DNDN: Shares Spiking on Partnership Rumors
Wednesday, June 27, 2007 14:32ET

Dendreon Corporation (DNDN) shares, up 13%, spiked on partnership rumors. There is no confirmation on the speculation.

This has been my observation so far.

It seems that DNDN used the 0.50 extension of the 0.382 retracement of yesterday's high of 7.50 and low of 6.30 which was 7.64.
Then used the 1.62 extension of the 1.00 retracement of the 5 minute high of 7.60 and low of 7.48 at 7.67.
Go in with upside momentum or wait for stock to tank and buy close to support.

Hit close to the 1.62% of the 5 minute opening  range of 7.65 and 7.46 at 7.34.

15 minute opening range is:
High = 7.65
Low = 7.33

If it breaks the low of the 15 minute's range, the intraday buy targets would be:

1.27 = 7.24

1.62 = 7.13

Which would still be above the pivot of 6.99.

If it breaks the 15 minute range's high with volume...

Go in with upside momentum or wait for stock to tank and buy close to support.

Ares

What are the chances of price respecting  the new channel?
The angle of attack is similar to the previous channel where it hit $13.
Will the new channel get a volatility expansion similar to the previous one?
Go in with upside momentum or wait for stock to tank and buy close to support.

For my gauge:

My main building would be mainly based on the levels attached.

My secondary building will be using the high and low of the 5 and/or 15 minute opening range.

Looking forward to what the market decides to do.
Go in with upside momentum or wait for stock to tank and buy close to support.

Attached is my entry on the yahoo board in the search to try and understand DNDN's behavior and find clues to the puzzle on what most people use as their gauge.

So far, the channeling thing seems to be working :)
However, there is still way more for me to learn in this stock journey.

I just reviewed another entry on the yahoo board and noticed that the low of the day(7.57)  was near (7.56) the level I had written down on my building.
It was the 1.382 extension from the previous day's low of 7.11.

So far, my conclusion is:

Support and resistances are not written in stone.
They are gauges for people to cast their votes (in the form of buying and selling).
If demand is more than supply, the price goes up.
If supply is more than demand, the price goes down.

If I realize that I'm wrong on my entry on the level I chose, I should cut my loss or get out at a small profit.
Reassess the situation and look for another entry that would have a good risk: reward ratio.

DNDN: JMP Sec Cuts to Mkt Underperform from Mkt Perform; Sets Tgt @ $5; Analyst Notes
Thursday , July 12, 2007 10:10ET
Issuer: Dendreon Corporation (NasdaqNM: DNDN)
Analyst Firm:  JMP Securities
Ratings Action: DOWNGRADE
Current Rating: Mkt Underperform (from Mkt Perform)
Target Price: $5.00

Analyst Comments: According to the firm, the company received a letter from the SEC announcing an informal inquiry related to Provenge clinical trials, Provenge's FDA application, and related correspondence. In addition, in what appears to be a separate issue, a recent SEC filing revealed that certain Dendreon officers and directors are facing a possible shareholder lawsuit with regard to insider trading activities around its Provenge FDA approval. These two issues increase the firm's concern regarding communication and perhaps conduct of the ongoing D9902B (IMPACT) trial, likely casting an overhang on DNDN shares until they are definitively concluded.

DNDN...looking interesting again.  A nice rounding bottom above the 9ema.  Also noticed several huge block buys over the the past week.  I would doubt Provenge approval yet...but possibly announcement of ROW partner soon.  Anyway...bought in today and $7.73.

Trio of Congressmen ask for investigation into ethics of FDA ruling on Provenge
Thursday , December 13, 2007 15:20ET

NEW YORK, Dec 14, 2007 (Thomson Financial via COMTEX) -- Congressmen Mike Michaud, D-Maine, Tim Ryan, D-Ohio, and Dan Burton, R-Ind. Thursday sent a letter to Congressman John Dingell, D-Mich., the chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, to request the committee conduct a hearing to discuss possible ethics violations and conflicts of interest on the part of two members of the Food and Drug Administration and the part they played in the FDA's decision to order additional clinical trials for Dendreon Corp.'s prostate cancer drug Provenge.

In March, an FDA advisory panel voted to recommend approval of the drug, but in rare divergence from the expert panel's recommendation, the FDA in May ordered additional clinical trials for the drug which likely won't be completed before 2010.

"There is reason to believe that serious ethics rules were violated by two FDA advisory panel members in their decision and that these violations played a role in the subsequent FDA decision to not approve Provenge at this time," the lawmakers said.

The letter questions the motives of oncologists Maha Hussain and Howard Scher, specifically as Scher is lead investigator for a competing cancer drug made by Dendreon rival Novacea Inc. and is listed as an adviser to a large venture capital firm that is also a major investor in Novacea.

"We believe the FDA should not be appointing scientists leading the testing of a rival drug for another firm onto an advisory committee evaluating Provenge nor should the FDA appoint an adviser to a large investor in such a competitive firm as a panel member. It is important that Congress examines possible ethical violations of these panel members considering the viability of potentially important life-saving drugs," the letter said.

Dendreon's shares, which tumbled 64% on May 9, the day the FDA released its decision, soared as much 34% in intraday trading Thursday to a 6-week high. The shares pared its gains, and were up 16% at $6.53 in afternoon trading. Christie Rizk cr/tk1
