hi,
like the looks of gigm , i think it would have posted a bullish engulfing pattern if it wasn't a short day on friday. this might have chance of breaking out above 2.79 with some more volume . profitable quater with a new aquistion coming. might be worth a trading plan.

nice volume to get the day started on this one...thinking about getting in...i noticed from earlier posts that $3.79 is like the real resistance...lots of upside after that??

any thoughts old-timers, on this one??

thanks!  :)

If successful, management believes the acquisition will accelerate top and bottomline growth in the short term and create significant long-term opportunities. hi,
looks good . seems to be holding at 2.50 and gradually climbing . wondering if you think there will be some reteacement before any more move up.?
volume is ok but i would like to see more interest in this stock.
it didn't come back to close the gap it made after earnings so this move could be for real! wouldn't that be something,
here is a chart

good luck

Today GIGM was caught up on my technical filter (only today?  ::)) and I've been reading the latest news and quarterly results and the company seems to be truly undervalued.

The first thing that jumped to my attention was the cash level: $55.7M with no debt, and the market cap is just $135.43M.

This means 41% of the stock price, or $1.1, is cash  :o

On the 3rd quarter in comparison to the same period last year, revenue growth was 44% and net earnings growth was 150%.

You can read full results here: GigaMedia Q3 Net Profit Up 150%: Best-Ever Quarter

Technically the chart is pretty erratic, I can't take any conclusions out of it, just that it has been rising, and that's good enough for me.

This was a previous 3 Stocks on Fire pick and I remember that Michael owns this stock (or at least he used to own), so you know it is fundamentally attractive  :)

I'll buy GIGM for the 3 Stocks on Fire Portfolio around today's open, 6.66% of capital as always.

This is what had me holding my shares:

From the CC transcript:

Fourth, strategic acquisitions. The management team is currently conducting due diligence in respect of a very interesting acquisition opportunity in the online entertainment sector. If successful, management believes the acquisition will accelerate top and bottom-line growth in the short term and create significant long-term opportunities. We are excited about the opportunity and hope to announce a definitive deal within a few weeks.

In sum, we are excited and very pleased with our business momentum. We have now recorded six consecutive quarters of net profit, and we are only beginning to see returns on our restructuring and the investments made in our growth platform

Thanks for the links la-onda, GIGM looks to be a fantastic pick  :D (well, for now I'm losing 0.74%, but not worried about it).

Just the fact that 41% of the current market value is cash in the company tells me this stock is way undervalued. If we also consider the existing growth of net earnings (150% from the same period in 2004), the stability of earnings (6 consecutive profitable quarters), the seasonal pick up (the 3rd quarter is seasonally the worst for online gaming, the strong season is yet to come for the new services the company has) and the fact that this is just the start for some of the company's business, we know GIGM has the potential to be a multiple bagger.

Probably the stock is this cheap because, after the tech bubble, everybody thought this was one of those that wouldn't survive, and it takes time to build confidence after this:

But if GIGM is able to take out $3.70, everybody will notice it and then the ski is the limit:

I own GIGM just since yesterday but I feel comfortable enough at this point to say this is already a long term holding of the 3 Stocks on Fire Portfolio.
