DNDN will hardly escape this correction phase without touching support. The ascending trendline today will stand @$5.55, I'll continue holding the stock as long as it closes above this ascending trendline.

David Randolph

DNDN's earnings will be released Monday before the bell. Hopefully that will bring some resolution to the stock price, since I own the stock for a month and a half and it is basically where I've bought it.

Probably earnings won't be very good, but that doesn't matter much, what matters is the guidance for the future, how are those clinical trials going.

For me, not even this matters, since I'm in the business of making money trading stocks. To make money I need simple rules to work in a complex and unlimited environment.

My simple rules on DNDN remain the same:

1) Sell if the stock closes below the ascending trendline which stands at $5.56.
2) Sell with a profit at a close of a gap up at $10.26

It's hard to believe, but DNDN did indeed close below the ascending trendline. Though I didn't sell yet.

I think the market is at a low point now and some stocks did break their ascending trendlines but just briefly.

Results from DNDN were out and not good, as we expected, but that doesn't matter much for this biotech company: Dendreon Corporation Reports Second Quarter 2005 Financial Results

My plan, since I'm holding this stock for so long now, is to let it react to earnings (possibly the stock was coming down because there was a «sell the rumor» thing affecting it, but now it is time to «buy the news»).

What I need is to let the market tell me what to do, and I will sell at close if DNDN isn't up more than 1% at that time.

HI Dave

I agree, the whole pharma sector is right now a little down, I was planning on giving a little more breathing room to dndn, specially how i seen vphm and scln take of,,, right after i sold them   :-X , and i was hoping you would not sell as well. Still a great risk to reward ratio.   tonyg

DNDN was up more than 1% near the close, so I kept the stock  ;)

The stock opened down on the earnings news, but then we got the «buy the news» effect I was talking about and DNDN claw back above the ascending support line.

For tomorrow we want continuation of today's white candle, with DNDN closing at least above $5.59.

Lol, thanks Michael, with your help it is possible. But we don't need/want a lot of people, the most important thing for me is the quality of the service going forward, so expect some news on this subject next week.

Again, thanks for your help on the fundamental side of the trade  :)

David Randolph

Like President Bush once said, «I'm sick and tired» of DNDN. I know the stock has great prospects, but I'm getting a bit disappointed with the market action. This stock should have touched support and zoom higher, not meandering around it.

I hold it for a very long time now, and RULE 30 says «a Good Trade is Profitable Right from the Start».

So there's just one more chance for DNDN (it's possible the stock takes the chance, if not for other reason because the Nasdaq Comp is set to rebound). DNDN needs to be set to close higher on Monday or I'll sell for a small loss, respecting the RULE 13: Take big profits and small losses.

Drugmaker Dendreon files for $109 mln stock shelf
Mon Aug 15, 2005 06:18 AM ET
WASHINGTON, Aug 15 (Reuters) - Seattle-based drugmaker Dendreon Corp. (DNDN.O: Quote, Profile, Research) on Monday filed with regulators to periodically sell up to $109.3 million in common stock.

The company said in a registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that it will use the proceeds from the offering for clinical trials, research, preclinical development and commercialization activities and to increase its antigen-presenting cell processing capacity.

It will also use the funds to satisfy third-party obligations and for general corporate purposes.

Dendreon is a biotechnology company focused on the development and commercialization of targeted therapies for cancer.

Under a shelf registration, a company may sell securities in one or more separate offerings with the size, price and terms to be determined at the time of sale.

David Randolph

Ok, that's it, DNDN will probably break the support, I'm selling at the open. Again, thanks for the alert la-onda  ;)

Isn't it lovely to see a company executing their business plan? UBS might think that it will take years before Provenge will be approved but the management certainly thinks otherwise. Not only have they invested their own money buying stocks in the open market but now they prepare to start production:

QuoteDendreon Signs Agreement to Lease Manufacturing Facility in New JerseyThursday August 18, 9:35 am ET

SEATTLE, Aug. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dendreon Corporation (Nasdaq: DNDN - News) today announced that it has signed an agreement to lease 158,242 square feet of commercial manufacturing space in Hanover, New Jersey. Dendreon intends to develop this facility to meet the anticipated clinical and commercial manufacturing needs for Provenge® and its other active immunotherapy product candidates in development. Provenge is the Company's lead investigational active immunotherapy for the treatment of prostate cancer.

The Company will use the facility for manufacturing, laboratory, warehouse, and office space. The location is well situated both in terms of access to distribution channels and qualified industry personnel, which should provide operational efficiencies for the Company.

"We are pleased to have secured a manufacturing facility on the East Coast," said Mitchell H. Gold, president and chief executive officer of Dendreon. "This is an important milestone for the company as we work toward bringing Provenge to market as rapidly as possible."

And it seems like the market likes what it sees:

We're seeing alot of upside breakouts out of Symmetrical Triangles, Acending Triangles, etc. "morph," or change into, bearish patterns.  Unfortunately, that looks like what we've got with DNDN.

The August 8 break of David's up trendline also was a break of a Bear Channel, the top of which was at August, 2004 resistance, suggesting that the entire rally off the May low was a bear market rally.

The break of the Bear Channel suggests that DNDN could return to the channel origin, at the 4.31 May low, which would mean that those rats at UBS who downgraded it to 4.00 will be right.  But, that's what the channel break suggests at this point.

On the east coast facility news, DNDN is rallying back to the bottom of the broken bear channel, which comes in today at about 7.78.  It rises daily.  If DNDN can close back inside the bear channel, I would rate it neutral, technically.  Below the channel, I rate it a sell.

The high so far this morning is 7.82.  DNDN currently is BID 5.69...ASK 5.70, up $0.07 on only 59,000 shares traded.

aiy aiy aiy , the business of business will make you cracy no?  ::)

there are a lot of folks short on this stock , but ( if in the business sense) when we lease a manufacturing facility for a year, and we are going into september , october, which are really good times for the pharma stocks, the technicals ( thanks elf ) might have to take a back seat to the ticker. Elf what do you tink, ive seen some of your posts and they are brillient. imho   ;D
Thanks for adding your hard work to this board.  Tony G.
