Incyte novel JAK Inhibitor INCB18424 shows positive results in Phase I/II trial
Monday , December 10, 2007 17:23ET

By Staff Reporter

NEW YORK, Dec 11, 2007 (Thomson Financial via COMTEX) -- Incyte Corp. Monday said data from a Phase I/II trial of INCB18424, the company's orally-available janus-associated kinase inhibitor, demonstrates that it provides rapid and profound clinical benefits in myelofibrosis patients.

Myelofibrosis is a neoplastic condition with a survival rate of three to seven years, characterized by varying degrees of bone marrow failure, life-threatening splenic enlargement, and marked constitutional symptoms.

Results presented involved 11 of the patients in the study, and showed that mean reduction in spleen size reached 52% in the first month and 86% in the third, the company said. Additionally, all six patients treated for longer than three months achieved clinical improvement as defined by the International Working Group.

Incyte also said that INCB18424 was well-tolerated and that no patients discontinued the study.

INCY: Jefferies Cuts to Hold from Buy; Sets Tgt @ $10; Analyst Notes
Friday , January 04, 2008 08:48ET
Issuer: Incyte Corporation (NasdaqNM: INCY)
Analyst Firm:  Jefferies Group Inc.
Ratings Action: DOWNGRADE
Current Rating: Hold (from Buy)
Target Price: $10.00
Analyst Comments: While the firm maintains a favorable long-term outlook given its broad pipeline, the recent run-up in the share price upon promising, yet limited early clinical data for its JAK inhibitor (+40% in 4Q07 vs. down 4% for BTK; current EV ~$1B) sets us on the sidelines for a better entry point.
