy interested participants action now, in friday afternoon there was huge diagonal straddle deal buyer on the market, he bought this month contracts as strike 25$ calls over 6000 and also 25 $ put options over 6000 contracts. This was over half of all open options available for the stock. While this position was build stock went very high volatility, ending up the day around +4%.

Next 2 weeks should be interesting.

Stock Picking / JOSB

How about JOSB clothing guys ? I don´t think we can go much further with these mad numbers, allmost 90% of company shares are shorted (borrowed). PE Ratio stands as 8, same as Crox does. I had found that diagonals in bear market can be very lazy to take move upside, but should this stock have extra powerfull support located at fib .618% ? In elliott wave terms we might have good chance to make a handshake with new impulse wave 3 - which is allways most powerfull.

(I made a few charts to view them full size just click them if interested)
