Ramsburg,

Thanks for the update. I think CNXT will rapidly get back to $2.50 and eventually continue pass $3 back toward the recent 52-week high.

Nothing negative has happened since CNXT was at $3.80 before the May 11th Market crash hit hard.  Nothing fundamentally has changed since May 11th for Conexant.  It will return to the $3 plus range right before earnings, or shortly thereafter.

IMHO, CNXT is a steal below $2.75......Good luck longs.

Hi bgoodman,
Thanks for your input, its great to hear such a positive opinion about CNXT ;) I'm probably looking to this stock only for the short term development of the current chart pattern, but if this works and it breakouts the $2.26 relative high, the long term technical outlook will be great.

Update:
News:
- CORRECTING and REPLACING Conexant Sets Date for Q4FY06 Earnings Conference Call

CNXT had a small negative reaction on the top of the triangle (the short term descending resistance), the support level is now located near $1.83, we are expecting an upside breakout at any moment, but till then CNXT should trade inside these two lines ($1.83 and $1.93).

Trading Plan:
Hold CNXT
(We'll not be setting an automatic stop for this position yet, although the suggested stop price would be near $1.70)

New Huawei C2510 Receivers Slated for Deployment in China

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Conexant Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CNXT - News), a worldwide leader in semiconductor solutions for broadband communications and the digital home, today announced that Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, will base its new digital video broadcast cable (DVB-C) InfoLink C2510 set-top boxes (STBs) on Conexant's CX2415X MPEG audio/video (A/V) broadcast decoder family. Huawei's InfoLink C2510 receivers will be deployed in provinces including Guangdong, Zhejiang, and Guizhou in the People's Republic of China.

Update:
Good News:
- Conexant's Semiconductor Solutions Power Huawei's Cable Set-Top Boxes

We just got the upside breakout we're waiting for ;)
Now if this works from a technical point of view, we should have a $2.55 price target In Play (projection of the symmetrical triangle pattern). Volume was consistent with the breakout, and momentum is now starting to be hot, so we expect short term continuation, despite the possible re-test on the breakout level ($1.95).
We're just moving the suggested stop level a bit, and let this position running:

Trading Plan:
Hold CNXT
(We'll not be setting an automatic stop for this position yet, although the suggested stop price would be near $1.80)

Hold CNXT
(We'll not be setting an automatic stop for this position yet, although the suggested stop price would be near $1.85)

Ramsburg,

WHAT HAPPENED?

Possibly an over reaction to TI.

Hi bgoodman,
Not sure what happened... but it was not nice to watch  :-\

Update:
CNXT had a significant sell off, volume was not exhaustive but this correctional move brings CNXT to its ascending support line, at the same spot there is the interception of another line, the projection of CNXT's earlier resistance at $1.86, so I'm expecting some upside reaction at these levels.
I have no clues about the earnings, so let's just trade the chart... We'll change our stop level to $1.82 changing from «suggested stop» to an automatic stop at that price:

Trading Plan:
Hold CNXT with a stop @ $1.82

Wednesday October 25, 4:30 pm ET
Strategic Investment Strengthens Market-Leading Broadband Access Technology Portfolio

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Conexant Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CNXT - News), a worldwide leader in semiconductor solutions for broadband communications and the digital home, today announced that it has acquired Zarlink Semiconductor's packet switching business in a $5 million all-cash transaction. Zarlink's packet switching product line includes a range of Fast Ethernet aggregation switches for network access equipment, and is complementary to Conexant's DSL central office (CO) product offering.

"The acquisition of Zarlink's packet switching business allows us to further strengthen our DSL technology portfolio and market-leading presence in broadband access markets," said Akram Atallah, senior vice president and general manager of Conexant's Broadband Access business. "Zarlink's digital switching logic technology is synergistic with our DSL central office product offering, and provides for non-blocking VDSL line card performance. Integrating our respective technologies will enable us to build on our solid foundation in access markets, and provides us with the opportunity to expand the product line into adjacent areas."

Zarlink's packet switch core engineering team has produced six generations of packet switches and management software over the past seven years and has 40 patents and patents-pending relevant to the business. Their team of highly experienced digital switching logic engineers is now a part of Conexant's Broadband Access group, and will be based in the company's headquarters in Newport Beach.

Conexant is the No. 1 provider of DSL semiconductor solutions, and has shipped more than 150 million DSL ports. The company's CO DSL solutions have been deployed worldwide by over 50 major service providers. Customer premises equipment (CPE) and CO semiconductor solutions include a full range of standards-based integrated circuits, software and reference designs for asymmetric and symmetric DSL applications including ADSL2plus, SHDSL and VDSL2. Fiber access solutions include the Xenon family of products for PON applications.

The acquisition news a day before earnings should be positive.  We should meet earnings or beat them, as it would be very unlikely to announce the deal if they were going to miss earnings.  GLTA
