EnerNOC raises 2008 revenue view,

LOS ANGELES, Aug 7 (Reuters) - Energy efficiency company EnerNOC Inc (ENOC.O: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) reported a narrower-than-expected quarterly loss on Thursday and raised its revenue outlook for the year on strong demand for its services, sending shares up nearly 12 percent in extended trading.

The second-quarter net loss was $10.4 million, or 54 cents a share, compared to a net loss of $8.2 million, or 74 cents a share, a year ago.

Wall Street analysts, on average, had been expecting a loss of 57 cents per share, according to Reuters Estimates.

Revenue nearly doubled to $23.7 million, above analysts' average estimate of $19.4 million, according to Reuters Estimates. In the same period last year, EnerNOC recorded revenue of $12 million.

EnerNOC, which helps utilities and grid operators curb and control peak electricity demand, raised its 2008 revenue view to between $101 million and $107 million. It previously expected revenue of $99 million to $105 million.

EnerNOC said it still expects to generate positive cash flow from operations in the second half of 2009 and record its first full year of profitability in 2010.

During the second quarter, EnerNOC increased its demand response megawatts under management by 141 MW to 1,643 MW.

CEO Tim Healy told EnergyTechStocks.com on 8-19-08 that EnerNOC's power monitoring and energy procurement business is also growing rapidly. "The dialogue has shifted," he said, meaning more businesses want EnerNOC to drill down into how they consume electricity in order to eliminate costly inefficiencies.

While Healy said that first half revenue from monitoring and procurement services had surged to about $2.8 million compared with about $400,000 in the prior-year period, he indicated that he thinks this segment of EnerNOC's business may experience even sharper growth in the coming months. He told EnergyTechStocks.com that in just the last six or so weeks, interest in EnerNOC's monitoring services has "skyrocketed," in part because, thanks to a bigger R&D budget, EnerNOC now has more sophisticated algorithms capable of going "deeper and deeper into customer facilities" to find where power is being wasted.
