Stock Picking / Re: INSM Very hot!
March 07, 2007, 08:31:16 PM
I'm sure this is the take of a bagholder, but this is a buy at .89  If it dips below, I will do the unthinkable and average down and then hold.

Short stature was not what was going to make IPLEX huge in the first place, and now the lawsuit is put to bed, and DNA is motivated to help in the future.  The 7.5 million judgement goes away, and the path is cleared for the big money to be made down the line free the lawsuit cloud.  I had hoped for a buyout settlement, but dems da breaks.

INSM is up today on big dip day on high volume.  You would think on a day like today it would be a perfect candidate to tank, because all it has going for it is speculation right now.  Must be some pretty strong speculation.

God forbid saying this on a long term portfolio stock, but this has been a traders dream between 2.36 and 2.50.

Ive got 4k shares I've held for awhile Laonda.  I hope TRCA, DNA, and INSM can come to some agreement as the Doctor expressed in the NYT article.  I really don't know what to believe as far as the lawsuit.  I've read a lot about it, but opinions obviously vary.  All I know is that I have 3 children, and if I had a chance to give my child 1 shot a day instead of 2, there is no way I would opt for 2, so IPLEX IMHO is going to get a lion share of the patients choosing between Increlex and Iplex, the 2 approved drugs, but the lawsuit just hangs ove the head of the stock like a disease.

A couple of your old picks.  Both with rumors lately.

INSM  NYT article and a stipulation agreement between TRCA and INSM in their trial leading to speculation of settlement.  Lazard reitierates $3 target 2-19-07

XMSR-  I took a small position in this at 15.50 today based on the volume and proposed merger.  It dipped below 15 but now has come back.  I guess 50 million shares traded of a $15 stock just got my attention on a dip.

La Onda,

WTVI history is pump and dillute, pump and dillute, then Reverse Split.  I have the shares to prove it.  Maybe not this time, but every time I have seen that phrase written, it seems to always end up the same as before.  On the positive side, in one of my accounts if I trade the shares from the last reverse split that I have I can now pay the commission to trade them and break even.

Yesterday I saw a 130,000 share buy at .90 on ETLT and I added to my shares that I had purchased at .80.  From that moment it has dropped on low volume.  Any thoughts on buying into a big purchase like that, other than that in this case it was wrong.

IFON, one of your old picks is having a bit of a squeeze today I think on no news.  It might be over, or it might be taking a breather.

Call 1-800- ENRON Voova

Ask those folks about being 100% in one stock.  Downside risk outweighs upside gain, even if you get one right.  imho.

Hmm....looks like a lot of people are overreacting??

I was in the mid 12's.  I'm simply taking profits.  Knowing when to sell is an imperfect science, and it evolves with most traders I think.  I'm not particularly good at it, but I have underreacted too many times and seen profits slip away, or in some cases taken losses.  The classic grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory.  Sometimes you just have to take a win for your "psyche", and this is one of those times for me anyway.  How I actually feel about it however will be in direct proportion to the direction the stock takes without me, unlike some who can simply "be glad" they sold before seeing the results.  I am constantly either patting myself on the back, or kicking myself in the butt, but I do neither until I see how it works out.

I think saying "you're glad you sold", before seeing how it works out is psuedo bashing, albeit unintentionally.  It was/is a fabulous pick, and I would never want to give the impression that I can see the sky falling, when there is no evidence of it, particularly for the fine folks still holding.  Afterall, clouds often clear away before a day of sunshine, just as they sometimes appear before a storm.  Time ultimately provides the answer.

Stocklemon has a following, regardless of what anybody thinks about them.   Lots of stocks have tanked after they panned them.  Some stocks they have panned have not tanked.  The fact that they have been wrong before is entirely not the point.  It seems the higher the stock has run up, the more skittish retail traders become in reaction to their articles IMHO.  But retail investors often get skittish after run up without the Lemon, so what do I know.

I sold at 20.40 today, just in case there is any Stocklemon effect emboldening shorts and prodding profit takers.  It was pretty close to when I was planning on selling anyway.  I might buy it back if it dips, but I won't chase it if I lose out.  The run up and the possible effects of the article combined made me skittish or perhaps a chicken.  With stocks, it seems to me what people percieve is more important than the reality, so even if SL is wrong, it won't matter if people believe it.

KRY is an example today.  Cramer created a perception that it's risky to do business with a lunatic. as if the guy was sane when he recommended it in the first place. Maybe he is right.  Maybe he is wrong.  It really doesn't matter because the sheep sold and the people afraid of the sheep selling sold based on their perception that the positives of the company could not overcome the fear in the market based on perception.

Its pretty clear recently that the reality of the cash cow SYX has become is flattening any negative perception.  Lets see if it continues, but sometimes it doesn't hurt to take a time out.

I got burned trying to get a better entry price on this one like I did on syx, and it did a fly by on me with no entry at all.  Dang it.  What a great call David.  MSI seems to have missed the memo that stocks do pull back sometimes. ;D

I probably don't understand it either, I just conceptually like the idea of a neutral party processing rebates.  If that is unusual, I think Stocklemon is dubious for criticizing what everyone else does.

I knew the date of the article, and I am not a big follower of SL, however, if you ask me if I think fundamentally owning the company who does the rebates is a conflict of interest, I would say yes, no matter who is doing it.

They have the right to do it, all things being equal I would like an independent entity handling my rebate that has nothing to gain or lose from honoring it or denying it.
